Wow, I can already say by my first visit that I like the service and ice cream Nirvanaah! had provided. I ordered the Mango and English Toffee ice cream. Relatively inexpensive ice cream provided by a very friendly and informative employee. Unfortunately, due to the composition of the English Toffee ice cream, it melted by the time I got home and created an ocean of itself surrounding the floating mango scoop. When I got to Nirvanaah I saw lots of different flavors like strawberry and English toffee.Not a long line even in the middle of the day. The staff were very polite and helped us out with any of our needs with out making a big deal or complaining. Lastly, it's time to judge the ice cream. The serving size was rather stingy-- nearly $4 for literally one golf ball size of an ice cream scoop. I walk in and instantly I know they place is very dirty. They have the milk that they make the milksakes outside. Not your traditional ice cream parlor. If you are looking for unique flavors, this place appeared to have a large variety to select from. The problem was there weren't any labels describing the flavors and the two men working there couldn't describe the flavors either. So I sampled several while avoiding the ones that were clearly freezer burnt. In the end I picked the mawa kulfi, but ended up not finishing it because I wasn't all that wowed over by it. read more

I almost walked out of here because there wasn't anyone at the counter and I waited a good 7-10 minutes. As soon as I was walking away a guy showed up. I ordered the Black Currant Magic Sundae, which was pretty good. However, the service was really crappy and the store seemed messy. We have been ardent fans on Nirvanaah ice cream for years but things have gone down hill recently. Not sure if the ingredients or recipe has been changed, but the ice cream just doesn't taste what it used to. I tried the paan ice cream recently and the flavor was very different, a friend brought over a pint of chikoo and the taste was absolutely bland. This review will reflect on my visit of 6/8/2012. I saw the big, giant banner that said "grand opening" and wanted to check it out with my cousins after watching the new Prometheus movie. When my cousins and I entered the establishment, it felt that we were being looked at with the customers eyes. I'm not trying to be racist but all the individuals looked to be of Indian descent and my cousins and I are of Mexican descent. This did not freak me out but it was uncomfortable. This is why I dropped 1 star from the review because the unfriendly feeling of not belonging at the ice cream place. The ice cream place had a wide arrangement of ice cream flavors that I knew and others that were new to me. I sampled the ferrero rocher flavor and got a scoop of it. It was delicious! The last star that I took off was when the establishment decided to add tax to my purchase. At first the cashier charged me $2.99 for a scoop of ice cream and then decided to erase it and charge $2.99 with tax with a final price of $3.25. Something felt fishy about this but I accepted the final total. After coming home, I decided to research if ice cream carried a tax. To my surprise, my intuition was right and the female cashier charged me tax which should have not happened. If you go to the new Nirvanah on Mowry Ave, please remember to ask for no tax because ice cream does not carry tax. read more

I have driven by this place many a times and finally decided to stop and get some yogurt..So I thought..Turns out this place is not your average yogurt shop, it actually is a specialty Indian ice cream shop..Shut the front door I know! So many unique flavors to choose from and I mean unique..like mango chutney, rose water something something, shoot I can't even remember all the flavors. I ended up choosing guava and pistachio and I all can say is..Wow! I think when you come here you probably want to order the more unique flavors as you will not regret it. 4 stars for the ice cream, but 5 stars for the service. Server was super patient with my two boys and I. We tried many samples, and he was very nice about it. Would have gotten more (two scoops!) if not for the fact that we were on a tour-de-ice-cream&gelato day and it was the 3rd dessert stop. I ended up choosing the rose petal flavor, while my boys enjoyed the blue mango (black currant & mango). Very bad experience. Would not recommend this place. Had to wait for 30 mins to find out none of the 6 flavors we wanted were available and the staff just decided to ignore or disappear for long breaks, leaving us hanging and had no regard for the customers.
