A few friends and I stumbled on this place and the menu looked too good to pass up. It's within walking distance of several downtown hotels, so it's convenient if you're visiting Chicago. The building is surrounded by scaffolding, but don't let that put you off. They're open, and the food is excellent. We were seated quickly on a busy Saturday evening. The cucumber water at the table was a nice, refreshing touch. I ordered the hamachi crudo (phenomenal), chicken gyoza, and the tuna poke roll. Everything was great, though the rolls are very heavy on sauce, which can overwhelm the fish. Service was great, and the restaurant was clean and inviting. I would certainly return if I am ever in Chicago again.

Salmon Lover (18 Pcs Set)
Madi P.

I got the salmon lover plate that consisted of 18 total pieces with a combination of sashimi, nigiri, and rolls. It was all really good! I would say the seared salmon nigiri didn't really taste seared but more so just seasoned with smoky pepper. Still good, but I wouldn't think it was seared. Their sashimi is also really thick and I quite liked it! Our waitress was really nice as well. Inside is a chill vibe, nothing crazy, just simple and clean.

Orange chicken and Mongolian Beef

Orange chicken and Mongolian beef were both really good. Each dish comes with a side of rice which is nice to have. Chill service and ambiance too. Good for an after work dinner date.

The food was delicious everything was great...it was my first time here in Niu B and in Chicago. Worth the trip.

Carry out

Box Lunch Special. Carry Out. There were several main proteins to choose from. I ordered the Honey Sesame Chicken, thinking it was grilled, so it wasn't quite the option I would have chosen for myself, but it was still good. Plenty of food! Personally, I had enough for two meals. Everything tasted fresh, and I especially liked the fresh greens that came with it. Friendly staff, fast preparation, and the inside looked like a nice place to actually sit down and dine. Located on Michigan Ave. in the South Loop. Enjoy!

Vegetarian Maki (Vegan)

Stopped in here for lunch. Although the vegan sushi was just ok in terms of flavor and texture, I did appreciate the presentation, which included a teapot of soy sauce and individual saucers. The general tsao tofu was disappointing. It only had a couple chunks of vegetables, which were really big and undercooked. It got the job done, though, and kept me fueled through the afternoon.

Deluxe Chirashi

I only ordered takeout from here, so I cannot yet speak on the ambiance or service. I ordered a deluxe chirashi bowl, miso soup, and the crisp rock shrimp. The miso soup was packaged in styrofoam, but held its heat pretty well for the journey to my house. It was a bit saltier than usual miso soup for my taste, but still tasty. The rock shrimp was delicious - the crispy shrimp paired nicely with sweet, creaminess of the sauce. The deluxe chirashi bowl was delicious! Only $30 on DoorDash, which is a steal for raw fish like this. The salmon wasn't the best quality I've had, but they all still tasted fresh, succulent, and full of flavor. There's also a nice variety of fish in the bowl to make it worth it. I would give this place a 5, especially for the price, but nothing particularly wowed me. I would happily order from here again!

Scallion Pancakes

My friend and I hung out by the bar before the bears game playoff with the Rams . It was one chilly night in Chicago but the fans were cheering and upbeat . Our server Benz made me a couple of old fashioneds the first was with a Japanese whiskey which I didn't care for the second. Was my usual bourbon which made me all buzzed and happy . The scallion pancakes were ok..The truffle sauce for the fries was exceptional, for a person who doesn't eat fires I ordered another one .

Located just a little over 5 minutes from the convention center, it was an easy location to pick for lunch. This is their second location, have heard about Niu before and was glad to be able to pay a visit, and was not disappointed. Service was fast and effiecient, which was much appreciated due to limited time availability. The order consisted of: Fried rice : $14 - very good espcially with the sauce Vegetarian Gyoza- pan fried steamed vegetarian dumplings $ 8 hot and yummy Fried Vegetarian Spring Rolls - which came with a filling of cabbage, edamame, carrots, mushrooms and sweet chilli sauce. A different blend from the spring rolls I eat normally. Really good. - $9 Btw, if you need without egg, you need to specify at the start of the order. They do have a lunch special Bento Box for $16 which is a very good deal and the meal is just enough for a person, not too much, not too less. Its very neat and tidy, an ambience perfect for a formal occassion. Nice experiance.

Chirashi bowl: yellowtail, salmon and tuna. (*This is not how the dish usually comes.) Share! It is plentiful!

Not a bad spot. It was one of the few places open on Christmas eve. The staff were friendly and location, prime. We ordered spicy ramen, yellowtail, garlic edamame, seaweed salad, a Japanese whisky cocktail and a glass of wine. We didnt order anything out of the ordinary or too complicated. We just wanted something simple, easy, and close to home.

I contacted Nui B ahead of time. They prepared and served dinner for 50 people. The staff was so accommodating and the food was fantastic! Every single person was happy, quite a feat! I would recommend Nui B to anyone who asked!!

A friend and I were craving asian food, and Niu B was one of the top recommendations according to yelp. And i must say, they did not dissapoint. They were crowded, but we must have came just in time as we got what seemed like the last table there. If you're a type of person to not like sitting close to people, you might as well get over that phobia. The seating isn't claustrophobic, but you definitely be able to hear the other tables' laughter and gossip. Think cheesecake factory small table seating if you've ever been there. Our server was very nice and familiar with the menu which is nice when trying something new. I opted for the wonton soup (of which i ordered 2 servings, since one only came with 3 dumplings) and edamame as an appetizer. The edamame was sooo good. Seasoned to perfection. And the wonton soup was nice. The broth could have used a little more seasoning, but soy sauce did the trick quick. It has a somewhat nutty flavor to it, which was kind of nice. Overall apps would get a 10/10 from me. And they also weren't too shabby with the pricing. Considering most places in Chicago that I visited seemed to be overpriced, this was right up my ally. For dinner I was torn. There was so much on the menu, which for me, is sometimes overwhelming. So i just decided to get a simple roll. it was good, nothing fancy, and a little on the small side in my opinion, but overall i'd definitely recommend this place.

Karaage Chicken Ramen
Taylor V.

Food was good I had chicken ramen and it was fantastic. The other person had the kung pow chicken and said it was simply "okay" The service is pretty good. Heads up an extra side of rice is 3$ and they also charge a restaurant surcharge for anything added on the check which was a bit surprising. Restaurant is quiet and clean

Ramen Wasabi will always have me at a chokehold. Probably by far the best ramen spot in Chicago,…read moreand that is saying a lot since I've been to many different ramen restaurants in the city. Ramen Wasabi has no reservations. The wait times vary, but sometimes there are seats readily available. There are bar seats available and a large middle table that you share with other parties. Plenty to share with friends and the togarashi mayo dip is super delicious with it. Juicy bites with crispy batter, making everything about this appetizer perfect. Signature Tonkotsu (with Spice Umami): the noodles are sooo bouncy. I love how rich the broth is and how easy it is to bite into the Char Siu. It is so filling and honestly reminds me of my time in Japan. Tokyo Classic Shoyu (with Spice Umami): lighter broth compared to the tonkotsu, but just as delicious. This is another must-try! Excellent the Wagyu beef was delicious probably the best Wagyu I've ever had in my life. It was sliced thin. I wish they gave me more. My noodles were perfect and thin. Base of the broth wasn't too strong it did have that creamy factor to it. The green onions and the bamboo shoots added a savory crunch. My boyfriend ordered the shoyu Wagyu beef Ramen it's a clear broth based Ramen. Very aromatically satisfying. He enjoyed his dish. For drinks we got the ginger lemonade that one was delicious! And a blueberry lemonade. It was OK. Our total was $52. Pretty typical for a Ramen spot. The ambience reminds you of Japan! The seating is very intimate. This is a unique ramen spot that specializes in beef-ramen! You don't find many spots like that,…read moresince many ramen shops tend to have pork broth or char siu (pork). We didn't come in with a reservation, but were seated very quickly (within 10 mins) at the bar. It was very cool to be able to watch the chefs cook up your ramen while you were seated! It has a fairly dark and intimate dining area, making it a great place for a date night. The Shoyu Plus had a unique depth to its broth, with delicious flavors within each bite. Something that I noticed was that it had a lighter broth compared to your traditional tonkotsu (pork broth) ramen. The Miso Wagyu is a smaller version of the Monster Ramen (their specialty). This was a decent size with again, lots of flavor. The broth was a little thicker (not too thick, but due to the miso). But it was just as good as the Shoyu Plus. If I had to choose between the two, I really liked the Shoyu Plus. But if it's your first time, try their speciality! Good depth in their broths, and an amazing place for those who cannot eat pork to still enjoy ramen here

I was skeptical when I first heard the name Monster Ramen. All my previous personal experiences…read morehave always proven to me that restaurants with names that don't represent their culture in distinct ways are generally subpar. For example, I would usually never even think to step into a restaurant named Best China House, Sushi Bistro, or Mom's Korean Restaurant. (Apologies if your shops are named as such. These were meant to be generic examples) Oh, how times have changed. I would have never thought having a bowl of ramen at a Monster Ramen would give me this much pleasure. Part of it will (in fact, most of it) be on me and my general philosophy on fusion cuisine and outdated gemerational gap. There was definitely a time when avoiding agorementioned type of restaurants may have been deemed smart. But I feel the new generation of restaurant owners and chefs have up'd their games in not only at better food making, but also accepting of a bit more irony. Anyone who knows me knows how much I stay away from trying anything "fusion." It's kinda funny to myself how hypocritical it is that I would be totally okay in substituting an ingredient or two when I'm missing some when cooking, but when it comes to paying money to sit and eat that I would judge chefs by thier style of cooking. Yes, a big part of it is based on a large pool of personally gathered data, but I do acknowledge that I need to open myself up a bit more. Case in point. I was recommended MR by a fellow Yelper and I decided to give it a whirl. I happened to have a friend and his son with me, so I was able to do small tastings of 3 different ramen. And boy, was I pleasantly surprised. We collectively had bowls of shio, shoyu and miso specials. Plus, I ended up getting the Summer Special bowl to go for my wife. All of them had their individual charm to them but more importantly, each of them were made to perfection when it came to broth seasoning and noodle texture, which are THE two most important aspect of ramen, in my opionion. Not too salty nor bland soup. Perfectly dense noodles. I just loved all four! It wad when I tasted the yuzu in tgeir shio ramen that my wife would love it. Even though I brought her the spicy Sunmer version home, I still think it'll be worth bringing her and our daughter back when we get a chance to. Our server Dionne (I think) was most pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great, too. It helped that I came before the dinner rush, although, I can also see more lively vibe being nice as well. Will be back with the fam definitely!
