Listen, if Dad is not happy? NOBODY is happy! And I was a happy pappy with the room. The bedding was extremely comfortable as they used the finest bedding materials. If you're in the main building, unfortunately you may hear a lot of street noise. I was in the second building. I have a few things to note. First, you have to use your room card to open the door each time you go from the main building to the second one. Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate the security but sometimes I would forget to have my key out so I would start digging in my purse. Second, would have loved a vending machine in the second building. Third, there isn't a restaurant which is not a big deal for most because you're in the heart of New Orleans. Overall, loved my stay! I also lost my room card at one point and realized while we were out and about. I called Chris at the front desk and he immediately reassured me and cancelled my room keys in case they were found and gave me new ones upon returning!! The pool was also super lovely, private, and the perfect temperature. My room was cozy and the housekeeping team did a great job at tidying up & restocking my towels every day! Great proximity to many attractions while not being on top of things. Would stay here again on my next visit! :)

The building itself is situated in an area that's relatively close to everything and would be a short drive- Uber ride away. Upon arrival we were greeted by the friendly front desk staff. We were then passed over to another pair that wanted to help us with our trips itinerary. They were overly friendly and wanted to be really helpful. We had things to do so we went up to our room and that's when the phone calls started. They were very aggressive and I did not put two and two together until I remembered this was a Wyndham hotel *cue ominous music*. It's a Wyndham. You're gonna get offered all kinds of free stuff and discounts but you have to attend a "presentation" in order to get them. In Wyndham speak that means timeshare presentation. If you don't know, they basically kidnap you and force you to buy a timeshare for 20 plus thousand dollars (I'm exaggerating but the sales pitch is extremely high pressure and if you say no, they will turn on you and act like you're stealing food out of their kid's mouths.) If you possess the power of the word "NO" and hold your ground then you'll be just fine. However, if you are not and you are swayed or can be swayed avoid them like the plague. They come off as friendly, charming, and helpful, but the second you say "no"?, like I said earlier, they are going to turn on you. You have been warned.

FYI this is a bit of an outdated review as I had visited in early 2024 and am catching up on my reviews! I was staying at a lowkey creepy and haunted hotel in the French quarter for work and moved to the Jung Hotel for my person extension in NOLA and I could not have been happier. The building is absolutely beautiful with marble finishing everywhere. The room was large with a comfy bed, plenty of storage and counter space, a desk, and big bathroom with huge gorgeous light up mirrors. The view was awful but that's okay as I wasn't in the room too much during the day anyway. The clientele was interesting. I had booked with the actual hotel but it seemed like there were also residences as well as bookings through Airbnb type rental platforms. I had no issues and the hotel staff was not overly friendly but nice. The hotel did not have much in the actual building in terms of food and drink and the bar had limited hours but it was connected to a coffee shop which was nice for the mornings! Easy location for uber/lyft pick up drop off. They do have a pool but it was closed for the season. I had a great stay!

The Inn is curated so perfectly, from the collection of old pianos in almost every room, to the comfy overstuffed grandma couches, the inviting common dining area just outside the working gourmet kitchen (yes you can use it all!), to the assortment of old NOLA albums that you can play on the record player. The archival photos hang like family photos on the walls and dozens of books about all aspects of NOLA are for perusing like a home library. The Inn is tucked in a super cute residential neighborhood, too, which totally adds to the charm. (Oh yeah: street parking is very easy.) Each room is decorated with antique mahogany and/or oak period furniture that bring the Inn's original era to life. Juxtaposed with the white bed duvets (orange linens!!), thick white terry towels and EO bath products, it definitely has a modern vibe altogether. The rooms use their original skeleton key, and have the names painted on the inset glass like original signage on the doors. The whole place just has the best karma. No feeling of hauntings here: all positive vibes. And that's probably due in large part to Todd, who owns the place. You've met a Todd before: a positive, successful, 100% likable guy who treats the whole world like a friend. His positive vibe exudes throughout every aspect of the Inn, and makes it feel more like you're staying with family -- family who wants you there. If you're lucky, you'll meet Chloe. And if you're even luckier, you'll meet Joey.

But hold on; instead of our usual dreary jail cell, we found ourselves in the lap of luxury disguised as a historic hotel! The ambiance whispered tales of a bygone era, as if the walls still reveled at the stories of mischievous characters who once graced this place. "Check-in, not lock-up," I mused, and we were handed keys to a room that felt more like a hideaway for notorious lovers than a cell for delinquents. This historic hideout is like a time machine that seamlessly transports you from the hustle of modern life to the charm of the early 1900s. The Inn wears its history like a badge of honor (pun most definitely intended), having served as an NOPD police jail & patrol station. The restoration is a work of art; each nook and cranny tells a story. The result? A place where handcuffs have given way to comfy duvets, and where you're more likely to find a cozy nook than a solitary confinement. In a world where wonderfully executed (see what i did again) boutique hotels are a dime a dozen, the Inn at the Old Jail stands out like Bonnie and Clyde on a bank heist. Nine rooms, beautifully appointed common spaces, and an ambiance that makes you feel like you've stumbled upon a secret hideout for time-traveling outlaws. So, if you're looking to escape the mundane and channel your inner outlaw, check into the Inn at the Old Jail. After all, even notorious criminals need a little R&R, and where better than a place that used to be their overnight lockup turned boutique haven? Bravo, Inn at the Old Jail, for turning history into excellence and making our stay an arrestingly good time! -Patrick F./ Clyde Champion Barrow
