I gave them another try and is was much better than my last visit. I joined their preferred customer level and it made a big difference. With the preferred package you can pre pay and go straight to your car. Weill they dropped the call there as they didn't have me listed on the prefeed board. I took 1 star off for that. The person that took care of me was able to make it work although it took longer than if they had updated the board with my name. but never the less it was a 100% improvement over my last visit. I had a really nice sedan that was clean and was very efficient . At this point I will continue to use them with my referred status. read more

There is a reason for the 1 star reviews. No one here communicates, the service is awful. The woman with the buzz cut platinum blonde hair just sat there on her phone. We asks questions and she gave us all incorrect answers. They woman next to her was much better, quicker, and fixed all the wrong answers we were given. Now- returning the car. Good luck- that was also an awful process. read more

The sale must've been with Avis this week. Had the longer line, but despite that, we got our vehicle pretty quick. The car wasn't in the best shape and had some pretty serious damage to the front bumper, but it was easily documented and no issues afterwards. read more

we had to stand in line for about two hours. When we finally got our vehicle, the attendant wrote the complete wrong number on our slip which made finding the car confusing. We were told that we needed to return the car at 97% battery but when we received the car, it was only at 30% battery. Then we had to spend two hours sitting at an electric charger before continuing to our destination. At the end of the week, I received a $250 cleaning fee. We called to ask what the fee was for and apparently it was just for a little bit of sand that did not count as requiring a cleaning fee so they took it off. seems like a lot of carelessness that caused us to be inconvenienced and almost charged $250 when I should not have been. read more

The best thing would for them to go out of business. If I could leave ZERO stars, I would. I made a reservation on line for their airport location because all the other locations were listed as SOLD OUT. After receiving an email confirmation, I take a taxi from downtown to the airport. When I arrive I am told their policy is that they DO NOT honor same day reservations. Not even for Avis Preferred members and they have no cars available. I was told by a very rude clerk to wait 6 hrs and hopefully, maybe, kinda, sorta...someone will return a car. Why on earth would they accept my payment in advance, issue a written confirmation and have such a rude policy? A reservation they had NO intention of honoring??? I wasted $120 in round trip taxi fares to not get a rental car...NEVER AGAIN! They have lost a decades long loyal customer. A decades long 'preferred' member. If this is how they treat 'preferred' members I don't even want to know how poorly they treat others. read more

Oh gosh! This was an experience! Flying in on Southwest Airlines, we arrived at MSY & had reserved a vehicle with Avis. Note: MSY terminal does not have rental cars on site. You must ride in a rental car shuttle and drive about 10mins to the rental car terminal. The bus ride was fine and can't complain about that . The only issue that we had was with the vehicle itself . I had arranged for a full-size sedan - price was reasonable and when we arrive there, we got keys to a Dodge hornet. Now, I've been driving for many many years. I'm in my 40s and this has been the most difficult vehicle to understand. Everything is computerized which I get nowadays, but Dodge hornets are the worst cars to drive. But not only that .... arriving in New Orleans means it's hot and It's humid. Well, guess what the air-conditioning DID NOT WORK! I spent over 15 to 20 minutes, trying to adjust the air-conditioning to max to sync, over and over again, and nothing happened. I gave up! All in all, I wrote a LONG, detailed email to Avis customer service told him about how filthy the car was when we arrived, it hadn't even been washed the interior had ketchup packets in the glove compartment and of course the AC didn't work! Avis is response was thank you and did nothing about it! Seriously, not happy with Avis and would not be recommending them. read more

As a longtime Avis customer, I'm disappointed to say that my experience with the New Orleans location was one of the worst I've had with any rental company. Months after returning a vehicle in perfect condition, I received a letter claiming vague, undocumented damage--without any photos or specifics. I was charged over $1,300 until I spent significant time disputing the claim. Eventually, Avis dropped the charge as a "one-time courtesy," but only after implying that the incident was somehow my fault for not having taken photos at pickup and drop-off. This on top of the fact that "the location has not provided documented of the condition of the vehicle". Since then, I've followed AVIS's advice religiously. But in a more recent experience, even after immediately reporting damage and submitting evidence, I was met with a convoluted process, rejected uploads, and a lack of clarity. The burden consistently falls on the customer--even when Avis delivers a damaged vehicle. This is not how a reputable company should treat loyal customers. If you rent from Avis, take full 360° video before and after your rental--because even if you do everything right, you may still find yourself being blamed. read more

Avis - Screenshot of email from Avis customer service blaming me (wow...) - Car Rental Near Me - Kenner, Louisiana

Reserved a three room row SUV on July 15. Was assured that the vehicle would be there in the morning when I picked it up showed up at the counter gave them. My reservation. Kept me waiting a half hour saying they were getting the vehicle ready then tell me that there's no vehicles available that they're sorry asked to speak to the manager. The manager tells me that they were not honoring any reservations made in the last 24 hours how ridiculous is that? I was upset. She kept telling me to calm down, but that she didn't have a car for me. I was leaving on the road in an hour six people six pieces of luggage and now I'm stuck. I think it's totally unacceptable for a large company like Avis to tell me that they're not honoring reservations made in the last 24 hours. They also told me that they overbooked all the time. This is unacceptable and if this is the way you do business, you can keep your car rental business. I will never be back there again. By the way your manager was very rude and probably should be trained in customer service. Again this was at the New Orleans international airport. It's unacceptable for a person to show up six people six pieces of the luggage and being told that they're not gonna honor our reservation because they're overbooked. read more

6:45PM. 30 people in line and only 1 total worker at the ~-12 counter computers. Nice staffing Avis!

They did not have the three vans we rented for our church youth group when we arrived. We ended up with six SUV's after waiting for three full hours with 28 teenagers and adults. Six months later, we get a collections letter stating we owe $400 for a broken armrest. After four phone calls to Avis and the collection agency, they still can't tell me when the repair was done, who did the work, and why it took so long to contact us about the damage. I highly doubt their claim due to their lack of proof and the time it has taken them to follow-up on this matter. Overall, worst car rental experience I've ever had. Avoid renting from this Avis location. read more

Absolutely the worse car rental experience (with one caveat at the end). FYI, I've been an AVIS customer for 20+ years going back to the days when I was a "road warrior" and renting 1-2x/week. Back then, things were much better. I flew into MSY and went to go pick up my car in the Preferred Select area. I couldn't believe what I saw. The Chevy Malibu had a damaged front bumper from a collision. The passenger's side mirror was inoperative and the car was covered in scratches. I went back to the Preferred Select desk and said that I was refusing the car for safety reasons. The lady behind the desk got an attitude and told me that they were out of cars and that was all that was available. I went back to the car and then pulled up the Avis app on my phone and saw that I could book quite a few vehicles. I was pissed. I went back to the desk and there was another person working there. I showed her the photos of the damage and she said, "Wow. I cannot believe that car is on the lot. Let me help you. Here, your new car is in space C9". I thanked her, went to C9 and the new car was fine. I will never rent from AVIS at this location again. I suggest that you do not rent from this location either. read more

Avis, I have never in the past 7 years, felt so let down by you. especially on what was supposed to be a very happy occasion. I arrived for an 11:30am reservation and did not depart, with a vehicle, until 1:40pm, such a wait not only for myself, but for other guest that were more mature than myself was a bit hurtful to observe. Although the building engineer seemed more occupied with enforcing the line being correct than people waiting for hours to get vehicles. A very unfortunate event. Both Front desk/Preferred counter had a math of at least 10 to 15mins pending each situation. To top it off, the vehicle smelled like cannabis, as I got it, of course after sitting parked, until the next day at the hotel, it vented the order. Do the tardiness this situation cause, some of the events of the day were missed. I always have to look for win and in this case it was, I did get a car, because it looked like some guest did not. Until next time. Bye-Bye! read more

We rented a car for less than 24 hours. My husband and daughter went to a concert at the SKC. They returned the car with no issue. However we then received a charge for $450. for smoke in the vehicle and 'cleaning'. Noone in our family smokes and the car was left perfect! After calling to complain the charge was removed. This serves as warning to beware and check your cc charges. This was shady and I wonder if done often without people noticing? We use Avis all over the country and are preferred members. Never had this happen before except at Avis MSY. Very disappointed read more

Don't rent with this company. One of the worst experience I had with a car rental company. Waiting to get the car was way too long (45 min) The car was not the car we rented. We rented a small car for the city, we had a large SUV (they give us the number 420 to get our car, they give us the car number 402). The car was not in good condition (car was vibrating each time I hit the brakes). And the worst : the exact location to return the car was not indicated at all. We lost 1h driving in the area to find that the parking was at the 3rd or 4rd floor of a parking building. They were not sign at all to indicate that. Moreover I found that i was charged 18$ the day i returned the car and I don't even know why. @Avis I want you to explain me this, knowing that I returned the car without any damage and I cleaned the car. I have photos of the car the day i returned it. read more

Tried to rent a car for a week while our car was in the shop. Somehow start date on reservation was for the following day. We called customer service to attempt to correct reservation and huge communication barrier with customer service. Tried again and got another rep with less of a communication barrier. Attitude of both representatives were less than helpful nor nice. Finally resolved the issue (we wanted to pick car up at present time but they had it reserved for multiple hours away. They wanted to charge us a full additional day to pick it up 1.5 hours earlier rather than just adjust the return time at the end). Finally got the reservation fixed only to be met with Attitude and unhelpfulness at the counter picking up the vehicle. We haven't even received the service yet but I am making this poor review solely off of horrible customer service. We will not be using Avis in the future. Seems to be a systemic problem. read more

This was the worst experience that I could ever imagine. First off I went to check on my reservation and they pulled a soft credit check and then pulled two more AFTER the car was already rented and paid for. When I asked for a refund I was told because it was not 24 hours I couldn't get a refund. Here it is two months later and hours of phone calls and still nothing. I never received the car and just took our own personal truck and still got charged. I will NEVER choose Avis again after being a loyal customer for over 30 years I am finally done read more

Avis at Kenner is a complete Shit-show. Saturday morning, one person "helping" over 50 people. Waited 2 and a half hours to get a vehicle that was broken. Waiting another 15 minutes to get a second car that was broken. I should have cancelled my reservation, but drudged on. The staff are rude, the attendants run around like chickens with their heads cut off. They are complete disorganized and incompetent. It does not please me to offer this review. Rented a luxury SUV. Politely asked for a discount when they couldn't offer what was reserved, to at least what the normal rate of would be of what they were offering for the lower vehicle/ The response was horrific, thrown in with a few discriminatory comments, that anywhere would get you fired immediately. Avis unfortunately has not responded to my concerns, as no one in this world should be subjected to the "customer service" we were offered. Please note, they share their counter associate with a few other partner companies. I recommend you avoid them all. read more

Waited an hour for my car after it was assigned. While waiting for my car, a guy ahead of me was given one car and after getting in it, they told him the car had been sold. They brought him a second car, he got in it, and then they told him to get out because that one had been rented by an Uber driver. Finally managed to get him a car the third time. Staff clearly doesn't know what's going on. As a bonus, 3 weeks after I returned the car, I received a claim for $6,000 worth of damage that I allegedly caused to the vehicle. I returned the vehicle with no damage. After multiple phone calls and many minutes on hold, they conceded that the claim had been filed in error because they could see a mileage discrepancy between when I returned it and when damage occurred (5 miles later). The damage was likely caused by one of those clueless employees. Never again, MSY Avis. read more

Y'all suck! I have 2 contracts that shows my return date and time on my vehicle not only did y'all not reimburse me on the oil change that y'all told me to get on the Denali I rented but y'all checked in my car early and I didn't even drive it in the garage. What's the point of the contract? Then y'all had a system glitch. How is my car in collections when it wasn't due yet? No Avis could help me. Not even customer service. They all said go back to MSY Avis where your rented it. Only they can help. And y'all didn't help or fix it. Y'all sent me in circles. I always rent from budget and Avis but I'd rather pay and extra $50/day on a rental with a different company than ever use yall again. Y'all played with my time, my money, and violated the contract we had. Edit: Also i drove to GTR, TCL, MEM, and MSY (4 different AVIS in 4 different states!) and called customer service multiple times and none of y'all could help. read more

The reservation desk employees were very polite. The gentleman maybe could have spoken a little slower to understand what he was explaining. We managed okay. We were directed to the pick up area and waited 30 minutes. During the wait, two lady employees kindly helped us find out why our vehicle was taking so long. They ended up bringing us a different vehicle than we reserved. The replacement car was fine. It was still dirty though. We then waited about 10 minutes in a line to exit the facility. Again, the employee in the kiosk was very nice. Add an hour plus to your schedule to get a car from Avis. I rented a car from Avis and returned it the next day. They charged my card for the deposit and I was told that it would be automatically refunded to me when the car was returned. It wasn't. I then called customer service and was told they could not refund my card on file because my rental was over a week old and my case was closed. I said that was ridiculous, and I was THEN told that I could go buy a pre-paid VISA card and they would refund the deposit on that and give me $50 for my inconvenience. I told them that I would not do that and that was the most unprofessional business practice that I have heard of and it sounded fraudulent. Then I was told that they would mail me a check back and that I would receive it in 60-90 business days. I told them that I wanted to speak to a supervisor, and the person hung up on me. Never again Avis! I disputed the charge on my card. read more

Had a reservation (guaranteed) for New Orleans Airport last evening (10/26). Landed early, jumped on the airport shuttle and was dropped off at the rental car pickup location (which is 15 minutes away). No cars. No cars for Avis (or anyone for that matter). No communication to me and the other renters who supposedly had reservations, no communication by the shuttle bus drivers who were still dropping off people by the dozen as I sat there and contemplated how to get to Baton Rouge. Worst rental experience ever. One agent is handling Avis, Budget and Payless. No Preferred service, no going directly to the car. Over a dozen people in line, which is not moving. The line to get my car was quite long and took about 45 minutes. The car is self was as expected and very clean. The return process was very fast and easy. When I got to my terminal at the airport approximately 20 minutes after I drop the car off I realized I left my AirPods Pro in the rental car, my mistake shame on me. I attempted to call them immediately and could never get a human on the phone. I made a very detailed report online including a detailed description of exactly where they were located in the car. It took a few days but I just got a call and was told they will be mailing them to me tomorrow. Overall I was very satisfied. read more

What a terrible experience. We waited almost an hour for our car after it was assigned (we had a reservation). I arrived12:30 am because of delayed flight into MSY. I had also called AVIS telling them I would be late and they said no problem they were open to 2 am. I had reserved a small car 2 weeks in advance to use for 3 days. When I got to the counter they said they had no cars because they had overbooked. There was a written apology from the manager along with assurance that they would pay for Uber to take us to our lodging and back in the morning to pickup a car which they said they would have. There were 5 to 10 other people on my flight who also did not get a car. When I picked up the car they charged 199 more than my contract I guess because they provided a sports car which was all they had.
