I found the food at Noodlebox really bland. It's also really overpriced for you get. You'll get mostly noodles with a very small amount of meat and or vegies. The few dishes I've tried were either extremely subtle in flavor or way too sweet. I give up on Noodlebox. I recommend Freshbowl right around the corner from Noodlebox on Cambie. First came here last year. My friend and I arrived about an hour before our movie at the nearby 5th avenue theatre thinking this would be plenty of time to get fast food and head over to the theatre. We ordered our food and my friend got his food about 20 minutes later. I didn't end up getting mine till about 50 minutes after, which is insane. At one point, a couple who ordered after us had got their food before us and we brought this up to the cashier who just gave us a coupon for a free dish as a sorry, which doesn't really do much for us. I ended up having to shovel as much food as I could and throwing away about half because we were going to be late for the movie. Despite the insane wait the first time, we thought we'd give this place one more try a few months ago, again arriving about an hour before a movie at 5th avenue. Again, we ended up waiting over 45 minutes and had to shovel as much food as we could and throwing away a significant amount because we were late. I got my dish first - probably 40 minutes after we ordered. I had to share with my friend cause he was starving, before he got his food about 10 minutes after mine. What is this?? It felt like being in some bizarre nightmare. We were so irritated, and went to explain to the cashier that we'd waited so long. She was very nice and understanding about it, and gave us two more free coupons for food - which if I ever had an extra 2 hours to spare or something I could come back. I mean, if I wanted to wait this long for food I'd go to a proper restaurant. She also told us to try the other locations as this one was apparently the worst. Not very reassuring. The food itself is alright- I find genuine Chinese/Thai restaurants to be cheaper and better. Overall, so disappointing, and overpriced. Sad. read more

The food is always great but it was the service that blew me away. My wife had left left her wallet in the car while I looked for parking. Friday eve on 4th doesn't offer a lot in the way of free spots so I was a ways away. By the time I had got there Nate from Noodlebox had out takeouts ready to go. My coworkers and I came here for lunch this afternoon. I was a little skeptical at first as I hadn't been here in years and had read the mediocre reviews here on Yelp. However, our experience was great! I feel like portions have definitely decreased over the years - I used to have difficulties finishing my box but now, it was enough to satisfy my hunger without overindulging. Our food came within ten minutes of ordering which was great given that we were on a one hour lunch break. However, for one of my coworkers, another customer mistakenly picked up his order by accident so he had to wait an additional 10 minutes. To compensate, the staff asked if he would like to have an extra noodle box prepared for him to take home for dinner/to give to someone else. We thought that was a very kind gesture, especially given that this was initiated by the staff. I would definitely come back here again! Prices are a little steep though... read more

Down Hill.. My husband and I been die-hard fans of Black Bean Garlic + Chicken - Medium for me, Mild Plus for him - for over 2 years. And at least 2 times a week, my husband and I order take out (he gets his with rice).. It started 2 months ago when we noticed, our orders getting messed up - I end up with no heat, he ends up with too much heat... his rice is dry.. my noodles are Chow Mein.. and Honest! We found metal shavings in our meals last week. Being a fan, I called it and explained that we really love this food and this particular location has always served us well, but something is dragging this location down. This week's pick up - My husbands order with rice: Rice under cooked crisp! My noodles are "al dente!" and to top it all off, no chicken in the Black Bean Garlic Chicken! The veggie to meat to carb ratio is messed up, the food is under cooked, and the spice is either MIA or unbearable. Since we always order for take out, and we dig into it after we've finally settled down for the night with the movie going.. it's very frustrating having to go back to the Noodle Box on 4th to report discontent... 4th time that month! So we resign to ordering pizza. I don't know what's going on at 4th Noodle Box location (new cooks? new order takers?) but that was the last straw... My husband and I have finally resigned from trying to make it work. We called it quits with the noodle box and we're are looking for a replacement. Yes, Thursday and Friday nights tradition of take out and a movie will be greatly missed. read more

Ewww. Salty soggy fishy. Cold. Barely any noodles (funny, given the chain's name). This place serves crap, I have no idea why people continue to keep them in business. My family and I love this place. They have a variety of noodles that my kids go crazy over. For me personally, I find most of the noodles bland besides the Spicy Peanut Curry Noodles (The one that is first on the menu). The price is pretty fair for the serving that they give you. The ambiance is nice, but I wish they had more seating. read more

Three of us were looking to have a quick dinner before a film last night but ended up ordering just some appy's because the people in before us seemed to be waiting a long time for their food and the music ( not what I'd call it) was techno annoying and very loud and the table was sticky. We had some shrimp lettuce wrap with not much tiny shrimp and some real greasy spring rolls. None of us liked the sauce offerings either. Using the ladies room I couldn't tell if there was one because the toilet seat was up in both washrooms. With all the choices we were kicking ourselves that we went into that place. Rude staff Bastardized Asian food. Specifically, all the sauces are horrid. I can't figure out where "fusion" comes in as everything is generic. In Asia, there's a term "dead salt" as in so salty it's like eating salt. That's what this place does. You can't taste anything. read more

always loved the Noodle Box in Kits but i think they lack in quality control. yesterday i ordered the cambodian jungle curry to go and unlike previous orders and as pictured on their website, there was virtually no lovely green curry sauce. almost all noodles and hardly any vegetables. what used to be pulled pork for the protein was small pieces of bbq'd pork. also not as hot as usual for a "medium hot" spice. i was actually quite disappointed and wonder about going back. read more

This place used to be one of my all-time favourites...I would eat here at least once a week...until...they started using "processed" chicken a couple months ago. The first time I noticed it, I thought maybe it was just me. The next time I ate there, I was so disappointed that I brought it up with a couple of the staff. Not only did they confirm the change, they agreed that it was disappointing, apologized, and recommended that I give my feedback to the management. I hope to get around to that soon. Decent spicy dishes with fresh ingredients and excellent customer service. They made a correction on a dish without hesitation by offering two new dishes the next time, even though it was only the one. They were apologetic, polite, and no attitude. This place is over rated!!!! My green coconut curry in rice was rice swimming in a clear broth, sans the taste of coconut or curry. I do not know what I just ate because it wasn't curry! I came from the land of coconut and curry and I know the rich taste of both and this sludge was just an over priced sludge! Man I've been to this place like 3 or 4 times and it's always the same know matter what I order. It's greasy, over salted and it reminds me of someone cleaning out their fridge - it's just piles of random items piled on top of oily wok fried noodles.....let's see I had a pile of crushed semi-stale peanuts, chopped green onions, sprouts and all looked liked what you would find in the kitchen drain after you washed dishes. I heard about Noodle Box so I stopped by for lunch, very hungry today. I ordered Tom Phen soup, and when asked about spice level, said hot; I enjoy spicy food. I took it to go, and went home to dig in. I have NEVER had such hot food; tears streamed from my eyes, my nose ran, my mouth burned. I was so hungry I tried to eat a few more bites. I suffered for 1 to 2 hours afterword. I have eaten at many, many restaurants, from Thai to Indian, and ordered hot food, and have never experienced anything like this. When I looked at the soup, it is FULL of red chiles; every bite had ten or so chile pieces. I don't know if the chef spilled his chili or what! I do NOT recommend this. I hope to return it tomorrow and get my $12 back; I will add to this and let you know if I was successful. (if I can figure out how to do that on yelp) read more

We had a take out on a Friday night and we were disappointed to find out that none of us got exactly what we ordered. Mild was so hot that it was impossible to eat it and it didn't have sprouts which was the request for another item and not that one. It was just all wrong. We ate our dinner unhappy and frustrated. If you are looking for authentic Asian noodles this should be the last place that you would go to. I ordered spicy peanut noodle bowl. It's tasteless, the way they make it is putting a bunch of ingredients together in a bowl then serve you. Had this before down at the Hastings location and it was good a year ago. I walking by the locating on 4th was craving it for lunch. Was very hungry and looking forward to it. After spending $40 for two meals and drink, we literally had to pack it up and leave hungry after two bites. Ordered the Ginger Beef and Pad Thai medium spice. I enjoy hot food but this was over the top. The chefs must be complete amateurs off the street. The medium spice was literally Extra Extra Extra Extra extreme suicide spice level. Could taste nothing but burning, could't eat the food. I didn't want to waste food so I took it home where I had to submerge it in about a cup of sour cream just to make it editable. By the time I was finished my face was dripping with sweat about the same as after a 5km sprint marathon. Total joke, zero quality control. Ginger beef was about 4-5 pieces of overcooked grizzle. I was really impressed with my experience. I saw Noodle Box listed on a Celiac forum as being gluten-free friendly. They not only had a menu of options for me to choose from (ask the server), but also asked if I needed the meal flagged for a gluten-allergy. It was really great to trust that the meal would be safe for me. There are great vegetarian options and ways to change it up (more spice, more veggies, brown rice, etc). Other great things... composting, clean... great service. I will be a regular. read more

Impressed with the restaurant decor/upbeat music upon the first few steps. Ordered the Thai Chow Mein with Chicken and was disappointed. It was flavourful but still nothing close to authentic. If anything I was expecting the noodles to be the highlight but wasn't pleased with them either. I love the noodle box, period! I love coming here when I run out of food in my house despite it being so far away from where I live. Being a vegetarian, there aren't too many places with so many options so that's where I appreciate noodle box the most. I don't know why fellow yelpers are so repelled with the service. The service seems pretty good for a fast food type joint. I haven't had one instance of rudeness and I have been here plenty of times. I go to the kits location on and off. the food is awesome. My favourites are the black bean and garlic and noodle box chilli plum. When you ask for spicy, it's actually spicy and not mild. My only complaints are the long waits...but they are so popular, it's understandable. They should also consider using a numbering system when calling out which orders are ready. If two Joes order the same dish, it can at times be confusing. I can't wait to try other items on the menu. read more
