We had an item stolen from our room- very obviously gone sometime between leaving our room late morning and returning in the evening. Not only was it shocking to have something stolen, the young woman at the front desk was hostile, rude, and downright agressive when we asked to speak to the general manager. Intercontinental New Orleans is beautiful! But the customer service is what stands out!! George, the concierge, was amazing. He suggested a bus tour-not the on and off bus. What a tour!!! Saw so much and the tour guide, Derek, was so knowledgeable. George also suggested a restaurant in which we got a percentage off our bill. The food was so good at the restaurant, we went back for breakfast. Mark, the manager, was extremely gracious. We needed a wheelchair and he came through for us. Anything we needed, they came through!! Definitely a 5 star hotel and 10 stars for George and Mark!! I have not experienced this kind of service at any hotel I have stayed at. read more

Beautiful property. Great location. But the front desk help drags the entire experience down so badly, management should clean house and start over. Our room wasn't ready at 3pm check-in. "Please wait over in the lobby or our nearby bar and we'll call you shortly." Two hours later, when we walked back up to the front desk asking for an update, a different person immediately offered us a room. Not what we reserved & paid extra for, but a king bed is a king bed. No apology. No explanation. No refund of the difference. Instead, we were made to feel as though we should feel lucky to be given a room at all. We stayed 5 nights. The bed was great. The shower was heavenly. The sheets and towels were top notch. The parking valet & the bellman were both highlights of our stay. Management needs to flush the front desk folks and start over. This hotel's entire front desk crew were collectively one of the worst hotel teams we've encountered over 45 years of travel all over the US and around the world. I've been a frequent patron of the Intercontinental in NOLA over the years, and I've watched the hotel go from one of the best in the city to outdated during those intervening years. The staff is still, on the whole, remarkably friendly and easy to work with, but that is honestly where the excellence in this hotel ends. Clearly they put some money into updating the public spaces, but the rooms themselves appear to have not received facelifts in a long time. This is most obvious by the striking lack of electrical outlets. There are so few outlets in the rooms that the HOTEL had to purchase power strips just to get the TV etc working, and that leaves you with basically one or two other outlets in the entire room for your phone, your laptop, and everything else you might need. There are a variety of other issues (poor water pressure with wildly inconsistent temperatures, poor lighting, etc) that really lower the overall quality of the room for me. Don't get me wrong, the rooms are not terrible, but at this price point, there are many better choices now in the CBD. I have been an Intercontinental Ambassador for several years, but, as much as it pains me to say it, I'll be staying somewhere else the next time I go to NOLA. read more

After a lousy stay at the Beau Rivage (a MGM property) in Biloxi, I had an even worse experience at the Intercontinental in New Orleans (a IHG property). The stay started out well. The suite I was in had two full baths, a large bedroom, and a living area. In addition, I was contacted by staff to see if there was anything I needed. However, at departure, I found out I would not receive a complimentary weekend night as planned. I signed up for the IHG Ambassador program that includes one free comp weekend night a year. I called the Ambassador number b4 signing up, bc I had questions about the program. The person I spoke to said, after I sign up for the program; all I have to do is book a weekend stay. The hotel would provide me a credit on site. The credit was not on my bill, so I spoke to Mark. Mark spoke to a higher up named Matt who said I will not receive a comp night this trip. They said I had to do something special at booking to obtain the comp weekend night. His response is totally contrary to what the person told me from the Ambassador program. Its not my job to navigate what Corporate sez vs what local hotels believe is the correct way to do things. I will dispute the one night stay with my credit card company, and contact Corporate IHG to obtain a credit, or a full refund of my Ambassador fee. The local management's actions are not the way to instill loyalty in the IHG program. read more

We recently had a 4-night stay at InterContinental New Orleans and left feeling a lot to be desired. The property does not live up to the InterContinental brand name, and quite honestly we've had nicer stays at Holiday Inn Express. Immediately upon check-in, we noticed our room reeked of cigarette smoke. Odd for a smoke-free hotel, but guests don't always follow the rules. However, for housekeeping to turn over the room after the previous guests and call it "good" was baffling to us. We requested a new room via text exchange, and were told it was not possible due to occupancy. The hotel was navigating a wedding, cheerleading competition, and cruise ship guests... but, after spending one night in the room and waking up with a headache from the smell, we were ready to find a new hotel. We plead our case at the front desk later in the day, and somehow they found a new room for us on Day 2. Our stay came with buffet breakfast everyday due to my partner's IHG Diamond Elite status, and the Pete's staff was exceptional. There was a nice spread, but the highlight was the chef on duty to hand-craft omelettes or scrambles just the way you like it. He was such a gem, and so fun to talk with each morning. We also did happy hour in Pete's one evening, and the charcuterie platter for ~$20 was impressive and delicious! It's also the only picture I managed to snag :) It really seems like InterContinental New Orleans has seen its heyday, and it's behind us. The ornate lobby decor does not align with the tired guest rooms, and there's no club lounge, for those who may be expecting one. I think the most disappointing aspect of our stay was the lip-service apology about our first room reeking of cigarette smoke. After a long day of travel, we didn't have the energy to put up a fight or find new accommodations... but we shouldn't have had to in the first place. read more

If InterContinental is the Flagship of IHG, then they need to find a better boat. I chose this property because I wanted to stay somewhere nice. We had previously stayed at the Kimpton a few blocks away, and decided to try the Flagship brand, which turned out to be a big dinghy. . The service was lacking. There were a few different doormen near the entrance and throughout the entire trip, I don't think anyone ever greeted or acknowledged us walking it. Most of the time, they were talking to each other. Not a big deal, but why even have them there. While they had great, firm pillows, the bed itself was also way too firm to the point of waking up sore... and not from an extra fun night! ;) The quality of sleep was one of the worst I've had at a hotel. I did notify the front desk after they asked me to rate my stay and they offered to put a "topper" or something on, but I knew that would do very little. I give them credit for the offer though. The shower/tub was outdated and not what I'd expect from a flagship property. I get that this was probably a nice hotel "in the day", but compared to other InterContinentals and Kimpton's, this just didn't wow me. The soap and toiletries were nice though. Smelly in a good way! Everything was frustrating... the TV controller sucked and you had to press the buttons super hard to get it to do anything. There was no mini-fridge, just an honor bar with no prices listed for anything. The towels were small and not plush at all (I've had better at a Holiday Inn Express). Finally, with a late checkout, coming back from brunch and walking the extended walk to the room, the key didn't work! UGH! F' your system that "automatically" disables the key after 11a. My checkout was 2p! The location was convenient to the French Quarter, and it was far enough away to be somewhat quiet. But I'd probably give the Hotel Indigo a try (about a block away) or go back to the Kimpton next time. I don't plan on returning here. read more

Even though my room was outdated for the most part I enjoyed my stay. I'm subtracting a star for the simple reason that there isn't an empty fridge in the room. There is a fridge stocked with drinks for purchase. I needed a fridge to store my own drinks and food. The location of the hotel is only minutes from the French Quarter. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The daily complimentary breakfast was amazing!! You what I'm going to give this stay 5 stars. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The location was fantastic! Upon arrival the front desk person bit sure his name, he was fantastic and got me some excited for my stay. He also gave me a few waters and free drink coupons. The lobby is nice and the concierge is nice to have. Upon arrival to my room I was very happy with how everything looked. Room was very clean, had several pillows, a good view, and nice amenities. Hotel staff was very attentive whenever we need anything and I really enjoyed the rooftop pool. Overall the stay was very comfortable and really had no complaints. The drinks at the hotel bar was a really nice perk and they were really delicious. There was a mini bar- but, I did not need to use it. The only odd thing was that the hotel put on a fall festival, however, everything cost to participate. We were on our way out so we didn't really check it out much. read more

After realizing that my conference was here I was sad to see all of the negative reviews, but pleased to report that I had a great experience! It started off with my arriving several hours early, and being able to check in right away! That hardly ever happens. (It was still morning time!) Mariah at the front desk was delightful, then once I got to my room, I got a text from Maya, welcoming me back! I hadn't stayed here in years, so this was a nice touch. She offered assistance with anything I needed and her, Brianna and Maycee responded the few times that I contacted them. I liked the decor of the lobby and my room was perfect. Loved the Keurig and my king size bed was very comfortable. The only thing I didn't like was the stocked fridge that can't be used for your leftovers or carry out. I will never buy the overpriced beverages, so it's a waste. I didn't see the sticker saying that if you move anything out of the fridge you're charged for it, and I did because I had a to go box that needed to be refrigerated. I texted the ladies and they confirmed that they would notate my account to ensure that I wasn't charged. We had a networking event at Pete's Pub before dinner the first night at Trenasse. Loved that both were right in the hotel! I also loved that the ballroom and meeting rooms were off the same bank of elevators, very close, so it was convenient to go to my room if needed. There was also a lot of seating in the lobby. Super convenient and comfy. The only negatives from the whole week were the bar closing at 11 when we had a large party returning from dinner and wanting to hang out (we moved to the lobby with paper cups!) and the a/c blasting in the meeting rooms...I was constantly freezing! Disappointing Stay - Not a True InterContinental Experience. I've stayed at InterContinental hotels across the U.S. and internationally, and unfortunately, this location did not live up to the brand's reputation. From start to finish, the experience was disappointing. This location also does not have a club lounge for those with access. Our first room had a strong odor, and the balcony door was completely broken. After being moved, we found the furniture in the new room falling apart. Despite having high IHG status, we were denied an upgrade, even though it was included in my benefits. After some back-and-forth, we decided to stop pushing and focus on enjoying our trip. Housekeeping was another struggle. I requested a few basic items--an extra robe, slippers, and a shower cap. After multiple requests via phone and chat, only one item arrived at a time, and in the end, we still didn't receive everything. At checkout, I requested an itemized receipt and was given a blank page showing just the total charge. The front desk staff, who seemed to be having a bad day, insisted that was all they could provide. Only after following up via text was I finally sent the proper receipt. I was also incorrectly charged for a bottle of wine I didn't consume but was able to get it removed by providing a picture of it still in the room. The one bright spot of our stay was Bellman, Oswald, who was always friendly and welcoming--his kindness was a highlight each day. The lobby is nice and the restaurant in the front part of the lobby, which is a third-party is pretty good. The restaurant owned by the hotel and where breakfast is served was disappointing. As a loyal InterContinental guest, I won't let this experience deter me from the brand overall, but I will be much more cautious in the future and do my research rather than assuming a location meets the usual high standards. read more

Yes, it does not feel very modern 1)Because it's, well, old, and 2) that's its style--old European charm. If you're not into vintage aesthetics, I can see why it might not appeal to everyone, but docking stars because you don't like the concept feels unfair. Personally, I adore all things vintage, so this hotel was right up my alley from the start. Despite its age, the property is very well-maintained. There was nothing dingy, peeling, or neglected--everything felt clean and thoughtfully cared for. There are some updated spaces, like the beautiful sitting room on the third floor. It's decorated with white chairs and purple pillows, and in December, the Christmas decorations make it look like something straight out of a storybook. The customer service was also fantastic. There was a minor issue with my reservation (we were traveling as a large group, and there was a mix-up--though it wasn't clear whether it was on the hotel's end or the travel agent's), but they sorted it out quickly. I even ended up in a junior suite as they didn't have any of my room type available. It was an amazing upgrade that I didn't expect! We stayed here for a last minute getaway and overall enjoyed our stay. I was disappointed that I got a room overlooking a parking lot instead of a room with a downtown view or a patio view (even numbers) even though we stayed for 4 nights. Location is good! Close but not in the French quarter as it is loud near Bourbon street. It was a 10min walk from the E2 airport bus line and a street car to the Garden District runs in front of the hotel. Service was good! The first morning I ran 3 cycles through the Keurig which had calcifications in it. I requested a clean machine which they replaced. I also requested more regular coffee as they only stock it with 3 pods. They provide all the necessary toiletries which were not my favorite. But having limited luggage space, I did not bring my own. Shower ran well with warm water and drained well. Pillows and bed were comfortable. Decor is a bit dark but didn't bother me. The decor of the third floor is much nicer and I hope the rest of the hotel is updated similarly. The pool area on the roof was closed for maintenance. Gym had necessary equipment but I didn't use it as I walked 20k steps per day sightseeing. read more

Parking is 53.00 st hotel or next door for 38.00. The only issue was the mini bar fridge someone put food in there and left it. Stay away. My hotel room shower was broken too start off with. The water wouldn't turn on at all. Went down to get someone to fix it at the front desk. When I said that the shower wasn't working the hostess turned the whole issue into a thing about herself, when I asked how did they clean the shower with no water After I got through that rudeness I asked her to send the engineer at 9am to not wake my wife three separate times; she had the engineer sent within 5 minutes at 5am to wake her up. I have never had a host be so catty with a customer. I recommend staying away from this hotel till this hostess has manner training. Mold is in the air vents and all throughout the room. I know NOLA is humid so mold tends to be a problem but for a 4 star hotel they need to sort this out. I had to stay here for a work conference and I had one of the nicer rooms offered. Mold all in the vents, rooms smell incredibly musty. I asked to move rooms and even the next room still had mold but less than the first. I've was coughing the entire time I was in the room and had a runny nose due to the mold exposure. I've still had a cough since leaving and going back home for the past few days and I am not even asthmatic. You should NOT stay here especially if you are immune compromised or asthmatic. read more

The is mold in the bathroom for starters, the rooms are decaying and bit. It is clean enough but for the price the quality could be much better. I expected more. Plus my ambassador weekend night was not honored eventhough I booked under my certificate and no one was willing to help during the checkout process and only stated after when I contacted IHG that they could not change it since I checked out and could only credit a meal charge for the error, know that I did not have a meal charged to the room. Let me first say that, I'm not a fan of 'vintage' styled hotels but hey it's the Intercontinental right? Upon first glance, it's decent for a quick stay, which is what I was there for (EssenceFest). Here are my thoughts: Entrance/Lobby: 4 out of 5 Front Desk: 5 out of 5 Guest Room: 2 out of 5 Cost: 2 out of 5 (Definitely not worth the price.) The lobby area is nicely decorated if you like the old-style New Orleans theme. The desk agents were really nice. I arrived in New Orleans at 10:30 a.m. They checked me right in! Winning! Guestroom was meh...clean'ish. I'm OCD so I travel with cleaning gloves and Clorox wipes to clean and wipe down. It wasn't dirty but there was hair on the floor that wasn't ours **gross** on the bathroom floor. ALSO, there was a roach crawling on one of the beds **ewwww** you know the saying when it comes to roaches, where there is one, there are hundreds! So you know my skin was crawling!! I know it's an old building but ugh!! We didn't eat at the hotel, but I heard it was not good. All in all...I would not stay there again. read more

Me , my wife , and our youngest daughter went to New Orleans for my wife's Alma Mater Homecoming (Xavier University of Louisiana). This was one of the host hotels so we decided to stay here. Lots of Chicago Bears fans in town for the Saints vs Bears game. When we checked in we decided to valet as to not have to deal with self parking ( there's a garage near hotel) but not convenient with the one way traffic. We checked in a bit a room promptly. The hotel has the elevators that does not let you up stairs without a key card ( security). We got in our room ( two queen beds) and were very impressed by the size and set up. Were went down for dinner to the restaurant Trenasse to eat and have drinks. The food is decent but small. We had boudin balls ( 2 per serving) , crawfish bites ( lacking season), two bowls of gumbo ( very flavorful) 1 had lots of chicken and sausage while the other was mostly roux and soup. I had a burger with fries that was very tasty and well cooked the service here was excellent and drinks were good ( pricey). Now you might say all he has is good things to say. Well here we go, the valet was a regret. 1) Car takes for ever to come, you call front desk and they tell you 20 minutes, came down in 30 and still waited 15 minutes for car. During the day the young guys are slow but way more professional than the young lady with dreads at night. It's very obvious that she partakes of the Mary Jane during work as my car smelled of her. We were missing towels in our room and the young girl at the counter acted as if I was inconveniencing her by asking for more towels while she was texting . Last day there I called for the car and was told I had to come down to ask for the car. What is the point of valet then? Anyway we had a great trip, but the service at this hotel is lacking and drink prices are high for a little pour. Will go back to the Hilton next time or rent a House. read more

The hotel itself is beautiful--especially for the price point. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well-appointed. Room service is passable, though nothing to rave about. Unfortunately, everything falls apart when it comes to the valet and front desk customer service. The valet experience was one of the worst I've encountered--chaotic, unprofessional, and frankly unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber. The staff behaved more like parking lot bullies than hospitality professionals. They were rude, dismissive, and seemed completely untrained in how to interact with guests. The front desk didn't help much either--disorganized and seemingly indifferent to the problems guests face. It's a glaring weak point that drags down what could otherwise be a solid stay. Corporate needs to take a long, hard look at the ground-level operations here. The property is fantastic, but unless they clean house and get serious about guest service and accountability, they're going to keep losing repeat customers like me. read more

I went on a last minute, first trip to NOLA. I have wanted to travel down there, for quite some time and for many reasons had pinpointed Intercontinental as my choice. The main reason is because I've stayed in Intercontinental hotels in other cities and had a luxurious stays, but this one one was a slight let down-- from what I've come to expect. My flight arrived very early and I contacted the hotel about a potential early check-in, I was told I could pay $25 dollars, and that I could do so. When I arrived, that offered to waive that charge and provide me a late check out (2PM) which I appreciated. Upon my entry to the room, the room was what I saw online, but again, did not fit the standard from some of their other hotels. The bed was comfortable, but had some of the worst pillows I've ever experienced; they were almost non-existent. The water in the bathroom was not very warm and had low water pressure. One of the other biggest issues from the room was the television. It took me 30 minutes to get the tv on, it would just cut off and re-start up, on its own. The tv would not turn on at some points at all, I had to tap the tv to get it to finally turn on, which I found to be unacceptable. The staff here was courteous and helpful, but I would say this place was slightly a let down. read more

Truly. Stay elsewhere. Soooo dated. Desperately in need of a reno. Please do better. Came in for conference. My OG choice was all sold out... and this was my 4th choice... FML. I've stayed at an Intercontinental Hotel for my honeymoon in Bora Bora, and it was magnificent. I stayed at an Intercontinental in LA for a wedding, and it was ah-mazeball! So... why did this Intercontinental left sooo much to be desired??!! From service, food, quality, safety, and damn good sleep?!! Ugh. The lobby: so crowded and so dated. The concierge weren't the friendliest, (like no smile, just name, no rooms, do you want to pay for advance notification of room avail).. perhaps over-worked? and of course no rooms were remotely available... despite their check out time is 12 noon. Didn't get notification for a room until nearly 4pm. We hustled, quick showered and Uber to our dinner reservation at 5pm. Oh btw, anyone can walk right into the hotel and follow guests into elevators and press for any floors as long as a guest swipes their room card. Absolutely no security measure WHATSOEVER. (A delivery guy followed someone onto my floor... wtf). The room: 1404... worse floor to stay at. It's called the "Executive Floor"... right beneath their 24 hour GYM! *LMAO in sleep deprived tears*. Ironic, yes? Every freaking hour... some health obsessed manic is working out, pounding the treadmill, dropping those kettlebells like no care in the world... 24 hours. I REPEAT. WORSE. FLOOR. EVER. The bathroom is odd, can't close the shower doors, and because it's separated from the vanity area, makes the shower area extremely TINY. The walls are thin. I can hear my neighbors. (I slept with the TV on... trust me). The bed was not comfortable... the sheets were rough. I feel like I stayed at a 2.5 stars hotel/motel... definitely nothing higher. Came in for a quick weekend getaway and to go over to HARRAH's / converting to Caesar's property. My comp rooms at Caesar's were all gone since this was a last minute trip. I knew IHG would take care of me as they always do. Check in was quick and my room was ready early with an auto upgrade. Room was very clean, nice shower, Kurig, (the fridge was only for beverage purchases which I thought to be odd. What is you had medicine or something?). The beds were VERY comfortable. I slept like a rock and I have a nice bed at home to compare. Breakfast on the restaurant was filling. I got the ambassador and barely finished it. The COFFEE is good. Staff was all pleasant and helpful. I had an issue with my Kurig not closing and Josie at the front desk had someone replace it in my room while I was at breakfast. I had a plate of fruit, FIJI water and cookies waiting in my room when I get back. The hotel is in a safe area, you need your room key to access elevators which is nice. I walked all around the French quarter about a 20 minute walk away. Caesars casino is straight up the main Poydar ? Only 3 blocks away. Day and night I felt ok walking alone. Airport is about 20 minutes depending on traffic. LOTS to see around the area. ROYAL at and CANAL street are also a good stroll. It's been a while since I was in New Orleans and this was a very spontaneous trip for a weekend getaway. I would return for another weekend no problem and you get to see more and more as you become familiar with the area. read more

Bit dated but easy location to walk to many places and transportation stops. Checkin 5* Lobby is on the 1st floor on the right side. Gary was great checking us in, trying to find us connecting rooms, which he did. Location 5* on the east side of St Charles Ave between Poydras St & Gravier St -French Quarters: 4 blocks north -National WWII Museum: 7 blocks south -Canal Place Shopping Mall: 4 blocks (north)east -Hop on & off stop #8: 2 blocks SW (on NE corner of Poydras St where it meets Carondelet St) -The Ruby Slipper (breakfast place): 4 blocks NE Restaurants Trenasse: has happy hour specials; seems to always have many customers Rooms 3.5* Bathroom: bit dated; one shower had slow draining; 3* Bed: comfortable & clean bed, pillows & bedding 5* Connecting: ours were 1 King and the other 2 Queens 5* Decor: bit dated but functional. 3* Elevators: few doors away but quiet 5* Lights: fixtures had to be individually turned on & off; dim enough to need to turn on all the lights 3* Taxi: 4* need to ask the front desk to call taxis for us because none just waiting in front of the hotel Uber: 5* they found the hotel without a problem read more

3 star hotel with fantasy dreams of becoming a 4 star. At checkin was given incorrect room, was given an attitude by front desk when I advised it was wrong. Then was told they can "try" to find me another room. WTH...what about the actual room I booked!!! The $130.00 credit is a scam, they make you spend almost $400.00 in order to get the credit. The lady at the concierge is cranky, rude and not helpful. We were standing at the checkin when we watched and heard her say to another member of staff " i dont like talking to people" again WTH!!! No fridge in room but they have a warm mini bar. Ice maker is frequently out of ice. Bathtub didnt hold water. You are not given enough of anything. 2 towel, 2 QTips, 2 Wash Cloths. Maybe they never had a stay with a woman but one towel is for her hair one is for body...again wth am i suppose to use.... There is an upcharge each time you use your card and dont pay cash!! They add 20% gratuity on tabs even for just 2 people which dont forget about the visa upcharge that is include. 1 can of beer $12.00 1 jack and coke $12.00 Called for more towels, after 30 min wait I left the room and went to get them myself. Asked for more Toilet Paper from the front desk that only took 15 mins to arrive. Overall this place nickel and dimes you or as others my say they are sneaky like Diddy. You want better food, service and pricing stay 3 blocks down at the Hyatt House. The staff there is friendly and helpful. You will feel like your at hone but on vacation at home. We stayed here during the Eras tour weekend - and there were some great things about our stay. Staff was friendly and helpful, and it was such as easy and close walk to and from the Superdome. The Taylor themed decorations and events throughout the weekend were fun and festive, and it was nice to hear the Taylor songs in the lobby all weekend. I have stayed at the Intercontinental New Orleans before and usually really enjoyed my stay there. Now, The hotel seems to be in need of a little renovation. There was no daily housekeeping or cleaning service. You had to request to have your room cleaned and you had to get that Request in early on the evening before. No one told us this when we checked into the hotel and I was disappointed with my room wasn't cleaned for two days straight. I was there for a total of five days and only had my room cleaned once. Other days I had to request to have fresh towels and hygiene items brought to the room. read more
