He was so friendly & welcoming. Arriving hours before check-in time, he explained he would store our bags then went on to escort & introduce us to Kentrall at the front desk. Kentrall went on to give us a guide to the city & recommendations on what we could do while waiting. They both were like old friends we hadn't seen in a while. So very helpful to hear from locals. We met Selena, another front desk person later. Her recommendations for dining where the locals go was greatly appreciated. Christina, the Food & Beverage felt bad that we missed breakfast onsite one day. It really was on us that we didn't mind the serving time. We were pleasantlt surprised when she offered us three complimentary breakfasts on our last day. Since this was a boutique hotel,it was so nice seeing them each day & chatting a our experiences exploring the city. Being on first name basis with each of them was extremely special. Once strangers, now old friends. This hotel is centrally located so we were able to walk everywhere or access the streetcars easily. Our room was very spacious which was a pleasant surprise since it is a historic hotel. Its French design was very quaint & beautiful. We came in a few days early and found this hotel to be very convenient. This is a nice hotel with a wonderful team of people. We had a bit of an issue with an outside agency and our reservation but after a short time the staff was able to fix it to our expectations. It was a good size room with a wonderful view of the Ohio River. Plenty of drawer and closet space and the desk area made it easy to do some computer work. TV had plenty of choices (It was good to be back in an American Hotel with American TV.) Nice spacious bathroom with a tub shower. I prefer the walk-ins for both myself and my wife, but it was easy to work through this. Plenty of dining options here but we choice to go out in the morning for breakfast and find some fun plaqces for dinner (There are seperate reviews and pictures for that.) I liked their bar and the happy hour specials. Great baked oysters which paired beautifully with beer. All in all a great spot and I happlily reccomend this spot. I was so disappointed they didn't have availability the entire stay, but I was excited nonetheless. This was my first year staying in The Quarter, which made it miles above my other trips. I've gone every year since 2018, only skipping MG due to Covid in 2021. Even before I arrived, which is always a long drive in from KY, the hotel staff were communicating with me and said they would meet me at the hotel. There is a security gate going back into the property that is kept locked, so it's very secure. A young couple who work there met me and helped me in with all my stuff. So nice of them...I always overpack. They gave me my key to my room and one for the gate and took the rest of the payment for the room. They were two of the nicest people I ever met and we even remained friends after I came back to Ontario. They were both into the spooky stuff like I am. I was so impressed by the room. The bed was huge and all the horror and goth inspired touches made me feel right at home. I'm pretty picky about my bed with the RA but this was the most comfortable bed of my entire trip (and 4 other hotels). There were so many pillows and they were amazing. I wanted to steal them, lol, but I would never! The bath towels and comforter were black. There was a little ghost on the shelf in the mini kitchen. The shower curtain was bloody and the bathmat was blood red...and it was grippy. I'm always worried about falling in showers, but the mat was great. Spotlessly clean. The cleanest hotel I've every stayed at. There is a mini Keurig, microwave and refrigerator. They even had non dairy creamers, sweetener, water and little soda cans in the fridge. The first night was very chilly and they had a space heater running for me with the room warmed up. There were spooky signs up (pictures below). The wifi would drop, but I didn't realize you had to go out in the courtyard to connect. But I was at Mardi Gras. Who wants to be tied to the phone/computer? The courtyard is spectacular. There is a big tent with seats at one end and extra chairs/tables with a fire pit at the other near the office. They even invited me back to sit around the fire pit with them after I had to move to the other hotel. The office is decorated with cute spooky items too, and right beside it is a blood fountain. I did a walking tour with a girl I'd had as a guide before and we walked through on the tour and she was so excited to see the hotel from the inside. There is a staircase in the main building with a picture of a little boy at the bottom who tragically fell down the stairs and passed away. When I was telling here the story, we both felt cold air rush in and got goosebumps! While we were walking through, I saw there is a kitchen and coffee area in the bottom of the main building. The area is very safe. I walked there or back many nights and didn't encounter any trouble. There are so many restaurants in walking distance and even a grocery store, Rouses. I'd rented a parking garage spot that was almost a mile away but you can park on the street on Ursuline overnight, but must move your car every 2 hours from I believe it was 9am - 5pm, so it was convenient parking there the night before checkout. The manager is so nice too. Both she and the couple brought towels and always asked if I needed anything. I got to talk to them every day and the hospitality was at a level I've never experienced at another hotel. The manager, Christina, even let me use her umbrella one day when it was raining as I was heading out. I felt so welcomed and so safe there. I really missed it when I went to a chain hotel in the Quarter the last part of my stay. The only negative is that it is a little difficult getting in with stuff. The entranceway is uneven brick and a tad narrow, but that's just a small thing. The staff helped me get my things both in and out. I am glad I wasn't in an upstairs room. Mine was the last on the bottom in the back. I did experience one unexplainable thing. I had a cluster of plastic shopping bags on the floor against the wall and was sitting on the bed using my phone to find a restaurant. The bags rattled, and I thought it must be something settling in one of them. I said, "Is someone here?" and then all six or seven of them rattled and the plastic handles were moving like someone was rifling through them. That was cool and also unsettling. The rooms are clean and comfy, the decor is a spooky girl's dream, lots of little comforts, best staff ever and the courtyard is incredible. I still miss it more than a month later. I do have a room booked (could only get part of my stay again...it books up fast!) for next Mardi Gras...and hope to go if the current administration isn't still snatching anyone they wish off the street. But if you're going to Mardi Gras, stay here! Just don't take the room I want!! LOL

I loved the way the room was furnished and it had an axe man in the closet. The courtyard was great, decorated with skeletons and stuff. They say there are 3 caskets on the property and by law they cannot be moved. We did a paranormal investigation of the property and the most active rooms were B6 and the one under it, to me. However, room 114 is supposed to be the most haunted room on the property with stories of the bed moving that I have personally been told by someone who stayed in there. There is no parking on site. My recommendation to the find one of the parking garages and uber over. You can walk to everything on the city from the location so parking for your visit makes things a lot easier. I did have issues with our AC unit not working the 2 nights we were there, they even had the AC tech come and fix it the morning after the first night, but after a few hours it stopped working again. Pretty tough in the summer. At least there was a fan and they gave us an extra fan. I liked the place and any Halloween lover will too! I did not have anything weird happen in my room.

The first time I walked by and saw the chandler I had to go in and see this lobby. I thought to myself that this was a place that if you had to ask what it cost to stay here you couldn't afford it. But I was wrong and it is very affordable! In those days it was filled with stunning antiques, the bar was drop dead gorgeous, and the rooftop pool was so much fun. Then it closed, was purchased by Marriott, and made to look like any other middle of the road hotel. Gone are the antiques, the bar that came from Paris and the rooftop pool. The bar is all red velvet walls, the pool leaks so they walled it off along with the fitness center. Rooms are blah. Lobby is boring. They did keep some paintings which they hung upside down because that's what they did to the hotel. I wasted 5 nights of upgrades. The only thing upgraded in our room was a air purifier in the corner! What a disappointment that was. As was the entire experience of staying here. It's not a Grand Dame anymore. I won't be back.

There were 3+ cockroaches hanging out near the tub and a few scurried away before we could kill/photograph them. The next morning we went to the front desk, got our refund and switched hotels. Front desk staff was AWESOME, so kind and quick to help us. However, after we asked to cancel our stay and went back up to the room to get our bags and leave, one of the hotel housekeepers decided to come up to our room and "confront us". She wanted us to show her the cockroaches (that we had killed and flushed) and tried telling us she's never seen a cockroach at Hotel Le Marais before, basically calling us liars. Lol, well, here's some pictures to prove it. Let's ask the audience. Positives: The front desk staff was exceptional. Very helpful, very kind and knowledgeable. It's located close to Bourbon and has a nice courtyard. Negatives: ROACHES IN THE ROOMS, confrontational housekeeper, thin walls.

There was very little room to move around comfortably, and it was easily the weakest part of the room. Aside from the tiny bathroom, though, I had a great experience. The room was comfortable and spacious, the location was convenient, and I would definitely consider staying here again. A very solid four stars.
