I am writing this to inform and warn folks of my experience with this Airline Nifty location. First things first, I DID recieve my $500 security deposit refund back that was charged to my credit card. I called this Airline location's number twice after the 14 day waiting period(excluding weekends and holidays) to receive an update on the security deposit refund. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, as I was told it would be 7-14 days for refund processing. The representative over the phone said she would reach out the office that handles the refunds to check. To my shock and surprise, I received a call and text message of the picture of the receipt for the $500 deposit refund. I thought it was going to be quite the ordeal trying to get the refund back after reading these past reviews of other's experiences. So if it comforts others who are reading this, they do process the refunds when you return the vehicle, but you have to be diligent after the 14 day waiting period. The reason for the 1/5 rating is the vehicle that I rented had a seafood odor throughout the trip and also had this constant squeeling like sound coming from the rear driver wheel when I accelerated. It didn't sound normal at all. Last reason for the 1/5 rating is the above explained security deposit charge fiasco. They don't put a hold on your card like Enterprise or Hertz, they CHARGE the entire rental fee and deposit. You then have to wait UP to 30 business days to recieve your deposit back upon returning the vehicle. I wish they would have been more up front about that policy. My recommendation is to spend a little extra and rent from a more established company such as Enterprise or Hertz to avoid the inconvenience and uncertainty I experienced. read more

Rental Car process was smooth, however receiving my deposit back has been a nightmare. I returned the car 3/2/26 and have not received my $400 deposit, it's 5/6/26. I call and they keep saying it's been processed and to contact my bank. Of course the bank says there are no pending refunds. STAY AWAY! Better business bureau doesn't even recognize them as a business so that should let future renters know to skip this place. First my one good thing is the day I rented and returned my rental the staff was polite and helpful. The nightmare is once you drop off your rental that same staff becomes hard to reach, rude, and lies every time you do get in contact with them. This place doesn't just put a hold on your card for the deposit they fully charge you. When you rent your contract states 7/14 business days to process your return, they have no plans on making that timeframe. I've been trying for over a month of business days and two months total trying to get my deposit back and every time I talk to the regional manager she gives me a different story and date when it'll be processed. The vehicle was returned on 02/23/2026, and it has now been well beyond the stated 14-day timeframe (and even past the 30-day maximum provided at the time of rental). I have made multiple calls--five in total--with no resolution and no clear communication regarding the status of the refund. At this point, I do not believe I will be receiving my deposit back. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! IT IS SKETCHY!!!! I booked a rental car bundled with my flight through Expedia. I often use this site and bundle my rental car and flight. This company was horrible from the moment I landed in New Orleans! I rode the bus to the car rental place and waited for I have no idea how long for the "gray van with the yellow letters." The driver was the nicest man, and it was a pleasant ride to the off-site location, talking with him during the drive. Once I got to the location, I saw a dilapidated white Toyota Corolla sitting near the building with the trunk open, and it appeared to be my rental car. I was hoping it was not, but in fact it was! I tried to remain positive because this was a last-minute trip and I only needed the car to get to Baton Rouge and back to the airport in two days. I was not going to be driving the car any further than straight to my boyfriend's house and back to the airport two days later. I had pre-paid everything online and was SHOCKED when they required a $400 deposit!!! I had paid $160.55 on 3/16/2026 and showed I only owed $12.05 at pick up!!!! I was NOT HAPPY that they insisted I pay $412.05 on 3/25/2026!!! I paid for the insurance through the rental car company; however, they required me to provide my personal car insurance proof and wrote down my policy and information. That seemed odd because I literally paid for the highest level of insurance their company provided!! I understand showing proof of insurance, but I have never had a company put my personal insurance information on my rental paperwork....EVER!! I rent cars regularly, and this is not something that has ever happened when using reputable rental car companies. Despite all this....I went ahead and paid the deposit and took the car, not trying to be a pain. The staff was very, very nice, and I was not trying to be unpleasant, and I was not going to use the car for anything other than just to get to my boyfriend's house and back to the airport, so I thought it would be fine. 1. The outside of the car was dented and beat up (that should have been a sign!) 2. This car SMELLED SOOOOO BAD!! I have no idea what the smell was, but it was nasty 3. The seats were stained and looked disgusting 4. The engine light was on, and the car did not sound like it was in good working order to be used as a rental car! 5. There was less than half a tank full of gas, on top of the engine light being on! 6. When I got on I-10 and tried to drive the speed limit, the car started shaking!! I do not know if it was an engine issue or a tire issue, but it was scary! I even called my boyfriend and told him I could not drive the speed limit because the car was shaking so bad, and I was worried I was going to break down!! I made it to Baton Rouge, parked the car at my boyfriend's house, and did not get back in it until 3/27/26 when I needed to drive back to the airport to fly back to Texas. The engine light was still on, and I could not drive the speed limit because the car shook so badly it felt unsafe! When I dropped off the car, a different employee received the car than was there the day I picked up the car, they gave me my receipt and told me that my deposit would be issued in 7-14 business days, but sometimes it takes 30 days or longer, depending on the bank, she gave me a paper stapled to the receipt that was about the refund and told me that if you dispute the charge with your bank it will charge a $50.00 fee for disputing it. I have waited until 4/27/26 to write this review, and to this date, I have yet to receive my $400.00 deposit back!!! I have talked to my bank, and they looked into it without a dispute, and this is not on their end, and the only way they can help me is if I file a dispute. I do not want to give this company another dime of my money, so I am waiting it out, but this is the worst experience I have ever had with a rental car company!! DO NOT USE THEM!!! I was really worried that, because they took my personal auto insurance information down and the horrible condition of the car, they might try to make some false insurance claims on my policy, but that has not happened, THANK GOD!! However, as sketchy as this place is, and after all the reviews I have read, it is still very concerning to me that they might do some shady things like that!!! RUUUNNNN from this company!!!!!! The employees were friendly. Beyond that there is not much I can say nice. The car had excessive mileage. It smelled "Beyond" horrible. It had stains in all of the upholstery. The airbag sensor on drivers side kept flashing. Dents, loose body parts and struggled a bit on the interstate. Drove ok in the city streets. The return of the $400 deposit is still an issue. We got into a nightmare rental situation with a Hotwire reservation with a different rental company. I called Steve from Nifty. He came and picked us up and took us to his office where he quickly and efficiently got us into one of his rentals, which was an upgrade from what we were getting from the other company at the same price. At the end of our 4 day rental he drove us to our airport hotel. Car rentals are always so stressful with pushy salespeople - not here. This is not a chain, it is a small independent company with amazing service. Do yourself a favor and skip Hotwire and chains. This is near the airport, but not where the chain companies are. For starters , they're listed under ACE at MSY, however, they're Nifty Car Rental and they are not directly at the airport like the other car rental companies. So I land at MSY get to the car rental Location and I don't see them inside. Asked around and was told to call some number and they will come pick me up and take me over . That was red flag number one. The owner Steve comes and get me (very fast ] in some dirty dusty old van that smell horrible and he's Wearing no mask despite all that's going on. We get there and this place is FILTHY. Old trailer looking home that looks as if it's going to crumble any second. Red flag number 2 is that all the contracts are handwritten out on paperback like is it not 2021 WTF ! They call your insurance because they do not offer insurance which is also a red flag and get your policy number . In all my renting years never had someone call for my policy number. If u read other reviews u will see people say they file claims on their old dusty cars . Here's the real information : first car I get is so was a white Kia Forte that smelled like so much weed mildew and had burn marks in the seats. I go inside to tell the girl and she's like "oh that's New Orleans people for u " like excuse me ? Clean your cars and get rid of them . Next car is a red Corolla with a broken bumper and it also smelled like smoke . I sat and called around and couldn't get a car soon so I had to take this one because I quickly needed to get to Mississippi in a press time. Why I turn the car on it have 136K+ miles .... These people are unreal . Plus the tire pressure light was on which she said was the sensor malfunction. How dare you rent these old cars to someone like that. I drove to Mississippi in silence cause I was so scared I would break down and plus the touch screen in the car don't work so you can't pair your phone . When I got to Mississippi I rented from someone on Turo and let that car sit the weekend. When I returned I made sure I let them know I was recording because u can't record without someone knowledge in the event you need to use it against them. I got the lady to talk around the car with me and verbally acknowledge that there were no new damages and everything was good. Deceitful and Pathetic, ACE Rent a Car, Kenner, LA Last minute change of plans required me to return the vehicle at 2:00 AM Saturday to catch a 5:00 AM departure flight. Friday evening, I started calling the two numbers listed for the office as soon as I knew of the change of flight time. My phone log shows I made 7 attempts from 5:45 PM until nearly midnight but just kept getting a recording saying "...leave a message.", then "This mail box is full..." This left me with only one option. I drove the car back to the exact location from which I picked it up and called an Uber to take us to the airport. The location is a small building about the size of a one-star garage and has parking for about 12 vehicles. I was surprised and a bit baffled to discover they had no Drop Box for after hour car key returns, so I hid the key behind a sign on the building. I called them once I landed in Charlette NC and explained the situation. The woman I spoke with was very rude and told me I would have to pay an additional $250 "Abandonment fee". ABANDONMENT FEE???!! Where would they rather I had left it? Their Rental agreement (Nifty, not Ace, btw) states: Item #4. "...Renter shall return Vehicle to Daily Rental Company..." That's exactly what I did. RS 32:473.1 Abandoned vehicle - Louisiana State Legislature defines abandoned vehicles as: ... decrepit cars or car wrecks or cars that have become useless in other ways, which are abandoned and illegally dumped in the environment. How can ACE possibly say I abandoned the vehicle when I returned it to the exact location from which I rented it, cleaner than when I got it and with a full tank of gas? One of the several documents they flashed before me and had me sign was a document called "Addendum to Rental Agreement". It covers accidents, traffic violations, cleaning fees, wheels tires and glass, fuel fee, drop off before / after hours, unauthorized driver, traveling rules, and other fees. Under drop off before / after hours, it does state, "... prior arrangements must be made at the time of rental if the vehicle used to be returned before or after hours." That was impossible under these circumstances. Initially I had intended to return the car during normal working hours but the need to change to an earlier flight forced me to return the car at 2:00 AM. OMG STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY !!! Rented a car from Nifty Carl Rental in Gulfport MS on 11/16/23. My 1st clue about Nifty/Ace being on the up and up was they were NOT in the airport as stated on their website. Had to call a number to be picked up which only took 15 minutes but that's not the point. Walked into the office and laughed out loud. What a dump. The car we got was decent and the transaction was quick. All went well. When we returned it we went back to their "office" and signed off on the car - including the $200 refund we would get. The guy said it will take 10 days to process the refund. Other rental companies processed it in 48 hours. Now the fun started. After a week, I called and they said it's because of the Thanksgiving holiday banking delay. Two weeks after we returned it there's still no refund. I tried calling 3 times and got hung up on. I called Nifty/Ace's main office and they could not help me. I called Priceline and they were concerned about this. They put me on hold for about 3 minutes and said Nifty would call me back regarding this issue. They never did. I asked Priceline to remove them from their recommended car places. She was going to start the process by forwarding my issues up the ladder. Also, I have a gut feeling that all the 5-star ratings are fake - it's either 1 star or 5 stars. How can this be! The one picture of all the cars on the site is fake too. It's now been 3 weeks. I went to their chat site and explained my issues. Obviously, they have it all planned. I was told the car was smoked in and not in acceptable condition thereby they are keeping the $200. Called my credit company and they are going to get my $200 but it will take time. read more

This is a long overdue review - My experience is from back in May of 2021. Long story short, while flying into MSY, my bank canceled my debit card (the only card I had on me) without warning due to a system error. Dollar wouldn't rent the car to me now that the card I put on the reservation was canceled (and would only take a physical card- could not take the credit card info I knew by heart but had accidentally left at home), so I was pretty much stranded with no card and no way to withdraw cash. The Dollar rep gave me the runaround, and I went to several other service desks but ultimately was out of luck and getting desperate. Finally, one of them offered the number of the Nifty car rental service that was just off-site! Called and told Steve from Nifty my situation - he picked me up from the airport immediately and drove to their rental lot. He and the desk rep there were extremely kind, could take my card info, and settled me up with an affordable rental so quickly! Also fortunate that one of their other sites was in Gulfport, so I could rent for one-way only. Drop-off was extremely easy, even though I arrived at the Gulfport site after business hours. I was a little concerned at first since the shop didn't look like the "average" rental car lot, but the two female customer service representatives inside calmed my worries as they handled us with ease, efficiency and care. They gave us a car that had literally just been returned. Like, we saw the people arrive just before us. So obviously it wasn't cleaned. It had burn holes in the upholstery, smelled like smoke, and the side mirror was attached with duct tape--no joke. When we returned the car, the office was locked with no sign or note. When we called the number, they said the person was picking someone up at the airport and would be back in 5 minutes--she returned in 20. There is literally only one person working, who rents the cars as well as shuttles you to the airport. It took over 30 minutes from the time we returned the car til we were taken to the airport. I recently, had to rent a car , and I was very lucky to have a friend that recommended Nifty car rental. The two ladies and a gentleman that I met at the Airline highway / Kenner-Airport location were extremely accommodating and helpful. The car I rented was a current model , and it was thoroughly cleaned and maintained in ,as new , condition. I felt that Nifty car rental also had the least complicated rental and return process , and the most affordable prices that I have experienced locally. Unexpectedly, I needed my rental car for a longer number of days than anticipated , and the ladies running the office were very helpful to me by making that extension affordable. I will definitely use Nifty rental car again , and would highly recommended them to anyone who needs these services. read more

They do not stay open during Buisness hours. If you want to be stranded 15 minutes from the airport despite having a reservation and arriving during hours of operation then rent with Ace/ Nifty. I will never go back to rent a car from this business ever. The car they gave me did not have any inspection sticker on, the registration tag has been expired since last year 2021. So obviously that the car did not have any registration on. The gas tank did not have a proper and secured cap. I came back and tell them, and the guy there told me that those were not my problems, they were their own matters, I didn't have to worry about it. He even asked me if it costed me anything. Of course it costed me $242.38 to rent a car that was totally not legit and was not supposed to be on the road. But they still put that car on their website and make money from it. They didn't even apologize and kept yelling at me that those inspection stickers things were not my business. I was totally disappointed about this place. If there was something wrong with the unsecured gas cap while I was driving, I would've not been here to write this review. Guys, do not risk your lives renting a car from this business. You literally pay for what you get! It's not worth the $10 a day I saved. I will never use this company again. It was a whole in the wall type place that was not clean. The vehicle reeked of cigarette smoke. There was disgusting stains on the seats, so much I didn't want to lay my person or anything else on the seats. The trunk was filthy. I did not enjoy driving this vehicle and felt embarrassed to be driving it much less give anyone a ride in it. I called the next day to complain. They did apologize and told me I could trade it out. TERRIBLE ... The gentleman that picked us up (Mr. Steve) was a nice guy and picked us up rather quickly. The receptionist doing the paperwork was rude and rushed you through as if trying to get you out of there. The vehicle's fender was screwed back on with sheet metal screws, but, it was a car. The car was old, but I figured for the price, it'll get me wherever I need to go... Once I got in it, it was dirty inside and REEKED OF SMOKE AND MARIJUANA ...!! After I'd driven away, the next day I realized that the license plate was expired for nearly a year and there was no inspection whatsoever, which is required in Louisiana... They placed a "$200 hold/deposit" on my credit card and I was told it "would be refunded." Here it is, 2 months later and I have yet to see the refund. This place is a rip-off and do yourself a favor... pay the few extra dollars and rent from a reputable place. My flight got cancelled and I ended up arriving to New Orleans airport after hours. The owner was kind enough to pick me up with his own vehicle and bring me to the lot. It took minutes to do the paperwork and I was on my way. When I returned the car he was able to help me in minutes and bring me to the airport. I will definitely use them again. read more

The services this horrid establishment provided proved to not only be unprofessional but distasteful at its best. One employee in particular, whom i regret to remember her name, was very rude and sarcastic. In in a couple of instances, we notified the employees at the "Nifty Car Rental" to let them know that we wanted to keep the car that day, however they responded in a mocking and sarcastic manner. Taking the hint that the employee of "Nifty Car Rental" did not want to deal with our courtesy calls, we asked to speak to a more understandable and professional employee. (Which you would think would help, but alas... NOPE.) Do not bother asking for quotes. The shady business that is "Nifty Car Rental" will charge you whatever they please. The consistency is not there between pricing, employees, and management. The icing on the cake of this abominable organization is when it was the day to return the vehicle, they did not give us a ride to the airport. Therefore we were subjected to WALK to our terminal. I made a mistake and booked my car on the wrong date. When me and my wife got to New Orleans Friday morning all of the cars were sold out around town. My sister located Nifty's which is near the airport. She got in touch and they stated that they have one car a two door Fiat. I was not too happy about the choice of car but my wife said we will take it. It was a small yellow two door car but it got us to Jackson State's Homecoming with no issues. The car was good on gas and we were able to fit into tight spaces for parking at JSU's Homecoming. I can't thank Niftys enough for allowing me to attend my Alma Mater's homecoming and my wife's first time attending JSU's Homecoming which she truly enjoyed. Thank you Niftys. read more
