As this is a COVID review, very unfortunately I have to say that every time I pass by Marine Layer in UTC they're never open, which makes me afraid that they're closing the location, but I honestly understand since the store is a teeny little one & it's just not safe for their sales associates at the moment. The clothing quality: Really cannot beat what they offer here. When they say that their clothing is soft, it not only is soft, but remains soft after repeated washes and wears. Their double knit henleys get worn as pajamas, washed HOT and thrown in the dryer and they're still as soft as the day I bought them; their dresses and t-shirts haven't shrunk or pilled and are also still as soft as the day I bought them. I really can't stress how impressed I am with Marine Layer's quality. The fabrics are thick and cottony, usually higher quality versions of common synthetics, and luxuriously thick. The customer service: Marine Layer has one of the best return policies I've ever seen, hands down-- I believe it's up to a year and even if washed, which honestly says a lot about their confidence in their product. It's no Nordstrom's or AE, who have unlimited return timeframes, but honestly probably for the best as Marine Layer isn't backed by a gigantic corporation. (And this is just speaking for myself, but I haven't gotten any reasons to return their products, so I would never take advantage of their generous return policy anyhow!) Speaking for the UTC location specifically, one of the managers honestly is just the most gracious person. There are many instances where I've seen her kindness and friendliness towards not only myself but other customers. I just wish I could remember her name! On my most recent visit, I checked in for a 6 PM appointment, was told it would be "about five minutes," then sat waiting while the store was relatively quiet. Once I was finally brought back, I was told the sales associate I had been booked with was unavailable and someone else would step in while she finished another fitting. Then I sat in the fitting room alone for another several minutes with nobody assisting me. The first experience was somehow worse. I checked in, waited, then eventually decided to reschedule because it was obvious the store was overwhelmed. During that process, the employee helping me repeatedly forgot my name despite already checking me in multiple times. Earlier during that same visit, another associate had forgotten the suit sizes, colors, and event deadlines I had already explained. What's frustrating is that this isn't a budget suit shop trying to survive high volume traffic. SuitSupply presents itself as a premium experience, and at these price points, basic organization, punctuality, and attentiveness should be expected. I genuinely like the suits, which makes this even more disappointing. But after multiple appointments with the same issues, the service feels disorganized, inattentive, and far below the standard the brand projects.

Did you know Seven for Mankind is the sister/parent company of Spendid. They car Seven for Mankind at this store as well. There was a 50% off sale (certain full price clothes) and an additional 30% off select sale items. I was surprised by a decent selection of sale items. The girls were SO helpful. The dressing room I had was nicely lit and spacious. I ended up buying the full price items minus 50%. But, the shorts were still hella expensive at half price. I think they were the collectors version of the brand or something? They were so comfortable and flattering though. I bought them because they weren't final sale (unlike the additional 30% off items). So hopefully the items work out!
