Pad see ewd. I'd skip this one. But I'd skip this entire place too...
Shemesh Y.

Nice service. Clean, casual place. Really bad food. Fresh rolls: if you like them having lettuce only inside (no basil/carrot/..., very few noodles), then this might be the place for you! Pad see ewd: strong egg flavor. No spices were felt. No Broccoli nor any other vegetable. Pho: no flavor. Had tomato and cucumber in it.. strange :)

Superb quality and fast service. Charming airy little spot in the middle of Jamaica Plain & has excellent Vietnamese & Thai offerings. The variety is impressive & price are very reasonable for Boston. A sure bet the get your Thai fix satiated.

Crispy Wonton with Chicken Very tasty!!

Really liked the food. The service is wonderful. The one thing that I could recommend for improvement, in my opinion, is to totally change the music from rap/hip-hop/loud to soothing, soft, and graceful. That would make my eating experience so much more pleasant. Thank you very much.

Crab Rangoon
Mark T.

When I'm walking around a restaurant dense area looking for a place to get food, I seek out 'what looks at me," and in this case, it was Noodle Barn. I didn't check Yelp before, which by some definitions, is as adventurous as I get. I ordered the Crab Rangoons, and the Red Curry dinner (with chicken). + Crab Rangoons: these were a mixed bag. On the positive side, they were crabby! Which is always a great find, as they are 'crab' rangoons and not 'cream cheese' rangoons! On the negative side, the dough was on the chewy and greasy side. I can understand and forgive a little greasiness for something that just came out of the fryer. However, I highly prefer the wonton wrappers to be crisp, especially when they just came out of the fryer. + Red Curry: On the positive side, the broth was delightful! Just a tiny bit sweet, a tiny bit spicy, and wicked savory! As for the remainder, it missed the mark for me. The chicken was nothing to write home about, however, it was the veggies that really made this dish subpar. Now, you ever watch 'Worst Cooks in America'? with Anne Burrell grilling one of the recruits for how they cut something: putting the smallest item in the largest item side-by-side? Well I think we need to get Anne Burrell into this kitchen for a little bit. Some of the veggies were in absolutely massive chunks, and other smaller. Mind you all you get is a spoon! Then we need to get Gordon Ramsay into this kitchen to yell at them about the veggies being, in Ramsay fashion "[expletive deleted] Raw!" But really, the veggies, especially the carrots, were very tough. They needed to spend a lot more time boiling. So pretty much, the curry was a pleasant broth, with okay chicken, combined with haphazardly chopped and severely undercooked vegetables. On the bright side I will say this: the location is clean, bright, and inviting, and the service was spectacular! Very nice, very quick, and very attentive!

Saigon Salad

Great lunch spot and prices. When I lived in JP this didn't exist so it was a great find. Had the Saigon salad which had a nice tangy taste - shredded cabbage, carrots, cucumbers with lemongrass beef. Wife has crispy chicken and portions were generous.

Pad Gra Pow Barn
Chirag P.

Ordered the Pad Gra Pow Barn and the Crab Rangoon for delivery. This is the first crab rangoon ive had in a while that has more crab than cream cheese...you know like how it should be! The flavor of Pad Fra Pow was great, just the right amount of basil, only slightly sweet, good amount of red pepper and onion, and most importantly spicy.

Pad Thai Dinner

Always a great time at the Noodle Barn! Great vibes, delicious food. Cute place. I had pho and the veggie pad Thai, both incredible. Thank you for a yummy night!

Solid place to get pho or thai food. There's a huge menu and lots of vegetarian options. Not too expensive.

The best Crab Rangoon I've found in Boston. They're not completely devoid of crab meat and not under-stuffed, which most I've found are.

Yume Ga Arukara - Spicy hot udon

Best udon I've ever had. I didn't do any prior research for this spot and I ended up absolutely…read morepleased with the food quality and ambience. I got the Hot Niku Udon! The broth was so rich and balanced that I could taste every ingredient listed. The noodles weren't too soft like most places, they were perfect! My boyfriend and I loved the open-kitchen concept that made the food feel so much more authentic. I craved this meal the second we stepped out of the restaurant! I'd recommend this to everyone!

I felt like Yume Ga Arukara didn't stand out to me. Not sure if I just ordered the wrong item? I…read moregot the hot spicy nikutama udon soup. Nikutama just basically comes with meat. I also added the onsen egg. My first initial thought: it's warm, soothing and heartwarming. But the more I ate it, it didn't really have much flavor and I don't know if it's because it's chicken based broth. The spiciness also didn't really have much of a kick. And in some bites, I bit into a Szechuan pepper. Not sure what kind of theme they're going for but definitely didn't expect it to have a Szechuan twist. I will say, I very much liked their udon noodles! It was really chewy and soft. I also felt that the onsen egg was slightly too undercooked. I love eggs and I can eat them cooked, runny, etc. but felt like the yolk was so runny it mixed into the soup and didn't really resurface after that. It's a really small shop with bar seating and a few small tables. Expect a wait if you're a big party or quite possibly coming around rush hour. Despite my review, it seems very popular. Service was quick and fast!

Really exciting place focused on Northwest Chinese cuisine…read more The signature dish, the hand-pulled beef noodle soup, had a fairly light, but subtle, flavor. The noodles themselves I wish were chewier (got the 'flat' but probably should have gone for 'extra wide'), and perhaps it'd been nice to have some different textures inside the soup (e.g. something crunchy). The scallions in the soup were also too wide, and needed to be sliced more thinly. The beef pancake was quite decent, though the edges didn't have enough beef and the middles had too much beef. The beef was tender, though I might have liked it more flaky. The sauce inside the pancake was somewhat unevenly applied, and a bit too sweet. I wonder if a dipping sauce (maybe a vinegar?) would have helped. The blueberry with mashed yams was fascinating. It was listed under appetizers, and wondered why the dish came out last. But the dish was a bit sweet (naturally!) and so it actually worked as a light modest dessert! The wait staff was spot on after all in putting out the dish last. The stir-fried cabbage dish was beautiful! It was appropriately crunch, yet using good wok hey. The salt level was a bit high, but the spice level was good. Their spice ratings were a bit timid to what I encounter in Szechuan restaurants (the 'regular' level seemed to be more 'mild-regular'). The stir-fried cumin potato was delicious; nicely flavored, nicely charred. Some bits were a bit oily but the cook on the potato was really neat. Will revisit!!!

Hm, we had high hopes for this Lanzhou noodle place because we saw customizable noodle type and all…read morethe photos looked amazing, but our tries here have only been ok. We've ordered several of their noodle soups and noodle dishes with regular, thick, and wide noodles that have been fine but not great. I think the textures of their noodles across the board have been too soft, not chewy enough. We've tried some of their other dishes, which have been better: my fav is the cold okra appetizer. Also, the potato balls in the beef brisket with potato are a sleeper hit. Unfortunately, the dish was mostly beef and not potato haha unusual gripe. Service is normal, efficient, on the attentive side for a chinese place. Interior is nice and new and clean. After our second try, I'm not super pressed to come back, but if we're in the area, I might try some of their other non-noodle dishes!
