Another CHOP SHOP in Burien. I came in to get my acrylic nails removed today and left with damaged natural nails that are still hurting me, to this second. Normally, most places cut your acrylics down and then soak you in acetone a bit to soften it up for removal. Not here! This woman cut down my nails and immediately began to DIG under my acrylics with a fake nail, trying to RIP them off of my natural nails. I told her multiple times no more and that it was hurting. Finally I said, "Please just soak them." Even after soaking them, she started using the sander / filing tool and dug that into my natural nail beds to where I felt a burn and saw my nails now have rips in them. I should've known this place was trash after I went here for a pedicure a few months ago and the guy doing my pedicure constantly yanked my foot and smacked it down when it wasn't going the right way. Not the best mani/pedi I've gotten but it did the job. I notice they don't unwrap any of the tools they use nor do they have an uv fans, it's just a regular fan. The manicure stations aren't as clean as the pedicure stations and the lighting in the waxing room is so low and I literally had to beg the lady to turn on the lamp for the eyebrow wax because I was afraid she couldn't see !!!! And then when I got home I had to finish plucking my eyebrows because she didn't get all of the hair! It's meh at best. read more

First time here, last time here. Appt was at 4, was "started" on around 4:30. Finally the lady continued with my nails at around 4:45, mind you it really wasn't that busy. I'm thinking they had a walk in and took them right before me not caring about the appt I made. I hate waiting too long for an APPT. I would like to point out how unprofessional the whole place is. I was NOT told I would be waiting. And they didn't even apologize. When finished I actually told the manicurist that I wasn't happy with my set because you can see the blotchiness of the yellow on my nails and the manicurist didn't do a good job of cleaning the excess polish on my skin. I'm aware it's a bright color but I'm also aware that if you were truly a professional and knew your nail polish is crap, that you would do a white coat first. There was little to no communication to me and even the owner admitted that my nail lady should have notified me of the nail polish results. They had the nerve to blame my brittle nails for the unevenness LIKE UMMMM ARENT YOU SUPPOSED TO SMOOTH MY NAILS OUT?????????? But she STILL charged me pretty much full price lol. I was ready to walk out but I can't do that. I wish I did tho. I ended up paying $30 for shellac and a few stones with apparently the the total was gonna be $40. (Shellac manicure $25, stones $10, if we're doing math that's $35, so they only took $5 off) Smh. I had good experiences here the first 2 times I came here with the same tech however the last 2 times were horrid! The time before last I had a tech who barely understood English at all and had me place my feet in ice cold water. No joke! I had to ask multiple times for warm water for my pedicure. Once someone finally stepped in and explained she scooped cold water out with a bowl instead of emptying the water and starting over. The water stayed warm after that for maybe 2 minutes. The quality of my pedicure and shellac manicure we're mediocre to say the least. However, that experience isn't as bad as it was this past Monday when I came in for a shellac manicure. I was put with a nice personable male tech but his nail skills were awful. Not only did he seem nervous from the get go he proceeded to put my hands in ice cold water for soaking. What is up with that here? I then explained I have shellac on and need my nails wrapped for removal. He then started panicking a little looking for one of those drill files used for acrylics. I told him I did not want him using that on my nails and to remove the shellac without. He started to remove my shellac very slowly in the traditional way of filing them manually but repeatedly filed the crap out of my cuticles. I told him many times he was hurting me but it kept happening. To make a long story short I endured way too much pain, wasted a lot of time, he broke two nails, then filed my nails super short, jagged and uneven. My nails were so damaged you can see tons of bumps in the shellac. Not only do my hands hurt they looked awful and were chipping within a few days of getting them done. I arrived at 5:45pm and was there till 7:30pm which is ridiculously long for a basic shellac manicure. I wasn't given time to pick out a color prior to sitting down, the tech has worked there for 2 weeks and said he had experience with nails in Texas but I find it hard to believe. I tipped him a few bucks because I felt bad for him and I think he was trying but the service itself was terrible. I paid to be tortured! Needless to say I won't be returning. I know the other employees heard me complaining but no one would step in and take over for him. I care way more about my nails looking good and not causing me pain than receiving fake friendly customer service. I would say this place lacks consistency and the quality of your nails REALLY depends what tech you get. DO NOT GO HERE! I was visiting from out of town for a wedding and I needed to get my nails filled. My cuticles were cut up and I was bleeding on several fingers. The nails are crooked and uneven. I always get sport short nails and they didn't file them down after growing out. My nails weren't "filled" there was no difference from when I went in to when I came out. Upon arrival I said I wanted regular nail polish. The gave me the ring of colors then once I picked them out, said they were gel colors. The have very few regular colors to choose from. I asked for sparkles on the tips of my nails and it was put all over the nail. She was very sloppy about painting then with cleaning it up with nail polish remover. A couple hours after getting them "filled" one was already lifting. My nail tech kept stopping to watch TV, taking phone calls, and would just stare off into space. She was rushing so she could leave as soon as I sat down for my nails to dry. It was a horrible experience. read more

I made an appointment for two pedicures and a full set yesterday and wasn't seen until about 330-345 since they were still helping others. I saw an older woman sitting around but I wasn't sure if she was a family friend or a worker. About ten mins after my feet are soaking she comes over and gets to it. The pedicure felt nice but the paint job she did was pretty bad. Felt rushed and you can definitely see. She also does my full set acrylics. This is where my two star review comes in. I wanted short, square/round with the same color as my toes. I feel like she did a lot of steps just to get the basic shape down, then did even more filing after she put the acrylic on, needles to say my fingers are HELLA sore and my cuticles are raggidy now.. while she was starting to rush the acrylic filing down, she missed and the filler WHIPPED around my finger(ouch) and onto the back of her hand, which made her look at me as if it was my fault? The length? They are not even the same on both hands (see photos) she had accidentally got a hair in my polish... A black fuzz hair, right in the middle, and once I said something, she started getting rough with my hands, almost yanking my fingers... I told her she hadn't gotten the hair out yet and Her brow was furrowed and it was obvious she was upset. Sorry? I'm just trying to have my nails look hella nice LIKE THEY DID THE FIRST TIME I WAS HERE. OVERALL, at first I LOVED this place.. But I definitely won't be back... They were nice but took literally over 2 hours on the simplest set I could have gotten and still didn't do them to my liking. I specifically said long thin and square and the only part she got right was long! My nails look so thick and chunky I have to find someone else to file and reshape them today SMFH! Made an appointment and came in but still had to wait. Someone asked me what color I wanted and sat me down but then disappeared to help another person so I waited again. Another woman started my fill after a while. I had a broken acrylic and she was really rough trying to take it of. I think I flinched so much she finally decided to just let it soak to come off. She was also very rough with the drill ( used really coarse drill bits) and burned and cut my cuticles . Paint job was kinda cruddy because I could the parts on the sides of my nails that were missing topcoat. It seems like a lot of people have had good experiences here but I won't be back , my fingers were so tender it hurt to wash my hands with hot water for a few days after. read more

I literally walked out of this place crying and I am very rarely an emotionally demonstrative person. Parking was frustratingly nonexistent and I probably should have realized by their limited polish selection that there was going to be a issue with the final results. I wanted a nice polish for the weekend so I showed the ladies a picture of exactly what I wanted and said if they couldn't do a chrome ombre I was fine with a glitter ombre. What I got didn't resemble an ombre in any way, there was no horizontal gradient, there was a clear demarcation of glitter - it looked like a child had tried to apply a glitter French. I tried to show them what I preferred with the picture and suggested maybe just fixing that atrocious glitter but they said they would redo it. The second time she put on the base color she didn't bother to even it out like she had the first time - it was a blotchy mess. At that point I asked her to stop because it was clear there was no way I would get decent results and I couldn't justify paying for something I hated. I did pay her for doing the solid color on my toes (which I later paid to have covered at Star Nails to coordinate with the phenomenal nails they did) and walked out in tears. read more

Okay so I've gone three times now. I have to say the owner is an awesome human being and works very hard. She is easy to talk to and is very talented with acrylics and design. She has two ladies that help her. The youngest one is still learning although she does a great job she does not have her routine down so the process and steps were a little out of place then what I'm used too. The other lady is a little older and very talented however she does not understand enough English so the owner keeps an eye and helps her often to ensure the client is happy which I thought was really great! I have to find a better way to communicate that I want fantastic design instead of just basic but that is on me for not speaking up because I have seen her do amazing fantastic designs and I don't think she is holding back but not aware I want more and glitter and sparkle. I will try next time. Pedicures are also awesome, be vocal with the young girl as she is learning the other is very skilled and knows to get those pesky nail edges. She is a busy shop but does not take on more clients then she can handle at once. It may appear that way for a moment but give her a minute and she will get you in the rotation quickly! I started going to Sugar Coats in October and have not regretted it since! They do quality fills and full sets, I am always pleased with my nail shop. They don't rush and try to get you out of the chair to move onto the next customer and they listen to what the client wants.
