I must have come on an off-day because this spot was just ok. We bookmarked a few donut spots to try to hit on our last morning, but they were all closed on a Monday. There was not as big or exciting of an assortment as the photos I had seen, so I was a bit disappointed. The donuts were good, but nothing I haven't had before. Came here for the first time. Didn't even know what Kolaches were lol, but I ordered what was recommended and wasn't let down. The staff there are super nice, fast, and patient with me because I was kind of picky. I ordered the Kolaches Pepper jack which were super delicious. I'm from Hawaii so it's basically a Portuguese sausage baked into a bun. I also ordered a dozen donuts and I just love how it's not too oily, the texture is fluffy, and it wasn't too sweet. The maple bacon and regular chocolate yeast donut were the best. The plain glaze, red velvet, and Nutella were pretty good. The parking is decent. The staff are welcoming and they stated that their Kolaches always sell out especially on Texas A&M game days. read more

For decades I've said that TJ's in Weatherford has the best kolaches in Texas, but I may have to modify that statement. Kais has been my go to spot for kolaches in College Station, and is 100% worth going out of your way to visit. I also love that they're open until 2 so that I can still get my kolache fix when lunch time rolls around. read more

Visiting College Station and stopped by this doughnut shop about an hour before they closed as we were heading home. There wasn't a huge selection left, to be expected, but what we got was tasty. The lemon filled doughnut was really good, as was the apple fritter. The sour cream doughnut was meh. What would've been great was if they could've been warmed up in the microwave for a few seconds. Would definitely try again when I'm in town. I'd love to try them hot and fresh. read more

We visited college station for a bbq conference and ended up getting breakfast 3 times from here. They made coffee strong for me upon request and had incredible kolaches. My buddy ended up getting a dozen to take home. On our last day we went to Shipley's Do-Nuts as our Airbnb host said they were better. We did not agree. Best Kolache's in College Station, maybe TX. I was in town visiting A&M and tried Kai's on my first morning and loved it. The Boudin was my favorite but it was all great. And at my request Kai also made extra strong coffee that was delicious. I tried another place the second day and it was not nearly as good, so I went back to Kai's every other day. I've been thinking about checking this place since 3 years ago, and I finally did it today. I came here around 7 am in the morning and most of the items are not on the glass cabinet yet. I was so upset they no longer have S'mores donut, and the person working there was so confused when I said "S'mores donut"....Apple fritter is not available at the moment i ordered... so pretty much I wasn't able to get my personal favorite. I ordered maple bacon, Cookie Monster (based on the reviews on yelp), and the check-in offer glazed donut. The maple bacon one is just made to be served (still warm!!!). I think the hint of the warmness improves the taste of maple bacon. The dough is soft and tasty, the bacon is perfectly seasoned, but I don't like the maple frosting. The maple frosting taste like low quality maple syrup with added sugar and artificial maple flavoring. But overall it's warm and tasty. The Cookie Monster is nothing to write home about. I'm actually surprised at the taste of the glazed donut. I know it is so basic and nothing fancy. However because they did a good job making the dough, this piece of basic stuff turned to be very good. read more

I was visiting college station for graduation and wanted to grab breakfast with friends before the 9am ceremony. I always enjoy supporting local businesses so we went. They offer plain to decorated/weird donuts and kolaches. I got two sausage and cheese kolaches for about $4. Instead of inside the bun, the cheese is inside the sausage itself so it was a nice surprise. It was delicious, from the bread to the filling. They are also the long kind and not the circle bun ones so you get more bang for your buck. There's a selection of iced and hot coffees and complimentary water. read more

Most of them are just plain donuts with cool toppings (instead of the flavors actually being incorporated into the dough) I felt like the Nutella donut had too much Nutella in it, but that's just my opinion! LOVED this donut place and I'm not even a huge fan of donuts. There was plenty of parking in the front of the store but I wouldn't recommend eating the donuts here if you have a large group as there's not a ton of seating. The donut selection was awesome! The butterfinger, red velvet and maple bacon donuts were my favorite. They also had a ton of kolaches and I loved the sausage/cheese one. Ok, our family tradition for Saturday morning is "Shipley's or Daylight"... well Kai's just upset the tradition. I don't know how either place will survive after everyone learns of this new donut shop! Some of the most, vast selections of unique flavors anywhere and the prices are VERY reasonable and the staff, well amazing too! I'll have to say my son's favorite is the Oreo and Heath or Butterfinger. My wife's favorite was the maple bacon and I'd say the red velvet! But I think the best I've ever had anywhere was the Philly Cheese Steak rolls... A MUST TRY!!! I don't know where you can get an assortment of a dozen gourmet donuts for $10 as you see in my photo! So I heard about this place on Facebook, in class, at work.. Decided I would try it out. The donuts are cute, but that's about it. There is no gourmet flavor. They take an average tasting donut and make it cute. I got the fruity pebbles donut ($.99), berry fruit donut($?), and red velvet cake($2) for my boyfriend and I to try. The fruity pebbles were stale. The fruit donut was pretty good, but the donut itself was heavy and doughy. The red velvet was dry. Oh. My. Goodness. Where do I even begin. As soon as I got out of my car and walked to the door, the heavenly doughnut smell just hit me in the face. Like, a very good welcomed hit lol Then when I entered, I felt like a little kid in a candy store, but instead I was faced with all these lovely looking donuts and could not choose any to save my life. I finally decided on the Thin Mint and red velvet cake. Girl Scouts and donuts combined? Hell yeah! And who doesn't like red velvet. (I'm saving the red velvet cake for later, but the Thin Mint donut was perfect. Not too sweet, just enough Thin Mints evenly crumbled and as puffy as the original glaze donut.) I also checked in on Yelp and got a free glazed donut which was the BESTTT donut I have ever had. Hands down. Imagine Shipley's and Krispy Kreme joined together and concocted this. Fluffy, soft, with a perfect crisp glaze that melts in your mouth. !!!!!! The prices are very reasonable and I most definitely will come back. As I'm new to CStat and relying on Yelp to establish new haunts, finding a good homey mom n pop donut shop to treat myself with on the occasional weekend was essential to my well being. I'm really glad I came to Kai's as it offers all the regular donuts one would expect, along with some more adventurous gourmet varieties. Toss in some free donut holes along with your order and you got yourself a business model that will attract returning customers, hey! I settled for a maple bacon as well as an old-fashioned (the crusty lookin' kind with cracked rather than smooth edges) and both were delicious. The maple bacon was pretty large as well, shaped like a rectangular bar rather than a circle. Splurged on a couple kolaches as well - sausage jalapeno and the bourdin. The former was just fine, and the latter seemed to have a rice and meat filling with various spices. It was curious, and tasted just alright as well. For the price point, can't really complain. Kolaches aren't breathtaking but simple and standard good fare. Overall, I'd definitely say stop by if you want some donuts. read more

I am blown away by how I can get 4 donuts, 2 large kolaches, and some donut holes for less than $8! I am really liking College Station/Bryan. :D Check in on Yelp for a free glazed donut! Super friendly service at the counter and you don't feel too rushed/stressed to make a decision (sometimes I feel stressed out at Subway/Chipotle type places HAHA). It seems like they throw in some free donut holes to every customer! I go the boudin kolache (this was really special and unique!), sausage, jalapeño, and cheese kolache (it was good but nothing special), boston donut, apple fritter, butterfingers donut, and glazed donut.
