People who have given limited stars must be expecting an insane amount of luxury for a $25 manicure. What this place is: A high volume nail salon with technicians who are fast, good at what they do, and really friendly (if you don't show up with an attitude). What it is not: A luxury spa where you spend a fortune to get the same outcome. I have been going to Jackie for gel/shellac manicures for a about nine months and she is THE BEST!!! Great sense of humor, great skills, and really efficient. You can walk in or make an appointment (be prepared to wait a little past your appointment time on high volume days like Friday and Saturday), and although I've only seen Jackie, friends and family have done the walk in and seen a variety of technicians and all have had positive experiences. If your expectations are in line with what this place is about you're going to love it! And a note about concerns expressed by some other reviewers that the technicians are "talking to each other in another language and it's rude"...most of the employees speak Vietnamese as a first language. These (mostly) women work long hours staring at strangers' hands and feet yet keep a terrific attitude and obviously have fun together. NK is the only place I go to get my nails done. Not only is it fairly priced, but just about every person that works there is very kind and efficient. I typically see Tina, Jackie, or Mary. All three are fabulous - especially with almond & stiletto nail shapes, which is what I typically get. I don't know what all this negativity is about on these reviews, tbh. I haven't had a bad experience, and if something does go awry, they are always very quick to make it right with the customer. I've seen this first hand once with another patron who wasn't 100% satisfied. These people go above & beyond. The space itself is beautiful and clean. The waiting area is a bit small, but that's only ever a problem on busy days (mostly weekends). If you're looking for a quality nail salon - this is it! read more

At first I wasn't sure about this shop having had inconsistent service quality from some nail techs, but eventually I found the hidden gem in this shop. If you like acrylic full sets or dip powder nails, there is only one nail tech for you and her name is Mary. She's amazing! She takes pride in shaping your nails according to your wishes rather than the haphazard and careless method of some other techs and she never disappoints. She also has an accommodating attitude and great communication. I'm sure the other techs do a good job for basic manicures but again, I promise you that acrylic and dip powder needs should ONLY be handled by Mary. No. Never ever ever ever ever ever again. First and last experience with this horrible salon. i walk in and say I have an appt. Apparently there was some mix up and they thought I made an appointment with someone named Tina. No, my name is Tina, I say. I'm sat down at this Tina persons table and they keep going on and on about it in their language about the mix up. It was awkward and uncomfortable to keep hearing my name as they kept pointing at me. Tina asks me if someone referred me.. I say no, I called and made an appointment and told them my name is Tina when they asked me. She just says "oh", like she was annoyed I wasnt a referral. Cue more awkward uncomfortableness. The tables are uncomfortable. Most nail salons have the wrist pad for you to rest your wrists on while the nail tech does her thing with your hands. Not here.. it was not fun trying to hold my hand at the right angle while my elbow dangled in the air. I ask Tina to shape my nails with a stiletto shape. She says $5 extra. FOR A NAIL SHAPE? Who charges $5 to shape nails? Isn't the nail shape part of the process of getting your nails done? My nails were already almond shaped, taking them to stiletto would not take much effort. I thought maybe she was going to shape them by hand which might justify the extra cost... NOPE.. she pulled out the filing drill filed down the sides of my nails to a point and 1 minute later (if that)... stiletto shaped. No. that was not worth $5 NK... shame on you. The shape of my nails looked insane..short and fat with a point on them. They looked crazy. I asked if she could make them a bit smoother and a bit more slender looking and the ends slightly blunt so I don't scratch myself to death" She responds: "Later." But later never came. It was apparent this woman was trying to get me out of her chair as fast as she could. She tells me to go wash my hands. When I come back, she says - "Jenny is going to finish".. and walks away to another customer. No thanks for coming in, hope you like your nails, it was nice meeting you.. nothing. Jenny files my nails (again - why are you making my acrylics so thin???), She paints them, I pay and I go. I walk to my car, I get in my car. I put my purse in the passenger seat. I press the button to start my car.. I reach into my purse to retrieve my cell phone.. (mind you the only things in my purse are literally my cell phone, my wallet - which is the size of a coin purse and my house key) I pull my hand out of my purse......... MY THUMB NAIL IS BROKEN. I rarely break nails.. EVER! After I broke this nail in the most passive way ever, I made an appointment with my regular nail tech in downtown Seattle so he can fix my nails, sadly I have to wait until Tuesday :( This place is horrible, customer service is awful, if you'd like to feel as if you are cattle and are okay with a sub par nail experience and being charged for "extras" like the shape of your nails, by all means - go here. UPDATE: 5/29/17 - I awoke this morning to find another nail broken. I literally did nothing yesterday but take my car to get it washed and lounged the rest of the day. Went in for SNS. For reference I chose a classic red that, on the model nail, had no sparkles or any additions to the color. Got in a few minutes early for my appointment which was promising. The quality of work was sub par especially for the high price. It was busy in there but I felt like my manicure was rushed and there was no attention to detail. I had to ask the manicurist to shape my nails more than once. When I first finished drying my nails there was a dried air bubble that created a sharp point in the middle of my nail. They fixed it but the repair really doesn't look good and is still rough. The manicure it's self looks like there are fibers or fluffs sealed into the manicure. This was my first time going here - my friend who comes here regularly brought me here. I was really happy that a gel manicure was $25 and they had SO MANY gel polish colors! The selection was amazing, the only thing that would make it even better was if they had essie gel nail polish. It was cute that they offered a complimentary glass of wine, champagne, or beer (also had tea and soda). Hong was the one helping me with my gel manicure and she was really great. I couldn't decide which gel polish I wanted so she put one color on one nail so I could see the color out of the bottle, which I thought was very nice of her. She didn't rush cutting my cuticles so my fingers weren't ever cut or bleeding. She even put on a third coat of polish for me after I asked if I could have an extra coat since I'm so rough on my nails! First time I went to this place I got a regular manicure, which was a total disappointment. I could see the brush strokes on my nails, and when I pointed it out to the lady who was doing it she just looked at me and said I'm not done. Then she just added top coat which didn't really made a difference. It was late in the day so I thought they were just tired and ready to go home. I decided to take my girlfriends there to give it another try and to celebrate one of them! Well, the service was even worse than the first time. We all got deluxe pedicures, and they were far from being deluxe. "Spreading the mud evenly does not make it deluxe!" My friend was thrown the steaming towel on her legs without them even asking if it was too hot, they almost peeled off her skin when taking off her shellac too. Lady seemed pissed off and rushed to get the work done. My other friend was also extremely disappointed, not a single toe nail was polished correctly. Workers here are not very friendly at all! I have been going here for a while due to convenience, the atmosphere is very good and they offer you a complimentary drink with service. The reason I will no longer be going here is their service. Before I would consider myself a regular customer. When I was last there with my best friend we wanted to get a pedicure and and clean up (no color) on our hands. I actually kind of felt like I was in a sweatshop. I felt bad for the women working there. There was clearly an impetus to work quickly in order to get more people in chairs. The owner (male) projects a chauvinism I can't really describe. The words are: they really crank people through there. As far as the nail experience, they are fast so if you are in a hurry, go here. If you would like to relax and get a nice treatment, don't. My nails chipped within 2 days. I believe they use thinner in their polish due to the multiple bubbles in the paint. Also they do not take the time to push back the cuticles, they go right to the clipper and basically cut the skin behind the cuticle, so in 5 days you have peeling bloody fingers. :( I went because I was given a gift card and I will not be back. Wine and beer is a nice touch but also a gimmick. read more

I visit West Seattle Wellness for massage, and at my last appointment I misremembered my appointment time and arrived 45 minutes early. Womp womp. The good news? NK Nails is right next door and I was in dire need of a pedicure for an upcoming vacation. It was a bit awkward at first because I asked if anyone was available for a pedicure and was told yes, but then had to wait about ten minutes. I had time so it was okay, just a bit confusing. My actual pedicure was great and fairly expedient. The best part? There are free drinks! The person who did my nails in the beginning, always talked down about the other nail techs, just to make herself look better. After she left; I started seeing Mary. She does my nails perfectly EVERY TIME. She takes her time and makes sure I am happy before I leave. Now I drive 45 minutes to get there! That is what you do when you find the right fit. It is called "customer loyalty" & I am proud of it. For those of you who had a bad experience or two, I suggest having another person do your nails. The ladies at NK are very friendly, always offer you something to drink (which i think it a great touch) and they are quick too! Prices are excellent, and this is a big salon! A nail salon that gives you adult beverages?! Yes please! We set a 2pm appointment for 4 women. We didn't get seated until 2:20, and then waited another 15 minutes for our manicures to start. This didn't bother me because A. I was able to sip on champagne while I waited and B. I wasn't in a hurry. Pros: great job on nails. They have a nail guide at each table where you can choose your shape so there isn't any confusion. They offer you wine, champagne, soda, or light beer! The champagne is Cook's and it comes in a plastic wine glass, but for only a $15 manicure, that's a great deal! They have plenty of colors yo choose from! Cons: it did take a while to start, but it was a very busy Saturday and like I said, as long as I have bubbles in my hand, I'm happy:) I live for massages. Every other nail salon I go to usually gives me a good whole arm and neck massage but they only go up to your elbow here. You know what's not cool? Watching someone drop "sterilized" tools on the floor, look around to see if they see someone was looking and then put them in a basket for use. Oh, it's also not cool to have the worst customer service ever and a pedicure that flaked off after 2 days of light activity wearing only sandals. Even better? Going back a second time only to be treated even more rudely. I'm DONE with NK Nails. The first time I went was a kind of a disaster. My people and I had appointments, but like many Yelpers have said, there are 12,000 people herded like cattle in the worst chemical odor I've ever experienced at a mani/pedi place. We waited and watched people, who had no appointment, go in before us. Why even schedule? I'm glad we weren't a bridal party that would have been late or something. When we finally got in, we weren't even told "Sorry to keep you waiting." The person doing my mom's nails dropped "sterilized" equipment. Picked it up, walked away where she thought we couldn't see her, didn't bother to clean it, and then tried to use the instrument on my mom. Um, no. We demanded another set of instruments that they attempted to charge us for. YOU dropped it, not us. We should't have a health risk because of you. All 3 of us had a different person doing our pedis, and within 2 days, all 3 of us had nail polish flaking off. I've been to places that did a very thorough job before, and NK nails was stingy on pretty much every aspect of the pedicure. Today, I went back, and experienced overwhelming rudeness from their receptionist Hannah. Apparently, sorry isn't in their vocabulary. If you're looking for a place that does a great job, is always on top of it when it comes to keeping things clean, and want an easy, pleasurable experience, I strongly suggest you go elsewhere. read more

I went here for the first time because the location was super convenient, and they had great reviews. I had an AWESOME first visit--the guy was careful, funny, and my nails were exactly the way I mentioned liking them without having to go into detail. They were busy, but they still took me as a walk-in and I was super pleasantly surprised by the whole thing. I was sold. Today, however, I went and got Mary to do a fill. She seemed really put-off by the idea, and was giving me an attitude the whole time that I really didn't understand the reasoning behind. Two other customers actually commented on it when we were in the drying area. She maybe spent ten minutes--this is not an exaggeration whatsoever--doing the fill and paint. She bumped her hand into the polish at one point, gasped and glared at me, tugged my hand forward, and proceeded to 'fix' the mess with clear nail polish. This resulted in a lumpy finish that still hasn't dried and i've been home for twenty minutes. My nails are jagged underneath, crooked, and literally none of them are the same size or shape. It's kind of amazing how bad they are, to be honest. I'm really disappointed, because the first visit was so wonderful and the guy was so sweet. Mary really botched it and I wouldn't have tipped, except I felt it was likely that they pool and split tips as the last place I went to did and i'm sure her coworkers don't deserve that. This, and she pointed at the tip line while I was signing...bizarre. Not sure if i'll go back. Bummer. read more

Honestly by far the worse service I have ever had at a nail salon. I came in at 6:50 with my daughter. I asked for the prices for myself and she was rude but wanted to give it a try there to see if first impression weren't anything. I sat down with my 4 year old and she got her toes done and holy cow it was $20 for a 4 years old! I called earlier during the week and they told me $10. Anyways, as i continue to get my nails done, the nail lady was rushing me out talking about they're closing soon and to stop moving when they put my daughter out of my sight so of course, I was worried. She always kept telling me how tired she was and being a bit rough.. Secondly my toys are messed up, I said I'll come back tomorrow and get them fix but the lady just grabbed my food and fixed it there. She didn't take off the messed up part. She painted over it and that didn't fit it. Also my toe nail had white stuff on it. I'm very disappointed in the service I received and the fact that my $55 visit turned into $70 out of nowhere.
