The Boathouse at Collin Park Marina is one of my favorite summer spots on Lake Lavon! It's a…read moreseasonal restaurant (open from around Memorial Day through Labor Day) that sits directly on the water, which makes it perfect whether you're coming in by boat or driving in. Boaters can tie up at the on-the-water parking, and if you're arriving by land there's plenty of parking in the lot. The menu is casual but solid (fresh salads, juicy burgers, Nashville hot sandwiches, and a few other favorites). Family-owned and operated, and the service has always been friendly and laid-back, just like a good lake day should be. They also make it fun with karaoke nights and live music during the season, which adds to the atmosphere and makes it a great place to hang out with friends or family. And here's a cool bonus: once the lake season winds down, you can still support the family by visiting their Kadee Farm in Greenville, TX for the fall pumpkin patch or Christmas tree farm in the winter. If you're out at Lake Lavon, The Boathouse is definitely worth checking out: good food, fun vibes, and a true local gem. Be sure to follow them on Facebook to get the most accurate information about their hours.

To know: if you're going to the restaurant you don't have to pay day use fee at Lavon. $5 highnoons- we're already in. Deck seating was super comfortable, even midday in August. Food: mozzarella sticks- look I expected bar food. They were perfectly cooked! Not greasy. Not burnt. PERFECT. and they come with ranch AND marinara. Burger- just the way I like it. LTPO mayo and mustard, and this seems silly, but they put the mayo and mustard ON the burger, not in a cup/packet where you have to do it yourself. This was every burger I've been looking for in Dallas. No egg, no special sauce, no wierd ass extra stuff. A perfect burger. And the fries were great as well. Again, not greasy, well cooked. Not too thin, not to thick. The best part was Cailey (spelling?). She took amazing care of us. You can tell she really loves this spot. I know the feeling. Being a full time educator, having a job like this on the side is a break. As a nurse, I do the same. She told us all about the other businesses the owners have, the schedule, the upcoming events. I couldn't wait to get back to Dallas to tell our friends.

There is a certain energy in a restaurant when people trust it, and Creekside has that. We started with the crab and shrimp dip, which came out hot, creamy, and loaded with flavor. It is one of those appetizers that everyone at the table keeps going back to without even thinking about it. For dinner, we ordered the Red Snapper Alexander and the chicken cutlet parmesan, and this is where the night really took off. The red snapper was cooked perfectly, topped with sautéed shrimp in a white wine sauce that added flavor without overwhelming the fish. The balance was impressive, and the presentation matched what you would expect from a much higher priced restaurant. Then there was the chicken parmesan. As Italians, we do not say this lightly, but this dish stood out in a big way. Creekside blends Alfredo and marinara into a creamy, well-balanced sauce that takes a classic and elevates it. The chicken was lightly breaded, the mozzarella was fresh, and every bite delivered. We awarded this dish our Best of the Best for Chicken Parmesan, and that is something we reserve for dishes that truly separate themselves from the rest. Service was excellent throughout the night. Our server Erin was attentive, knowledgeable, and helped guide us to some great choices. One small note, the fish and chips did not quite match the level we had experienced on a previous visit. It was still good, just not at the same level we had come to expect. That said, it did not take away from what was otherwise a fantastic meal. If you are looking for a place that delivers an upscale feel without the upscale price tag, this is it. Great for date nights, family dinners, or just a night out where you want consistently good food.
