Food and service excellent. They accommodated my requests to my liking and the food was fresh. Perfect amount of spice. I've been here a couple of times and they have not disappointed. It's hard to find Thai food in that area, but they actually get it right. This is the basil fried rice. It comes with egg, and I added the combination meats, spices, and pineapples. Their green curry is amazing so I ordered a side of that as well. Very fresh ingredients. I'll be back for it again. read more

Thai Yum - This is the basil fried rice, combination which includes beef, chicken, and shrimp. - Thai Near Me - Hillcrest Heights, Maryland

Okay. I guess I'll start at the beginning. Why is this little spot still open? Why do they have "YUM" in their name? I'm sorry that I don't have anything positive to say unfortunately. I really wanted to. Service? although there was one person standing at the register. No greeting. Ordered from the Kiosk. There was no food presented. Which should have been a huge sign but no... not for me. I still ventured on and ordered the PHO. Simple right? Absolutely NOT. I ordered to go and as always I checked my order although they tried to staple my bag shut. Nope . I ordered Chicken with shrimp. I opened my bowl site. Guess what.... NO SHRIMP! When I brought it to the attention of the one staffer who proceeded to question me. He then printed out my order and took it to the back. He emerged with a bowl of three boiled shrimp. At which point I proceeded to laugh out loud. Watery broth. Red onion ( not spring); extra for cost for lime, hoisin and sriracha. Yeah? No... absolutely NOT. They actually should consider changing their Menu Patronize at your own discretion read more

I can't speak to the ambience of the location since this was an Uber Eats order. However, the food and service were A1. I ordered the Thai basil fried rice, pan fried dumplings, red curry with chicken, and spring rolls. I'd highly recommend ordering the curry! Perfect amount of spice and it already comes with white jasmine rice. Sooo for me ordering the fried rice was overkill, and mines was just okay. I'd also order the spring rolls again, they were perfectly crispy. All my food was properly packaged and arrived hot to me! read more

This place is located inside of The Spot food hall next to the Branch Avenue Metro. Plenty of parking and easily accessible (ramp access is a plus for those who may need it). I loved the concept of ordering using a tablet. Each restaurant inside of the food hall has a tablet right in front for easy ordering. I ordered the pad Thai with chicken and spring rolls. I came around lunch time and the food was ready in about 10 minutes. Everything came out piping hot which is one of the most important factors for me when ordering food out. The noodle portion was generous, enough for two or three servings depending on how hungry you are. This pad Thai included the noodles, bean sprouts, spring onion, red onion, scrambled egg, and of course chicken (lemon wedge on the side). The flavor was a bit sweet, but it wasn't bad at all. Just a different flavor than what I'm used to for pad Thai. My only complaint about the pad Thai was that the chicken that was used had a gummy texture, similar to the chicken used for bourbon chicken in the malls. I did not eat any more of the chicken and honestly could have done without it. The spring rolls were okay. I was excited to try them because they were not made with shrimp. But they were just too greasy for me, and this took away from the flavors. Seating is open since it's located inside of the food hall. Very clean tables and a great spot to meet up informally for lunch or grab a bite before getting on to the train. I took away two stars for the gummy chicken and greasy spring rolls. read more

The menu had lots of pictures just like how the plates were served. I really wanted the papaya salad but they were sold out of it. We ended up getting the spicy chicken leg which had some flavor but wasn't super spicy. The steamed dumplings were okay. Again not spicy in the red sauce. Overall okay. Jake, kev, amy read more

I ordered pad Thai with beef, green curry with tofu and summer roll takeout. I think the pad tai could have used more bean sprouts and peanuts but it was still very good and seasoned. Pad Thai: 8.5/10 The green curry had a beautiful aroma. Authentic spices and herbs were used. Had a tad bit of heat. I usually like more heat but I understand many people not eat spicy food. Green Curry Tofu: 9/10 The summer rolls were ok. They could have been better. Needed more pean read more

This restaurant is in a food hall. The service isn't good, the gentleman at the counter wasn't very friendly or helpful. I got the Drunken Noodles with beef and it wasn't good. More like Thai Yuck! I ordered summer rolls that looked like they were prepared by a toddler. Crispy Wontons? The weirdest texture and bad taste. They were not even wontons. The fancy bag everything was delivered in was the best part of it all. read more

I was looking forward to this order. I ordered chicken pad Thai spring rolls, which was supposed to be by one get one free and mango sticky rice. They did not send me the extra order of spring rolls. I don't even care about that. The issue was the chicken pad Thai I knew as soon as I opened it and could smell the spice radiating it was so spicy it was red. It was covered and some kind of chili sauce, I did not ask for this dish to be spicy. This dish is not a spicy dish like that I could not even eat it. $20 down the drain. read more

This is located in a pool hall called The spot. One of many selections I decided to try this one out because I like trying new type places. This is a mix of Thai and Vietnamese essentially can Asian very good food. They're very busy and hence the service is a little bit slow with the counter but I guess that's a sign that the food is good. Excellent. I was so excited for Thai food to be included at The Spot. Unfortunately, Thai Yum leaves more to be desired. I've been a couple of times and the biggest downside is that everything is way too oily. I LOVE Thai food, so I know that the right balance of flavors, colors, and texture makes a huge difference. The pros: Food was prepared quickly (no excessive wait). Service is efficient and the ambiance is the same as The Spot- open seating and clean. However, the search for great Thai in the area continues. read more

Grabbed an appetizer and free drink with Yelp check in for #SummerFoodHalliday. Service was great, ordering was easy (I ordered at the counter, but they also have a kiosk). I was immediately given my drink and a buzzer for when the food was ready. Spring rolls were ready quickly and were hot and tasted fresh as they were cooked perfectly. The coconut and pineapple milk drink was refreshing. Next time, I'd like to try an entree here. read more

I came to Thai Yum here on a Friday afternoon. The space was clean and I found seating almost immediately. I ordered the lunch special which was pepper shrimp with rice. I placed my order at the counter. The staff was pretty polite during our brief encounter. My meal: The flavor of the sauce on the shrimp was really tasty, but the shrimp were slightly undercooked which was a little disappointing. I checked in with Yelp and received my free beverage which was a Thai drink; I chose the Mango flavor. It was a little different in taste. I couldn't get past the seeds but if you don't mind seeds in a drink it's not bad. read more

Curry Fried Rice It was just okay. Not enough curry in the dish at all. I ended up taking the rice home to doctor it up with more curry. The combination version came with only 3 pieces of shrimp in the whole bowl. Good portion size. It was also a little sweet which is odd. I am a Thai food snob though. Thai Yum is a recently added Thai eatery that is part of the Spot dining hall. They offer items such as appetizers, curries, pineapple fried rice, pho, and desserts (like mango sticky rice). I was surprised and a little bit curious that they had pho on the menu! Unfortunately, when we went, they were still preparing for their grand opening; when I spoke with the staff, they stated it would be a couple more days... have to sit tight for this one! They're located right next to Kotaco/Alpaca Dessert on the right side of the dining hall. Did I get a bad batch of curry chicken? Just my luck. I too went there for a Yelp Elite event.I asked if there was anything that I couldn't order, they said "anything". Can I have the Chef Special? Response "We don't have it yet" Well I thought, if you are going to act like a Jamaican restaurant and post on your menu what you don't have ( and yes I am Jamaican), then I'll order the Curry Chicken And yes I have had delicious Asian curry before. My mother always told me not to "throw stones behind me" so I won't say anything bad. So I'll say that the mango coconut drink was delicious. read more

I had the sticky rice and mango first, and yes, I know it is a dessert item... But I couldn't wait!!! The contrast between the sticky rice and delightful mango was perhaps made in heaven! This restaurant makes absolutely irresistible mango sticky rice. I've been to numerous Thai restaurants and ordered this dish many times. This spot surely adds up with the best of them. A must have items.  Next, I sampled the pineapple rice. The dish had seasoned  jasmine rice with chunks of fresh pineapple, bell pepper, and onion. Now, this dish was fairly good, and I enjoyed every bite of it. The only thing I will say is that I wish the pineapples were slightly sweeter. Otherwise, it is a very enjoyable dish. Last,Thai basil chicken is a classic Thai dish that is beloved by many foods, and this spot did it justice. The texture of the dish was tender and juicy, with the chicken absorbing all the flavors of the basil and jalapeno. The combination of flavors and textures and the egg on top made this dish a delightful and satisfying meal. The portion size was great! The customer service was excellent, and the price point was perfect! This place is a must try, and I tip my hat off to the chef that made this excellent meal! Will definitely eat here again. read more

Just ordered the beef pho on uber eats and it wasn't good. I was skeptical ordering pho from a Thai place and should have trusted my gut! The beef doesn't really taste good and the worst part is that it didn't come with siracha or hoisin sauce. I saw the option to add it for an extra fee but figured that that was extra because pho always comes with those things. Their other food might be better but don't order pho from here lol read more

I was able to try stir fry ramen for the first time ever at Thai Yum, and it did not disappoint! This was my second time at The Spot Food Hall in the past week to take advantage of the Yelp Elite perk. There was some confusion when I first checked in about the Yelp swag, which was a set of chopsticks but eventually, we were able to figure it out! The staff were extremely friendly and did a great job answering my questions. I opted for one of the more popular dishes, stir fry Ramen with beef and shrimp. It was so yummy and a great portion size. I had to split it to 2 meals. I also got the passionfruit flavored drink and that was good too. Excited to have another food venue so close to home with a good food variety! read more

We ordered takeout from them tonight. Had the basil chicken, tofu pad Thai, wontons, and papaya salad. This is a solid place. The pad Thai had wonderful flavor and a good heat to it that wasn't overpowering, though I do wish it there was a little less heat. I was not expecting mushrooms in my pad Thai but it actually went in there pretty well. The tofu also had a lot of flavor and not too hard. The wontons also had good flavor and the sweet and sour sauce to it. The papaya salad is a standard Thai papaya salad, though my preference is the Lao style papaya salad. The food was very hot and made fresh. I think this is a solid Thai restaurant spot. read more

Gave Thai Yum! a try on Easter Monday afternoon. The food hall was clean and nice and quiet right before the lunch rush. I ordered a small tom yum soup and lychee basil seed drink. The server was very helpful in assisting me with my drink selection, can't go wrong with lychee if you like Asian flavors. The soup had squid and fish balls and a nice flavor. I was surprised though, when I ordered the soup not anticipating it had coconut milk in it. It's ok, I don't mind coconut milk but if it had said Tom Kha, I would've known it was coconut milk-based and probably wouldn't have gotten. Either way though, it was good Overall a good experience, enough to warrant a return visit read more

I made a pick up order and when I came in the associate said they didnt have any. Didnt elaborate at all so the assumption can be made that they had no ingredients on hand. When I asked to cancel the order that they didnt make they refused. I talked to customer service and only by the time I drove all the way home did they say they could remake the order, 30 minutes later. Wasnt willing to work with customer, only opted to make the order when issue was addressed by leadership, and unrealistically expected me to waste gas and time when they could have communicated to me at the store that there was a wait for my order instead of just saying they didnt have any. read more

This review includes their menu with prices (see photos). This eatery fully opened on May 11, 2023. They are located in The Spot Food Hall. My wife and I decided to visit after talking with the owner before he fully opened. He was friendly, interesting, and energetic. They sell pho and fried calamari. Dishes you wouldn't expect at a Thai eatery. We got the following: 1) Papaya salad    It had shredded papaya, iceberg lettuce, sliced cherry tomatoes, diced red chiles, red cabbage, and shredded carrots. The sauce was spicy hot with mild flavors of sugar, fish sauce, and citrus. Everything was fresh. This is a good tasting salad, except it could be better with shrimp paste. That's a Laotian thing. Note: You can get it with or without crushed peanuts. 2) Drunken Noodle    It had wide rice noodles stir-fried in chili and garlic sauce with scallion, onion, bell pepper, and basil. It comes spicy or not spicy. It comes with a choice of chicken, beef, veg/ tofu, squid ($1 extra), shrimp ($1.25 extra), or combo (chicken/shrimp/beef $2.99 extra). We chose beef. The beef was somewhat tender and moist with a good flavor. The dish was oily and moderately spicy hot with mild flavors of garlic, onion, and brown sauce. The brown sauce tasted like a blend of fish sauce, soy sauce, and sugar. It was nicely balanced. They should increase the brown sauce so the flavor can shine through. I've had more flavorful versions elsewhere. 3) Pad Thai    It had rice noodles stir-fried in tamarind sauce with egg, scallion, basil, and bean sprouts. You can get it with or without crushed peanuts. It comes with the same choices of protein as in the Drunken Noodle. We chose beef. The beef was moist and a little chewy with a good flavor. The sauce was too weak. It was mild in flavor. Tamarind sauce should be a little tangy and slightly sweet balanced with salty fish sauce. The sauce needs some improvement. The ingredients were fresh and cooked well.    The dining areas and restrooms were clean. There are 3 stalls in the women's restroom. The men's restroom has 2 urinals and 2 stalls. Both restrooms are handicap accessible. There are five cash operated arcade machines and a punch measuring machine in the dining area. I included photos of them. The food was enjoyable, and the service was friendly, helpful, and attentive. The parking is free and plentiful. The atmosphere is relaxed. What's not to like? Give them a visit when you're in the area! read more

I ordered from them for the first time through door dash. I got chicken pho & the broth was dark, so I think they gave me beef broth. I didn't like the broth at all, it didn't taste like chicken, it taste like tap water & salt. The chicken also just taste like the smell of chicken meat, no flavor but looked like there was a red rub or something on it. The pho just wasn't good taste wise. It looked really good so I was very disappointed in the taste & will go to my usual pho places next time. read more

This is NOT Thai Curry, more like curry soup out of a can. No coconut milk, very oily and barely any curry flavor. I had 4 chicken bristle pieces to the point I just stopped eating. I ordered the green curry with just vegetables and it was like a curry soup with diced vegetables. I then ordered the pad Thai it was okay but not what I expected. My friend got the shrimp Thai basil friend rice, she said it was good. The rice came with 4 shrimp lol. I switched the two dishes I didn't like (pad Thai and green curry) for the Thai basil rice as soon as I got the rice she found a piece of fabric in her rice and had to return it. They lady tried to tell her it was egg but it was not. Then I tasted that fried rice and it was so salty. Overall service was okay because they did make the exchanges and refunds. The food hall was hot as hell but had plenty seating. I would not go back I was left with a dish I could not eat (extremely salty) so that was a waste of money. read more

Kinda sad....thought I was getting a good Thai spot near my house. I tried twice and both times I was disappointed. I don't think the containers they put the food in is good. Not like other hawker places in the US. Every Fast food options we tried here lacks some essential Asian cuisine flavors. Soups are too watery, and majority of the ingredients are precooked. I've actually visited the Spot location numerous time, but recently tried this particular restaurant, which recently opened. I ordered the drunken noodles with shrimp, Singapore noodles with chicken, chicken fried rice and dumplings. While the items were not cheap, they were definitely plentiful. Additionally, none of the items disappointed in flavor. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars was due to the wait of 30 minutes for my food. However, they were very friendly and apologetic regarding the wait, which is a positive in customer service. I definitely would dine again there. read more

Inside the Spot food hall. I didn't actually order anything from here because none of the curries are vegetarian/vegan. They all have fish sauce in them. I was super bummed.
