Nonnie's Bakery is in a gas station strip center and is awesome. Cinnamon pecan roll is sweet, spicy and wonderful. All the kolaches are tasty. We sampled most of them. Donuts were good but not as good as other items.

It's adjacent to a gas station. I drove by and saw it from outside, and it gives me the feeling of "cheap and tasty", so I stopped. I ordered coconut kolache and a scone like thing (I forgot the name) and I was not disappointed at all! The scone like pastry has a cream cheese filling with some raspberry outside. It's very tasty. And the toasted coconut on top of the coconut kolache just made it extra amazing. If i got a chance to pass by again, I'll def make a stop.

We stopped in for a quick breakfast snack - and weren't disappointed. The fruit kolaches were fresh and full of filling and moist and delicious. We also had various meet filled kolaches. Sausage & cheese, jalapeño & bacon & cheese, and a meat lovers puff. Plus a flat round pastry with bacon and jalapeño and cream cheese. The dough here is really good. It's soft and moist - reminds me of a crescent roll - without the chemically taste I get from Pillsbury. I've read other comments that were critical of the sausage - but I thought it was great. Good consistency, not too fatty. Flavor was spot on. Plus is was very reasonably priced. Overall very good.

I'm not a fan of the meat they use in the meat kolaches. The coconut and the cream cheese ones were good. They could use less bread and more filling though.

Empanada! Very fresh and flaky, I can't remember what was inside but it was very good!!

I always pass by this bakery on my way to and from Austin to College Station and I try to stop by when I get a chance to! I've had breakfast tacos here, and right now I had an empanada (they ran out of kolaches - only had cream cheese and fruit, which I wasn't craving). The empanada was so flaky and fresh.. very delicious. I'll have to come back for some pastries because they had some very scrumptious-looking muffins!!

    Generous filling!

Arguably one of the greatest foods ever invented. Atleast in my world. How can you go wrong with bread filled with sweet or savory fillings? Hruska's is about halfway between Houston and Austin and a perfect rest stop to fill up on gas, use the clean facilities, grab a snack or indulge in their amazing baked goods. They are steeped in history and have been around for decades passing along the family recipes. It's obviously improved structurally over the years from a country store and looks like a modern gas station now. It's always pretty busy every time I have stopped in, but they are a well oiled machine and keep the masses moving with excellent customer service. They have all your gas station essentials like snacks and beverages. What sets them apart is their bakery. Here, they label their kolaches as the traditional fruit filled variety. I like them, but they are never my first choice. I love the ones with meat inside. Here, they label these as pigs in a blanket. They have a large variety of both. I usually go for a regular sausage and cheese, but over here, they sell a delicious pan sausage kind. On top of all their sweet and savory baked goods, they also sell burgers on the grill. Their burgers have made it to the Texas Monthly Top 50 burger spots. I have yet to try it. Overall, this is an always stop place for me. I highly recommend stopping here to stretch your legs and enjoy a delicious pastry while you're at it. I will definitely be back.

THAT should have been my first clue...LOL!! Just ate the (small) links: jalapeno/cheese and hot... They were ok, each had a mild kick. Would have liked more flavor to each The huge link from Westphalia meat market in Loft TX that I got grossed me out...it looked gray, had a lot of cheese and was just mushy looking. It tasted like mushy cheese and not beef or pork. The texture was just mush. (the packaging had no info on it either and the counter person didn't know) I threw $15 worth of whatever this was in the trash. I just could NOT get over HOW it looked, the texture or lack of flavor. (wish I would of taken a photo of it cooked...too traumatized! LOL! HEY OWNERS.... DONT buy that anymore! I cooked the beef/pork link..it was good. I cooked the ground chuck...and, the pork breakfast sausage... Both look and taste great. (sighs of relief!)
