As a vertically challenged individual, when I arrived in Richmond I was at a disadvantage, as I had nowhere to get alternations done... Until I found Nittaya's. Recommended by a friend who lives in Short Pump, Nittaya's focuses mainly on alterations, though they do have a bunch of really unique gowns for prom, weddings, and other special events. There are several women seamstresses in the store, all with Russian accents... and all very professional and good at what they do. What I like best about them is that they can do the harder alterations, not just simple hems. One bridesmaid dress I had needed to be taken up, and the seamstress working with me recommended taking it up from the seam at the waist, not just cutting the hem at the bottom. It turned out much better that way... she also was able to work on the top half of the dress (which was pleated, unfortunately) to make it a little less atrocious. Overall, she worked magic on a bridesmaids dress and took it from unfortunate to acceptable. They also do fittings, to ensure that the alterations come out right. After I tried on the dress and talked with the seamstress about what it needed, I went back the following week, tried it on after it was altered, and she made a few more alterations based on the fit. Overall, it took two weeks, but I got a phenomenal result. I wouldn't hesitate to bring a wedding dress here, as I think these ladies do an amazing job, and have a good eye for fit. However, alterations like that come at a price, and it can easily cost a fortune to have clothing altered here. That bridesmaids dress cost me $110 to have altered, by the time all was said and done. So I would recommend them for larger projects, not just a simple hem. When I did get a simple hem done here for another wedding, it ran me $50. read more

I have to say that after dropping off my wedding gown I looked Nittaya's up on here and was very nervous all week. I went in on Saturday morning, and she had taken my dress (which I got from Jingle and the alterations were not going well - hence why I ended up at Nittaya's) and seriously made it amazing! I was having trouble keeping the strapless dress up and after alterations at Jingle, it just kept getting tighter and tighter and was smashing my boobs (making me look very fat) and was still falling down since my boobs can not hold up an entire dress. In the end - Nittaya fixed everything. She balances out the bustle, which was crooked and not measured out correctly, she deepened the Sweetheart which made me look less broad, she let out the top so that I could breathe, she added a ton of boning and extended it down further in the dress so that it held the whole thing in place and also took the very bottom of my waist in by 3 inches. Also, my wedding is on Oct 11th and she did all of this on Oct 4th. She definitely has a great gift and a huge heart. The dress is PERFECT now. It doesn't move when I walk or fall down. It isn't suffocating and I don't look fat. Also, she was extremely inexpensive and I only paid 100 for her to fix the entire dress. I wish that I could post pictures of it on here. I am very picky and a Type A, event planner and Nittaya worked magic :) She also fixed one of my bridesmaids dresses in about 3 hours adding about 5 inches total to the dress so that she could zip it comfortably. They really freaked me out at first as really look up reviews before using and I am so glad that I did not see them before going there or I would have lost an amazing opportunity to have the perfect dress. read more

Their service was not very good. I took my dress in 4 weeks prior to my event for a simple hem and adding sleeves (I don't wear sleeveless so it is challenging to find a dress where I can add sleeves). I told them what I wanted and specifically did not want cap sleeves, but something longer. When I got it back, it was cap sleeves, even though the lady told me it was doable. They didn't have it ready until almost 5 pm Friday when I needed it for the following Saturday. Also, the hem was too long even though I had taken the shoes I had planned to wear with me. I have also never been asked to pay in full at the time of dropping off my clothes for alteration (I usually pay half up front and the other half when I pick up). I've had 4 things done by them from a Hem to Cuffs on Pants to adding belt loops to pants. She specializes on wedding dresses but her general tailoring is good. My Grandfather was a tailor and I'm not bragging but I do have a decent eye for good work. The tailoring she did for me was good work and only a week turn around on everything. read more

Very disappointed. I made an appointment to get a bridesmaid dress fitted, when I arrived at my designated time, there was no one there! It seems like I came during their lunch hour, according to their closed sign. So I came back an hour later and waited around for another fifteen minutes and still the door remained locked. As a former employee for the wedding shop she works with AND a former bridal client I HIGHLY recommend you avoid this woman's shop with haste. Not only have I seen 100's of brides walk away with ruined or unfinished dresses but I walked away 3 days before my wedding with a stained, UN finished dress. I had to lift my dress in order to walk down the isle. I removed to the best of my abilities the stains. Needless to say this put a huge damper on my day. read more

I would never go back to them. They have no concept of customer service. I dropped four pants which needed to be shortened and they new I needed them as Zi was flying out of the country. I went there at 4:30pm to pick up but they decided to voles earlier than their normal time of 6pm. No courtesy of calling or notifying me. Had to buy few new pants at the last minute. As it turns out, my daughter was flying out to join us three days later but they were not able to get them ready even for her. Finally picked them up 10 days later. These people "altered" my wedding dress. I bought the dress too large so that it could be taken in where needed. They made it so tight I could barely breathe. I asked them to fix it and was basically told no. They couldn't fix it. Very uncomfortable on my wedding day. I would never use them. read more

I called 2 days before the date I was suppose to pick up my wedding gown and she said ok thats fine. Walked in on a Monday when I was suppose to pick up my dress and she told me to come back Sun. basically an additional week later. She said its prom season and I asked what does that have to do with my dress. Then she said we had an emergency. I said why didn't you nform me before I came in. It just seemed like she had all the excuses and that was just unacceptable. So when went back and forth arguing over my dress. Then she told me I do it now. I sat there and waited for about an hr, then tried it on. The dress wasn't even fixed yet. Not only that there were beading dropping off my dress and I trying to figure out what she did. There was also a stain on the dress. Luckily I had enough time so I gave her another week and told her she better have my dress ready. I wish I could rate with 0 stars. Altered my dress horribly. After relaying my dissatisfaction with the way it was altered, I was assured that my dress would be returned back to its original form. After a month of waiting, I returned to pick it up, only to find nothing had been done. My dress was completely ruined. Will never return. read more

I recently asked Nittaya to perform some wedding gown alterations. ( I bought my actual gown from an upscale boutique while vacationing in Charleston and couldn't afford to return just for alterations.) Her business is run so poorly. Her employees wll complain to you in regards to how irresponsible and inefficient she is, and you will soon discover why on your own! I had several fittings and each time, the dress wasn't ready - I always had to come back. She lost a jeweled brooch that was on my dress - just lost it and when confronted, acted as if I was making it up! My mom and I were shocked to see such poor customer service. I thought maybe my experience was unique, but on one occasion, there was a girl in the store trying to pick up a bridesmaid gown for a wedding she was in that weekend. Nittaya hadn't touched it - zero alterations! She asked her to come back another time and the girl replied that she had left work early and the wedding was in a few days. This lady will charm you with her words - it will be great, this will be perfect, etc. and then do absolutely nothing on time, inconvenience you and leave you paying for poor service read more

Steer clear at all costs. Took a bridesmaid dress to be "hemmed", prepaid for work, but when I picked it up I noticed they only "cut" off the bottom. The owner said she would "fix" it but then the dress would be too short. I then asked for a refund and they refused. BUYER BEWARE!!! read more
