The staff wants to close the restaurant 30 minutes before closing time. Reached at 2:02 pm, was told kitchen closes in next 3 min. The AC is shut down while you are eating in a hot texas summer afternoon (approx 2:20 PM) to force you out well before the official closing time of the restaurant. 2 Days later realize that the manager gave himself a tip and probably signed the receipt himself. Make sure you get the crispy chicken green curry, the almond sriracha chicken, the chicken pad Thai, Mongolian beef, and/or chicken satay for appetizer and the noodle wave wings. Man.... On the upside they deliver, but for us that was pretty much the only upside with our experience. Grand total including tip and delivery charges was $70.00 for 2 noodle soups, a bento box, and a 5 piece veggie spring roll appetizer. For the quality of the order... ouch! The bento box had chicken, which was extremely dry to the point it was not edible. The soups lacked flavor and we did not get the extras we paid to add to the dish. The spring rolls were good though! Came here with the church crew after service on Sunday for lunch. We called ahead with a party of 12 and were told that they would set tables up for us and we would be able to get seated when we got there at 12:30! Very efficient and friendly, and when an extra person joined us later the servers quickly unfolded a new table and added it to the end of our combined tables so that we had enough room. I tend to frequent the Noodle Wave in Frisco more often just because it's closer to where I live, but this location is on par! I got the basil fried rice with beef this time and decided to try the Thai curry puffs as well. The crust was thin (think like wonton wrappers) and very crisp; I'm used to curry puffs that have a flakier pastry-like crust and a thicker filling, but the ones at Noodle Wave are still pretty good, and I enjoyed both dipping sauces that came with them. The basil fried rice was excellent as always, and the dinner portions are huge so I packed half of it away for later. At one point those in our party who had ordered the lunch special realized that they had never gotten the soup that came with it, so we had to ask for it, and it took a bit longer for one of the checks to come back to our table once we'd paid, but overall a solid experience with delicious food! read more

Tonight, I experienced this framing effect first hand during my dinner at Noodle Wave. I came here with my family on our first night in Dallas after a long road trip from Minnesota. Our previous meal was a lunch buffet at a Pizza Hut in rural Oklahoma. If you've ever been to a lunch buffet at a Pizza Hut in rural Oklahoma, you might be able to empathize with the pallid tastelessness I was subjected to. Needless to say, this lunchtime experience set the bar for my taste buds lower than at the final round of a limbo contest. This framing only augmented the wonder of the savory adventure I had later in the evening. At Noodle Wave, we were greeted with a sparkling clean, yet homely ambiance. Despite the small restaurant being almost chock-full with patrons, we were seated within minutes. From then on, the service could have been more attentive, but the quality of the food more than made up for it. After perusing the notably neat and user-friendly menu, I ended up taking on the Spicy Pepper Steak stir-fry. It certainly beat out the lukewarm slices of cheese pizza from earlier in the day. The presentation of the dish was a treat by itself (see image). The steak was splendidly done; not chewy to the point where I was getting a jaw workout in, but offered a tenderness that was just right. The sauce seamlessly blended flavors of tangy and spicy, and piggybacked well off the internal flavor of the beef. The vegetable stir fry was some of the best I have ever had; the sharp crunch of the bell peppers added excellent contrast to the dish. I washed it down with a Thai Tea that was nothing amazing, but had a creaminess I could appreciate. To be honest, I was primarily grateful I was able to temporarily forget the lunch I had in the afternoon. I give Noodle Wave a light to decent 5 stars. read more

My Overall Rating - 2 1/2 Stars (Atmosphere, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Noodle Wave is located in a shopping strip. While the parking lot has plenty of parking, the design of the lot requires you to walk pass the road that brings cars in. Just be careful as it can get busy. Once you pass through the beautifully detailed & carved door, you'll enter the restaurant. It's a bit tight to accommodate plenty of tables and chairs. On our weeknight visit it was busy, but we didn't have to wait for a table (not sure what it's like during lunch). Décor is a bit cluttered and mixed together, but that's purely subjective. 1/2 Star. Service - While our server was very nice, service was very slow. I'm not sure if they were short staffed, but it took quite some time between when we would see our server. And as the restaurant got very busy, it took a very long time for us to settle our bill and just leave. Either they need to hire more staff or we got unlucky. No Star. Food - I will say, Noodle Wave is very good. In fact, it has been around for years so I can see why so many people visit. We started with a softshell crab salad. It was delicious, with fresh greens mixed in a light vinaigrette. In fact, it's a dish that I have commonly seen at Japanese/sushi restaurants so having this on the menu and being very good was a bonus. We also ordered the whole fried fish. It's market price and will vary by size, but our snapper was a very good size, served with fresh vegetables. After reading and seeing many photos of the roti curry, we had to order this. It's served with a side of rice and some grilled bread similar to naan. Great for dipping in the curry or to use when cleaning your plate. Also, Noodle Wave has Halal prepared dishes in the event you have dietary needs. Overall a very satisfying meal. 1 1/2 Stars. Will I Return? - If I remember. While Noodle Wave is great, and I can see why it's crowded, I honestly forget that it's there. I'm sure (at least I hope) our experience with the service was an anomaly. Overall our meal was great, but I can't really see myself craving to come back unless I just happen to be in the area. 1/2 Star. My Yelp Rating Scale (Sum of all parts): 1 Star - Atmosphere - Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I'll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star - Service - You can have a great meal with bad service. But that's also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It's important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars - Food - I'll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. What can I say about this place that hasn't already been said? Noodle Wave is in my top 3 list of Thai restaurants in the Dallas area. The complex it's located in is a little run down but the restaurant itself is nice on the inside. It's pretty small and pretty popular so you will almost always have to wait a couple minutes for a table to clear. You can't go wrong with any of the noodles here. I love the pad see eew and pad kee mow. Their highest level of spice isn't too impressive so I always gotta get some extra peppers on the side. My only beef with Noodle Wave is they took the Mussaman curry off the menu but no matter, their other curries are still good. We decided to venture out and try something new with the appetizers and got the tempura mushroom (new addition to the appetizer menu) and noodle wave wings. I love Thai food this place was suggested and I'm glad I gave it a shot. Hands down, my favorite Thai restaurant in DFW. I am from Southeast Asia, so you can say I know what good Thai food should taste like. We've celebrated a few parties here, bringing our own bottle of wine to enjoy. They can handle a big crowd and we never really have to wait long for our food. If you were to ask me what is my favorite dish here, it would be a very very hard question to answer. Seriously, everything I've tried here is good! But my usuals are ladna, pad kee mao, crab fried rice, basil chicken and papaya salad. Be careful out in the parking lot though! I was introduced to this place a couple months back and I have been here multiple times since (a good sign). The food tastes good, not sure about authenticity, but I like eating it. The only thing is that I have a higher spice tolerance and they don't use real Thai spices so you really have to ask them to crank it up. The waiter today asked 1-4 and I got a 6, which was decently hot but not near anything crazy. We were also told today that the meat is Halal meat, the owner is Muslim according to the server, good to know for some diets. The space here isn't too big and it fills up most of the time. I went on a Wednesday for lunch and the restaurant was full, so keep wait times on the brain when deciding to come here. The service is pretty top notch from my experiences. They are attentive with water and the servers are happy to be there, ready to make recommendations. Something to note is that for lunch we had 7 people and they charged 18% gratuity, not a problem but some people care about that. For lunch they have a great lunch combo that comes with soup, egg roll, pad kee mao (I think? A noodle dish at least), green curry with chicken, and a choice of dessert (ice cream, Thai tea, etc) all for $10.95, which a good deal in my opinion. The crispy chicken green curry is also really popular with my friends so give that a try. It can be a tad sweet for my tastes but I tend to like savory and spicy. I do like the pineapple curry though. The portions are pretty big here so I get full and most of my friends need to-go boxes. What deserves its own paragraph and emphasis, though, is that FRIED ICE CREAM. Who doesn't love ice cream and fried things? Well you can get them together here. I would recommend the cinnamon ice cream, never had the green tea but that sounds like it wouldn't be as good fried. If it weren't for the lunch special ice cream this time I have gotten the fried ice cream every visit. They also put an umbrella on it if for decoration you're into that sort of thing, which I am.
