I will say that this Puritan has more or less the same wait times as the others. You can get your clothes dry cleaned very quickly and it comes out great. The customer service could be improved my just a little bit. They aren't bad people nor are they rude. It's more about just reading the situation. Example: I picked up my suits, and other items (a lot of things) and they told me the don't add the plastic straighteners that go on the collard. Not a big deal, but if you see someone with their hands completely full, you would think to just get some for the person real quick. Additionally, I recommend they invest on getting some kind of cart rack. I had to struggle to get them all out to my car and one of those would have made the experience all the better read more

We've had minor incidents over the years with this dry cleaner but none of them were significant enough to do anything about nor invest time into looking for an alternative. They were just the closet one. Recently we had a piece of chocolate melt on a pillow. We took it to them to clean, and it came back enough shades lighter that we have to throw it away. It appeared they used bleach or some kind of heavy duty solvent. It's ruined and no longer matches the other 3. They didn't make an effort to tell us it couldn't be cleaned or turn us away initially. We take our special / valuable clothes to a place like this because we trust them to clean things correctly, every time. They don't hit that bar often enough for our family any longer. I called to see how much 4 items would cost to get dry cleaned. They quoted me $4 per shirt and $18 for a romper or dress. So I took my items and when I picked them up the total was $70. They charged me $10.98 for a shirt and $19.96 for the other three items. I was not happy and will not be using them again read more

Took in a vintage Pendleton wool shirt along with a cashmere sweater. Wanted the sweater repaired and the shirt dry cleaned. When I checked on the shirt after a few days of wondering I found out they lost the shirt and didn't repair the sweater. Never told me about either until I asked. Apparently, they checked both garments in as repairs. Branch blamed the main production plant and vice versa for losing the shirt. Called corporate and was ignored. Called branch and told shirt was coming there at 5 pm yesterday. Got there at 6 pm and no shirt and production still says they never got it. Blame game continues. If you want to join in on this circus, grab your clown makeup and sign up. I'll let you know if the shirt ever reappears. I rescued the sweater. I much prefer the location on Midlo Turnpike to this one but still receive good results here. The staff isn't quite as friendly and efficient at this location and on many occasions I've noticed my clothes not being cleaned appropriately or fully. Also, when I inquired about delivery and pick up services, I wasn't offered much help besides to call the guy who drives the truck... is this standard protocol? Seems odd. One bad experience after another. My items garments lost, taking forever to recover & when I returned a shirt that wasn't mine, I got charged again for cleaning it & to this day I get reminders to pick it up, when I had delivery service only. I've made many calls, received a lot of promises & never, ever was my order handled properly. I called & asked them to delete from their database & obviously that didn't happen either. BEWARE! Extremely disappointed with the customer service at this Puritan Cleaners. I dropped of multiple blouses and a sweater and asked for a rough estimate, I was given the $35-$40 range for what I had dropped off but they did not have a price list. Upon picking my items up it was $69 total for the items which is absolutely outrageous. I called when I got home as there was no receipt attached and I was curious about the itemization. I have been a Short Pump customer for many years. Recently I have had to rewash 3 sweaters that had a chemical smell and caused a rash around my neck. A sweater jacket that can only be dry cleaned had to be hung for 3 weeks in a bathroom for the same smell dissipated. Yesterday the line blouse was washed, the collar was not pressed, and none of the buttons were done so that it hung precariously on the hanger. I have paid high prices for all of these items (even yesterday), and I am going to have to find a new cleaners. The manager (in a previous visit) did tell me that the smell was also in her pants and a customer's comforter that was ruined. Yet the "plant" denied making any changes. Sigh. I have used Puritan cleaners at different times and locations throughout the city.. This is now the closest one to me and by far, the best customer service oriented one for me. They greet all with a smile and a kind word. Even if they don't initially remember me by name, the welcome is sincere and not forced. Today I went in and out Tyler went the extra mile for me, offering solutions to a pricing issue. Who does that today??? Taking the extra time to recognize me as a valued customer and assisting in a major way! I didn't get the name of the other two associates but their smiles and genuine conversation was a wonderful ending to a tiresome day. Whatever training was given to this staff, at this location, should be implemented company wide. I truly appreciate the kindness extended to me. She was so thorough and took her time to assess where the problem areas were and discuss options with me regarding a speedy solution. Her honesty about what was possible given the dress material, previous alterations, and my tight timeline was incredible and I could not be happier with the entire interaction and end result. I am a regular customer. I always get great, personal service. The "in by 9 back by 5" M-Sat service is helpful. Convenient Sunday drop off and pick up hours as well. When I moved to Richmond, I figured there were good reasons to use the dry cleaning company with the most locations. Surely that meant more service options and a streamlined system for returning your clothes to you. What it actually means is less care taken and more room for error. Every time I've taken my cleaning to Puritan (not just this location), they've done something wrong. Twice, they've sent my dress shirts to the wrong store for pickup (I thought they didn't send laundered shirts out?). Another couple times, I needed alterations, but they didn't complete the work. Most recently, I took in a stiff-fronted dress shirt, which mimics the look of a starched shirt but without the need for starch, and they FOLDED it, despite the fact that they have my preference for dress shirts in the computer as 'put on a hanger.' What kind of person who works with clothes all day takes a starched-feeling shirt and folds it? Who are these people who even fold their dress shirts? If someone starts folding a dress shirt, why don't they say, "this is unusual, and it certainly doesn't feel right---maybe I should check their file again for their preferences." I didn't have time to look at the job when I picked it up, so when I got home and saw that the shirt was unwearable, I thought maybe *I* had messed up and called to confirm they had my preferences right. They did. They offered to redo it if I brought it back in (I've had to bring articles back for redos more than a few times). However, I was on my way out of town, and I needed the shirt when I get back into town. They weren't understanding why I couldn't just come right back (I suppose I could've been more clear that when I said I could come Tuesday, I meant a week from Tuesday). Still, what's the point of next day cleaning services, if I need redos half the time? I'm a musician, and how I present myself is of utmost importance. But I'm exhausted from wondering if my next cleaning order is going to be mishandled. I'm still debating whether I'm going to take them up on the redo---I've already ordered a new shirt to come while I'm gone, which straight out of the packaging will already look better than the weird folding job they did. Look, if your cleaning needs are standard fare (suits, coats, sweaters, etc.), you'll probably be fine. The convenience of their locations is certainly worth considering. But what comes with convenience? Fast food restaurants may be convenient, but they're not exactly good quality and they're also known to mess up. read more

First and LAST time here. First of all, they are insanely overpriced. Granted, I brought a lot of items, but I've had that amount cleaned at other places for way less. Second, when I picked up my things, they said one of my tops - a summer favorite I was having cleaned so I could wear it soon - was not ready. There was a "quality control" issue, is what the guy said. They said it'd be ready the next day and I said fine. If there was a problem, they would have told me, I thought. I got home from work today and my husband said the cleaners had left him a voicemail (his # is the one in the computer there, since this was my first time going I just used his number that was already in the system). The message said my top had been damaged. They could either try to hem it (but he said it would be a hem right in the middle of the shirt, and probably wouldn't look right) or I could file a claim and they could give me money to replace it. The thing is, I bought that off a website a couple of years ago - it's not available anymore. So no matter what they give me, I'm SOL. This is what gets me. The message also stated that a trainee had put the ticket on the top and had done it wrong. That led to the damage. The top was obviously fragile material - why let a trainee handle it on his/her own? How many other things have been damaged due to this trainee's lack of experience and lack of proper supervision? I'm really bummed about losing this top. Edit: I went in today to check on the item that was damaged. The damage was widely exaggerated and it can certainly be saved. I was just going to take it but the manager offered to see if the tailor could put a patch over the mark so we're going to see if that works. I appreciate them doing that. read more

Puritan talks about taking care of all your dry cleaning needs. But take a set of drapes (I have had drapes cleaned there for years) and you'll get "we don't do drapes". They suggest a cleaner for drapes that destroyed my drapes which led me to Puritan in the first place. This company has changed...a lot...and not for the better. Definitely not worth the money they charge. Avoid this cleaner or at least this location. Been trying to give them the benefit of the doubt for a couple of weeks but today I am done. First they lost a shirt and three weeks later still no resolution. I have the ticket that shows 18 items turned in and they returned 17. Had an employee tell me that they must have miscounted on my ticket,implying they didn't have the shirt. But somehow I received a little found item bag with the rest of the clothes that had the cuff links off that shirt. I've dealt with three separate employees about this and the one today said their was nothing in my account about a lost shirt. Then today I get my clothes back and my shirts are on hangers. I travel a lot so I always get them folded, never on hangers. Again another employee says that there are no preferences on your account. All the while another female employee is side eyeing me, not sure if about the situation or because I was calmingly expressing my frustration with the situation. read more

I could take advantage of the pick-up/delivery option, but it is such a pleasant experience going in to the store that I actually prefer making the stop. This cleaner is expensive but my clothes came back clean! This is the second dry cleaner I tried in my area on the far West End and although I paid over $30 to clean a trench coat and a dress, I will likely return to Puritan. The service was friendly and I got my clothes back the next day. My trench coat had a grease stain near one of the pockets and they were able to clean it up. Both my jacket and my dress were cleaned very well and neatly pressed when I picked them up - so much better than the other cleaner I used! read more

Picked up some dress shirts and a quilt that had a stain on it was very pleased with the shirts and Stain out of the quilt. Puritan does a good job. I think the prices are very reasonable for what you get ,you can try someplace that is cheaper but they may not do as well. read more

I am headed out of town today as of 1 and had completely forgot about it as I had just put my suit and some dress shirts in the cleaners.... I called to advise and see if anyway they could either stop the process or complete the cleaning and have it by 1 pm Friday (Do note I had put it in after 5 pm on Thursday) not only was he able to get it done but he handled it very professionally . 5 stars in my book Chris I hope management there sees what you bring to the table with going the extra mile and taking care of your customers. read more

Using their priority bag is seems very convenient, but in my experience it just leads to disaster. I know Puritan handles a lot of volume, and they clearly have a system in place to process it all and get it back to the right spot. But there are some pretty glaring holes in that process. I don't know if I'm just the lucky one that keeps finding the holes, or if my experience is common. But I've learned my lesson and will not use their services again. The first time I used the priority service, I picked up the clothing and the Priority bag. But they had given me someone else's bag. Which meant that the next time i dropped clothes off in the bag, they were processed through someone else's account. It took them several days to track down the "lost" bag, which had over half of my husband's work clothing. In the end, no harm no foul... as long as it's an isolated incident. It wasn't. The second time, I dropped off a load of clothes (again using the priority bag), including a sport coat. I picked them up the following day and went home. Later that week, we realized the sport coat was missing. After many failed attempts to recover the jacket, with no returned calls of any kind, I gave up on the coat as lost. I've still never received any communication or compensation for the jacket. After that incident I stopped using them, but I was in a pinch when we had a last minute job interview pop up. I needed the guaranteed same day service, so I dropped my husband's suit off the morning at 8:00. I didn't use the bag this time since that had proven risky. I handed the suit to the guy working the register, and confirmed with him that it would be ready that evening. I showed up at 5:00 that afternoon, and they couldn't find his suit jacket. After about 30 minutes of arguing with the guy at the counter that tomorrow wasn't going to work, I finally found someone there that was willing to do whatever it took to find the jacket. It turned out that the person that normally cleans jackets was sick that day, so they sent the jacket back to their HQ in Willow Lawn. Off we go! I followed the lady over to that location and waited while she hunted for the jacket. And I waited. And waited. In total, I spent 3 hours waiting and arguing with them about this damn jacket. On several occasions they offered to reimburse me, and suggested that I just go buy a new suit. That would have been a reasonable solution if I hadn't needed the clothing the next morning. Buying a suit off the rack is not a reasonable option for a professional job interview. In the end , they found the jacket, and for my time, trouble and stress they acted all magnanimous about their decision not to charge me! Like this is some grand prize, not being charged the $10 or whatever for 1 suit. read more
