There's always something fun going on at this shopping mall...whether it's cultural, live music or a movie premiere. I looove attending them! The staff always have some cool activities for the public to participate in. Importantly, I'm glad to see this mall is going thru some remodeling...it's coming along quite nicely and finally turning around for the better. Thank goodness for this make-over!! A Westfield Mall in Mission Valley. Very different from another one I visited on a previous trip. Came specifically for the currency Exchange booth to get pesos for a 3 day weekend trip to see a concert. My favorite shop here was Sea Hive. It's the only one I actually entered and made purchases at. Laid back vibe with more casually dressed local folks here than the other branch. read more

As the renovations and upgrades continue, I've been here a few times over the few years and have come to enjoy all that it has to offer. With new stores and dining options coming in, foot traffic has increased. The ease of getting in and out of this mall is what makes it a great option to get my retail therapy on. With the theater as another spot to visit, there are many things to see and do here and all in one place. It's great to see the changes. With many value options and a wide selection of shopping options people will definitely find something they will like. Security is present and the service from mall staff is excellent. MISSION VALLEY @ SAN DIEGO This is an OKAY mall. For what it is, it gets the job done if you go to the stores you want you to go to. Don't expect too much, people usually come here for the food, Target, or the cinema. Everything else is eh - it's dirty, some stores are closed/shutdown, and there isn't many efficient parking. I'd definitely recommend going to the side where Cava or Nordstrom rack is where you can find the most traction, people, and good finds. Service is decent in most places, selection can be found better at Fashion Valley. The value itself is good for how close it is to some - but ive always made the drive to Fashion for something better. read more

One of the oldest stores that have been at the mall from the Mission Valley West and the famous home store of Montgomery Wards . With the many malls that are here in San Diego from the indoor malls to those that are inside for one of the best was Horton Plaza that was many levels you could see both sides. Mission Valley Mall is one where you see the many restaurants from the taco bell that many game groups came for dinner and the famous Panera . This mall is struggling to survive, but is holding on compared to its more expensive counter part down the road. I enjoy coming here for collaborative shops and my favorite: Claw Daddy Arcades. Conveniently home to an AMC, Target and Sandbox VR, nights out with friends, families, or dates can be easily hosted in one location. Dining options limited in the immediate mall area, but the surrounding space has plenty of options for dining and shopping. Not sure what construction is going on in the middle of it all, but would like to see more businesses popping up In Here soon. read more

Glimmers of good in a sea of mediocre. The shopping area in Mission Valley spreads across a few areas. There's Mission Valley Mall then the shopping areas across the street housing the Best Buy and the Trader Joes. The Pros: -Great chain dining options. You'll find little unique about the area outside of Havana Grill and Nova Brewing. But the chains they have are great. Who doesn't love Cava, Mendo Farms and Tender Greens?! So convenient and easy to grab and go. -Everything in one: you've got Target and Trader Joe's right across the street from each other. Although technically in walking distance, getting from one place to another is tricky, but they're close enough to make multiple stops. -There are also some specialty stores that can warrant a visit like Best Buy, West Elm or Men's Warehouse. Sometimes, you find yourself in need of stopping at these places and they are conveniently located. The Cons: -There are too many stores that just aren't necessary. Mission Valley Mall, itself, has become sort of a ghost town. There isn't a lot going on. There are few stores worth going to and the ones that are also exist at Fashion Valley. -This area can get highly congested, especially at the intersection area. Going during off peak hours is a must! read more

For some reason this mall has always appeared to get lackluster traffic. It is undergoing construction so hopefully that boosts things. They need to get more tenants in there. A lot of the store fronts are empty making the whole mall seem dead. It's a prime location with ample parking. I'm reviewing Mission Valley East shopping center. It is a ghost of its former self. I've shopped here for nearly five decades, but yesterday was my first time since before pre-COVID. It was a ghost town. Two major stores are gone. Parking lots were empty. 0q As I looked into various shops, there were few shoppers. Even the restaurants were mostly empty. The only store with a good number of shoppers was Target. Westfield sold Mission Valley East in July 2023. The new manager is based in Dallas. As a result of the sale, the Westfield branding has been dropped from the center's name. read more

I missed a decade of shopping here at this local mall when it was at the top of its prime, a lot of stores have come and gone, not the same anymore, Ruby's Tuesday never recovered, JC Penny gone, many favorite restaurants gone, many clothing stores holding special artists events for signings, no longer, many up and coming singers did their mall concerts here, well it has become less and less, I overheard the news that the mall will be replaced with apartments building in the future because they could not afford the lease, so I will enjoy Mission Valley til it lasts read more

We were in San Diego for the day and sadly there's no real place for souvenirs for kids or in general. A friend recommended this all because they have a store with items made by local vendors. So we went to check it out. It's an outdoor mall. They have tons of stuff for kids such as a play area. There's tons of great store with unique items. Definitely check it out! I always now walk and reflect in sadness of what this mall used to be. Back when I was here over 7 years ago, businesses thrived, at times you could hardly walk without bumping into somebody, and I couldn't wait to eat a Ruby's Diner after a movie! Well, at least the theater is still here, but seems of shadow of what it used to be. Mission Vally Mall was the first mall I visited and watched at here in San Diego around 2004. From then on, it became my go-to mall during my various military tours. But that seems over now. There is no food court here (I loved Sarku Japan there and one shop with Indian cuisine), though there are definitely some good restaurants in the area. Let's just say I'm being nostalgic. But after a five-year absence from a pretty thriving mall after I left in 2015, when I returned it seemed an empty shell. And in my times back here, where are the people? Even Santa seems lonely, except for his helpers who are present. But there are still a few decent shopping places here. Nordstrom's and Bloomingdale's are present. I love sporting goods shops and there is a Champs here. PacSun is around still, as is Outback, though I never eat there! Beware of the calories in that bloomin' onion friends! Well, I have to say I still see visions of Mission Valley mall past when I walk around here. Thriving business with lots of people shopping and going to the movies. This doesn't seem nearly happening so much at the present. I hope it's future will be what it once was - some special things you just don't want to let go of. Recommend: MEDIUM read more

This mall is alright; not my favorite but not the worst mall in San Diego. It's located down the street from Fashion Valley mall. This has a variety of affordable stores and plenty of places to eat. There's also a Target and USPS attached to it, making it convenient to run all sorts of errands. I mostly come here for Yard House, Target, and USPS, but will occasionally see a movie at the AMC theater or check out Hot Topic and Comics n Stuff. This mall is fairly busy, but certain areas are completely dead. It's fair to say that this mall is less packed than Fashion Valley during the holiday season. This is a great place to catch a movie and grab lunch, but don't get your hopes up with the selection of stores. I will continue to come here because it's close to my house, but it's not the mall I'd recommend to shop at. read more

Big mall with underground, free parking, in shade. This mall has tons of cool stores and restaurants, as well as lots of seating all around.

YELPers, nostalgic mall admirers, walkers, wish I could give more than three stars I love that it's fairly safe to walk & browse here, really kewl mini dog park (next to former Robinson's-May). Target, Tender Greens & Panera serve as batteries that charge it up. There are a few boutiques left, Francescas is one that doesn't disappoint. I'm not sure why Mission Valley Mall has such a bad rep? Yeah, it's not as fancy as Fashion Valley or UTC, but it does have ample parking, a Target, a Nordstrom Rack, a gym and a movie theatre, plus a good amount of restaurants! I never feel like this mall is over packed, I like coming here, especially when I want to shop in peace. I do wish they had a makeup store but that's really it. read more

I loved this place because I always come here with my little dog to shop but yesterday I was there and the dog park was all closed off. I didn't see any other grassy areas to walk a dog. So if they are removing the dog park I wont shop there anymore. I like the shop at Windsor and I like Panera for food too. If the dog park isn't being updated I probably wont be back again. Hmmm. Off my game. Not realizing I haven't put a review for this mall even though I've come here plenty of times through out the years. What I can say is there is a difference in stores, environment, and people who shop here compared to Fashion Valley (which is right down the road). This mall at times seems a bit cramped for space. During busy days where I'd shop here I'd literally have to dodge other people walking by. Throughout the years plenty of stores and even restaurants (I still miss the Tilted Kilt and even Seau's) have come and gone. Don't know if AMC will survive the CV19 plague as that too may go. To sum it up this mall is OK. I'd still prefer Fashion Valley as it is bigger and has better shopping options IMO (although this mall does have a Target). read more

Westfield Mission valley mall is an airy outdoor shopping center that is near the exit of the freeway and there are loads of other retail stores on both sides of the streets. Parking is super easy and they even have underground parking. When in the area I always go to Fashion valley but on a whim decided to check this mall out for the first time--it has an outlet shopping feel to me. I had parked near Tender greens and Starbucks. The outer portion of the mall was really nice! Once you reach the inner portion of the outdoor mall it appears to look somewhat older. It was late though. Nevertheless, there is a target store inside the mall and they even have a gym for those who come to the mall to workout?!? A huge Christmas tree is in the middle of the mall with a super cute red mail box that read letters for Santa. The mall had a pop up area with lights, a few places to sit, and to simply enjoy the night by the fire. I stumbled upon this lounge area and it quickly became my favorite spot. I snapped a few photos as the letters J-O-Y that had lights that shined ever so nicely. Overall lovely experience! My favorite part was the outer part of the mall and just as you enter nearest the side of Starbucks it has lights up and nice lounge area. Love this mall. Super easy in and out! Used to work at the Gap back in the day but believe it or not we had to shut it down due to the constant stealing. At that time we were having our hours cut as a result & mine went down significantly. Only managers were working full time Only gripe I have about this mall is the parking. If I ever see someone parked in a handicap parking spot with no plaque or plate when the lot is full I will say something. Especially if their car is revving and I've driven around more than a few times looking for a spot. Only reason why I'm bringing this up is because of what happened a few weeks ago. I've only done this 2x and both times the person had some lame excuse as to why they were parked in the first place. This women got really angry super fast and accused me of being a liar because I was able to walk Give me a break lady. Just because you can't see my handicap doesn't mean I'm lying OK. I walked up to her & stayed far back enough for her to be able to hear me. Her window was rolled up. I asked "are you staying or going". She said I just got here and I said Ok but you might wanna put your handicap plaque up so you don't get a ticket. Well that didn't go over so well ;( She got so angry she started yelling at me and saying "You didn't have to come at me like that" she kept repeating this over and over and was getting angrier by the minute. I finally said "Look Lady for someone who's innocent your nasty attitude is proof enough you've taken this spot out of convenience short changing those who do need it". I'm surprised she didn't call me Karen but after she called me a liar I immediately said, "Hey I'll swap out handicaps with you since your doing so much better than I am with your new $80k car while I'm driving a 99' Camry. Just a thought" I just hoped in my car and left the area and parked near the now closed Macys. read more

Just when I thought there might be a redeeming quality to this dead carcass of a mall with electric car chargers, it's $4 bucks an hour to park in the spot plus the cost of the electricity. This place might as well add a Blockbuster video for nostalgic value because no one is going to do that. And if they do, they will vow not to use that charger and actively avoid it after finding out. I really like this mall for three reasons. First, it is not overwhelming huge and over crowded. Second, it is out doors, so is nice to be out on a sunny day, or if it is raining, you definitely wont have to deal with heavy crowds. Lastly, they have just the right amount of stores and restaurants that meet the needs of most people. I thought it was kinda cool the way they have those large size chess boards and play ground for children. The mall also has a lot of seating throughout the mall. Today I visited Target, Ruby Tuesdays, and a small coffee vendor. Nice place. read more

Run-down open-air mall situated on top of a parking garage- convenient but unorganized with extra-small spaces and idiot California drivers making the initial impression pretty negative. Store selection is mostly lower-tier with teen specialty shops like Hot Topic, Charlotte Russe, and the Icing, but there are a handful of nicer boutiques, jewelry stores, and a Frederick's of Hollywood. Your key players are there too: Lane Bryant, Aeropostale, and Victoria's Secret. Throw in a weird tattoo shop for good measure. On the bright side, security was visible throughout our visit and despite the lack of appealing stores, there were quite a few older adults lounging about on the courtyard furniture and playing on the life-size chess board. The movie theater is about the only business you'll spend more than 10 minutes in, and frankly I can't understand why Target is associating itself with such a run-down shopping center. read more

Well, had to get out book a trip to Old Westgate Mission Valley Mall and not much left there regarding stores. Of course the big corporate stores Target and this is still hanging on home store which is my favorite place there. Here are some photos of Windsor, Lane Bryant and I just found out that New York and Company is closing their store but you can go online if you like they're women's clothing. It was pretty hot out there so I had to stop in to Panera and get myself a delicious lemonade Agave drink which was just right not too sweet very cold and refreshing. I grew up here in Southern California and this mall was the first mall that was open. Well, Zales is still open, Panera, Nordy's Rack, Panda Express, Children's Place, BBB and the Yard Restaurant... good beer on tap and great sweet potato fries. I may have missed a few but mostly everything is gone. Walking around there is like a Stranger in a Strange Land. read more

Not a fan of this mall. It is in dire need of a complete tear-down and rebuild. I first came here in the 1960's as a tot. It was pretty "space age" at that time, as I remember it. But time took its toll, and in spite of numerous attempts at remodeling, it was never really rebuilt. A lot of the original architecture remains from the initial build. Today, the mall is pretty tired. In a lot of ways, it has really become kinda ghetto. In spite of increased security, there is a feeling that's hard to describe as you walk around after a movie late at night. And a lot of the business seem to struggle. Because of the value of the real estate here, it will someday be rebuilt. I can't wait. read more

Mission Valley mall has gone downhill considerably over the last few years. I remember this mall being one of the most popular malls in San Diego. A large variety of stores, eateries, and little things in between. Now it's a shell of its former glory. There's a ton of empty spaces where stores used to be. The food court is completely gone which sucks because I thought mission valley had one of the best food courts in San Diego. It smells like pee EVERYWHERE and it seems like the only reason people still go there is because there's a few big name restaurants, Target and AMC. It gives me kind of a sad feeling when I see the mall like this because as a kid, teenager and even young adult it was very different. Much more colorful and lively. Something that I thought would be a constant about San Diego. Things change though and I'm okay with that. Hopefully it returns to its former glory one day. If it ends up like Horton Plaza though then hopefully the city can eventually utilize the space for something better. read more

I needed to charge my phone in order to get on the bus (the San Diego busses use an app for fare). I walked by three outside seating areas with plugs and none of the plugs were powered. By the restrooms, I found a family area with 5 or so breastfeeding areas. It was empty so when I sat down to change my phone, I was not displacing anyone or disturbing anyone. About five minutes later this kind security guard tells me I cannot be there. I was dressed decently, hair done, etc - obviously not moving in. I asked for just ten more minutes and she agreed. Then she radioed in to the office (I guess? Big brother?) and they said no. WTH? So much for customer service or reasonable treatment. The place has lost any business I may have given them and the stores in this mall. read more

This mall has everything including a small dog park! The five of us spent hours doing Christmas shopping and we took breaks with the dogs at the dog park. All five of us needed to go to different stores and the small had all of them. My daughter and I wanted to shop at target. She also wanted to shop at hot topic and spencers. The boys wanted to shop at footlocker and Zumiez. The place is really well designed and we had a great time. We also got all of our shopping done at one mall which is pretty miraculous. I only came here to visit one store only and that was to see how the Bloomingdale's Outlet store was. Any mall that has a Target in it, isn't normally my preferred type of mall personally. In the parking lot I was in it had THE NARROWEST aisles I've ever seen for any public establishment. You have to be careful driving through them. There's no room for error. There's definitely plenty of awesome stores here to keep your mind busy for hours which is one of the reasons why love this mall , Including something that I find really awesome which is a massive game of chess each piece is around 2 1/2 feet tall, it always brings people from all around to watch and to play. And Christmas they always have a massive gigantic tree which is done beautifully. They have plenty of yummy food to choose from, candy stores, and plenty of clothing and shoe shops to stroll through. There's pretty much a little bit of everything here including some nice restaurants is well and places that offer some decent beer, which I'm always on the lookout for. The hours are different here then the movie theater So be aware that if you're looking to come late night they may be closed I believe they close around 8 o'clock . This is for Lens Crafters in the mall..... This store is great. At first I had horrible experience here. As time went on though, the workers seemed to be more receptive to my needs. There is one lady in particular who is just so very nice. She treats all people good. She has really been a refreshing sight to see and interact with. I forgot her name but if you meet her you'll know. Just great at treating the customers well and really trying and wanting to help with your eye issues.
