In early May 2025 I booked my stay for the early days of Mardi Gras 2026. The pre-paid rates were…read morecheaper but had restrictions I did not want to accept so I readily booked the standard full rate. All was good until mid-January when I noticed a charge for a bit more than the full rate (with NO advance notice), so I called Marriott Corp to investigate and request a refund without cancellation. They opened a case for me. I did receive a reply from Taylor Cox (FD Supervisor) advising that the terms I'd agreed to had been changed rather last-minute. Pre-paid rates have a different cancellation policy so I immediately responded to Mr Cox asking for clarification but never received any reply whatsoever. The BonVoy app allows loyalty customer the opportunity to request an earlier check-in (which aren't guaranteed) but I did make that request. I sat in the lobby for the duration in case I received the message (either text or app) of my room being ready. Nothing was received so after the 4:00 time had passed I approached the front desk to inquire if my room was now available. I mentioned that I'd been disappointed in the earlier process and communication, and it turned out it was actually Mr Cox assisting me. There was a scripted "Sorry for the inconvenience" as well as "We just now sent out that batch of texts about the rooms". I inquired if a noon check-out, rather than 11:00, would be possible and was given an immediate 'No' to that extra hour. I was issued a key and told to take the elevator to the eighth floor, so I went into the nearby elevator and found that it didn't include a Floor 8, so I returned to the desk. "Oh, sorry, that's a different elevator down the hall". I noticed that two of front desk team members were putting wrist bands on arriving guests. I wasn't offered a band earlier, so I had to assume it was for something extra that I wasn't included. My room category was Larger Guest Room City View. I fully understand that online photos on the Marriott website do not perfectly match reality, but the assigned room was nothing similar whatsoever. One window about two feet wide staring at a hotel wall. I wasn't going to be in the room much, so I just accepted it. It was immediately realized that the doors did little to buffer hallway noises. I'd have to accept that too. While transiting to the parade route, I sent a brief e-mail to Mr Cox to advise what I'd seen and requested a reply if I'd need a wrist band for my return later that evening, and to please advise security of the oversight. Yet again, zero response. Upon return it was realized that a band was indeed required to access this hotel. If you lose one there is an additional charge, but I'd not even been issued one to lose. A wrist band was issued to me. Noise on the floor was significant (especially from the neighboring room) but I was tired and did get some good sleep, albeit interrupted. I checked out around 9:30, since I had breakfast reservations and wouldn't be able to return before the required check-out time. There was no inquiry about the stay or a Thanks from the front desk. Hospitality businesses choose their level of service, and I choose my level of honest online reviews. That's how it works. I did not enjoy my stay at this AC. I would not consider returning to this AC. I cannot recommend this AC to others. There seems to be a pattern of online opinions, so I know I'm not alone on this one. Oh, and Trevor . . . I never received that message about the room being ready and never received any reply for ANY e-mail sent to you. Marriott guests deserve better in my opinion.

My room did not have an outside facing window. I spoke to the reception and they said the building used to be a bank and that more than half of the rooms do not have outside facing rooms. My room had a "window" facing the hallway, meaning light streams in all the time if you do not close the curtain all the way. When you wake up you have no idea if it's in the middle of the night or if it's morning. Also the bathroom did have hand soap. It was very strange. New travel fear unlocked, hotel room might not have a window, lol.

We had our shoes and different articles of clothing and stuff moved around during the night and when we were on the 2nd floor and went down to the Courtyard. I felt the presence of a "lady" when I was getting ready in the bathroom. Nothing scary and actually a little welcoming. We stayed in unit 2 which was an outer courtyard apartment. The living room and bedroom was spacious and the high ceilings made it feel even bigger. Our bedroom had a king sized canopy bed (very comfortable) and each room had a built in fireplace. The location was perfect. One block from the FQ and one block from the lively Frenchman Street. You're steps away from food, music, and drinks. Parking is at a premium in the French Quarter but Jean Lafitte House has a small grass lot about 1 block away available for guests and reasonably priced. Make a reservation ahead of time because they can't promise you a spot and it's booked first come first serve. I've been to New Orleans quite a bit but this by far was my favorite place to stay. The location, the history, and our beautiful accommodations made it a must stay for next time.
