Classic hotel near the French Quarter with many sites to visit within walking distance. Overall, property was clean and well kept with helpful staff visible and available at all times. Despite the hotel being busy, our room/hallways were relatively quiet with the occasional murmurs coming from next door through the wall. The Fountain Lodge made for a convenient breakfast option in the mornings. Their breakfast buffet catered to all of the dietary restrictions within our party. I had to dock a star due to the inconsistent housekeeping service for our room and others in our party. Everything from toiletries not being consistently refreshed to inconsistent turn down service to one of the rooms totally being missed and not being cleaned.

I've been to Nola 20 times and this April I am going to my 20th JazzFest. Last year staying in the CBD I strolled around taking pics when I finally ducked into The Roosevelt New Orleans - a Waldorf Astoria Hotel. You don't really "duck" into this grand dame, elegant old world historic hotel. You slowly walk or perhaps saunter taking in all the beauty and luxury of a hotel originally opened in 1893 as "The Hotel Grunewald" and renamed in 1923 after Theodore Roosevelt. The Roosevelt New Orleans is located at 130 Roosevelt Way, just one block from the French Quarter. It is a 504-room landmark that features opulent, classic decor, the renowned Sazerac Bar, the Waldorf Astoria Spa, and a rooftop pool. I did go into the snazzy red hued Sazerac Bar and had a cocktail walking the long lobby walkway with cool marble that makes you forget whatever weather the Quarter is currently dishing out. For an adventure back to a different era, saunter in and enjoy.

An older historic hotel so keep that in mind. What was baffling is that the whole front set of elevators were not working and there was no signage to indicate that even though staff were told. The pool area looked nice and it seems there will be cabanas added. We ordered food from the bar, and unfortunately there was a mishap with it but the staff comped the bill right away. There's seems to be a nice breakfast buffet and lounge within the hotel that might be worth exploring.

We stayed at The Roosevelt during Mardi Gras for 3 nights and it was perfect! First of all, the service all around was great! From the front doorman to the front desk personnel to the concierge and the cleaning staff, everyone was very helpful and friendly! Secondly, the hotel itself is beautiful and clean. We appreciated the extra security precautions during Mardi Gras time which kept out drunk people that weren't actually staying in the hotel. They did this by supplying day-specific wrist bands. We would definitely stay here again!

Pros: -Excellent location near Bourbon Street and shops/restaurants. -Friendly staff -Large rooms Cons: -Bugs - huge roach in my room -Scarce hot water. Ran the hot water for 30 minutes and it was still tepid warm at best. -I contacted the hotel about the above two issues, and they said they would take care of it, but never did. -Tiny gym

I love this hotel, the atmosphere and the service is great. Yes, its not new but it has wonderful character! The beds are comfortable and of good size. The only thing I am not a fan of is the restaurant situation, and even the staff seemed a bit confused. I was trying to find a good spot for lunch and the sent me down the hall but that was closed, the only thing open was the cafe where i sat down and someone served me water and then nothing happened... I finally caught the attention of a guy who then informed me you had to order at the counter. Plastic utensils and a very limited amount of choices. But! The absolutely fabulous bar makes up for that, it is so cool and just an absolut must see when in New Orleans.

This is the only hotel my husband and I stay at when visiting New Orleans! The rooms and common areas are VERY clean. The staff are extremely kind and accommodating. The in-room dining is speedy and delicious. We are always in town in the winter or early spring so we haven't had the opportunity to enjoy the pool but it looks fantastic! It's a very short walk to two nice theaters, which is usually why we are in town. The turn down service is such a nice touch. I really can't say enough nice things about our experiences at this hotel. We always have a great stay!

I love this hotel. It has the cutest gift shop, Dominican and the Sazrac Bar. At Christmas its mandatory to walk thru the beautiful decorations. I've never actually stayed here, but not coming by for shopping, eating and drinking would be unthinkable.

The Roosevelt is the only place we stay when we're in New Orleans. The location is centralized to the city, and puts us within walking distance of our favorite shops and restaurants. It is a beautiful older hotel, and it has been maintained extremely well. While veryone we have ever interacted with has always been helpful, knowledgeable, and kind, there is one person in particular who stands out above the rest, a bellman named Ernie. Ernie has helped us with our bags and other things on multiple occasions, and has always made us feel at "home". He is not pretentious, but instead makes us feel like The Roosevelt is HIS home, and we are welcome there. As always, this last stay was just amazing, and what put it over the top was Ernie. Thank you Ernie for being so helpful and kind. We will see you next time.

Visited The Roosevelt New Orleans, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel while in New Orleans. The atmosphere was elegant and grand, full of classic Old NOLA charm that you expect from a true five-star landmark. The location was perfect, just a block from the French Quarter, making it easy to explore while still feeling removed from the chaos. The service was professional and attentive, though at times a bit slow. We stayed in a spacious One-Bedroom Luxury Suite, which was extremely comfortable and well appointed -- a Nespresso coffee maker, two 55-inch flat-screen TVs, a great shower with multi-nozzle features, and a smart dual minibar/personal fridge that still left room for your own items. My only regret was that the bath products, once Salvatore Ferragamo, have been replaced with Aesop. Overall, a classic luxury stay and absolutely worth a return visit. Saluti

Everyone and Everything bespeaks old world luxury. We can't say enough to emphasize that the Roosevelt does it right. Just steps from the Quarter. The Sazerac Bar in the Hotel is a must do. Gorgeous Art Deco Bar

This hotel is gorgeous. It feels like you're staying in a piece of history (with modern renovations of course). Pros: - people help grab your bags and open the car door when you pull up in front of the hotel - love a revolving door - friendly and easy check in - gorgeous lobby and room with gold and marble detailing - gorgeous decor everywhere - some vintage touches with a mail chute and old phones with the rotary dial on every floor - did not use the pool but it looked gorgeous - great restaurants in the hotel - extremely convenient location; right next to bourbon street, French quarter, streetcar stops, lots of restaurants, a CVS and a Walgreens - replenish your water and even give you a piece of chocolate with your water (it's the little things in life okay) - qi charger in the room for your phone - feels decently safe; need a key card to get in after hours and to go up the elevators - decently quiet; can sometimes mildly hear the street/neighbors but not bothersome Cons: - no gym - previous guests had left trash on the drawers that was not noticed but staff apologized for this - one day the cleaning staff took away all our towels but staff quickly sent like 10 towels as soon as we alerted them

Breakfast at the Fountain in the lobby. Excellent we are still dreaming about this.

Amazing staff and historic hotel. Well situated in New Orleans. Staff was fabulous. Bed was very comfortable. That being said it is a historic hotel and an older hotel 132 years old. Therefore the water pressure was variable and hot water took a long time to arrive. Staff constantly tried to work on it. Fabulous lobby area, especially at Christmas time. We were extremely well taken care of.

Ask the Community - The Roosevelt New Orleans, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel

Do this hotel do any special room decorations for birthday?

Yes... you should receive an email prior to your arrival from The Roosevelt concierge. If not, contact the concierge to set it up. I remember the email prior to my arrival asking if I needed anything like this set up. Hope this helps!

    Is there music?

There isn't typically music in the hotel but it's New Orleans....so there's TONS of amazing music venues within walking distance or a short Uber ride away. Frenchman street has tons of great places to catch performers.

    Fountain lounge menu?

They have one. Food is good. I prefer Dominica also in the hotel.

Great location, great price, great staff, and great views if you choose the garden. We spent two nights, one before and one after a cruise with Carnival. We arrived in town a few hours before checking and the accommodated us wonderfully! They had a room ready and waiting for us 2 hours before checking in! Then upon arriving back from our cruise we arrived back and port and off the boat by 8:30 am. Our plan was to check our bags in and walk around until check in. The man at the front desk said absolutely not, checked us in upon arrival at 9 am at no extra cost, and allowed my boys and I to rest from the lack of sleep we had from the night before because of rocky seas. This hotel is the personification of "if you respect the staff they will respect you"! Like all old buildings and those that have seen the hurricane in 2005, the hotel has its issues. We did have toilet running and cold shower issues, but to me this was a small price to pay for the respect and kindness the staff showed us during our stay! I highly recommend and hands down one of the best hotels in NOLA. This is my new hotel whenever I stay in New Orleans going forward!

Paint in the room was chipping, mattress was stained, but overall these were things we could ignore. However, something we couldn't ignore while using the bathroom in the middle of our first night, was that we found we weren't alone. There were 3+ cockroaches hanging out near the tub and a few scurried away before we could kill/photograph them. The next morning we went to the front desk, got our refund and switched hotels. Front desk staff was AWESOME, so kind and quick to help us. However, after we asked to cancel our stay and went back up to the room to get our bags and leave, one of the hotel housekeepers decided to come up to our room and "confront us". She wanted us to show her the cockroaches (that we had killed and flushed) and tried telling us she's never seen a cockroach at Hotel Le Marais before, basically calling us liars. Lol, well, here's some pictures to prove it. Let's ask the audience. Positives: The front desk staff was exceptional. Very helpful, very kind and knowledgeable. It's located close to Bourbon and has a nice courtyard. Negatives: ROACHES IN THE ROOMS, confrontational housekeeper, thin walls.

We booked this hotel based on the Yelp & Google reviews and Reddit recommendations…read more The only PRO of staying here is the location. It is very conveniently located to Bourbon Street. The 2 things I care most about when staying in a hotel is a comfortable night's rest and a good bathroom/shower. The bed in our room was the most uncomfortable mattress I have ever slept on in my entire life. It was so mushy that when you laid your head down, you sunk so far into it that your legs were literally 45 degrees above your head. I ended up sleeping upside down in the bed with my head where your feet go in order to feel even remotely comfortable. The pillows were all extremely flat, when you put your head on one it sank so far your face was about 1/2 inch from the mattress. I had to use 3 pillows stacked on each other. I had a stiff back, neck and joints the entire time we were there. The 2nd issue was hot water. The first morning, we attempted to shower, it only got barely luke warm for me and when my husband showered immediately after he only got ice cold water. We stopped at the front desk that morning on our way out for the day and told the woman at the front desk. She said she hadn't received any other complaints so it must be specific to our room and she would send engineering there to look at it. (we were getting hot water in the sink). Later that evening when we returned to our room, we immediately tested the shower again and it was still ice cold. So we went back to the front desk to check if engineering had come. We spoke to the same woman from the morning who acted like it was the first time we were telling her this and she said the exact same thing. I asked if they were going to come ASAP because we needed to shower soon and we couldn't take ice cold showers. She ignored my question and answered the ringing phone. A manager happened to be at the desk and overheard our conversation. He asked what our room number was and said that because of the old building and the pipes the hot water takes longer to get there. He said this was a KNOWN Issue by the staff, management and the owner. He told us to run the shower for AT LEAST 15 to 20 minutes, simultaneously with the sink and it should get hot. He also offered to move us to a different room but when I asked if he could guarantee if we wouldn't have the same problem in that room he couldn't give me a straight answer. We had already unpacked everything and didn't want to go through that hassle without a guarantee. So we went back to the room and let it run for 20 minutes and it eventually got hot. So for the remaining 3 mornings, we had to set our alarms for 30 minutes earlier so we could get up and run our shower before hand. For nearly $300 a night, we felt that this was ridiculous. Old building or not, if its a problem, then either don't put people in those rooms, or get it fixed somehow. Why should anyone be subjected to an ice old shower or an inconvenience to their time because the owner hasn't done anything about it? We visited the hotel Bar, the Bourbon O'bar 3 times during our stay and each time we received TERRIBLE service. None of the bartenders were friendly to us, in fact they were pretty rude. Each time it took them at least 10 minutes to even take our order (by standing there and looking at us and not saying anything). The bar was not busy or crowded any of these times. They would then start making one of our drinks, put it down and make other people's drinks, leave and go into a back room, play on their cell phone, talk to each other, or carry the glass around while doing other things. My husband ordered an old fashioned and the alcohol was sitting in the jar with the ice for over 5 minutes while the bartender carried it around doing other things, causing it to get watered down. When making a cocktail, it should be completed from start to finish without doing other things in the middle. I ordered the Mardi Drop cocktail on 2 different days. The first time, it was actually very good. The 2nd time from a different bartender it was horrible .He also sprinkled probably a tablespoon of cinnamon on top of it (which the first didn't have) which made it nearly undrinkable. I had to stir it into the martini in order to not get a mouthful of cinnamon with each sip. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant Roux because of the bad Yelp reviews - we felt we could get a better breakfast elsewhere outside the hotel. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all unless you don't care about being comfortable or friendly service.

Just be prepared for the wall of noise if you're staying on a Friday and Saturday night and have a room facing Bourbon Street; you will need more than the sound machine and earplugs the hotel provides you. But if you're there to party hard on Bourbon Street at all the touristy bars, then you will be in your element. Depending on the side of the hotel you select when booking your room and the days you choose, you may be able to get away with just a sound machine and earplugs, or you may be getting too old and need to look elsewhere. If you stay on the courtyard side, you should have enough barriers to deflect the nonstop barrage of noise coming from all the bars and clubs on Bourbon Street, especially between Bienville and St. Ann, on a Friday and Saturday night particularly. We had a room on the third floor with a balcony overlooking Bourbon Street that gave us a great view and the opportunity to enjoy wine and cocktails as the festivities picked up steam throughout the afternoons of our stay. The bed was wicked comfortable. The set of drawers had plenty of space to put clothes with a small fridge for keeping drinks cool and leftovers from spoiling. The closet space was ample and was able to fit all of our hang-up clothing and our suitcases. There was a nice lounge chair next to the desk to chill if you didn't want to sit on the balcony. However, the bathroom was cramped and narrow with these weird double doors that could cause trouble if you are going to do business in the middle of the night. The water pressure wasn't great either and if you don't have the curtain positioned right then you're going to have a puddle. Housekeeping did come by to change our linens and provide fresh towels every day, which was appreciated. The front desk was very affable and accommodating, especially with holding out luggage when our room wasn't quite ready yet to check-in. And I liked that there was a security person checking people that were actually staying at the hotel to avoid stragglers, random drunks, and transients from entering. I didn't have the chance to use the pool while I was there, but we were busy walking around the French Quarter to really care. Same went with having anything in the restaurant for food. They did have the little mini mart on the ground floor that worked for when we needed more bottles of water that were larger than the complimentary ones. Accommodations at the hotel were solid, but just know if you stay here, you're experiencing the full Bourbon Street treatment. It is always loud at night, especially, on the weekends.
