Every time I come down to San Diego to visit my daughter, I usually stop by Westfield UTC. I really like this place because it's clean, nice, and there are a lot of food options, so we can just walk around, relax, do a little shopping, and eat all in one area. There are a few restaurants here that I personally like, especially Din Tai Fung and Haidilao. There's also Starbucks and plenty of other spots depending on what you're in the mood for. The whole area just has a comfortable vibe to it compared to a lot of other malls. Parking has honestly never been too difficult for me either. Even when it gets busy, I can usually still find a spot without too much trouble. read more

Apocalyptically awful parking lot! This parking lot is a chaotic, soul-crushing labyrinth that may very well be the single worst design I've encountered in my 79 long, well-traveled years on this planet. Upon entering, you're handed a cheerful little ticket promising a free first hour--how generous! What they don't tell you is that you'll spend roughly two-thirds of that hour trapped in a slow-moving purgatory just trying to escape. You've got about 20 blissful minutes to enjoy yourself before trying to join the line of cars that moves slower than a sloth on melatonin. I genuinely cannot tell if the exit gates are malfunctioning, cursed, or if the drivers ahead of me were participating in some sort of cognitive endurance experiment. Multiple cars took a baffling 4-5 minutes each at the gate--an interaction that should take about 10 seconds unless you're attempting to solve a Rubik's cube while blindfolded. By the time I escaped, I had aged another decade. I will absolutely never return to this parking lot. Bring a helicopter. Hope this helps. read more

It just keeps getting worse... Some of the stores I've liked in the past have gone, the restaurants they bring in are increasingly generic and... there's an hermes store here now? For who? The topper to all this was the fact that apparently jacking rents until only the most expensive stores could be here wasn't enough: they need to charge for parking. So if you stay more than an hour, its $2. Ok who cares...but here's where it gets interesting: what happens when no one is expecting that? oh yeah, everyone gets stuck at the gates. When you do go to pay, it actually doesn't work. So, for an extra hour, they get $2 a car but then you also miss the light? I went to leave on to Genessee and there were cars backed up at every gate. I've noticed it before that the gates don't do the payment transaction well but if its just for 2 hours+, not a big deal. But everyone who goes more than an hour? So basically you can't get a lunch in without getting stuck searching for your ticket and then trying to get their cr*p machine to accept payment. Give it a pass - one day they might figure it out but of course it could work out that it crashes and burns which would be hilarious. read more

Probably the nicest outdoor mall I have been to! Tranquil, pleasant, beautiful and so many place to sit, relax and soak up the San Diego sunshine and enjoy the breezes. It's get busy, but there are many little enclaves and areas to just be and hang out. I also like the stores and shopping here is a lot of fun! One thing that detracts from the joy of UTC, the paid parking. They charge to enter, grab and ticket and within 59 minutes, you owe them money. This feels like a real money grab. It leaves this consumer with not the best feeling. Yes, the mall is top tier for sure, but charging to enter really does take a joy away from the experience. read more

Great mall that offers a premier shopping and dining experience in an open-air setting. The selection of stores is endless, there's something for everyone from luxury brands to essentials and a variety of restaurants, bars and desert shops. One of the perks I love is that there is FREE 2 hour parking which is rare, the mall does get crowded but you usually always find a spot. Great value finds in all the stores and the service is typically very friendly in the stores and out in the open. read more

I actually came here to eat, but decided to walk around after our lunch. Looks can be deceiving. Up front, when walking around, my perception was the mall wasn't very big. It just loops around and that was it. Yeah, I was totally wrong. The mall expands out to luxury shop area, a food court/restaurant area. This place has it all. They have Uniqlo (one of my favorites), Alo, Zara, Pop Mart, car showrooms, Louie V, Hermes, Tiffany, a workout gym, desserts, coffee shops, the list goes on. We ended up walking around for a couple of hours. I was amazed how big it was. This is a mall I liked going to. It had everything. I would come again. read more

Shopping in La Jolla, San Diego, California... La Jolla, in general, is the fancier part of San Diego. I haven't been to its mall, Westfield UTC, so I was curious. My main goal was to visit the Pop Mart which we don't have in Hawai'i. At first, I was surprised at the ticketed parking. I read quickly that the first 2 hours are free, so I browsed the mall quickly. I don't think I finished, but I got a good overview of the type of shops here... they seem more upscale. The restroom was very beautiful and clean! I was quite happy and satisfied with my visit overall! I also was surprised by the Pop Mart vending machine near the water fountains. Westfield UTC is my absolute favorite mall and my go-to when I actually feel like shopping in person! As someone who mostly shops online, this place makes it totally worth the trip outside. This mall is huge with a great mix of stores from luxury brands to affordable faves like Uniqlo, Zara and Alo. The food scene is also no joke with spots like Din Tai Fung, Ramen Nagi and Hai Di Lao plus tons of coffee shops and dessert places too. Besides shopping there's so much to do here like an ice rink, a cinema, cool art installations throughout and plenty of outdoor seating to just chill and relax between stores. You could easily spend a whole day here! Shoutout to the staff too because the bathrooms are always super clean and well kept. You can tell they really stay on top of it which is always a good sign for a busy mall. Parking is available but you do have to pay. Not too expensive but validation would be nice. read more

Can't go wrong coming here when we are in San Diego. You can't really take your time in each store since the parking is unfortunately timed. I believe the gym and the AMC movie theatre helps extend your parking validation from the first free 2 hours, but just note it's an hour more. If you pass it, you pay minimum $3. My boyfriend and I enjoyed several activities this outdoor mall had to offer. The movie theatre is cozy and convenient. The indoor ice rink is available to be viewed in the food court. Ice skating there was fun too! Very dog-friendly with lots of dogs strolling around! There's a mini dog park too, which is very nice. Pretty high-end stores here and lots of additional upscale stores are coming soon to expand the mall even further. I kinda wish there was more restaurants but I doubt they validate. Worthy of La Jolla. First time Doc brought me here. Yelp Elite All Star and Prolific Yelper friend Jackie K messaged me that there was a Pop Mart in San Diego. As soon as Doc finished work we headed to this beautiful mall. Impressive with shops, eateries, play area for kiddies, wonderful place for families, couples and friends to enjoy. The four legged family members were out and about- all pedigreeds, no poi dogs(mixed) Super pet friendly outdoor mall. Gotta make a stop here if visiting La Jolla. My husband and I specifically went to try the Venchi gelato store, and ended up really enjoying walking about this Westfield. This place has plenty of parking, and even if it was busy, it's hard to imagine you wouldn't be able to find parking. The only downside, if it can be considered one, is that it's not an indoor mall. But it has a lot of stores, and an amazing variety. Like most Westfield malls, it has a nice layout with a high standard of decor. This is actually my favorite Westfield mall. There are high, mid, and "low" end stores. There's literally something for everyone. I had a lot of fun just window shopping and checking out stores like the Popmart, Apple story, etc. Enjoyed just walking around watching people, checking out the koi pond, statues, etc. Even on a Friday night, it wasn't that busy either. I would love to come back some day, just to browse around again and maybe try some of the food options here. read more

Parking is free for the first two hours, you'll receive a ticket so be sure to keep it in order to get out. I really love Westfield UTC, everything is spacious and outside, I really love how all the stores are boutiques, stores that are familiar (apple, pacsun, nordstrom, etc), and also luxury stores! Can't believe it was only my first time visiting this mall-it was beautifully decorated for the holidays, and lots of families in the holiday spirit. We came on the weekend, which was perfect because there was tons of activity and special holiday events happening. The mall is also dog-friendly, which I really loved (there's an on site bark park!). There's a great mix of shops - from clothing for men, women, and kids to coffee machines, plus plenty of restaurants and snack spots. Just a heads-up: parking is free for the first two hours, then it's $3 per hour after that. One of the 2 high end mall in San Diego that we frequent to. Parking can be a pain in the butt during holidays but normally,more than enough to accommodate shoppers. Renovations and new shops are continuously being done with more high end brands to come in this 2026. Shops come and go. Turnover is fast,before you know it,one has closed,others have opened. This location is complete...restaurants,food court,movie theater,gym,skating rink and close to a hundred shops. Westfield UTC has plenty of shopping, dining, and entertainment locations to choose from. We swung by to check out the holiday overlay and it was quite busy everywhere. A few of the dining locations have some holiday faire (alcoholic beverages, food, and sweets). This time of the year it is beautiful and festive. I stopped by Melo Melo to pick up (as my daughter would call it) a sweet treat to take home. Their desert are light and refreshing and they have plenty of toppings (I got plain coconut and hers was topped with fresh strawberries). We also stopped by our favorite Corner Bakery to pick up dinner to take home. UTC has options has a little bit of everything from budget friendly to a little more high end but every place we have been to so far has been great. Great, anchor stores, an AMC, and even a Shake Shack! Whatever you need, UTC has it. I think it is a great combination for a mall (all in one!). 1st two hours parking are free, past that there is a small fee. I believe you can get validation if going to the theater as well for a little extra parking time. read more

4+ Large shopping center that's mostly outdoors in a very nice area of San Diego. A lot of the shops are higher end and they also have some newer concepts as well. This place feels kind of like fashion Island in Newport Beach if you're familiar. Based on a sheer size, there is a ton of selection of different retailers and eateries. I think management also does a good job of keeping this place up and clean and well maintained The negative for me personally is the parking. It feels like there's not a lot or enough of parking or maybe I just don't know where a lot of it is, but for me personally finding a spot here on the weekend is anxiety provoking I don't mind walking so I was able to find a corner in a far reach of a parking lot. But it didn't feel convenient. It felt kinda lucky that I found the spot. read more

This is my favorite mall in San Diego. They have a ton of shops, great department stores, and lots of good places to eat. If you live there in the area they also have a 24 hour fitness, and a movie theater. My only gripe is that you have to pay for parking. Having been to the mall shopping and spending time at the theater that UTC has a movie theater by AMC. Customer service At the mall is one that when you come to many stores which arevery expensive and some that you can find the best sales with great bargains. For the new restaurants that had surprised for the great atmosphere the statues of the dolphins in the fountains it was a taste of Hawaii. The new food court of the shopping mall you can find the outdoor eateries and the wine bars of those that have french and American food. The many selections of the food court you can find those of the American and the best in steak and the house made Italian Foods. With the close acess to the trolley to the mall you can park you car at the many blue line stations that the blue line takes you to the mall with the short walk through the parking. With the addition of new bakeries and one of the best French bakeries you can get creme cake slices layered. For the University Town Center Mall it has many surprises with the shopping and the food can be one that is a day you can spend with your family and co workers. As a Yelp Elite Reviewer the UTC MALL has made many changes yet themany stores they had it was time to remodel the mall to welcome companies and new retail stores. Well I will start with the blah it is a ton of construction going on on the premises so beware if you bring the kids or dogs out. The variety of stores is amazing from low to high end you can get it all at this property. The food options are plentiful not to mention the ice rink and movie theater. This mall is very pet friendly a lot of the stores have bowls of water outside for the animals as well. Overall I love how friendly every person that works in every store or kiosk that I have went to while just walking around. Even if it is out of your way it is worth the visit. read more

It's so close to where i live (across the street) so easy to just run over there. i had to run over to the apple store really quick and after i got to sit by the lil fire they have down stairs while waiting for uber! Def recommend but not too safe after about 8pm, so if you're going late, be sure to be aware of your surroundings and try to walk in the middle of the aisle as much as you can. read more

The service here from the staff around the mall to the staff in the stores from restaurants as well as other retailers shops are just incredible. It is very peaceful to shop around. It is an outdoor mall as well so if you get cold, just go ahead and cover up, but overall, it's great to just look around and shop around. read more

Time file, it's 2026 and now I found this review and have this update because the mall now reduced the free parking for only one hour! While UTC mall to open more new stores, but in the same time they change the parking policy in such way, remember they were still had two hours for free parking back in 2019 when they started the new parking policy after four decades of free parking for all day, the reason they gave for the change of the policy not even make any sense at all!! It just means to urge the people to go to Fashion Valley mall instead as they offer free parking and even more parking spaces then UTC mall. What a stupid decision!!! read more

UTC is a beautiful shopping center with great stores and restaurants, but the new one-hour parking limit seriously hurts the experience. The explanation that it's meant to "free up parking" doesn't make sense. I've visited many times and have never had trouble finding a space. There are large parking structures and plenty of available spots, so the problem they claim to be solving doesn't seem to exist. What this policy actually does is make visitors feel rushed. One hour is barely enough time to grab a meal or visit a couple of stores before you're watching the clock. Instead of encouraging people to relax and spend time at the mall, it creates unnecessary pressure. UTC itself is fantastic, but this parking policy feels less about convenience and more about collecting parking fees. A shopping center designed for dining and browsing should give people enough time to actually enjoy being there. I'll gladly change my one-star rating if management pulls their head out of their ass and goes back to two hours free parking. read more

On my recent trip to Oceanside, besides attending a PPA pickleball tournament in San Clemente, I also wanted to visit all 3 Wushiland located in San Diego. My brother and his family, my daughters, and I were on our way to Westfield University Town Center (UTC) in San Diego. It's a humongous outside mall. Lots of great restaurants, shops, and entertainment at your fingertips. I loved the good vibes it gave out. Lots of people here having a great time. My goal was to hit Wushiland. Funny, before reaching Wushiland, we had a yummy dinner at Silverlake Ramen, enjoyed some amazing crepes and ice cream from Crepes Delicious and yes they were very delicious, picked up some Happy Lemon boba drinks, got some tasty Somi Somi taiyakis and yummy ube ice cream, tried BenGong's Tea unique tea drinks, grabbed a box of chocolates truffles and a Love cup from Hanna's Creamery & Cafe all within UTC. If you're wondering... yes, we eventually got to Wushiland LOL... it was a long walk around and pick up as we go journey, but we made it. We also checked out Tesla rides and I scooped up some reusable utensils from Typo and got to stroll through Cotton:On. Staff from the businesses we supported were wonderful. Service was great all around. Value for the eats and drinks was good, too. There's a little of everything for everyone at Westfield UTC! Love this place! I will definitely be back here the next time I'm in the San Diego area. Btw, first two hours of parking is free. You'll have to pay for the additional hours. Don't remember the cost per hour, but our 4+ hours here was $6.00... so maybe $3.00 per additional hour. read more

This is my dog and I's favorite mall, it's so dog friendly and there is abundance of parking I really like coming here. When I was a kid my dad would take us here to go ice skating but we stopped coming when the mall started to look run down, but look at it now. It so beautiful and open spaced and there is huge selection of restaurants and stores at all price ranges. I especially come here to walk my Kodiak because it's just so dog friendly. read more
