On the drive home, I still had almost two hours ahead of me and was feeling tired, cold, and in need of something sweet or caffeinated. I hadn't realized it was finals week, so the shop was packed with college students. There was nowhere to sit, so I ordered everything to go. They had a decent pastry selection, which appeared to be sourced from Daylight Donuts. I ordered a blueberry scone--it tasted fine, nothing exceptional. The main issue was the service. It was pretty slow, likely due to how crowded it was, but I still felt the order flow could have been managed better. I had to ask if my order was ready, as it seemed to get lost in the shuffle. I didn't try any of the drinks, but it looked like they offer a wide variety, judging by what others were ordering. Sweet Eugene's is by far my favorite coffee shop in Cstat. The coffee isn't anything extraordinary, but it's great. If you're a cake donut person like me you'll love their selection of donuts. The best part is the interiors, it's so eclectic and maximalist which makes Sweet Eugene's the unique and charming place it is. I really like the interior - super cozy with dim, warm lighting and couches. It's great for hanging out on a coffee date. You can also study here (there are outlets by the tables). When you purchase anything, you can get a 2 hour WiFi code. All of the cakes I've had here (Black Forest, tuxedo, amaretto) have been dry and variable quality, I would rate 3/5. The tuxedo cake was way too sweet. The three cheese crepe was not hot enough, and the cheese inside wasn't melted (3/5). I liked their turtle cheesecake (5/5). Love this place! This was my home away from home for many years. I make sure to stop by every time I'm in town.

This place is a lot bigger than I expected. It was pretty cool bc it felt like there were 4 different rooms due to how it is set up. The atmosphere was perfect! The furniture and art pieces were pretty awesome and unique. It felt like I was in someone's living room. They had great music playing, although I will say it was a tad too loud for me to concentrate fully. But I was not too bothered with it bc the music was good lol. I got the lavender lemonade and white mocha were really good. The staff was very nice and answered some questions about the menu. I have gone multiple times, trying to keep an open mind since people seem to love it, but each time I am highly disappointed by the low quality coffee. Went here for years in high school & college...unfortunately their quality of drinks has went down as well as their service. Also, after all these years of going, I didn't realize that their iced coffees do not have fresh shots in them..I went in one day to get the same drink I've always gotten and asked for an extra shot..then I watched them pour a cold mixture from their fridge and did not make any fresh espresso for my drink. I probably won't ever go back here which makes me sad because I love to support my local coffee shops. read more

3rd time trying Sweet Eugene, 2nd time trying to work here. Recently tried WFH from a diff location & couldn't log onto a single wifi network in this place! Luckily my hot spot worked. Drink-wise, I went with a london fog on my most recent trip which was decent. I always get a bit worried when a black tea drink that should steep for 5 min comes out with froth & flavoring like 2 min after I order it. The other times I had lattes that were a bit too sweet for my taste. It definitely feels a bit outdated decor-wise - literally like walking into something from a 90s sitcom - but there's ample seating, with some tables being a bit small. If this were in any other city, i'd probably give it 2 stars but we're working with what we've got here. read more

As a Texas A&M student, I have frequented this coffee shop during my college years. It has several pros, but it has cons as well. PROS: - Wide menu selection - Lots of seating - Open until midnight - Beautiful environment of artwork/chandeliers/vintage vibes, cozy - Usually good music - Friendly staff - Decent amount of outlets - Donuts are amazing CONS: - Majority of the chairs are uncomfortable, especially for longer periods of studying - Some of the tables have no leg room - Drinks are kinda pricey, they are good but not great - Generally fairly busy, if you come close to finals expect no seating - Music can be pretty loud near the front - Bathrooms are a bit smelly Overall I recommend it, but only for certain "moods". If it's a late weekday and I want a coffee shop to study at, I will go to Eugene's. read more

Very eclectic spot for school work or socializing. The beans are perfectly roasted and the quiche was yummy.

They have like 235 free wifi options to connect to but......not 1 connects. I assume if a cafe offers that many seats for students to come get some studying done then they should offer a secure and strong wifi connection. The interior is huge. lots of seating. but unless you're here to do something that doesn't require wifi (reading a book) then I don't recommend. Their coffee was good. I got one of their signature lattes and its REALLY sweet so if you don't like sweet coffee then I would say stay away from those lattes. Seems like they also had a drive thru option which was cool The service was great. The girl at the counter was very sweet to explain what each latte had in it. They seem to have a lot of pastry options and even some food items. But My boyfriend and I only stayed for about 10min bc none of wifis were working. Stopped in on a very rainy day and got soaked due to the limited parking near the entrance. However they had a drive thru so I really can't complain! The inside was so charming and fun and surprisingly large! There were college students everywhere, no surprise there. I ordered a waffle latte, hot and was pleased with how cheap it was for the size I got. I also got my drink so quickly!! The drink itself was good but nothing amazing. As a college student, this coffee shop has been a staple in my college experience. One of the best things about Sweet Eugene's is its late hours, which makes it an easy first for me if I'm considering leaving home to go study somewhere. The menu is very large, with a ton of fun specialty drinks and food items (their donuts are actually really great), and it's easy to have the option to pick something totally different every time you go. Generally the coffee is not the best, since it leans pretty sweet, but I enjoy if nonetheless. This coffee shop was actually the first time I tried a vanilla latte, so it will probably always have a special place in my heart haha! Sometimes the environment can be a little overwhelming though, because depending on where you're sitting in the restaurant the music can be really loud and you can feel really smushed if your table is in a high traffic area. I've also generally accepted that I will have slow to no WiFi when I'm here, so I usually have to plan my studying accordingly. Overall, I really enjoy Sweet Eugene's when I'm in the mood and looking for a particular experience, but the lack of WiFi and ocasional overwhelming environment give me pause. read more
