I'm trying to give this place the benefit of the doubt because I did just get off a 3 hour flight so maybe my patience isn't as present as it usually is. Only one associate working which I'm surprised for an airport rental car place and budget being one of the more affordable and know rental car places. Being in the only line where all the other rental car places have none made me a little more anxious. The associate was gracious and doing the best he can, I can see that. I would give him 5 stars but my overall experience is what drops it down to a what I think is a generous 2. Correction: one attendant for horn Avis & budget together so it made it even longer. :( read more

Budget Rent A Car - Car Rental Near Me - Kenner, Louisiana

Budget Car Service -- Absolutely Unacceptable I have never experienced service this poor. I arranged Budget in advance, paid top dollar for a one-day rental, and even scheduled my pickup an hour earlier than necessary to make sure I had plenty of time. I returned the car the same day at 5 PM. Instead, I waited over an hour, along with roughly 50 other customers. Every other car agency at the location was getting customers their vehicles on time--Budget was the only one with a massive line and customers sitting there for over an hour. The employees at the counter showed absolutely no urgency or concern. I flew to New Orleans for a business meeting, only to arrive after the meeting had ended. The clients had already left, and I lost the account. This is exactly why we have Uber. I could have simply called an Uber, but I specifically arranged a rental in advance and paid a premium expecting basic professionalism and reliability. Budget completely failed. I will never use them again, and I strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere. I'm a single mother. I can't afford to be flying to my jobs and can't make it there on time so I lose that account now I'm out-of-pocket. It's a lot when you're a single mother. Why I spent all this money on my airfare there got the car rental and lost the job because they were an hour late, giving me the car. They thought I was unprofessional. read more

Yelp needs negative stars as an option for places like this. I frequently have to go to New Orleans for family and budget never has any cars even with a prepaid reservation. You will wait more than an hour. End of story. Do not book from here. This is the third time I've had to cancel the reservation while sitting in the budget office and having to go with one of their competitors Do not use this rental car company. read more

This is our first time in NOLA & it's been interesting so far. The shuttle from the airport was a 25 minute wait, but we used Budget Fast Track to skip the line at the rental counter. Our first car had a broken headlight, and the second car has been very loved (a few dings and knicks), but the people were not rude, and the process was fairly easy. I did use Apple Pay, and he wanted the card used to pay for the reservation, so that was a little snafu, but I was able to put the deposit on another card. Will update when we drop off! read more

Budget Rent A Car - Rental area on level 2 - Car Rental Near Me - Kenner, Louisiana

I am writing this review not just for myself, but to protect other seniors from the degrading and inhumane treatment I witnessed and personally experienced at the hands of two members of Budget Rental Car at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. I booked my rental car several weeks in advance. I arrived from Tampa, Florida at approximately 4:00 p.m. Central Standard Time and rushed to your Budget counter. What I found was not a rental counter, but a holding pen. There was no line. There were only tired, frustrated people sitting and standing against the wall. I stood for over 20 minutes while two female employees sat behind the counter, talking to each other, making no eye contact, and ignoring every customer in front of them. Finally, one of them looked up and said flatly: "We don't have any cars." No apology. No explanation. She then shoved a yellow legal tablet at me with two pages of signatures, front and back, and said, "Sign the waiting list. It will be about an hour and a half. As one comes in, we clean it and gas it up and give it to the next person. We will give you whatever we got. It may be a truck, a minivan, or whatever." That is when an elderly couple next to me spoke up. The husband said, "We have been here two and a half hours already." They were exhausted, humiliated, and the wife was sitting in her wheelchair. The Budget staff members showed absolutely no compassion, no urgency, and no respect. They didn't care. They sat there. I waited 90 minutes. They were still on the first page of names. I was on the back of the second page. At that point I knew the truth - there was no plan to get me a car. I was forced to leave without my confirmed rental and pay out of pocket for alternative transportation. *My goal in writing this is to help other seniors be aware and escape the degrading, inhumane treatment dished out by two of Budget Rental's Car staff at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport because they didn't care.* Seniors on fixed incomes cannot afford to be stranded at an airport after paying for a confirmed reservation. Seniors with disabilities cannot stand for hours while staff sit and chat. Seniors who have traveled across the country deserve to be treated with dignity, not as an inconvenience. A confirmed reservation is a promise. You broke that promise. But worse than that, your staff broke basic human decency. What you did to that elderly woman in a wheelchair was shameful. What you allowed to happen to a lobby full of paying customers - many of them seniors - was inhumane. Seniors deserve respect. Your two employees at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport on September 30th showed none. I expect better from Budget. And seniors in Louisiana should expect better too. There has got to be a change in Budget: A change in how you treat seniors. A change in how you treat the disabled. A change in how you honor a confirmed reservation. And a change in how you train staff to have basic compassion and respect when people are stranded, tired, and sitting on the floor because you failed them. read more

1.5 hours in line to get a car. And there were no events like a Super Bowl or Olympics going on at the time. Surly counter staff. When I finally got to the exit booth, paperwork was wrong and I had to return to the counter to get this fixed. Another 20 minutes. Worst car rental experience ever. DO NOT rent from Avis, Budget, or Payless at MSY. They just don't care. They just don't care. Choose anyone else. read more

I flew across the country, and arrived at the Budget counter to get my reserved car around 8:30 PM. I was served quickly, and told they had no cars for me, despite my having a reservation. I was exhausted from a stressful day of flying, and boy howdy I was ANGRY that they had no cars despite my having a reservation for an SUV. Here is the thing Budget...this is the second time I rented from you this quarter, and you had no cars either time. I thought the first time was a fluke, but I was wrong. Apparently this is how you do business (terribly and disrespectfully), so you will not have mine any longer. I will find someone else from which to rent. read more

My wife and I waited 30+ mins at the desk to check in for our vehicle, then 30+ mins in the parking garage waiting for someone to bring the car. There were no more than 30 people trying to get their vehicles, but there were hardly any employees here to help. It's clear when companies like Budget are pinching pennies, refusing to staff their teams to a capacity that leads to positive experiences for its customers. Budget, consider my business is gone. read more

The ladies working the desk on 9/15/2026 had the absolute worst customer service I've ever encountered. Terrible representation of our city, especially for those coming from the airport. Worst car rental experience ever! Waited over an hour in line for car. Car stunk. Car got a flat and budget refused to come out and fix it or bring me another car budget told me to fix it myself and to submit reimbursement request for the tire. Lost a day of vacation dealing with this flat tire and budget rental. It has been over a month and they still have not reimburse me for the tire. Even though they did not have anyone to come fix it or replace it on this Sunday I called. read more

Arrived at 1am and they had no cars available. The car I had reserved did was gone. There were at least 10 other people stranded at the airport at 1 a.m. in the morning. They told us to take an Uber to our hotel and then Uber back the next morning and they will deduct that off of the price. I asked them what time they open because I wanted to be first in line. By the time we got to our hotel, because it was far away, it was 4 AM so I didn't even sleep. I went back to budget at 5:30 AM. Only to be told they have no cars available and there was a new person who wasn't informed of the problem that happened a few hours earlier. I was livid and told them I was not going to leave until they found me a car. It was absolutely ridiculous. Terrible, terrible, terrible. read more

ABSOLUTEY THE WORST RENTAL CAR COMPANY in business!!! My rental almost a year ago was dirty, charging ports didn't work and was not filled with gas. On top of all that I had to wait almost an hour. After filing a formal complaint, I received a coupon for 2 days. I have been trying to use this coupon for almost 7 months and they keep telling me the vehicles I select are not valid or the rental location will not honor the coupon. How in the hell you don't hoor a coupon YOU provided?!? Unreal. I will NEVER rent from them if I can help it. read more

The way this business is run is absolutely insane. They well rent out unlimited amounts of cars, and not have any cars for those who have reservations paid-in-full. While other rental companies will mark their inventory as sold out, Budget car rental shows that they are greedy and careless for their consumers. Single-handedly ruined the holidays for my family - especially since I was traveling with my baby. Budget car rental also made no effort to contact their clients to relay the message. WOULD NOT RECCOMEND! read more

Fastbreak is the way to go in New Orleans. The woman upstairs was very helpful. She was working by herself and stopped what she was doing to get a car for us. Made reservations a week in advance and when we show up there was no car. Very poor service.

I'm sure the agent is nice but there is ONLY ONE persona and about 20 in line. This is STUPID. Don't rent from Budget unless you have the whole day to wait in line. read more

NEVER RENT HERE, you will not get a car, especially at night. My husband and I rented a car a month in advanced and asked for an SUV as were traveling with children, car seats and strollers. We arrived at 11pm and got handed a piece of paper saying they were out of cars for the night and to come back in the morning. We were told they would reimburse us for an Uber ride. We didn't have a hotel in town as we were driving to Mobile to stay with family. We had to pay for a hotel room for 6 hours. I had to walk with my 1.5 year old across the busy street to a hotel as no uber would take us with our car seats. When I asked for reimbursement for the hotel they said they would only reimburse our Uber. When we did get a car the next morning we were given a Nissan Altima when I paid for and rented a SUV and I was told that's what they had and what I get. Fast forward a year later, my husband is now traveling. He rented a car through Costco and didn't know it was through budget. He landed and went to the window and was met with the same problem. Told they have no cars and to return in the morning. He is sleeping in the rental car facility because he has no hotel and was driving to Mobile. All the other rental car places say they have no vehicle for him. This place is the worst place I have ever been. I have contacted corporate many times for a refund and never get through to anyone to actually help. Please never rent here. read more

Pretty seamless experience with Budget rent a car at MSY Airport. Wasn't very busy so we were in and out in a jiffy. The only downside ... and this applies to all rentals ... is that the rental section is a 20 minute shuttle ride from the terminal. They have more than enough shuttles, but 20 minutes brings new insights to the term offsite. But Budget was good. read more

Beware! if you don't want to wait in long line or 1.5 to 2 hours you are better off somewhere else. Only one person working, horrible!

I didn't ask for one but was given an electric vehicle. They wanted $25 more a day for a gas vehicle which was not in my budget. I spent hours researching all the different types of charging connectors and where to find charging stations. There are not many in Louisiana, many are broken or there are lines. I ended up having to go to a couple of private businesses asking for help. There customer service has been non-existent. I received a canned response to my first email and nothing since. I don't want others to go through what I had to go through. Electric vehicles should be opt-in only! read more

Sold us a car they don't have. Down graded instead of upgraded. Helper lady at counter was slow and preoccupied on her phone.

Made a reservation prior that was not "same day" but was told it was and could not honor it. There were people who had been waiting for over 3 hours and still no car. When checking in they were told it was an hour wait time. Absolute garbage of place and people who couldn't care less that they're working there. They are purposely over booking unavailable cars to people, this place is a scam!! read more

this is by far the worst rental car experience. they have a process where you have to wait for them to bring the car to you. the lines are crazy, they don't have enough staff. whoever came up with this process needs to be fired. it is not efficient at all! i will not rent from budget again. even if i have to pay more read more

After a long day of travel, we got to the car rental building and was told they had no cars left even though we rented and reserved a car online weeks before our trip. They proceeded to tell us we could wait for them to try to get cars from another lot. There were so many families waiting for their cars for over 3 hours. We are currently coming on the 3 hour mark in 10 minutes. When we tried to see if other rental companies could rent us a car they said they only have what is already reserved for their customers and proceeded to tell us budget often oversells their vehicles. Time has passed since I started this review and we finally got a car after 3.5 hours of waiting. They did not have the mini van we reserved so they gave us a sprinter van which was already in the lot. We know this because once they told us there was going to be a 2 hour wait we went for a walk and saw them there. So we were waiting for no reason. Needless to say Budget really put a damper into the start of our vacation. read more

One of the worst experiences of my entire life. They give you cars that have not been cleaned, smell like literal urine and have damage, and threaten to cancel your rental and strand you if you have a problem. None of the associates want to give their names because they KNOW their behavior is atrocious. Manager Alexis covers up for her employees' horrible service. I would avoid like the plague unless you want to spend HOURS of your vacation time dealing with their nonsense. read more

Airport car rental companies continue to score the lowest possible Stars. Budget at New Orleans International Airport is no different. They are an incompetent circle of misinformation. In the process of checking in my rental the agent told me, "your fast-break number is not on this rental. You should go upstairs and make sure they add it so that you can get credit for this 30-day rental." He then handed me the paperwork and sent me upstairs. I got to the rental desk and they told me, "you can't add the fast break number after the car has been checked in. You must contact customer service." So then I contacted customer service. After 10 minutes trying to explain how it's possible that the original rental did not have my fast-break number on it because the agent forgot to put it on the original rental, the customer service agent told me "it's impossible to have your fast-break number once the reservation has been cancelled." Apparently she equates returning the car and closing out the contract as canceling the reservation. She gave me the phone number for the fast break Department. That number rings to a fax machine. read more

Terrible experience. After waiting in line for over half an hour I was told my same day reservation would not be honored. Clear sign of poor business management. read more

Walked in to pick up a rental. Karmen and her coworker (she wasn't wearing a nametag but had glasses on and braids) were clearly annoyed by the customers they'd been helping before us. It didn't take long before they recounted the tale in front of us. No, not for us, but in the form of snide and unprofessional comments. The French-speaking couple booked through a third-party car rental site (I've always known those weren't recommended; at this Budget location, it's apparently an all-out crime). It was clear to the associates and to the French couple that there were fees added. The French couple kept asking "do you know what these are for." Karmen and her friend kept shortly saying "I don't know, you should know what you booked." Karmen said to her colleague, "I mean it's not my problem, you came to America, the language here is English." By no means were the French couple fluent, but they were competent enough to ask the questions they needed to. More importantly, the audacity with which she made this bold proclamation, as though it had never occurred to her at any point in her process of applying and being hired by a car rental company at an airport that she might encounter a foreign language. How unbelievably inappropriate to make such a comment, especially when you're unaware of who is around. As someone who is trilingual, I was incredibly offended. As an American, I was embarrassed. The other girl did get a higher-up on the phone. Unfortunately for the French couple, the girl retold that whoever was on the phone wasn't coming down because they also did not speak French. How sad that a good training opportunity was missed. I left frustrated to pick up the car, but the Budget God's clearly were not done with me yet. The car was dirty - see the attached images. Windshield fluid empty as well. Budget should do more to instill good customer service in their employees. And add a training on dealing with diversity / generally not being a terrible person. read more

Renting a car from Budget New Orleans airport. We arrived at the car rental facility and there was a long line at the Budget desk. Only 2 people working. STAY AWAY!!! If I could give less stars I would! I had an agreement of $211. On my pick up day I asked for a receipt I was told I would get an email shortly after, the employee seemed very nice I didn't think anything of it. An hour later I get an email and I was charged $437.32!!! I called budget telling them I never authorized that amount. Never authorized loss damage waiver, optional services! This is a horrible place to rent a vehicle. I prepaid for my rental with the expectations to just be able to pick it up and go. Definitely not the case, had to wait in a long line to finically get my rental. Then the first vehicle had bald front tires, filthy, and the rear seat did not lock in position. They then switched us to another vehicle which was again filthy. Upon leaving the lot we found the vehicle did not have working A/C. I immediately turned around and brought it back only to have the return person giving me a hard time on whether I fueled the vehicle up or not. We talked to management and they did not offer any type of upgrade or money back for the hassle. They only gave us an option of two of the same vehicles. Again both were filthy. We ended up taking on of those. The third vehicle, although dirty, did work well for us. The final return was a breeze and Lisa, our shuttle driver back to the airport, was great. I would not recommend anyone use this Budget facility nor will I be using it again. read more

I am giving 5 stars to the amazing person who helped us last night with our car rental. I am very grateful to DAWN J., for assisting us. We arrived at Budget Fastrack NOLA just before midnight and we were having problems with our reservation. As tourists, our prepaid reservation was not accepted, as it was registered in another currency. The first person we spoke with was not very helpful, and just told us to call customer service. We did, but we were just put on hold for like half an hour and nobody was picking up. We didn't know what to do and luckily the first lady went on break and we were able to seek assistance from DAWN J. She was an angel and a life saver! She patiently explained to us all details and made sure that we got a car that night. Thank you DAWN J. for your above and beyond service. We appreciate you! read more

Unbelievably slow customer service, first at the desk, where the woman taking care of us couldn't remember her PIN to log back on to the computer, to actually waiting in line to pick up the car. Instead of giving you the keys to the car and having you get it yourself, they drive the car over to you, which is probably why it takes so long. A frustratingly long process at a facility that's in the old airport, right next to the new airport, but still takes a 20 minute shuttle ride to get to. read more

Not one single employee moved with any sense of urgency. From the woman at the reservation counter to the "runners" bringing up the vehicles. It took me less time to fly from DC to New Orleans, grab my bags from baggage claim than it did for me to get a rental from Budget. The entire process took over an hour on a Tuesday afternoon 2pm! The last thing I want to do when arriving to the airport to pick up a pre-reserved rental..to plan for my MIL funeral might I add...is wait around for a rental that I made pre-arrangements for. There has to be a better system to expedite the process and make it a more seamless process for customers. I will never been renting from Budget ever again! read more
