Javanese chicken curry. Expecting good food? This is one is more than good!
    Sophie M.

As an Indonesian myself, I can tell that this is make me surprised because of it's delicacy! So far I've tried 4 different menu and all was satisfying. The Javanese chicken curry, which of course the one I must try because it says "javanese" means Indonesia lol I want to eat it again and again. I love how they cook it, it was not too strong not too soft, just right but superb!!! I even drooling again just to write this review! I'll definitely will comw back if I had chance. TIP : for those who never tried south east asian food before, this food truck held few different varieties that can make you "travel" at the same time. Not to mention the owner is super friendly & nice. What else that makes your meal memorable if not the delish food plus the hospitality?! ;) So far, this has been my favorite! 5 stars!

Having forgotten my lunch at home, I ventured out to check out the trucks for lunch today. Nom Nom Gourmet caught my eye - I love Asian food, and I hadn't had Thai in a while (although this truck is more of an Indonesian/Cambodian-focused truck, they did have a few noodle-based Thai and Chinese dishes). Since I hadn't tried this truck before, I pulled out my phone, opened up Yelp, and saw an average of 5 stars - that, coupled with the fact that this truck had the longest line - sold. Although I wavered a bit on what to order, my Thai food craving was pretty strong and I was feeling noodles vs. rice, so I decided on an order of Pad Thai with chicken, no sprouts. They asked me if I wanted it spicy, and I replied "a little spice" (I love spice, but I honestly prefer my Pad Thai on the sweet side - if I was going for spice I'd order something else entirely). I liked that the portion was extremely generous, especially for an under $10 meal. I also liked that the noodles were cooked well - not too soggy. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended for me. Maybe it's because I didn't ask for it spicy, but I found the noodles and chicken to be fairly dry. I also found it a little odd that there was broccoli in the dish as well, not something you'd typically see of Pad Thai. I ended up adding a good amount of Sriacha just to give it some moisture, which of course made it end up more on the spicy side than sweet, but that was ok - it was so dry that it honestly wasn't very sweet anyway, so at least now it was moist! The sauce also helped a lot with the broccoli, which was also on the dry side. Hmmm. Good, not great - "ok" (yep, minus the A-) is pretty on-point with what I'm thinking. Not bad enough to warrant a 2 - it was better than meh - maybe I just ordered the wrong thing and should focus on their Indonesian specialties. 2.5 stars.

Since Indonesian food isn't easy to find in the DMV, I'm really grateful to have Artha Rini so close to home. The restaurant itself is small, casual, and welcoming, and everyone we interacted with was genuinely friendly. I ordered the Soto Ayam, and it was exactly what I was hoping for--warm, comforting, and flavorful without needing to add much of anything. My wife had the Pecel Lele, which was tasty, though the fish was just a little overcooked. My only other minor complaint is that I wish the portions were a bit larger. One thing to note is that the menu leans pretty heavily on coconut milk, which can be tricky for my wife because she has a sulfite allergy. What really impressed us, though, was Artha herself. She patiently answered all of our questions and even told us that if we call ahead, she'll source the one brand of coconut milk that doesn't contain sulfites so she can prepare dishes my wife can safely enjoy. That level of care and customer service is hard to find these days, and it's more than enough reason for us to keep coming back. We're excited to work our way through the rest of the menu.

The husband chatted a bit about the cuisine and provided information which I didn't know, which was awesome. He let me try a bite of beef rendang and it was amazing. I almost switched my order. What I did order was the chicken rendang, which came with rice, salad, and a dumpling, along with lumpia. The lumpia were crisp and well-filled. The chicken was delicious and spicy and the vegetables fresh. I'm really looking forward to returning and recommend that you if you see this food truck, you try it.

During covid, our neighborhood has been bringing various food trucks to the local elementary school…read morefor food pick up. I thought that was a great idea to help support small businesses during this difficult time. And I was excited to try Indonesian food. I pre-ordered two chicken curries in the morning and all I had to do was pick up at 5:15 pm according to the instructions. When the time came, I was ready to walk the block and half to the school for pick up. At the last minute, my husband offered to drive there. Within minutes of him getting to the school, rain started to pour down with ferocious winds. Luckily, he was in the car but he ended up waiting 30 minutes for our meals when I had pre-ordered it hours ago!!! Because the truck was coming to our neighborhood, a woman and her child did walk to the truck and they were soaked waiting for their food. The chicken was a smaller portion than we had anticipated and a little bland. I expected a lot more flavor but am glad it wasn't spicy. I enjoyed the salad dressing with a hint of peanut. I did have to scoop out the dab of chilis in the salad. Lumpia and fried corn fritter were pretty good. They did try to follow my instructions with rice on the side and no utensils/napkins. They couldn't put the rice in a separate container but they did put it by itself in the one large container. I'm also glad they didn't give us any plasticware or paper products. It's always so wasteful when I know I have reusable utensils at home when I do take out these days. I wanted to like this place more.
