Lower (East) Parking Lot
Norbert K.

La Jolla Village Square is a rather tired shopping center these days with a good number of vacant stores. It sits on two levels with underground parking, above ground parking lots, and a new parking structure shared with the Nobel Drive San Diego Trolley station. The upper (west) level is dominated by a Ralphs and a Trader Joe's. Parking on this level is rather screwy and tight. The lower (east) level has multiple discount stores Marshalls, Ross, World Market, DSW, and others, along with fast food and casual dining. There's an AMC theater inside on the lower level. Indoor storefronts tend to be personal and professional services, but the indoor part of this center is rather dead. Twenty years ago, this was a bustling place. I hope the Trolley Station can help bring back some life.

I usually leave the car at home and take the Amtrak down to San Diego these days. With the finishing of the northern section of the UC San Diego blue line trolley, I finally get to revisit some of my old stomping grounds in the La Jolla area with relative ease. Back in June, I hopped on the blue line trolley and got off here at the Nobel Drive Station. That afternoon, I visited Chipotle, the AMC La Jolla 12, and Starbucks. It was a nice change of scenery as the downtown area has gotten worse throughout the years.

Finally, something worthwhile coming to LJVS!

La Jolla Village Square was never a good mall, even when they had Tower Records. I'll admit that I used to be a regular at AMC and the Sports City Brewery on the second floor. That was a long time ago, and this place just doesn't do anything for me anymore. Okay, something good. - The view of the Mormon Temple - Ralphs - Urban Plates moving in. Complete insanity. - Parking. - Schlotzsky's? Bahahah There are so many reasons NOT to come to this mall but Urban Plates isn't one of them.

All the decorations in December are blue and white. Both trees are blue and white, presents blue and white. Wall sconce, elevator blue and white. No red or green anywhere. Everything blue and white. Why is that?

Worst.Parking.Ever. Completely blocked me in. (note lane line)

This shopping center has the WORST parking/parkers I have ever seen. Ever. A few months ago I was completely blocked in by someone who literally parks like an idiot (I'd use a different word, but trying to keep it G-rated). See picture. Today, a woman rear-ended me. When I pulled over to park and look at my bumper she kept on driving. Really? How is that okay? If this shopping center wasn't so conveniently located near where I live I would avoid it like the plague. I recommend parking far away from everyone else and staying away from the main road that runs closest to the stores and restaurants.

Basic shopping center with fairly easy parking. The retail stores have average stock, but good to browse.

This place is always over-crowded and the parking lot is a nightmare. Since they added the train station it's only gotten worse.

Nice place to shop. It's quiet but if you can look past that it has a lot of the places you normally need for shopping.

I really…read morelike this place because it's clean, nice, and there are a lot of food options, so we can just walk around, relax, do a little shopping, and eat all in one area. There are a few restaurants here that I personally like, especially Din Tai Fung and Haidilao. There's also Starbucks and plenty of other spots depending on what you're in the mood for. The whole area just has a comfortable vibe to it compared to a lot of other malls. Parking has honestly never been too difficult for me either. Even when it gets busy, I can usually still find a spot without too much trouble.

Apocalyptically awful parking lot!…read more This parking lot is a chaotic, soul-crushing labyrinth that may very well be the single worst design I've encountered in my 79 long, well-traveled years on this planet. Upon entering, you're handed a cheerful little ticket promising a free first hour--how generous! What they don't tell you is that you'll spend roughly two-thirds of that hour trapped in a slow-moving purgatory just trying to escape. You've got about 20 blissful minutes to enjoy yourself before trying to join the line of cars that moves slower than a sloth on melatonin. I genuinely cannot tell if the exit gates are malfunctioning, cursed, or if the drivers ahead of me were participating in some sort of cognitive endurance experiment. Multiple cars took a baffling 4-5 minutes each at the gate--an interaction that should take about 10 seconds unless you're attempting to solve a Rubik's cube while blindfolded. By the time I escaped, I had aged another decade. I will absolutely never return to this parking lot. Bring a helicopter. Hope this helps.

The campus isn't kept as clean as it used to be. The center now has several closed storefronts. A lot of them have been closed for several years. The Coco's has been closed for almost a decade. It's ironic considering the newly upgraded UTC mall is literally across the street. So is the new trolley line. That never used to be the case. When Albertson's left, Bristol Farms moved right in. Chipotle and Five Guys ended up being great additions to the center. Roy's was the last "anchor" business to leave the center. It was fairly recent, but I doubt there are plans to replace it. It makes me wonder if the center is going to close down, and is just waiting for the leases of the remaining businesses to run out.

The downside being honest is the parking, usually I find a spot somewhat easily but especially around lunchtime it does get very busy and you may be driving in circles looking for a spot or someone to leave, the good side of that is people come and go somewhat quickly there so spots become available on a regular basis. Overall this place is very clean And offers a bite of shopping while you grab a bite as well !

CONVENIENT (4 stars)…read more Clairemont Town Square?! lol. It deserves a yelp review. It has all the basic necessities! Sure, it's just a plaza but a plaza with much potential. Perfect for a local neighborhood plaza with grocery store, banks, some simple shopping, few chain eateries, a boba shop, etc. I can invision this plaza glowing up in the next several years as the neighborhood becomes more appreciated in value thru the coming years. What I like the most were the two banks I use literally near/next to each other - convenient to make physical transfers. Basic shopping for food or to grab a bite to eat after simple errands. Call me old, but I appreciate the convenience of everything being close by and all in the same area. Until the next visit...

We are early in the process, so I was hoping to try on different styles to get a sense of my preferences. But after trying on just a couple rings there was no effort to understand my priorities or suggest alternatives. I felt like I had to push just to see more options. Our 2PM appointment was essentially over by 2:05PM. I left feeling sad and disappointed that such an important and special moment was handled with so little care. I was looking for Dolce & Gabbana cologne for my husband ( I recommend the scent called , The One) and was greeted by such a lovely and professional young man.
