Complete scam artists! I am disputing fraudulent charges on my card. They did not have the car I rented off Booking.com when I arrived. Then after arguing with the customer service rep, he told me he would put me in a different vehicle and honor the reservation and rate at the ticket counter. However, without my knowledge, he changed my rental reservation from a three day to a one day rental in the system and failed to mention it. They then charged my card late fees when I returned the vehicle within the time of my original reservation. Lastly, they booked everything under the wrong person and let me leave the rental facility with someone allegedly checking licences before you leave. I of course never got any receipts when I returned the vehicle as they were sent to the wrong person. I found out all this after looking at my credit card and seeing hundreds of dollars more on my card than was expected. There incompetence knows no bounds and their practices are deceptive. I am never renting from this company again. Do yourself a favor and use a different company. The $30 bucks you think you are saving, you are not. I have spent a month and a half helping my credit card company fight of the illegitimate charges and it is still ongoing. They even had the nerve to send my credit card company the contract which clearly has all wrong information on it and call it a legitimate transaction. What a joke! read more

When I set up flight arrangements to come home to Louisiana for a week via a third party, this car rental was included as one of the vendors. To be honest, I've never heard of this sector which is part of the Hertz family. Would it be a wise choice for yours truly? After landing at Louis Armstrong International Airport, I took the shuttle to the main hub for rental companies. The line for Dollar Car Rental was only one person. Initially, I set up the rental for a few days but it couldn't be changed since I used a 3rd party. But the staff was able to extend it with no problems. They were able to lend me a full-size Camry Hybrid which was pretty neat. The collusion waiver was a bit pricey, but well worth it if you're driving in the city or parking in certain areas. I was able to return the vehicle in time for the flight home. Dollar Car Rental definitely took care of me for the week. Hopefully I'll be able to run into them in the near future :) read more

If I could give this place a zero rating I'd give it negative 100 stars. Three hour wait for cars, after having reserved and paid a down payment online days prior. If you ask why people behind you are getting their cars first they will get upset. If you love yourself or your sanity pay the extra money to rent from anywhere but this place or Thrifty because they're the same help desk. Actually the worst business you can imagine but then even worse than that because you end up paying about 70$ more than what they initially quote you. Literally a 29$ drives license processing fee that they don't mention until you've wasted 3 hours in their line and would rather give them your left kidney then repeat the experience ever again. Cannot say enough how I'd rather walk through an alligator filled swamp then go through this car rental company again read more

Been waiting over an hour for a car. The line has over 30 people in it and 1 person working the desk. There's probably another 15 people sitting around on the bench and they're calling up 1 person every 20 minutes to, presumably, get their car. There's no estimated wait time. Person at the desk keeps leaving. Horrible experience. Gave us issues checking in online and it won't let us cancel online. The cancel page just reloads when we try to cancel read more

Waited in line for 2 hours at Newark airport. Not only were there no cars, but the agent was rude, incompetent, slow, and created problems where there were none. When she was finally joined by another agent, he was much more efficient, but also rude and spent at least 15 minutes cleaning his work station before he would even make eye contact with customers. Also, I told him I wanted to prepay for gas, but he didn't put that in my contract. Luckily I checked before I got back to the airport. I will never use Dollar again. (All the other companies had plenty of cars, BTW, only Dollar had none.) read more

Dollar express is no longer what it used to be. I had some issues with the reservation and the price. The guy who put me into the biggest pick up truck said that was all they had for the "manager special" and then tried to charge more than double of my reservation! I was able to get it resolved but it was highly disappointing. The truck was brand new and full of gas and that was about the only positive part, and the guy who helped me get the reservation and price straight was exceptional. read more

No Southern hospitality here. MSY car rental is the worst airport car rentaI have dealt with in my 50 years of travels, including internationally. If you are new to renting here, you really might want to reconsider your plans to rent a car here. Look at the other reviews. They aren't pleasant. Signage here is poor to nonexistent especially for returns. There is no phone number to contact anyone at the 600 Rental Car Blvd location. They close early, so if you have a delayed flight, you might have to spend the night at the rental terminal. If you are familiar with this location, you will at least know the ropes here. Good luck, you'll need it. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. Do not come here; they will ruin your day and waste your time. Plus, the employees are rude. Warning: they do not honor same day reservations. Why did it not tell me online that they do not honor same day reservations? Why did it allow me to make a reservation if they don't allow same day reservations? Why not grey out today's date so I can't select it, if I can't rent a car? Dollar Car Rental wasted so much of my time and energy. After people went up to the counter, they didn't even receive their car right away. They had to go sit on a bench and wait even longer for the keys to their car. After waiting in a long, slow line for over 45 minutes I finally stepped up to the counter. I was met with immediate hostility when the employee was asking for my name and drivers license. Then, I was told that they don't honor same day reservations and they don't have a car for me. The employee did not display any empathy, kindness, or basic customer service. I am absolutely dumbfounded by my experience at this business and I hope to ward off whoever reads this and save you the stress that I endured. read more

Don't go to this rental skippppp. I try renting a vehicle with them I had already paid for the full amount for the 3 days I was going to be there rented with Expedia. Read the policy does not say anything about you have to have a returning flight ticket. Expedia and I went through it but they couldn't do anything because dollar rental is hungry about money and denied my refund even tho I wasn't able to skip that part. You have to have a returning flight ticket if not there's nouthing they can do for you and they will sit there and pretend like there helping u and blame the third party. But yet dollar rental it's the one denying my refund When others do wrong, the Bible teaches us to trust in God's justice and not to seek revenge. Would give zero if I could. Absolute worst experience! My flight was delayed so by the time I arrived at the MSY location their counter was closed, thrifty and hertz were also closed, so there was no way to check in and get my car. Tried online, tried calling customer service but the office hours were already past too. They state that if you don't pick up your car you get charged full price for no show. So, over $100+ dollars down the drain. Absolutely nothing to do to get my money. It's criminal really! DO NOT USE any hertz owned brand!! read more

Damien is likely a paid rater. There is a reason every other person rates this 1 star. The only issue I have is the charge for 1.4 gallons of gasoline. I filled the tank up before I returned it and the line was past full. I called and I have to submit a receipt for refund. It's less than $20. I'm guessing the company is counting on folks just not bothering themselves while they rack up the extra money. I had no issues with getting the car, the car itself, or returning it. I might use them again. In the future, I will find an employee and have them check me out to avoid any false or deceptive charges. read more

Dollar Car Rental - Be prepared to wait and suffer - Car Rental Near Me - Kenner, Louisiana

I always attempt to represent the negative, positive, and neutral aspects of my experience with company in my review. In the case of Dollar Rental, there are no positive or neutral aspects. The rental experience, particularly at the MSY location, is painful from beginning to end. I can understand why this low-budget rental car provider is the only option for some, but if you can afford any other brand then I'd encourage you to explore those options. The Dollar employees leave the desk prior to the MSY Rental Facility closing (the building is 24 hours, but the rental companies each close at different times -- those closing times are not disclosed on the airport website). When I arrived, the Hertz employees were still present, so I requested their assistance with my reservation (Hertz owns the Dollar and Thrifty brands). I can't remember a time when I've had a more unpleasant experience with a company representative. This experience was shared by 12-15 other customers who later showed up with the same expeditions. The bottom line -- there is no other rental car company that disregards its customers to the same degree as Dollar and Thrifty. read more

ZERO STARS!!!!! Reserved Car online on Sept. 28. Flew in November 14 to MSY. Received text from Dollar that day, telling me to "check in online, and they would hold reservation for up to 8 hours after flight arrival, in case it was late." Flight was early, so I headed to rental counter. We were told (me and everyone else going to counter) that they didn't have any more cars... even if you had a reservation! This was 11:30pm. We were told to cancel our reservation, try Enterprise, or come back at 6am and see if they had any cars. What is the point of "RESERVING" if you don't keep the cars in "RESERVE"? This cost me and a lot of other travellers a lot of money. Had to pay for UBER and rent a car through Turo (for more than dollar rental). AND...now I have to fight to get a refund (btw...the phone number is out of services, and you can only contact their support via a website form). read more

0 Trash service. Make a reservation to wait an hour. Lady behind the counter whispers to customers so you have to constantly ask her to repeat herself then she answers the phone at a normal volume? Terrible, horrible service! Had to wait hours after my due pickup time to get a car. I ended up walking around the airport tired and exhausted with my disabled father to pass time. Customer service was not responsive, they seemed sleepy and not up for a task. I'm from New York, this kind of customer service would be highly frowned upon and verbally met by customers who pay good money for services. And the girl at the counter had the audacity to ignore my questions and turn away from me. To say I am disappointed would be an understatement. Everyone in line was anxious and on the verge of breaking down. read more

Rental car companies have an oligopoly. A few companies own all the names. So when the rental price is too high, or the service is poor, there is nothing you can do about it. The next company is likely to be just as bad. Dollar had me wait 1 hour and 10 minutes in line before I got my car. My rental price was too high considering how empty my flight was. There is nothing anyone can do about this. It just makes me feel better to vent. read more

The Dollar counter was closed when we arrived. There was no phone number at the counter to call for support. The phone number listed for the company on my confirmation went to voicemail for an organization that had nothing to do with car rentals. The phone number that came up when I searched for for Dollar Car Rental was answered by someone from another car rental company who was not helpful and very difficult to understand. I had to call my bank to dispute the charges for Dollar because I had pre-paid. I will never do business with Dollar Car Rental again. read more

For the customer service of the actual car rental. Everything was great. The problem I have is when I locked myself out of the car.. I called the rental place to get someone to unlock it since it seem that they have OnStar. The gentleman asked how many people are in the car. I said none because we weren't have call to get it unlock if someone is in the car. He then mentioned how it may take 60 mins but it's not even a guarantee that AAA can unlock the car since the keys are in the back in the trunk. So I asked "so you telling me after 20mins of answering useless questions and standing in this cold temperature. There is still no guarantee that you can unlock the car?" But he turns and asked me, "how cold is New Orleans now?". I was livid at this point so I hung up. I will rent from Dollar again. However, if anything is wrong. I will dodge the customer services dept like a plague.. since they were very very rude. And can not help me in this situation so I doubt they can help with any other situations. read more

One person at the counter with 7 customers in line. Paying customers need better service!!!!!!

Dollar MSY is a sure way to ruin your trip. Upon arrival at the airport and a lengthy shuttle ride, you'll wait for 90+ minutes in the line and the have to wait an another mystery line once you pay and show your ID. They'll try to tell you they only have a Corolla when you paid for Malibu. When you ask if there is a price adjustment they will say no. You might have tried multiple times to check in on your phone to "skip the line" but it doesn't work. When you finally get a car, all the restaurants will be closed and you won't get to enjoy the taste of New Orleans. Then, two days into your trip, the battery will die, leaving you in a remote shadeless area in 95 degree temps. When you call for assistance you'll learn that you will need to wait for a jump so that you can drive back to the counter and wait in the line once more. Literally pay any amount more to avoid Dollar. It doesn't matter if it's 10x. read more

I've never left a bad review for any business but this is horrible. Called ahead to make sure they'd be open ad midnight since we are traveling with a baby, after waiting a half hour for shuttle bus, going up 3 floors and through a parking garage, we finally found an employee that told us they oversold the cars by 42, and there's nothing they can do. Leaving us stranded, when we paid for our rental weeks ago. Very very upset. read more

Dollar You have one job-rent cars and today us a HUGE FAILURE. 2 hour wait at the airport.

Never, ever, ever again... Rental prices are awful everywhere right now, so I fell for the T-Mobile travel discount on rental vehicles and ended up renting through Dollar. It was an awful experience. As others have mentioned, the line is slow at check in. Only one customer was ahead of us, but they were in a heated argument. Red flag one. I was told to take the rental contract to the Hertz counter in the garage to get the car. This created a problem; the Hertz employee handed me the keys and that was that. No one checked for damage on the car, no one confirmed the fuel level. The vehicle showed 323 miles until empty, and not quite full. When I returned the vehicle, there was no one in the garage checking out customers, only a sign that instructed customers to leave the keys in the car. I left the car with 378 miles left on the tank... more than what was in the car when I picked it up. Hours later, I received an email receipt, with $30 in refueling charges! I contacted customer service sixteen days ago, and no one has responded to me. Other issues included a filthy car at pick up (smeared windshield, dirty seat, garage stuck between the seat on console...). The vehicle also did not quite live up to the luxury class it was supposed to be a part of. The Cadillac label doesn't always sell itself as luxury, particularly when the car is completely stripped down with no power truck release, leatherette seats and no temperature controlled seating. The bumper was damaged. We definitely did not get what we had paid for and the lack of response to our complaint will keep me from ever renting here again. read more

I've never in my life experienced the problematic issues I've encountered with this particular Dollar Rental. First issue: The rental that I applied for was not available when I arrived to pick it up. 2nd issue: the rental was actually a vehicle that belonged to Hertz which is why I couldn't find it in the Dollar Rental designated parking area. 3rd issue. Upon turning the rental in on time, the personnel did not close out the rental agreement until 4 days after. During that period, my credit card incurred pending charges and I have not received my deposit back yet. 4th issue; I received an automated message from Hertz stating that I've exceeded the amount of days I was allowed the rental even though I turned it on tine. 5th issue: I've received a receipt with the late charges that are currently pending on my credit card and the turn in date suggest that I turned the car in 4 days late. Do not rent from this location. This seems like a large scale scam to me and Im not through with this. I am looking into legal actions asap because there is no way this type of bad business should be allowed. I wish I could rate this place as a 0! read more

Not a single person working the counter on a Saturday, so we were directed to the Hertz line to wait, where there were initially two women working, and then eventually only one. We waited in line for about 70 minutes, and have been waiting for our car (after being processed) for another 60 minutes. It looks like we're going to be here for 2.5-3 hours all in. There's about 15 other people waiting for their vehicles, too. Seems like they're on severely short supply of vehicles and employees. I guess we shouldn't be surprised--this company filed for bankruptcy shortly after COVID started. My advice would be to rent from another rental place downtown--either uber or get a ride some other way. Don't bother with the terrible quality of service at any airport rental kiosk, which are a 15 min shuttle ride away from the terminal. Rent from a bankrupt company, expect bankrupt service. read more

Who even knows who owns all of these "different" companies. Hertz/Dollar/Thrifty do not know how to run a business at MSY. More often than not, there's a giant line for your car, better yet, today - there's an hour wait to get to the counter. Then once you get there, they tell you it will be a 2 hour wait for your car. This is not acceptable. No one cares. No one listens. Not everyone here is coming for vacation and to drink hurricanes; though they should get their cars as promised also. I wish there were something to do about it. There's not. Keep charging $400 for a few days car rental in a filthy car that smells like weed. I'm used to it. read more
