Carlos was completely different. From the moment he arrived, it was clear he wasn't a salesperson -- he's an engineer, and it shows. He took the time to deeply understand my system, reviewed actual spec sheets on the spot, and immediately identified issues that other contractors completely missed. Multiple companies told me Hyundai panels would work fine. Carlos checked the amperage limits, applied proper safety margin calculations, and clearly explained why those panels would not work with my EcoFlow system -- saving me from a costly mistake. It's a nerve wracking process but Ryan gave me reassurance things would go well. Upon Ryan's recommendation, we also decided to replace the solar panel racking system installed by Sunrun because we were plagued with roof leaks due to improper sealing of their footings. Ryan and the Northstar team were absolute champs at removing and reinstalling the new system for us. Everyone we dealt with was so professional, kind and easy going. The work was beautifully done and based on all the photos and detail provided by Ryan I am confident we will be safe from leaks going forward. He also had to coordinate the reinstall with our roofer and everyone handled it so well. I 100% recommend Northstar and the team for this task, and also wouldn't hesitate to hire them for roofing based on their strong work ethic and product with our solar project. These guys handled the installation of the panel and conduit to my Tesla powerwall. The images say…read moreall that needs to be said about the quality of their work. They lied to me when they said running the conduit through the attic would be impossible (as originally planned) on the day of installation. They said they will have to wrap it around the outside of the house and not to worry about it because it'll be hardly noticeable. I took their word for it, but figured they would have at least done a professional job and ran the conduit along the roof instead of in plain sight. They didn't even attempt to install it correctly. What's worse is that they stand by their work. I've been dealing with Tesla support to resolve this matter and these guys decided to go silent. It's been 4 months since I originally filed the complaint, right after it was installed, requesting that they install it properly. If you consider hiring them for your solar/powerwall installation needs, just know that they stand by their work highlighted in these photos. Needless to say, they like to cut corners. Speaking of cutting corners, I highly advise that if for whatever reason you decide to work with them, that you hire an independent electrician to audit their work. They effectively derated my system by putting everything behind a 90 amp breaker, even though in the permit (which I had to fetch myself from the city) it clearly stated there was to be no main rerate. You can't trust the city/county inspectors, because they say it and passed it. No one advised me that they derated my system.
