They sent a bunch of instructions on the phone, most of it was confusing. I ordered a economy gas saver car, they gave me the keys and said its out in the parking lot, it was a mid size chevy, not gas saver at all. And i had the check engine light come on the next day after i got the car. I texted them, and they didnt get back to me for 2 days just saying its my last name. No idea, but i didnt drive the car for those 2 days to figure whats happening, once i got the confusing text, i went back to check the car and the light went off so i just used it as normal. But then the return instructions got confused also, so they said they were goinna charge me for a parking fee, and i explained stuff to them, and asked how much the fee would be and they just ghosted me, but i did get a charge on my card the next day. Terrible communication, and if its your money, they don't care but if its for them, they will take it regardless.

I saw a really good deal for a 3 day rental for the car company "Economy," and jumped on it immediately. After taking the shuttle from the airport, the shuttle driver informed everyone that if they rented with Economy, no need to go inside the car rental center because a minivan would bring us to them from the sidewalk. Sure enough, a white minivan was parked on the sidewalk. After a brief ride to the other side of the street from the airport, we stopped at an old IHop building, I think, that's connected to a Days Inn. The sign above the Economy sign read "NOLA rent-a-car." These people are the official partner of Economy car rental. After a smooth check in with friendly customer service, we were brought to our vehicle. Not a bad looking vehicle. Turned on the vehicle and the tire pressure warning system was on. I informed the lady that we needed air in the tires and she gave me an entirely different car without hesitation. The new car...oh, the new car! The adage, "you get what you pay for" came to mind. Damage all over the vehicle! The windshield had chips galore throughout! The radio didn't have a button to turn it off! The entire above my head interior was gritty and grimy! I laughed when I saw all the imperfections. While driving the vehicle, somehow the air conditioning was connected to movement...I stepped on the brakes and sometimes the air would blow hot. The ac would be on artic mode while driving! Enough with this long review. Know this, the car worked. Yes it was banged up...yes the interior needed a deep cleaning... yes buttons are missing off the car... yes to many things...but it's just a rental to get me from point A and to get me to various other points without fail. The vehicle did exactly that. I did not lack confidence in it that the car would get the job done. If you have an event that that requires a certain level of looks, then come here and look over the inventory. If you don't see anything worth your money, then go pay extra for the look somewhere else. If you don't need all the bells to ring just right, and your whistle to blow the loudest, then you should be fine right here. Save your money, get where you are going and enjoy New Orleans.

The absolute worst. Be prepared with terms that are not on their contract - like, bring your insurance card, or your reservation isn't valid. They also say they're at the airport; they're not. Lastly, here are some pictures of the filthy car. They said they were giving me an "upgrade"... yikes.

Do not rent from here!! The car I rented was unsafe, unclean and the service is equally poor. This pick up location is off site from the other rental cars and you need to take an additional "shuttle" (Minivan) to the shack over 2 miles away where they eventually give you a vehicle. I got a 5+ year old beat up car with 2 visible cracks in the windshield, numerous dings and dents on the body. Also the inside looked like it had just returned from a camping trip and smelled like someone was currently smoking a cigar in the vehicle. I returned the car after less than a day and was unable to get any of my money returned back to me for the next 4 days I had paid for. Just don't do it.

Not leave people hanging without transportation! I booked this rental 2 weeks in advance. And was totally screwed.

Not in the same place as the rest of the rentals. Confusing to get in and out of. Cheaper but inconvenient and the cars are older.

Today at 9:30am 1/9/2026 I received a damage vehicle while leaving out of the parking lot and…read moredidn't learn about it until 10:40am. Normally any location an agent will walk around the car with you and do a walk through and note any damage but not today! The car was nice and clean and I didn't think to walk around and take pictures! Let alone the front desk agent or even the agent at the booth didn't mention anything about filling out a damage form. As I went Togo return the car at 1pm same day. An agent ( Kenny) so the managers says was nasty! Rude and unfriendly. I'm not saying this because I'm upset but the whole approach saying he didn't have a damage report and that I did this was uncalled for! I then asked to get footage of me leaving out the parking lot which took the other so called manager Caleb a whole hour! /saying that there was no damage then when he found and angle to the passenger side on the video! There was a DENT!! he then laughed after I pointed it out and this was all done at 2:07pm in the office in the middle of the cars. Very unprofessional! I told him he needs to fix the color contrast of the video and I would like a copy. He then said it takes over 24hrs! And only god knows if this scamming location will send it. There was no apology but a laugh in the face when there was proof. And just for him to say file a report! very disappointed! I spend lots of money with this company and today you had excuses! ms. shawdawn Johnson? Mentioned there to busy to do walk throughs with customers to point out damage when the customers are responsible. But when I was told to go pick out my car today with a free upgrade Caleb himself was chilling with two other colleagues! So if that's called busy then that tells me everything I needed to know!! WORSE LOCATION IVE EVER RENT WITH!! LAX ORD , SEA ,OAK are very smooth to rent from. Go where your time and money is appreciated!

We reserved a Nissan Rogue or similar online directly through Alamo, with the skip-the-line option…read more Upon arrival at MSY, you'll have to leave the terminal, exit the building, and cross the street to one of the waiting shuttle buses for the 25-minute ride to the car rental center. Upon leaving the bus, follow the signs and head upstairs to the Alamo car rental. They have clean restrooms just outside the pick-up area. Our similar, just-washed, and low-mileage GMC Terrain was brought to us. The vehicle ran well for the week. Upon return, if you choose to fill it up yourself, the only gas station nearby is the Shell on Blues Street. Once you commit to Rental Drive, you cannot access it. When you return your Alamo rental, go all the way to the top of the ramp. Drive over the "don't back up spikes" and look for the attendant to direct you where to park. They will ask if you want a printed or emailed receipt, and that's it. Don't forget to take pictures and video of your rental, inside and out, to avoid allegations of damage. I would return to the Alamo in the future for my vehicle rental needs.

What's the point in a reservation when you have to wait more than a hour for an available rental. Do not recommend. Lesson learned. Never EVER again.

Then we had to spend two hours sitting at an electric charger before continuing to our destination. At the end of the week, I received a $250 cleaning fee. We called to ask what the fee was for and apparently it was just for a little bit of sand that did not count as requiring a cleaning fee so they took it off. seems like a lot of carelessness that caused us to be inconvenienced and almost charged $250 when I should not have been.

The person that took care of me was able to make it work although it took longer than if they had updated the board with my name. but never the less it was a 100% improvement over my last visit. I had a really nice sedan that was clean and was very efficient . At this point I will continue to use them with my referred status.

The rental experience, particularly at the MSY location, is painful from beginning to end. I can understand why this low-budget rental car provider is the only option for some, but if you can afford any other brand then I'd encourage you to explore those options. The Dollar employees leave the desk prior to the MSY Rental Facility closing (the building is 24 hours, but the rental companies each close at different times -- those closing times are not disclosed on the airport website). When I arrived, the Hertz employees were still present, so I requested their assistance with my reservation (Hertz owns the Dollar and Thrifty brands). I can't remember a time when I've had a more unpleasant experience with a company representative. This experience was shared by 12-15 other customers who later showed up with the same expeditions. The bottom line -- there is no other rental car company that disregards its customers to the same degree as Dollar and Thrifty.
