I love the selection here and I just bought a few hundred dollars worth of clothing however the Hispanic woman who works at the front had such a bad attitude that she made the end of the transaction so unpleasant. He took off his favorite hat which was a ball cap with US C on it and left it accidentally behind. Running around after an apt I stumbled across this Nordstrom rack. Although it's been here for awhile it wasn't when I lived in the area. On the hunt for specific clothes for work I was ecstatic with the choices. Nobody wants to spend a lot on work clothes especially when it's only temporary. I found almost everything I needed with the exception of slacks. I was going back and forth with the amount of items I had even when I was at the register. What made the experience over the top the fact that they are already implementing their holiday return window. Finding out last minute a list of items I am required to bring I have been flustered because training is over a month so I won't have time to return anything if I don't use them. The ease of knowing I can wait and have some breathing room to see what is actually necessary made my day. The cashier Asha A. was so sweet and helpful I am glad I stopped in. read more

I'm surprised I forgot to review this place! I remember coming here for the first time a few months ago and I was so excited about it because they sell MAC makeup! ha ha They obviously don't have the full MAC collection but they do have several lipsticks, mascaras, eyeliners. Most of them are discontinued colors or seasonal. They also have Urban Decay, a few Yves Saint Laurent and Burberry cosmetics! I love how they carry Ted Baker London and Tory Burch here. Love getting great brands at a discount! I came here to check out the makeup. They had some good brands like Smashbox, Mac, and others but I didn't need anymore makeup. I ended up buying a Michael Kors jacket. It was $67 compared to $180. Yup! I saw it and couldn't let go of the jacket. It was nice! I also got my daughter some emoji tennis shoes. They were cute and they light up. Pretty nice! She wanted them so I got them for her. When we got to the register, I ended up applying for a credit card and got approved. More damage for me cause I love shopping at Nordstrom Rack. I'm addicted! They had a clearance rack which I was tempted to buy more clothes but kept holding on to the jacket. The lady checking me out was super nice! The lines went fairly fast. They had registers around the store. Restrooms were clean. Plenty of parking in front and to the side of the store. I would come back again. read more

In my opinion, this is the best Nordstrom Rack in Southern CA. I usually get lucky and find ample selection of designer threads like Johnny Was blouses, Tory Burch, and recently a $450 Rag & Bone jumper for pennies on the dollar! What a score that was! I also like Carmel Mountain, but this review is for this location. The store is plenty stocked and doesn't seem at all somewhat bare like other locations tend to right now. It's a hit or miss it seems with stores not receiving timely shipments and such. I always find this location to have fantastic customer service. I got the best deals on Black Friday here. It was totally empty and I got a bunch of shirts for under $10! I got a pair of pants for $13. Super happy with my purchase! I had to write this because I never felt this level of discrimination shopping. During my shopping trip today at this store, I found a bag in the designer section that I asked to purchase. The associate helped me and assured me that it will be left at the register to purchase. He also clarified that the length of time they keep this is about 1 hour for me to look around and after that they put it back on the floor, as they do not offer any Hold for items. As soon as I agreed, another customer showed up asking to speak to another associate. Then she followed by " I had this item on hold yesterday when I called; This is mine to purchase". The Sales associate (Alex) agreed. Took the bag and somehow disappeared, while telling me he is checking for a similar item for me and pretending he is looking for a solution. I did see the lady also follow him. After about 20 min of waiting in the store, I ask for him, he comes back and lied, saying " the lady put this on hold today!" When she had clarified she called yesterday! when I corrected him, he claimed he aligned with the store manager and they mutually agreed they will for this case sell the bag to the other lady. Simple! He even went as far as saying she drove from LA! To which I replied, you don't know how far my commute was nor what arrangements I had to make as 40 week pregnant lady with a toddler to find a gift for Xmas before I deliver Monday! He didn't care... nor did he ask! Just as the other associate explained to me: 1- there is a no hold policy for any item! 2- if she held it yesterday, and then item is put back on the floor, it is fair game for anyone to purchase. 3- if she called this am and the item was on hold, why was it out back on the floor. This was the ultimate F U to me as a customer, and to their policy. Long Story Short - the guy did not care and ultimately had already taken the bag and gave it to the other person who supposedly had put the item "on hold" the day before. If anything ... There is a hold window, and if the item put back on the floor after 24 hours, can be sold to someone present and willing in store - that is it! We all have been in situations even at Nordstrom where items are sold in store to a customer, while we reserved it online or ... the rule is, they canceled the hold or online sale because priority is with the person in store who purchases it first! I can accept that! But not this discrimination. Talk about a very messed up approach. Next time, when shopping, be aware the SA can literally take something out of your hand and chose to give it to their "friends" or preferred customer with zero regards for the policies in place. read more

Update: I called back and the store manager that was working was amazing, she exchanged the items for a size that actually fit me! Funny story , I happened to go right next to the register that the lady working last night was working today that had an attitude with Alex. She told the lady ringing me out today as I walked up "good luck with this one" then looked at me and rolled her eyes. For what ever reason she took it personal as I was not rude to her what so ever. Not sure what point she had to prove but apparently a big one. Very frustrating experience, I received ugg slippers as a gift and totally forgot I had them in the closet. I meant to exchange them for a size that fit a while back. I finally came across the slippers 2 weeks later than the 45 day return policy. I actually remembered cause I was in the store shopping and I saw the same ones in the size I needed. I went back a day later to exchange them with original receipt, unworn, all tagged attached and ALEX (the manager) wouldn't let me exchange them. He was super unfriendly, not prioritizing the costumer experience at all. It's really up to his discretion, but for what ever reason felt that he didn't want to authorize the exchange. (Didn't even look at the receipt or the slippers) Should I have taken them back sooner? Yes. But it's literally an even exchange, ALEX'S store wasn't going to lose money. I called 3 stores to see if they would exchange at their location, they all said they don't see why that was even an issue. They said come when ever and they'll make sure the customer is happy because that policy is more important to them than an ego trip. Won't be back to this location, even after being a loyal customer for 5+ years. Nordstrom Rack claims to pride themselves on customer service, but that was clearly not the case for Alex. I have never been a big consumer of clothes, and even less so as I've gotten older. I'm completely guilty for not knowing the current prices of clothes and fashion and my benchmark is undoubtedly years old at this point. What I'm concerned about during the rare times I do come into department store is the ease of finding something and the quality of items. For the first point the store is rather full with a lot of items, but for the most part well organized and not in too much disarray. As for the second part, it will of course vary depending on the brand of the specific item. Ultimately though, there is enough variety here so even someone like me who despises shopping can get in and get out quickly. read more

Very large store with a bit of everything. Pretty great prices. They have purses, sunglasses and more than just clothing. Now that they are in the Whole Foods center, it's much easier to park. Lunchtime gets busy though in here. The lines do get long but they go pretty fast. I had a return and it was so fast and easy once I got to the register. I didn't think she was done. This use to be my favorite Nordstrom Rack it was a routine after the VA hospital we go straight here since it's conveniently down the street and always have some great finds. Today my boyfriend (which happens to be black)and I (Filipino)went inside the store and ofcourse we split up inside to look at random things. Less than 5 mins he ended up at the women's shoe section with me and a random employee ask "sir are you looking for something?" My boyfriend replied "I'm with her and pointed at me." I looked at the employee and then he asked me the same thing "are you looking or do you need help finding something specifically?" I replied "no." Since when did a place like Nordstrom Rack ask if A customer is looking for something specifically. A store like this is a place you gotta keep looking and find things you might like it's a hit or miss. Am I wrong? I've never felt so discriminated and felt so much racism. I wasn't born yesterday I know base on how the employee's tone of voice and actions towards us meant. I decided to stop browsing and just leave. On our way out security was staring at us in such a terrible way while he was mumbling something on his little headset and then sarcastically said have a nice day. So happy this opened in UTC! I love the new construction they did such a good job for how much of a nightmare this entire shopping center layout is. The shoe section is HUGE! It's my goto always. Not sure what the hype is all about, the place crazy packed. Although I have to say they are pretty efficient with checkouts. The prices are decent, but finding something you would actually like is few and far between. Since this location is new, I think they have beefed up their crew and so the clothing isn't all over the place like the location in Mission Valley. Overall, if you have time to kill and you dont mind trying to driving around 20 minutes to look for parking, then you should swing by. read more

Finally, Nordstrom rack has opened in the Shops at La Jolla Village. Today is opening day and as expected, the store is beautiful, fully stocked, and bright and new! I hope that The store stays this clean and organized, because it will Be a dream come true to have a Nordstrom Rack that isn't a complete and utter mess. Hopefully patrons will be responsible and do their part in keeping the store organized. I'm looking forward to editing my review as time passes but as far as things go today, this store rocks! I'm not going to comment on the parking situation which is obviously and understandably a mess. I wish they could have added a parking structure to the building plan because this center is in dire need of more parking spots. It's a nice clean store, love their jewelry section! You can get a ton of items for a good deal here. Their checkout service is great. They have employees in green shirts walking around that will get you checked out on the spot if you're ready and are paying with card. Much better than the Mission Valley store in terms of space and crowd size. The problem is that what it makes up in space, it lacks in items I actually need. There were only a handful of suits in 40R, but I suppose that could be attributed to it being a popular size. The fitting room staff was wonderful. Actually, all the employees seemed relaxed and friendly. Furthermore, this store has a 4 chair waiting section outside the fitting rooms. In between the chairs is a small box with 6 places to plug in a charger and 4 USB plugs. 15 items max in the fitting room. read more

Both Alissa and roy went above and.beyond for me. So I was in La Jolla on vacation this last week. I absolutely love Nordstrom Rack. I shop regularly at the Nordstrom Rack here in Las Vegas . I will say the selection is absolutely amazing ! Lots to choose from . I also noticed that every employee I interacted with either from the fitting rooms to the register was rude. They had this almost annoyed look on their faces that I opened my mouth to ask them a question. I spent a total of 2 hours and over $700 on items there and never once did any employee there either smile , say "Hi" or even possibly a Thank you ?!?! Needless to say I will avoid this location this month when I go back out. I will be sticking to the Vegas location since the employees are actually nice . read more

I've ordered for online pick up, as well as come to make a return and both times they have no one manning the pick up or returns counter. They tell pick up customers to wait on the line that's wrapping all the way around the store down to the shoe aisles and that defeats the purpose of ordering online. read more

A first-time visitor to this location and first impression was great. Everything was well stocked and organized and the shoe department was huge. A bit on the small side for kids but it's fine...they don't carry the brands my little one will only wear (Natives) but that's what Nordstrom.com is for. Mama needs to shop for herself too. I didn't find a pair of flats that I've been on the hunt for but found a pair of Sanuk flip flops to use around the pool. I didn't have time to go through the clothes racks but focused on shoes and purse/wallets for an upcoming trip we're going on. I tend to carry a small wallet but needed something larger but not too large that couldn't still fit in a crossbody purse. Funny enough, I found one that would work for what I needed and two others that I just "needed" for whatever. ; ) The check out line was pretty long (probably 10 people deep) but they worked through each of the customers quickly so I was out of there in no time. This store isn't near me but this might be a stop if shopping in the UTC area. read more

The selection here was very limited, but I would like to say that the organization of the clothes here is way more manageable than any other location that I've witnessed! So that's a major kudos for a Nordstrom rack. Their selection on the other hand could use some work and parking is horrendous so be prepared! I recommend if you want a slight piece of mind to go to the location on Carmel mountain for more selections and more accessible parking. Besides that, this location does have more handbags and home decor than any of the other locations. I have shopped at Nordstrom before I even knew what shopping was but to say the least I am extremely disappointed in this location. I was recently there this week on Thursday. Before heading to my local Whole Foods I decided to pop in....well that was a mistake. As I was looking for a few new things for a couple of my upcoming trips I was followed and watched by the employees and lp. While I know that it is the season I think it might be best that you retrain the staff or either make it look less obvious. This isn't the first time that this has happened at this location to me or my boyfriend. I had the WORST experience I have ever had at any Nordstrom, or frankly any store I've ever been to here. I bought a pair of shoes a couple weeks ago in a hurry. I brought them home and put them on to go out. I literally walked downstairs and realized that they were unbearably uncomfortable and that the lining was already coming out (these were $100 on sale so that's just not acceptable). I brought them into the store with receipt, in the box and was rudely told that I "had clearly been wearing them" and that they couldn't help me in anyway. The sales people were making me seem like a scammer or something and didn't believe me which is just terrible! I was so upset I started tearing up that they didn't believe me. I said I would even take half store credit since they were expensive and unwearable, they told me too bad. I was embarrassed and upset that I would be treated like this. I have shopped at Norstrom my whole life because I know if there's a problem with the product, I can return it. I was so angry, I called corporate and got a call back from the store manager. She told me I could bring them in for her to look at. So I need to now make more time in my schedule for a personal examination of my shoes by the manager? Awful costumer service! If there is a problem with the product, even if someone tried it on at home- then they should at least assure quality at the store. I don't think I'll ever visit a Nordstrom store again after this. It was possibly my worst shopping experience ever. I was there to return two things and ended up purchasing more for my daughters. One of the cashiers took the longest time to slowly putting things away and while everyone else was waiting in line. Fine, I understand things need to be sorted, but please give a little care while the line was getting out of control. The cashier eventually took me and after I put my things down, I had some returns (MORE PURCHASES), she told me to get out of the line to the return line where I had to wait in line for the second time. I don't like to accuse people for being racist, but after I told her it was wrong to take me after I've waited in line for ever, then send me somewhere else, she gave me the smile like she's got me! I bought a cute black dress that I had planned on wearing for my graduation pictures. However, I ended up finding something else that I liked better from a different store. Today, I went in to return the dress since I would not be using it. Going through the transaction the cashier realized that the tag/description did not match the dress itself. I told her this is exactly how I bought it along with a pair of converse. She called over her supervisor to double check it, doing her job. And I fully applaud her for it because I have worked 6 years in retail and most cashiers do not check the description past "dress" but she saw that the material did not match. She gets 5 stars. But her supervisor gets this 1 star review. After waiting for about 5 minutes she came back and told me she could not take this back because it is not a brand they sell and that their tags can easily be put back on a different dress. Aka she was telling me that I was trying to pass off a dress I got from somewhere else and return it to them for money. I told her I bought it this way. If it was not a dress they sell then why didn't the cashier who checked me out catch that? She again said the same thing. I told her I bought this dress here and I would never, ever to something like that because I have worked retail for a long time. I am terrible at confrontation but I was not going to let someone tell me I was trying to essentially steal from them by returning a different dress. So I ended up speaking to the manager and told her this is how I bought it, I had no idea this was not their dress but I should not have to eat the cost for this mistake. She absolutely agreed and apologized. I got my refund and she thanked me for my patience. She also gets a 5 star review because that's how you take care of a customer when this mistake is fully on them. Whoever did actually return this dress with a Nordstrom tag got away with it and that cashier did not do their job on checking the description, but that is something I would never, ever do. I understand the procedures that happen when someone tries to return something that your store does not carry. However those people usually have a record on file of returning these kinds of things and they also do not wait around for a cashiers supervisor to try to figure out the problem. When a cashier says hey this actually isn't the right item they grab it and leave so they can try some other sucker. Next time that supervisor should've asked for my side of the story and taken care of it instead of telling me how it easy it is to swap tags to a different dress and wasting the store managers time. This is Nordstrom we're talking about, not Ross. If I weren't a broke young adult who could use that $32.29 for my utility bill next month I would've just kept the dress instead of even coming here to return it. Seriously disappointed and probably won't be coming back because I might end up buying something that isn't actually an item they carry and will get accused all over again if I have to return it. read more

Parking is up close and plenty since it is located in a shopping center. Since it just opened everything is neat and nicely organized. I hope it stays this way. Plenty of associates in bright green shirts to help you out. There are a few check out centers besides the main one. The one in the back in the men's section always seems to have no line! I got a great deal on a Tory Burch tote bag and some new sunglasses! I always manage to snag some cute outfits for my kids as well. High quality for low prices is what keeps me coming back! Slowest checkout process. Yesterday at about 5pm, the two cashiers were held up in long transactions with women buying a ton of stuff(not their fault but they can control their pace and address/thank line) and when one of the cashiers called backup it was interesting to see how slowly and careless the backup cashier walked up. Everyone moved at an uncomfortably slow pace with 5 more people standing in line. Woman at checkout asked us 6 times if we want the card "do you have our card? do you want or card? Wouldn't you like one today? Oh you didn't want one? So no on the card?" I didn't like having to say no 6 times. What I would like is to get out of here at a faster pace read more
