Visiting this hotel is like stepping back in time but the rooms are modern with all the up to date amenities. Just a street over from Bourbon St. Walking distance to most things. I was here for a conference and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. In room dining was also fantastic. I think the best room service I've ever had. Cleaners were also beyond friendly and their turn down service was top notch.

We had a great stay at the Monteleone! Friendly front desk staff. Well appointed room. Friendly housekeepers. It's iconic for a reason!

Absolutely beautiful hotel! I am usually a Marriott person but here for work it definitely shows you the charm of independent properties. Check in was fast and friendly and the staff were amazing throughout! Property is absolutely stunning though it is a bit of a maze at times! The room was beautiful with calming grey and white tones, beautiful decor and an equally pretty bathroom! It was a little tight on space but was fine for one! Loved the traditional turndown - every day I would arrive back to robes, slippers and chocolates on the ned which was a nice touch! Had a lovely stay in this beautiful property!

We came to New Orleans on a package tour and this was the hotel they booked for us Sunday through Friday. We arrived a little earlier than check-in time but were able to get to our room no problem. We even explored and found the rooftop pool, gym (with a great view of the city), spa and side entrance to the garage. Overall our stay was very nice and our bath amenities were refreshed daily. The location is great for walking to nearby antique stores, restaurants and the rest of the French Quarter. The HVAC in our room was a little loud at times so we shut it off when we achieved our ideal room temp. One odd little incident was when one day I found another elevator from the floor with the pool to an even higher roof with an open area to view the city. When I brought my wife there to see the view, and employee said we weren't supposed to be there but I told her there was no signage saying that and the elevator was not card-protected. Oh well ....

Hotel Monteleone is not just living off their name - they are staying high quality and high end. We booked the upgraded king room and it was gorgeous. Refurbished with a makeup vanity outside the bathroom, high quality linens and pillows, blackout curtains, and no noise. The staff were so helpful and friendly. Carousel bar is a classic and can't be skipped. Food is also excellent. We loved the location as well. Close enough to walk to the top spots but not noisy. They also do turn down service with water and chocolate! We would stay here again!

We stop here every time we're in NOLA to see the Carousel Bar! The hotel is beautiful as is, but we especially love visiting around the holidays with all of the Christmas lights and decor! Would love to stay here one night soon!

I didn't stay at this hotel; I really just came in to visit the beautiful Carousel Bar on the first floor. It's such a beautiful concept, and I think it's a must-visit if you're in the area. I was in a big group, and so we stopped in for a quick drink, but I wanted to share my pretty photos and review. :)

Oh Hotel Monteleone, how do I love thee? Let me count the amenities. From the moment I walked through the doors, I knew I was in for something special. After dinner on my first night, I returned to robes and slippers laid out, chocolates on the bed, and boxed water waiting patiently by each nightstand. Yes, you heard right. Turn down service. My oh my, it's been a minute since I've seen such hotel chivalry. No passive-aggressive towel reuse signs here. Instead, my makeup was lovingly arranged from tallest to shortest like a little glam army, the bed was crisp and cloudlike, and bless the design gods, all the lights could be controlled from the side of the headboard. No frantic bedside switch hunt required. The doorman called me by name every time I came and went. I see you, sir. His breakfast recommendations were so spot-on I was tempted to just hand him the reins for the rest of the trip. The front desk angel even offered me an upgrade when I checked in and I gladly obliged for a small fee. Southern hospitality is alive and thriving in this place. Now let's talk about that Carousel Bar. A spinning bar and live jazz equals instant good vibes. The band absolutely brought the house down with "When the Saints Go Marching In." People were dancing, singing, living. This place doesn't just give you a room. It gives you a scene. My last-day breakfast at Cirollo? Chef's kiss. Avocado toast with lump crab meat, yes, lump, and a side of perfectly crisped bacon. If I had a second stomach, I'd have ordered another. But the true showstopper? The rooftop pool. For a second I forgot I was in New Orleans and thought I had landed in the Caribbean. Poolside bites like caprese toast and shrimp, Palomas mixed to perfection, and water spritzing fans cutting through the 100-degree heat like they were invented just for me. Even my fellow hotel guests were lovely. We chatted poolside for hours. Bliss. If I had to nitpick, it's the half-glass rain shower situation. Let's just say, as a Black woman with a fresh weave, I wasn't trying to baptize my bundles just to rinse off. The handheld was a nice compromise, but the water rolling over the edge meant stacking towels like sandbags. A small price to pay, but a design flaw nonetheless. Still, Hotel Monteleone, I'll absolutely be back. As they say in New Orleans, Laissez les bons temps rouler. And roll they did.

What a great hotel experience during our stay in NOLA. Centrally located, this hotel has everything you need if you're looking for a true NOLA experience. We stayed in the Iberville Suites which came with two beds, one sofa bed, and 1.5 bathrooms. This was comfortable enough for four girls. The staff was accommodating too. Would definitely stay here again!

This is my latest update based on my recent stay during the Mardi Gras timeframe. The hotel is still a very nice place to stay, but it continues to need improvements, especially at the front desk level. For the second time in a row, I was NOT recognized as an iPrefer member at check in. It was ironic since I had just received an email from iPrefer stating my status was moved up to Gold. In addition, there are "We are an iPrefer Member" signs all along the Front Desk. Once again, I recommend the staff be properly trained in this important welcome greeting. I also did not receive my "Welcome Amenity" in my room upon arrival. I went down to the Concierge Desk to inquire about it. The gentleman apologized for the oversight and said he would take care of it right away. (Previously, I was given four chocolates and now they are down to just two in a box. Being a Gold iPrefer member seems to have lost its luster at this hotel.) The majority of rooms are quite nice, but not necessarily roomy. I had a nice Traditional King Bed room with a desk table and chair and another chair to the side. It was perfect for just me. I noticed the refrigerator was larger than my last stay in a suite room, so that was a definite improvement. The bathroom has very limited shelf space for your personal amenities, but given the age of this hotel, it is to be expected. (Recommendation-You may want to consider looking at the "Preferred" rooms on the website if there are two or more of you for additional comfort.) The hotel is beautiful, and the Carousel Bar is always a fun spot for a drink. The turn down service is a nice touch. The beds are comfortable and clean, and the bathrooms are very clean also. A Keurig coffee machine is in your room, which is also appreciated. I'm just not so sure I will select the Hotel Monteleone the next time I'm in New Orleans. After walking around the French Quarter, I noticed several other options at a more reasonable price level for Reward members (I'm Gold at several hotel chains) that I plan to consider for the future.

Thank you to the staff and housekeeping for great accommodations during a part of my New Orleans trip. Everyone was awesome during my stay. I was in the Iberville tower which has updated rooms with state of the art features and luxury finishes. The bed was comfortable and had censors at the bottom which lights up when you step out of bed. I enjoyed the set up overall. I took off a half star for the one ply tissue paper & a half star for the finger prints stained on the wall. Housekeeping came promptly when I mentioned it. I still recommend the hotel over the others!

My DH and I booked the Hotel Monteleone for our 30th Anniversary, hoping for a memorable trip for our "30th." And let me tell you: Hotel Monteleone delivered! From the moment you enter this exquisitely appointed hotel, you know every little thing's gonna be alright! The hotel lobby is vast and luxurious. The staff at the hotel - oh my goodness! - there wasn't a single person we encountered, from the Doormen to the Valet to the Front Desk to the In-Room Dining Staff (shout out to Priscilla for going above & beyond!) that wasn't operating at the top of their game. All of the staff seemed genuinely happy to be there and they were welcoming, knowledgeable and professional. My DH and I felt extremely cared for. Having the Doormen not only remember us but inquire about our day and making sure things were going well - wow! What a call-back to the luxury hotels of yore. Speaking of luxury, we chose to stay in a Vieux Carre Suite and it was the perfect size for us. Beautifully decorated and cozy, our suite was a lovely "home away from home" for the days we were in New Orleans. The bathroom itself was incredible, featuring so much marble and not only a shower but a large bathtub as well. Truly, EXCEPTIONAL. Another thing I feel should really be noted is the location of the hotel. Staying in the French Quarter on Royal Street, what a delight! My DH and I were able to walk to everything we wanted to - from well-known restaurants to a quick coffee and beignets, all were in walking distance. I could go on and on about how much we enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Monteleone, but I have a return trip to plan. See you soon, Hotel Monteleone!

Do any of the rooms have a separate sitting area?

Certainly, many of our suites at Hotel Monteleone feature distinct sleeping and lounging areas, ensuring a comfortable and relaxing stay. If you have any more inquiries or need assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us via phone call or email.

What is the best and most affordable way to travel to and from the airport to this hotel? Don't want to rent a car if not necessary. Their webpage only talks about a privately owned shuttle service, which seems pricey, and taxi.

Can children go into the Carousel Bar?

I dont think children are allowed as its 21 and older. You may be able to let them see it but I dont think they would be able to actually sit at the bar.

Is there a bar at the pool?

Yes and the pool is awesome!

Does the hotel offer parking, or is that a separate charge?

Yes and yes. Valet parking, over-night garaged charged to your room. Suggest you contact them for rates if concerned - seems like it was around $50 total fee for the 24/hour period.

I have reserved a room with 2 double beds. I can't remember how small double beds are... Can 2 adults fit comfortably in one? Does anyone know if they have roll-away beds. I could put our 13 year old on that!

Double beds are ok for two small-to-medium size adults who want to sleep close together. Most couples probably prefer king or queen. As to roll-away beds, it seems highly likely that Hotel Monteleone has them.

Great location, great price, great staff, and great views if you choose the garden. We spent two nights, one before and one after a cruise with Carnival. We arrived in town a few hours before checking and the accommodated us wonderfully! They had a room ready and waiting for us 2 hours before checking in! Then upon arriving back from our cruise we arrived back and port and off the boat by 8:30 am. Our plan was to check our bags in and walk around until check in. The man at the front desk said absolutely not, checked us in upon arrival at 9 am at no extra cost, and allowed my boys and I to rest from the lack of sleep we had from the night before because of rocky seas. This hotel is the personification of "if you respect the staff they will respect you"! Like all old buildings and those that have seen the hurricane in 2005, the hotel has its issues. We did have toilet running and cold shower issues, but to me this was a small price to pay for the respect and kindness the staff showed us during our stay! Paint in the room was chipping, mattress was stained, but overall these were things we could ignore. However, something we couldn't ignore while using the bathroom in the middle of our first night, was that we found we weren't alone. There were 3+ cockroaches hanging out near the tub and a few scurried away before we could kill/photograph them. The next morning we went to the front desk, got our refund and switched hotels. Front desk staff was AWESOME, so kind and quick to help us. However, after we asked to cancel our stay and went back up to the room to get our bags and leave, one of the hotel housekeepers decided to come up to our room and "confront us". She wanted us to show her the cockroaches (that we had killed and flushed) and tried telling us she's never seen a cockroach at Hotel Le Marais before, basically calling us liars. Lol, well, here's some pictures to prove it. Let's ask the audience. Positives: The front desk staff was exceptional. Very helpful, very kind and knowledgeable. We booked this hotel based on the Yelp & Google reviews and Reddit recommendations…read more The only PRO of staying here is the location. It is very conveniently located to Bourbon Street. The 2 things I care most about when staying in a hotel is a comfortable night's rest and a good bathroom/shower. The bed in our room was the most uncomfortable mattress I have ever slept on in my entire life. It was so mushy that when you laid your head down, you sunk so far into it that your legs were literally 45 degrees above your head. I ended up sleeping upside down in the bed with my head where your feet go in order to feel even remotely comfortable. The pillows were all extremely flat, when you put your head on one it sank so far your face was about 1/2 inch from the mattress. I had to use 3 pillows stacked on each other. I had a stiff back, neck and joints the entire time we were there. The 2nd issue was hot water. The first morning, we attempted to shower, it only got barely luke warm for me and when my husband showered immediately after he only got ice cold water. We stopped at the front desk that morning on our way out for the day and told the woman at the front desk. She said she hadn't received any other complaints so it must be specific to our room and she would send engineering there to look at it. (we were getting hot water in the sink). Later that evening when we returned to our room, we immediately tested the shower again and it was still ice cold. So we went back to the front desk to check if engineering had come. We spoke to the same woman from the morning who acted like it was the first time we were telling her this and she said the exact same thing. I asked if they were going to come ASAP because we needed to shower soon and we couldn't take ice cold showers. She ignored my question and answered the ringing phone. A manager happened to be at the desk and overheard our conversation. He asked what our room number was and said that because of the old building and the pipes the hot water takes longer to get there. He said this was a KNOWN Issue by the staff, management and the owner. He told us to run the shower for AT LEAST 15 to 20 minutes, simultaneously with the sink and it should get hot. He also offered to move us to a different room but when I asked if he could guarantee if we wouldn't have the same problem in that room he couldn't give me a straight answer. We had already unpacked everything and didn't want to go through that hassle without a guarantee. So we went back to the room and let it run for 20 minutes and it eventually got hot. So for the remaining 3 mornings, we had to set our alarms for 30 minutes earlier so we could get up and run our shower before hand. For nearly $300 a night, we felt that this was ridiculous. Old building or not, if its a problem, then either don't put people in those rooms, or get it fixed somehow. Why should anyone be subjected to an ice old shower or an inconvenience to their time because the owner hasn't done anything about it? We visited the hotel Bar, the Bourbon O'bar 3 times during our stay and each time we received TERRIBLE service. None of the bartenders were friendly to us, in fact they were pretty rude. Each time it took them at least 10 minutes to even take our order (by standing there and looking at us and not saying anything). The bar was not busy or crowded any of these times. They would then start making one of our drinks, put it down and make other people's drinks, leave and go into a back room, play on their cell phone, talk to each other, or carry the glass around while doing other things. My husband ordered an old fashioned and the alcohol was sitting in the jar with the ice for over 5 minutes while the bartender carried it around doing other things, causing it to get watered down. When making a cocktail, it should be completed from start to finish without doing other things in the middle. I ordered the Mardi Drop cocktail on 2 different days. The first time, it was actually very good. The 2nd time from a different bartender it was horrible .He also sprinkled probably a tablespoon of cinnamon on top of it (which the first didn't have) which made it nearly undrinkable. I had to stir it into the martini in order to not get a mouthful of cinnamon with each sip. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant Roux because of the bad Yelp reviews - we felt we could get a better breakfast elsewhere outside the hotel. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all unless you don't care about being comfortable or friendly service.

Depending on the side of the hotel you select when booking your room and the days you choose, you may be able to get away with just a sound machine and earplugs, or you may be getting too old and need to look elsewhere. If you stay on the courtyard side, you should have enough barriers to deflect the nonstop barrage of noise coming from all the bars and clubs on Bourbon Street, especially between Bienville and St. Ann, on a Friday and Saturday night particularly. We had a room on the third floor with a balcony overlooking Bourbon Street that gave us a great view and the opportunity to enjoy wine and cocktails as the festivities picked up steam throughout the afternoons of our stay. The bed was wicked comfortable. The set of drawers had plenty of space to put clothes with a small fridge for keeping drinks cool and leftovers from spoiling. The closet space was ample and was able to fit all of our hang-up clothing and our suitcases. There was a nice lounge chair next to the desk to chill if you didn't want to sit on the balcony. However, the bathroom was cramped and narrow with these weird double doors that could cause trouble if you are going to do business in the middle of the night. The water pressure wasn't great either and if you don't have the curtain positioned right then you're going to have a puddle. Housekeeping did come by to change our linens and provide fresh towels every day, which was appreciated. The front desk was very affable and accommodating, especially with holding out luggage when our room wasn't quite ready yet to check-in. And I liked that there was a security person checking people that were actually staying at the hotel to avoid stragglers, random drunks, and transients from entering. I didn't have the chance to use the pool while I was there, but we were busy walking around the French Quarter to really care. Same went with having anything in the restaurant for food. They did have the little mini mart on the ground floor that worked for when we needed more bottles of water that were larger than the complimentary ones. Accommodations at the hotel were solid, but just know if you stay here, you're experiencing the full Bourbon Street treatment. It is always loud at night, especially, on the weekends.

This is a very elegant hotel with top notch amenities. Located in the French Quarter, this hotel…read moreoffers ultimate convenience, with restaurants and cafes just a few minute walk, not to mention its proximity to Bourbon street where the action is. The fresh flowers at the lobby looked fabulous. The room looked elegant and clean. The toiletries are, of course, my all time favorite. The view of the courtyard was amazing. The grounds were very much well kept. The staff that stood out was Corayma Castillo. She was very kind, professional and helpful. Everyone else were otherwise great. I loved that they had tea and beignets available at the lobby in the afternoon. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience.

Never been to Nola and was here for a wedding. We figured visiting other ritz Carlton properties, this was going to chalk up to similar stays. You Could say it was a disappointment. Room decor is outdated and a little musty smelling. The hallways and one hallway area (maybe ice area) are so rundown and dirty feeling/looking, I was shocked of the lack of standards of this place offers. It's like that saying putting lipstick on a pig to make it look presentable. The highlight was the mini beignets being served in the lobby area which my son loved ! That was a plus! The bed was comfortable too. If visiting again, I would do better research of hotels regardless of "name".

Robbie especially cracked me up; so much personality! We booked a Premium room in the Hermann House across the street, which was spacious and comfortable. It has a beautiful brick courtyard. There's a pool at the main hotel across the street; could use a little greenery to spruce it up. Was a little concerned by the negative reviews, but we had a very enjoyable stay.

Hotel is still dated etc but service is good Will give 2 stars because it is a cool historical building and front desk people on duty seem to want to help . The original front desk clerk wasn't the friendliest. Then we got to our room and just feels damp , musty and unclean. (But spacious). There is this raggy musty couch that seems "damp" for lack of better word, which I wouldn't even touch. Rug seems nasty. There is a sign saying "enjoy your two artisan waters " and there are no waters here. The room phone doesn't work so If we need anything have to walk downstairs. The view is of nothing, but worst part is AC is on 60 degrees and we are sweating in here. It's not really blowing and would estimate it's about 75 in here . They are "sending someone " to fix ac but now we have to wait for this to happen and can't shower or get ready. Will update review if they make things right .
