I am going to start by saying that my family is generally easy to please. We thought we'd give this Thai joint a shot last night and ordered some take-out. The food tasted good. A little heavy on the sauces. However, that is not really my gripe. The prices were higher than our other two local favorite Thai places. The serving sizes for the price was a joke. Typically we have some leftovers for lunch the next day when dining Asian fare. Not so at Noodle N Thai. Plus, their meat portions were almost non-existant. Tiny bits of chicken in one dish and a few small shrimp in another. Your experience may vary but we will not be returning or recommending this resteraunt. read more

The cashew chicken and the spicy basil chicken (definitely spicy) were so wonderful and the waitress was very kind and spot on when asked what were more traditional dishes in Thai cuisine. Finally found good Thai. We've tried numerous Thai restaurants around the area and this is the one that has ended our search. We will definitely be back. Just watch out on the spice level. Medium is plenty hot, even a bit too hot. But the food was great, had all the dimensions and layering of flavor that you would expect from good Thai food. The food was in balance. This is the best Thai place I have come across, and its kind of fun to hop over to Springfield to get there. The ambience is so-so , but the food is superb, and the friendly wait staff are lovely. They have very good noodle soups, my favourite is the duck soup - I do like spicy - there medium if you are not used to it can make your eyes water so be careful. read more

I wanted to write a review on this place because it's just so good and really noteworthy. I've been here about a dozen times. The problem with review sites is that we're more inclined to write about our superb experiences or really horrible ones. What's not mentioned in this review are the huge number of very mediocre Thai restaurants in the Springfield/Eugene area I've had - their experiences are likely not reflected in their reviews either. So what sets this restaurant apart from the others? It's fresh, real, authentic, and not messed with Thai food. They use fresh noodles and fresh chilies. This is so much more than they can say at the other restaurants (dried chilies and dried noodles). They use authentic recipes! No hot & spicy, bright orange pad thai by default here as you may find elsewhere. This food is not messed with and is presented in a neat, tidy, approachable, and accessible manner without pretense or overworking. I can't give a higher recommendation for Thai food in the Springfield/Eugene area. Its location, of course, is a little bizarre on Main Street in Springfield. It makes me wonder how hard they could smash their mediocre competition in Eugene if they were downtown. With all that said, this place may not be for everybody. The interior decor is a Thai-meets-diner mash up. The service, though extremely attentive, kind and generous, can be slow when busy. And, as mentioned above, there's no pretense or fussiness in their presentation - maybe not a place to impress a date. This place is a treasure and I hope it stays in business for years to come! Oh and as for menu recs? Just about everything is good and fresh and authentic. Soft spring rolls with (homemade!) pineapple sauce are great. As are their curries made with fresh (not frozen) vegetables. They've got a number of Thai dishes that you don't typically see on Thai menus, too - give those a try! TLDR; if superior Thai food in a casual environment is what you're looking for - this spot easily beats out its Eugene competition. Well worth the drive. Friendly and attentive waitstaff. I finally got around to giving this place another whirl for lunch. I ordered the red curry and this time convinced the waitress that I really and truly wanted it "hot." Service was prompt and pleasant. They delivered on the heat, but I wasn't otherwise impressed. The amount of meat was skimpy, the curry was watery (did they use "lite" coconut milk?), and I didn't find the complement of veggies (only bamboo shoots & bell peppers) terribly exciting. For $8, I got full enough on a portion that Kuraya used to serve up with better sauce for $6.50. Boy do I miss that place. Ta Ra Rin, now in Kuraya's old space, is superior for the same price. read more

This place used to be great. Went back recently and found out it is under new ownership. Food was horrible. I ordered my previously favorite items: Chicken Satay, Soft Spring Rolls, and Pineapple Fried Rice. Satay was greasy and rubberized, spring rolls were poorly crafted and mostly lettuce, and the pineapple rice was only edible with copious amounts of soy. Third trip here... and I don't get why I didn't write a review earlier. Beloved Bride had made mac 'n cheese and I wasn't in the mood. I agreed that tonight was a night that I could go anywhere I wanted... alone... with a reader! (Insert maniacal laughter here) I have had a craving from Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) for a while. Noodle & Thai! Perfect! Went in, sat down, didn't even look at the menu. Thai iced coffee came in about one minute. Great stuff. Noodles were here in under 4 minutes. Perfectly cooked. With Chicken (also perfectly cooked). Wide rice noodles... fresh peppers, fresh basil, great wok hay... A perfect dish done JUST as I wanted it. Chef Owen has a slightly higher spice level than others. I'd normally order this 4/5 spicy, ordered it at 2 1/2. Next time ... 3, but remember to knock it down a level when you order. If you haven't been here, you ought to come. Darn fine stuff. read more

So excited that there is another good Thai place in town. My partner and I went for the first time tonight and were very pleased with the quality of the food. For an appetizer, we shared the fresh spring rolls (more commonly known as salad rolls). They were tasty, but I am used to them having pork and not beef. However, the sweet peanut sauce was a nice complement. For entrees, I had the Pad Se Ew and he had the seafood pad thai. I am a big fan of Ta Ra Rin, but the Pad Se Ew I had tonight was just as good. You can tell that they make the noodles fresh, as they did not stick together, and the flavor was right on. The pad thai was good as well. I was a little worried that the seafood might make it taste fishy, but this was not the case. The scallops were perfectly cooked, very tender, and they were generous with the amount of meat they gave. My partner said that the mussels did not really go well with the dish and the calamari rings were a little overcooked, but this did not detract from our experience, or him finishing the dish. The atmosphere was nice and the service decent, even at a busy time. I was a little disappointed that they ran out of lemonade, but oh well. Prices were good and little more affordable than some of the more established places. Appetizers average about 5 dollars and entrees vary from 9-15 for dinner. They had a very nice variety on their menu and I will definetly be going back to try out some of their other dishes. read more

We live in Portland with Thai restaurants on every corner and many good ones. We make it a point to stop here every time mealtime coincides with when we pass by Eugene. They prepare standard dishes with just a little extra brightness and pop. We also always try something on their menu that we've never seen elsewhere. Never been disappointed yet. The restaurant is clean from top to bottom.. -----Hard to find in a Thai restaurant. The staff was so very sweet and friendly. But as for the food,... I was So Very disappointed! After reading the other reviews, I was at least looking for food somewhat consistent with the ratings... NOT. I had the Naked Prawns and Mint Beef Salad. The Prawns are prepared like the Mint Beef Salad, but only grilled prawns for protein on the same bed of greens and onions. The salad stunk from the time it was delivered. The prawns had been seared on an open-flame grill but they were not done.. still translucent. The prawns stunk like burnt seafood would but still had the stink of raw seafood as well. The combination of odors was enough to lose my appetite. The beef in the other salad was overdone, not flavorful at all and gristly. The only consistently pleasant part was the Singh Ha beer I was drinking to wash down the unpleasantness. The cucumber garnish for both dishes was about 1.5 days past it's prime. I decided the safest way out of this was to get a to-go box,... take it all home and cook the shrimp enough to make it safely edible. Even my hands stunk of raw, burnt seafood after handling the shrimp to remove the tails. I had to go to the WC and wash my hands before I left... I won't be back to give this one a second chance.. The people were very nice though.... I hate to be so hard on them.. I wish them every success but it won't come about by serving food like I had tonight. read more

We eat here all the time. Living 10 blocks away doesn't hurt but glad we don't have to drive into Eugene for all good eating out experiences. I like a place that cares about the food and service first and doesn't focus all the attention on the "frills" like some places (you know who i'm talking about). As others have said, medium is most thai "hots" and spicy is a true visit to Bangkok. Love this place, keep up the good work! read more

Everything we ordered was yummy! We are big fans of thai food, and like to try different thai restaraunts in eugene, and we are excited to find a good one in springfield! I have eaten here at least half a dozen times since finding it. I've ordered something different every time and have found that the food has always been fantastic and the service excellent. I doubt I would have gone without my friends recommendation, as it certainly doesn't look special from the outside and the place next door should be condemned. My first time here. I've lived in Thailand so I'm picky. I had fresh spring rolls and beef salad. Excellent, my only criticism: I would like a more traditional lime,fish sauce,garlic,sugar and chile with the summer rolls but I know most Americans favor a sweet sauce. Ate there on a saturday evening. Took awhile to have our order taken, but I think it was because they were understaffed. Everyone was working very hard so I won't begrudge them 5-10 extra minutes. That being said, food was wonderful and reasonably priced. I had Drunken Noodle, which was very flavorful and my daughter got the best Pad Se Ew I have ever tasted. Because we were in a hurry and I have to eat spicy food slowly, I ended up getting a doggy bad for drunken noodles and scarfing my poor kids Pad Se Ew. We will definitely return. read more

This is the best thai food around. I would say the best in the pacific northwest - trumps all of the thai places in portland. They make their own rice noodles. Medium is quite spicy. The atmosphere could use a bit of work, but, sadly, so could springfield in general with all of the antique stores and closed down buildings.
