On site, the design and install team did a great job keeping things simple. The entire system, including battery and thirteen panels, was installed according to Ramiros's expert design within just four hours. Good quality hardware was used to tie to the roof, which was inspected by our roofer and given a big thumbs up for not causing problems. But even before that, David our site survey tech, gave us the sense that all would proceed well, as he collected necessary data by drone, and made a favorable first impression with his personable approach. Toward the end of the multi-month process, which included time to get a new roof installed, we passed city inspection with YES tech, Dario, an extremely courteous young man, present to ensure we made it through that last step and PTO (permission to operate). YES has an excellent and well-deserved reputation because of these people and others who worked on our behalf. The company can do better automating some of the process, and to be fair, they say they are working on transitioning to a CRM software solution for this purpose. But, I can say that over a period of several months, I had excellent communication with many helpful people. Skyler in customer service was my primary contact and that made all the difference. I had a frustrating experience with Your Energy Solutions regarding a warranty transfer. We were later charged $500 with no prior breakdown or explanation of the fee. I clearly communicated that I would be the one paying this charge. Despite that, the service department reached out directly to the buyer and asked who would be paying. This unnecessary contact created confusion and complications during the escrow process that could have easily been avoided. The lack of transparency on the warranty transfer fee and the poor internal communication caused more stress than necessary. Businesses handling real estate-related services should be more careful with both contract clarity and how they communicate with parties involved in a transaction.

PG&E was very slow with providing PTO (permission To Operate). We did not receive PTO until end of May 2026, over 6 months from the date when system was operational. PG&E will need to upgrade transformer (December ???) before we can send greater that 2000 watts back to the system. Right now, we have conditional permission to operate, limiting output to PG&E to 2.2 KW. To United Solar Electric's credit, they were with us the entire time dealing with PG&E and were just as irate with PG&E as we were. Thank you, United Solar Electric!

It was a high-pressure situation where we felt they were trying to lock us into a contract we weren't comfortable with. While we did eventually receive our deposit back after pushing the issue, the initial refusal to return funds for work not performed was a major red flag. Homeowners should be very careful with the fine print here. If you are looking for a company that values transparency and customer comfort over just 'closing the deal,' I would suggest looking elsewhere. We're glad we didn't get stuck with them and are instead putting that money into improvements that actually fit our home.

When the team arrived I was not home but I received a text from Keith, the owner of Power Solar structures letting me know he was familiar with these roof mounts. Keith suggested that because it was an old Solar City system installed before hardly anyone ever needed removal and reinstall, my contract probably showed TESLA would be obligated to remove and replace the 20 panels for only $500 total. I proceeded to check my original contract and sure enough, it absolutely showed 499 rather than $6000. Apparently, this changed shortly after Tesla bought SolarCity. I texted him back thanking him for his honesty which I've never doubted and as I've worked with Keith before and can vouch for his complete honesty--sometimes brutally so. If only all solar contractors were this trustworthy. Tesla won't be doing it anywhere near as promptly, but I can put a tarp over the panels for a couple months to save a net $5,500. I even reinstalled my previous router with no luck. Short story, I called Semper Solaris and they schedule me a technician for a whopping $500 service fee upfront without even diagnosing the problem. Not covered by warranty and per their management about waving the fee or reducing the fee, "Sorry, nothing they could do." I cancelled the technician.
