    Kolaches baked fresh
    Clint M.

Once again, headed down to see my parents. Always stop in to get poppyseed pockets for my dad and fruit kolaches for my mom. The bathrooms are always clean. They have a nice store, it's a little more than a convenient store and bakery. There's all types of homemade pastries of breads along with a deli. I enjoy stopping here. It's just hard to pick out what you want cause I would like to have one of everything. Once you're able to pick out what you want the trick is getting it to a destination without you eating all of it. I have to put it in the back on the floorboard so it's out of my reach.

The bread was heaven!!!! My favorite was the sausage, jalepeno, cheese My son had the cherry kolache which was eaten so quick, i didn't get a pic. He said it was tart and sweet, very delicious. The ham and cheese was amazing but 10/10 recommend the sausage jalepeno. So good!!!

Compared to Hruska, the bread here is a bit more light.I guess it all comes down to preference. The people behind the counter mainly one lady had this 'tude like you were bothering here or taking up too much time even tho place was empty. For being my first actual kolache it wasn't bad but won't go out my way/1hr drive for them.

Excellent service and exceptional welcoming experience. I had a soft and delicious plain cinnamon roll. Sorry, no photos, the cinnamon roll was so good I forgot to take a picture. We also but a whole coconut pie. If you are in the area you cannot leave La Grange without getting one or two of the many delicious pies they have. There is coffee, a good food menu, plenty of seating to enjoy the goodies and fresh bread. The ambience is great! Here is a photo of the coconut pie .

Stopped by on our way to Marble Falls. We ordered a pastrami & provolone on toasted white bread and a Ruben sandwich with SunChips & drink. The counter ladies were very nice. A small snafu with getting both sandwiches was quickly remedied. We ordered 2 fruit kolaches...Apple & pineapple. We got a cream cheese instead of pineapple. The pastry is super soft. We enjoyed both of them. We also got a honeybee---a cinnamon roll with pecans & honey instead of frosting. That is quite nice. Lots of honey chopped pecans and again super soft pastry dough. Lastly we got 2 regular cinnamon rolls one with raisins and two one no raisins. We will eat them for breakfast tomorrow. I'm sure they're going to need awesome. There is a cute shop there too. Items are fairly expensive but very cute. We will stop again on the way back.

We stopped in for the bathrooms on a trip and decided to check out the bakery and store. The store was full of customers and it was hopping. The shelves were well stocked with pastries and all sorts of goodies that were freshly made. Unfortunately, if you're gluten-free you're out of luck. There wasn't anything fresh there you could have. Bummer. There also was a little store to the side but it was closed. Maybe it was too early? The bathrooms were clean and parking was easy.

Sometimes you just wonder if a place is going to live up to the hype and you sometimes find…read moreyourself surprised to know that it very much so does. For a place that has been voted the #1 restaurant in America before, it was a lovely experience! This location is a little over 30 mins away from me, which is beyond the distance I'm willing to drive for a meal in the middle of the week, but as it was my birthday week I decided to treat myself. And I am so glad that I did. I can say that everything about the experience eating here was pleasant. For one the fact that I arrived here after 7pm and they close at 8pm, yet there was a steady influx of customers speaks to just how popular they are. There was one person in line behind me and I felt bad for them a little because I knew I was going to ask a bunch of questions because I've been looking forward to coming here and it is out the way so I was going to ask the right questions to make sure I got something I liked. With that being said, the man taking my order was very helpful and patient. I know I took at least 5 mins to order yet he was cool answering all of the questions I had. I generally hate when the kiosk asks if I'd like to tip when I'm not dealing with a waiter but the service he provided paired with the amount of questions I had led me to leave a tip. Again I had to drive a distance to eat here so I went in knowing that I was going to be ordering food to eat there as well as being able to bring some home, because there is no telling when the next time will be that I want to make the trek. To keep things balanced, I ordered a cold and a hot sandwich. I went with a build your own for the cold sandwich and went with turkey and roast beef for meats, deli provolone for cheese, spring lettuce, roasted red peppers, red onion, olive smear and house marinated pepper blend for toppings, sub oil, spicy deli mustard and basil pesto (on the side) for extras, all on a crusty Italian roll for the bread. For the hot sandwich I went with the chicken parm and added light red onions to it. I also made my first sandwich a combo with chips and a drink. They serve Pepsi products for the fountain drinks and Zapp's products for the chips. One pet peeve I do have with places is that when I order an additional meat and don't feel like I got extra but instead just less of my other meat to make up for my extra. That is how I feel about the pastrami that I had added to my cold sandwich. Both sandwiches were really good. I wouldn't say that they were the best sandwiches I've ever had but they were solid. The cold sandwich was my creation so take that as you will. The flavors on it was all good, but nothing shooting over the moon to me. All of the food on the sandwich looked and tasted fresh. The hot sandwich is one of theirs with a slight add from me and it again was good but the flavor didn't just jump out for me. Making a chicken parm exceptional takes some work so I'm not mad at what they serve and it is cooked and served with an excellent broil on it. The bread on both sandwiches I will say was a stand out because it held up and had a good crust and chew while still being soft. I will say that I wasn't able to try many of their menu favorites because I don't eat pork, so some of those may be even more delicious. No complaints on any of the flavor but wouldn't have been made at a few more unctuous notes to the palate. I also got the cannoli which was cool. Nothing significant but I'm not mad that I got it. I would also like to note that the bathroom is kept very nice and smells well. I'm 90% sure that someone was blowing up the toilet before I went in yet it didn't stink when I went in. Not sure if they just sprayed a lot or the upkeep but either way kudos. I generally would've gotten food like this to go, but given the distance and that I wanted to get as fresh of a food experience as I can I did dine in. Getting there at the end of the day I was there as they were closing up. As they closed up the staff kept a respectable distance from me as I ate as to not disturb my food with the cleaning. Now that I've eaten here I can honestly say that I get why it has so much hype. Though I wasn't wowed by the food I was wowed by the service and the food was delicious. I'm not sure of when I'll next make the trip here but I do know that I'll feel confident that it will be a meal well enjoyed when I do. Thought I posted this review lol so I'll add to it since I returned again. Again great service and delicious food. The food here is so good and the location is so out of the way that both times I've gone I've left with 2 sandwiches for myself. I again got a Chicken Parm in all of it's deliciousness but this time made my cold BYO sandwich into a hot one and OMG was it banging! This place serves up deliciousness with ease.

I was recommended the turkey melt from an employee and let me tell you, it's amazing. I've also sampled the meatball and the chicken parmigiana sandwich. All excellent choices! Walk up counter service with a menu split neatly into cold cut and oven baked sandwiches. Going with the Devito, my mind was thoroughly blown by how flavorful the red sauce and meats were all together, it had a combination of textures from the crusty bread cured cuts that made it fun to chew through every bite. My Stallone was also just such a pleasant mix of flavor with the pesto playing a bigger role on the cold cut options. This is one of the places where I feel like you can spin the wheel and get a winner with whatever fate decides. Things seem pretty easy and affordable here. Portions were pretty big here and around $12-$15 a sandwich, more than enough for a single person with some for a midnight snack later. My only disappointment was that the menu described it as coming on a crusty Italian roll, but the bread was soft with no crunch. A true crusty roll would have taken it from great to outstanding. The girl at the counter recommended getting the hot peppers so I got some on the side, and she was absolutely right--I'll definitely be adding those to future sandwiches. My husband ordered the Danza but accidentally received the Dinero. He still enjoyed it and gave it a solid 7/10. We also tried the Chicken Parmesan. It had good flavor, though it was a little too bread-heavy for my taste. Overall, the food was fresh, flavorful, and the portions were more than generous.
