Top notch service and products! First off, I highly appreciate samples, especially when there are multiple tasty treats to choose from. It didn't actually make my choices any easier since they were unbelievably delicious and now I simply wanted to sample them all. But since they make mini cupcakes i didn't have to choose! I super appreciate when they include all the flavors in the smaller sizes as well. The carrot cake cupcake blew me away but the strawberry was so perfect and moist I have been thinking about driving the 50 minutes back to Bastrop for days. The hubby and I were looking for a place to get something sweet after dinner and I of course looked up dessert places in the area I was in and Simply Sweet came up. We looked at the pictures already posted so we decided to try it! Seriously one of the BEST cupcakes we have had! So moist! We ended up getting 4 cupcakes, chocolate with Peanut Butter frosting which was AMAZING!! German chocolate cupcake which my husband ate before I could take a picture but he said it AMAZING too! And we also got pecan pie cupcake and a snickerdoodle cupcake which we have not ate the last two yet! But I am sure they will just as delicious! I highly recommend this place! This is the second time we tried this bakery on our way to Austin. The cupcakes we had were good. This time however my daughter picked a root beer float cupcake as part of our 6 pack. We got to our hotel and she was so excited to eat it. She took a bite and she was given a hummingbird cupcake instead of the root beer float cupcake. So it went in the trash. It does seem that whenever someone needs cupcakes for an event in Bastrop that they serve Simply Sweet cupcakes and I certainly don't mind. Some of my favorite flavors include: carrot cake, strawberry, chocolate with peanut butter frosting, and red velvet. Be sure to check out their monthly and daily flavors. Call ahead if you're wanting a lot of a specific flavor as they occasionally run out. They have both regular and mini sizes and are pretty reasonably priced. This store offers mini cupcakes for $1 or regular sized for $2. Would definitely shoot for the regular sized. Smaller sized cupcakes are good for small treats during office birthdays. The store was able to take call-in orders and had them ready to go when we arrived. This location offers ice cream and other treat options so that is always a plus! I want to start out by saying that this review is more about customer service than the actually goodies that come out of this particular establishment. I would also like to add that I am a high ranking member of Procrastinators United. That being said, today is my best friend's birthday. Since I am the procrastinator that I am, I decided at 8am this morning to have cookies delivered to his office in Bastrop. Yes, Bastrop. Talk about challenging yourself. So I call a popular cookie delivery company in Austin (I wont say the name because I still love them). Low and behold they don't deliver to Bastrop. No shit, right? Then I decide to have an edible arrangement delivered. They WILL deliver to Bastrop. Oh but wait! They WILL deliver it to Bastrop... On Monday. I finally searched for a local mom and pop located in Bastrop and found Simply Sweet. Their website has no information on pricing or delivery so I took a shot in the dark and emailed them. Now here's the customer service part: 1: They responded almost immediately to my email. 2: They told me that I am more than welcome to call before operating hours to place an order. 3: They returned my call after they missed it. 4: They agreed to deliver even though I only called 3 hours in advance! 4: They delivered right on time. 5: It only cost $13 for a dozen cookies including delivery! The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that I have yet to try one of said cookies. I used to work in Bastrop (live in Austin), and this place has ruined me. How can I ever buy a cupcake in Austin now? Thanks Simply Sweet...if I am ever jonesing for a cupcake, I'm going to have to drive 45 minutes out of my way because nothing would ever be as good. The Key Lime cupcake actually makes my soul sing a little. If you get one of the regular sized ones, prepare for a sugar coma. I can't accomplish anything for at least an hour after. I will probably ask for them to make 100 cupcakes for my wedding. No lie. If for some reason you don't like lime (who are you?!), I also recommend the chocolate peanut butter, lemon raspberry, and red velvet.
