One of the worst experiences I ever had. Pushed junk on me. Rude salespeople. When I finally found something, they told me I couldn't take it, they would mail it to me. Where do I start. From the moment I walked in the place felt like a pushy used car lot. First off, the salespeople start condescendingly explaining how it works here. Basically you pick out clothes and then they order them online for you. Okay, fine, not ideal but I'm there so may as well try some clothes on. Then, I try to explain my shirt size, multiple times, each time to be condescendingly cut off and told, don't worry, we will measure you. Again, fine. So I tell them my shirt size anyway - 17 (neck), 36/37 - normally for most dress shirts anyway, and then the guy there measures me and again, condescendingly (as everything was) says 16.5 for my neck and whatever he said for the rest. Then he goes to get the shirt I wanted to try on. It's way too tight and too short. Wow, shocker! Then he gets the shirt in the size I told him from the beginning. Fits perfectly! Wow!!! Thanks for the "expertise!" Then as we are leaving we explain we will just buy it online because it's half the price there and they say well it would help the store if you bought it through us. Now that's funny - not just that we would want to help a store that sucks this bad at customer service but also pay twice as much for it when all they do is order it online for you anyway. Horrific customer service. My husband has various pieces from this place and came in with a list thinking I could buy it. To set the scene. I have my one year old in the stroller, struggled to open the door and finally made it in. The male sales associate (dark hair, mustache), was on his phone and glanced up and continued to let me struggle (ok, fine, can't expect everyone to be a gentleman). I ask if I could buy the stuff on my list and he says this is a showroom and you can purchase online. Didn't even offer to help. Then went on to look down on his phone browsing the internet or whatever he was doing. I said "ok, thanks", and struggle again to open their heavy huge door and he glances up once and again glances down to his phone. No help. They need to train their employees on customer service. read more

This is not a store where you can buy stuff and walk out with it. It is a showroom where you can try stuff and have it ordered. Was unaware, but that was no big deal. I walked in and honestly I looked horrible (this might be relevant, might not). I was the only one in the store and the guy behind the counter looked up for a bit and did not say anything. I do not particularly care about that but then some other individuals walked in a minute after and he was super friendly. Weird. Anyways, as I mentioned I looked like crap, I needed help. I went to the guy and asked him some very basic questions to which he almost made a terrible face and gave me a couple one-word answers. Not helpful at all but oh well. But he was all over the other people asking them questions, offering this and that. I am not one to complain and I may be overthinking this. However, this was the weirdest experience I have had in a retail store. Especially for a brand that you would consider fancy, that is pretty terrible. Store associates patronizing, unhelpful. The store associate who helped me seemed to think I was familiar with the concept of a showroom in asking to see how different styles fit. I was given incorrect sizes and given conflicting counsel on the difference between athletic and straight fits between the denim and the chinos. The worst part was the gaslighting that it my fault that I asked for the wrong sizes. I probably would have purchased a wardrobe refresh if it weren't for the offputting nature of the associate. Not really sure what the point of this "guide shop" is. I went in to get a suit for a wedding. No measuring tapes in sight - the "guide" just asked me what size jacket I was and when I told him I did not know he took a guess. He then told me I would have to go to a tailor to have the pants hemmed at an additional cost. Once we got to the register he was unable to locate my discount code for the wedding party that I was previously told was on file. On top of all of this, I was handed an iPad and asked to create an account and fill in all of my shipping information - something I could have done from my couch. I paid what I was told was a great price and went on my way. The next day I received an automated email saying that my order had been cancelled because the item was no longer in stock. I'm not sure why it let me order it in the first place if this was the case. Since my "guide" obviously did not know this happened I emailed him and asked what my options were. He told me I needed to add my CC info to my account and that he would order the pants for me when they were back in stock. I did so and was happy to see them ordered the next day. But no, it doesn't end there. Upon closer inspection I was charged full price and the pants were a different cut than I tried on in the store. I ended up just returning the pants on my own and ordering the correct item. I somehow accomplished all of this without a "guide" and if you have your own measuring tape I would recommend you do the same. read more

From the moment we walked into the store, our experience was smooth and easy from start to finish- perhaps this had something to do with the fact that my husband's size and fit were saved on his account, which I highly recommend for a speedy store experience. It was also most helpful to see the various options in store, which also made our experience effortless. The staff was friendly and made us comfortable - we personally worked with Kyle - his extensive knowledge of the product and styling options, as well as his ease of being with my husband (who isn't a fan of shopping in store generally) made it a pleasant experience for my husband who now, dare I say, is looking forward to his next shopping experience- at Bonobos. read more

My husband has liked Bonobos for a while and bought a lot more stuff from them in like 2015 or so. I wanted to get him a pair of their new pants for our anniversary. While the store itself is nice and clean, the guy working was not helpful at all. He seemed very bored with his job and didn't get up from the front desk once to help us out. This was around 4pm on a Thursday (didn't catch his name). But the real annoyance was when he accidentally sent the receipt to my husband's email (because we pulled up his existing account to look for his size) after I said it was a gift. There goes my anniversary surprise! I also needed to order a different size which he pushed back on (people change sizes in 5+ years) and I needed to update my address, which he completely forgot to ask. We had to go back into the order once it was placed and change it. 3 stars because maybe it was just an off day and I do like the Bonobos brand, but I might just stick with buying online. read more

I have always had a great experience at this store. The customer service and the great selection of clothing make this store stand out. This is a guideshop, which means that you can try on the clothing for fit, order and then it is shipped to your home from their warehouse. Ruth has assisted me several times with purchases and helped follow up with anything that needed attention and I receive emails periodically about upcoming sales. I find that the clothing fits well and looks good! read more

So the store isn't a normal store, it'd a showroom do you would get your items delivered but items do ship fast. Went in for my first tuxedo and got what I needed in less than an hour. The sale associates are super friendly and make you feel welcome. They also have military discounts which helps tremoundlsy. There is also a great selection of suits and tuxedos. 10/10 would recommend and I will be going back for another suit in the future. read more

I have never encountered such disappointing staff. When my friend and I went to check out the place, we were excited. We looked over the catalogues, admired the shirt designs as well as the stylish jacket selection. However, after being in the store for less than 5 minutes, a staff member with dreads asked if we were going to buy something. When we said that we were just looking, he continued to pressure us to essentially buy something or leave. We felt very uncomfortable, so we did. Moments later, I returned to confront the staff member about how unhappy we were with the treatment we received. He told me that we were "Not moving fast enough" and that this was "Not a place to lounge about." Lounge about? We were looking around for less than 5 minutes. Fortunately, his manager was there to apologize on his behalf. Quite frankly, I was appalled. People should be allowed to peruse clothing at their leisure and I will not be back. There are plenty of other clothing shops in UTC with thoughtful, considerate staff. read more

Funny story: just found out Bonobos was purchased by Walmart some time ago. So, I purchased a $100 pair of pants, wore them 2X and the button fell off. No big deal, I just sewed it back on, however I was somewhat surprised that this would occur so quickly. I am sure this was a fluke so I will buy something else. read more

Ok so the concept of this "store" is pretty weird, but their clothes fit my fiance so well that it's sometimes worth the splurge! You can't really buy anything in here though, it's more of a showroom. The people who work here are incredibly friendly and they'll order your items online to be shipped to your home. When they offer you something to drink like water, soda, beer... definitely take them up on the beer--you won't be disappointed! They totally made my day. read more

The customer service here is terrible. I walked in because I was looking for a shirt for an upcoming party. I walked into one of these stores in Scottsdale, AZ and had an amazing experience, the gentleman who helped me was great and I was hoping to get a similar experience. The people at THIS store told me they had no inventory and everything had to be ordered online. The shipping dates didnt work and so I decided to leave. The way out I told my fiancé "thats weird the guy in Scottsdale had multiple shirts for me to try on" and one of the employees, a heavy guy, starts pointing and laughing at us saying "he told you he had sizes and still ordered for you!?" Like it was hysterical that a employee from this company had lied to me and sold me. I highly doubt that was the case because the gentleman in Scottsdale was attentive and helpful, but these guy in La Jolla was just terrible. Doesn't surprise me from someone who was sitting around the store not doing much. Needless to say I wont be walking in there again. read more

I wanted to write to thank Vlad at the La Jolla Village UTC Westfield Store in La Jolla, CA for his amazing service and dedication to the Bonobos. My older brother, John passed away at 28 last month. This was difficult for me, as I'm sure anyone who has lost a sibling knows. I spent my Sunday trying to find a black suit in the luxurious UTC Westfield expecting to find high-quality customer service. I was met with disappointment store after store with inattentiveness and the lack of product and availability from some stores. I walked past Bonobos an hour before the mall's closing and decided to see if they could help. When I walked in, I was met with Vlad who was extremely attentive and helpful. He fit me for a suit and was very empathetic of my situation. He asked about my brother after mentioning it and he understood the importance of my suit showing up immediately and being well-fitted. He was wearing the exact suit type that I ended up getting. The suit was 97% wool. He helped me overnight the suit here and he found a tailor. The suit jacket fit perfectly and the pants needed to be hemmed obviously but that was it. Vlad called me the day before my brother's funeral and left a message offering his condolences. It was extremely heartfelt and sincere. I am truly grateful that he took the time to care and be attentive. I feel like I have gained a friend at Bonobos and am now a lifelong customer of Bonobos. I can't thank Vlad enough for his help and Bonobos for their wonderful suits. You could not have a better face of the company than this gentleman. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I went in this store with my husband and there was no one else in the store and they completely ignored us. Someone was at the desk but he just continued working on his tablet while we were standing there. He did not asked to help us or say please wait a minute while I finish up some work here. Instead, we were just completely ignored.I guess if you are not white this is what happens in a store like this. Please give your business to another place which respects the customer. read more

Love Bonobos, the concept takes some time to get used to, we are so used to instant gratification, why buy in a store to have it shipped? I want to preface this review by saying that I have never written a bad review online. I am not the type to take things personally, and appreciate that employees who work in retail and customer service often have a very difficult job dealing with rude clientele. However, my experience today at Bonobos flew so blatantly in the face of customer service norms that I feel the need to share what happened. This afternoon my friend and I walked into Bonobos at UTC mall and began to browse the clothing selection. Very quickly, an employee approached us and cordially asked if we needed help finding anything. We thanked him, but told him that we wanted to look around for a bit first. A few minutes later, I heard the same employee ask something along the lines of, "are you guys shopping or are you just hanging around?" My friend and I looked up in disbelief, then looked around to see if he was speaking to someone else. Seeing our confused looks, he said, "yeah, you guys." At that point, my friend and I told him that we were leaving, and immediately walked out. We had spent no longer than a few minutes inside the store. Frustrated, my friend and I discussed the issue outside, and he decided to go back in and respectfully tell the employee how he felt. The employee told my friend (and I am paraphrasing), "you were not moving fast enough" and that "this is a business, not a place to lounge about". The manager came over to offer my friend an apology, and said that he had spoken with the employee immediately after we had left the store. My friend felt that the employee continued to defend his actions, and did not offer a sincere apology, even after the manager apologized on his behalf. I think that under certain circumstances, the employee's response might have been reasonable. Had we spent longer than twenty minutes in the store without making a purchase, or rifled through clothing items and made a mess, I would have understood this response. Had we been loud, obnoxious, or harassed other customers, I would have understood this response. Had we asked for his assistance and taken up his time in helping us try on numerous clothing items, then left without making a purchase, I would have understood. But we did none of these things. We browsed the clothing for a few minutes, pointing out items that we liked in friendly conversation. Because of our experience, neither I, nor anyone in my immediate network of friends, family, and coworkers will ever purchase from the Bonobos store or website. This is unfortunate, because I really do like their clothing and think they have an incredible brand. Had I felt comfortable spending more time inside the store, I might have purchased something. However, there are plenty of other stores in UTC that sell high quality clothing where I feel more comfortable and welcome to browse the merchandise. read more

Genuinely uninformed staff. I went in to try on some sport coats yesterday on the way to run another errand and the staff literally knew nothing about how tailored clothing is supposed to fit. I asked for jackets in long sizes (I know my measurements and what works for me) and the guy working there literally told me that a regular length in the next size up would fit properly. That's absurd and incorrect and demonstrates a true lack of knowledge about their own product and tailored men's clothing in general. Also, I used to be a Bonobos customer back in 2011-ish, and the quality has gone startlingly downhill. Thoroughly disappointing all around. read more

Bonobos as a brand is awesome. They quickly became my go-to online store for buying shirts I know will fit well and look good. The UTC store is an interesting concept -- you can try on clothes, but for most part you must order the pieces you like and receive them in the mail later. What makes this store special is the excellent customer service. I got the suit for my wedding through this store, and Dayna did an amazing job helping me out. She answered countless questions, re-ordered items for me at no cost, kept up a quick online communication, and helped guide me on accessories and options for my groomsmen. Throughout the experience I could tell that Dayna truly cared, and wanted to make sure I was 110% satisfied with the suit. With her help, I was able to get my suit, groomsmen suits, and accessories totally dialed in and looking fly. I was extremely impressed with Dayna, as well as the quality of the suit. I haven't experienced this level of customer service and care elsewhere. read more

I recently visited a the UTC guide shop and realized how much better it was to see all of their items in person. I love all the sizing options and the staff was so helpful in assisting me to find the right gifts. They also offered to help me make future purchases over the phone with their guidance so I don't have to navigate the website alone. Ever since I was introduced to Bonobos about 2 years ago I've been hooked and spent way too much money here, sometimes I wish I didn't know about them for that reason, but oh well. Most of the clothes I used to buy elsewhere would fit ok, they weren't great but not horrible, then I started coming here and it was like oh man, apparently this is how clothes should fit on you. I'm like 6'1", 165 lbs which is somewhat normal proportions and everything here fits like it should. I usually go for the slim stuff, looks awesome on and the fabric is killer. Plus they have all these cool prints on the shirts, there's always something new and funky and you probably won't see anyone else with it. Their summer weight shirts and pants are where it's at too, they're light weight and perfect for when it's warm, which is like all the time here so really they're good year round. People who work here are really helpful too, plus they offer you a beer while you're shopping, never taken them up on it but I like the idea! read more

Went in to determine my sizing in their brand. After telling the attendant what my typical size is, I expected them to give me all the different "fits" and nearest sizes so I could be sure I was getting the best possible fit. But instead, they only gave me one article of clothing to try on at a time. I had to chase down the attendant, just to keep asking for different sizes/fits. For a store that exists for the sole purpose of allowing customers to test clothing, they sure do a poor job of it. But at least the attendant recognized me on my second visit. I made an appointment to be measured for a suit and received excellent service from Austin and Richard. Not only were they super-knowledgeable but also very friendly and had some great advice. I left the store a very happy customer after placing the order for not just the suit but also a bunch of shirts. I'll certainly be back again soon for more great help and advice.
