The woman who appeared to be the bakery manager, working around 8:15 a.m., answered every question with an attitude that felt forced, dismissive, and unwelcoming. When someone says, "This is my first time here," it's usually an opportunity to create a memorable experience--not make them feel like they're interrupting your morning. I won't be rating the bakery's famous pigs in a blanket because, to me, hospitality is part of the product. Outstanding customer service can elevate good food to a great experience. Without it, even the town's signature pastry loses some of its appeal.

I usually call in our order when we are about 20 minutes away from our stop. Everytime I call in the order the person on the other end is friendly and repeats back what we order. The convenient store part of Hruska's has a lot of items that you can choose from to purchase and they have clean bathrooms which is a positive. When we get there we park, walk in and head to pick up our food at the counter. It's usually labeled with the ticket stapled to the bag. We then get in line to pay for our food. The line is usually backed up but moves fairly quickly. There is also a small area with tables and chairs that you can sit at and enjoy your meal or sit there if you need a rest. For my meal I usually order a Hamburger which comes with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onions. I usually get mine with mustard. Their burgers are so good and a good size. Overall Hruska's is a great stopping place while traveling. Whether it's for gas, a bathroom break, or if you want to grab something to eat this is a one stop shop place.

They have very clean bathrooms and a nice area with tables inside if you want to stay and eat. They have a decent selection of drinks and snacks, and lots of clothing and boots for sale. But this time, we decided instead of a quick sandwich we would go ahead and order barbecue plates. Their prices are fairly inexpensive for barbecue and I think that's because they are not out back cooking on the pit all day. But the brisket and chicken were fair, made much better by their sauce. I liked the potato salad and I loved the green beans. I think the brisket sandwich is better than the brisket plate, so that's what I will go back to.

I got the large cranberry pecan spring mix salad and thought it was very good. I wondered about the size, because this is the first time I have ever finished a large salad. But the taste was good. The pasta salad was good but he said the sandwich, and the way it was smashed down a little, made it really chewy and very hard to eat. He ended up putting the inside of the sandwich on just one piece of bread and that helped. Afterward, I got one of their chocolate peanut butter cookies and it was delicious! The staff was very friendly and they even came to our table to take our order because we did not realize we were supposed to order at the counter. It looked like they had a nice wine selection so I may go back for a glass of wine with a friend but I doubt I would go back for a full meal again. I will say that we chose to sit at one of their small two person tables and I would never do that again. It was a metal table that bent and sort of popped up every time I would lean against it.
