Many dishes had multiple flavors and textures going on -often with an element of fish

A truly unique experience in St. Louis. My husband and I went for our anniversary and we're blown away by the family and the food. The night we went only seated four, and we had fun getting to know the other pair (business associates). Would highly recommend getting the beverage paring on this one - every pairing was smart and explained. Must be willing to try foods that make you uncomfortable! I've been to Japan twice and still didn't know some of these flavors. I was blown away. It was also my first time trying real wasabi and I loved it. Can't wait to go back. I love that a place this cool exists.

This meal was very memorable. I went with the three-course option and it was honestly the perfect amount of food. Freshness and flavor were at full display here. Bluefin otoro was the highlight -- probably the butteriest and tastiest piece of fish I'd ever had. I was also really impressed with their use of vegetables and how flavorful each piece was. One of my only major gripes was the fish variety. Like while the striped jack and salmon were good, I didn't need three pieces of it over each of the individual courses. I feel like the addition of more cuts of fish would've allowed for more highlights in the meal. I have to give the service here its own paragraph, because it simply cannot be understated. The setting is extremely intimate and the staff makes you feel welcomed from the moment you walk in. From all of the complimentary treats, to the sake sampling, the hospitality really did a lot to make this experience what it was. Favorite dishes: Otoro, yellowtail

Although I consider myself a foodie, I was not aware of the existence of this restaurant. Our friends made reservations on a Friday night for the 2nd seating. Everything was stupendous. I enjoyed every single course include some of the drinks that accompanied them. Unfortunately, I can't describe each course but my photos will tell you the details. The chef's son who described the courses was engaging and informative. I would recommend their omaka

Our multi-course set meal at Nobu's was a meditative experience on good food. With only two other dining parties at the time of our meal, the restaurant was so quiet and relaxing, and the meal was served at an unhurried pace, perfect for enjoying each thoughtfully designed course. The seafood was very fresh, and the service so patient and warm. Highly recommend this fine dining experience.

The best dining experience I have had in St. Louis. If you are wanting a one of a kind restaurant for a night out, then Nobu's is your place. The place is fairly intimate, as there are only a couple of tables set up for their two reservation times. You can't help but feel the 'hominess' of the whole restaurant as soon as you are warmly welcomed at the door. We ended up doing the four course omakase menu. I probably cannot recall any of the names of what I ate, but every bite was a hit on the taste and presentation. You can tell the fish was fresh and meticulously handled and prepared. If you are looking for omakase in STL, Nobu's needs to be at the top of the list.

Had an amazing experience here. Food, service, presentation and all aspects were masterfully crafted. I would absolutely come back. Quality of the food was great and the blends of flavor were well thought out. Intimate experience with the chef and his family in a close environment where you can feel like you're in the experience of making the food.

If you are ready for a true "experience" which includes outstanding Japanese cuisine then you are ready for this version of Nobu's! It had been a couple of years since we last visited Nobu's in North County, which was always our favorite place in St. Louis for sushi. Once I found they have moved to the Loop, changed their menu and approach I was excited to visit this new version of one of our favorites. Nobu's sushi was always top notch...and the same continues. But in this version, you get an intimate dining, Japanese cuisine and food art experience all in one visit. And the family are all still as friendly, humble and approachable as ever. We sat at the bar last night and had one of the most memorable dining experiences ever. The food was beautifully prepared, perfectly explained and a delicious. We selected the 3 course omakase experience and each added an additional course. These pictures can't do the flavor and beauty of each dish justice. And the sushi / fish were all melt in your mouth delicious. The works of art they put on your plates will blow your mind in beauty and flavor. And without a doubt, Taeko & Nobu are the most gracious hosts. We had delightful conversations during our dinner about the food, Nobu and Taeko's history, our families and our history visiting their restaurants. It was a very special night, thank you Nobu and family!

High quality Japanese selections, friendly and superior service, warm cozy atmosphere, wonderful smiley chefs! Highly recommended to support our local omakase!

First time trying omakase and we thought it was a wonderful experience. The location of the restaurant is on the side of the United Provisions. The restaurant itself is very cozy on the inside. The food is prepared in front of you and served in multiple rounds. Reservations are required and there are seats for 6 people at a time for a reservation block. There is street parking nearby as well as a small lot near the United Provisions, where we parked. We got the 6 course meal. In actuality, there were ~10 plus dishes of food. The size of each dish is small to moderate in size but the meal itself is quite the journey and very filling. Everything was delicious and was some of the best sushi we've had. Included, you receive a glass of wine and a small cup of sake. The menu rotates seasonally though so I am sure this may change depending on when you go. The chefs and servers were extremely nice and conversational and the whole experience was very intimate. On the whole one of the best dining experiences we've had and I would highly recommend it.

I have been a fan of Nobu's in St. Louis since their old location on Olive Blvd. The new location on Delmar Blvd. opened recently & is reservation ONLY (make sure to call ahead). For an establishment of this quality, it is to be expected that reservations are required. The ambiance of the new location is unparalleled. Everything is custom-made & has a sleek/classy feel. There is not another sushi restaurant in town that even comes close to this quality. Nobu San, the executive chef, was trained in Japan on proper techniques for preparing these courses. The food is the absolute best sushi & seafood you will find in the entire state of Missouri. Some of the seafood is imported directly from Japan. You can taste the difference in quality. Eating a meal here is a spiritual experience. It melts in your mouth & is 100% worth the price.

This is by far probably the best dining experience I have ever had. My partner and I booked reservations for the four course omakase a couple weeks ago and have been looking forward to this and it did not disappoint. Not only was the food wonderful, but the service was insanely good. We felt like we were the only people in the restaurant. Our waitress was so sweet, very informative, and attended to all of our needs. Another woman (I didn't catch her name) was attending to us as well. She was prompt at serving our tea and checking on us as well. We also met Chef Nobu and George who were preparing the sushi. They were so kind and even went so far to learn and remember our names and they threw in an extra piece of toro nigiri and liver from a red snapper to try. The omakase four course was also more like eight courses and I felt satisfied after the meal. We were served many dishes ranging from soup, nigiri, sashimi, maki, vegetables, and more. We ended our meal with matcha pudding (was more like a mousse) and clementines vegan vanilla bean ice cream with a side of red beans. It was delicious. The ice cream was insanely good but I wouldn't expect anything less from Clementine's! They also serve green tea from Big Heart Tea Co. so we ordered a pot. Delicious. Lastly we enjoyed hot sake and it was warm, comforting, and delicious. Can't wait to come back! You can't find this experience in many places. People dine not only for the delicious food, but the wonderful service and they succeeded in all aspects. It's no question Chef Nobu and his team value the art of sushi and providing a fantastic dining experience. Go here to be treated like royalty!

I tried to write a review when I went a month and a half ago but I have no idea how to add a business to Yelp. Thank god for this place because St Louis was really lacking in the omakase scene. I was feeling really discouraged with the amount of good food choices in the city as in next to none and then I went to dinner at Nobu's and I almost cried. It's on par with the mid to lower high end level omakases in Houston and that's saying a lot from me because I haven't been kind to the cuisine in STL and it hasn't been kind to me as far as quality and GI issues. Everyone was kind and mindful during the serve. The best part was the silence and just the purity of the food that was well seasoned and treated and tasty. It's my go to place to treat myself now.

We didn't get a choice and were sat at the bar. Ordering is done through the QR code and water is offered self-serve. We split an order of the appetizers: house cucumbers and karaage. I'm not a huge cucumber fan but I tried it. I preferred the one with miso as I found it to be more subtle in taste. The chicken was average and didn't wow me. We each got the chicken shoyu with no pork, no scallions and an extra egg. It felt like it took a long time to get our food. We were both surprised once we got it as we were expecting actual chicken pieces but after rereading the menu description, it was chicken oil. He was a bit disappointed as both our dishes were covered in scallions. I suggested we not send it back since it took quite a while to get our food and they were close to closing. Nevertheless, I found the broth to be tasty and full of flavor despite there being no meat. Overall, it was a solid first visit.

Some rolls are half off and so are a few beverages, like hot sake. I had never had hot sake. I've only had any sake once. I liked it fine, but I didn't want a second order after I finished the first. I was disappointed that Robata was out of plum wine. Instead I ordered what was described as a white sangria, but it tasted more like a brandy. I had a few sips and gave it to my friend. I had 4 vegetarian sushi rolls. Only the asparagus was included with happy hour. My 3 other rolls were takuan, pickle plum and BB. As much as I like plum (keep reading), and takuan was a pleasant surprise, and the asparagus was good, the BB, which has tempura asparagus, cream cheese, and sweet soy, was my favorite item of the evening. I was happy to see umeboshi onigiri on the lengthy menu. These were of a good size, but I think it perhaps would have benefitted from a higher pickled plum to rice ratio. (The only time I've had it has been from a food truck and I don't know how representative it is of onigiri.) Each order of food took a while to come out. My friend had trouble getting the server's attention when she wanted to put in more orders. Robata is not a place for a quick happy hour bite. It's going to take a while, especially if you're ordering in multiple rounds like we did. When the kitchen got too busy, my order another roll was denied. That happened well before dinner service ended and it was disappointing. I would have waited a bit longer. But it was probably good to get cut off from sushi at some point. We were a little confused by the bills. My friend may have overpaid (not gotten happy hour price) for some of her items, and there was some question about whether mine had been billed correctly, but in the end we decided that mine was probably correct. Hers, though... we aren't sure. I think I'll return to Robata for the BB roll, plum wine, and maybe something new, but I will be sure to have plenty of time, order a bunch all at once, and check the bill.

They aren't the best I've had, but I'll probably be back semi-regularly to get my fix of the flavor, which is just so unique. The flavor was flat and yet the Pad Thai was overly saucy. I saw people saying this restaurant it is authentic, speaking highly of the food, but they must be comparing it to other Thai-American spots because I just don't see it at least from the Pad Thai. Pad Thai should ideally have subtle cooked down flavors of tamarind and fish sauce, some complex sweetness from palm sugar, and subtle dried shrimp flavor as well. But here the flavor just was bland and uninteresting. Some redeeming qualities are that they had some dried shrimp on top, which is very rare in the US even in larger cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Seattle; the rice noodles themselves were cooked well (not over or undercooked); the bean sprouts looked fresh and clean; and the peanuts, chili powder, and lime coming separately was appreciated.
