Re: changing/updating my review... I rarely write a review on the same day unless I am not busy and the place wows me to the tee. This place truly does wow me. I love how they utilize "real" ingredients and that you can see it such as the vanilla bean. I LOVE how the boss herself makes the drink, one by one. I loved the flavor profile. It wasn't bitter at all even when the espresso is so concentrated! It's not too sweet (however having others try it... they tell me I should let them know it's too sweet BUT they are the type that likes their coffee black or with milk or with half and half and I see folks in front of me pouring more than 3 bags of sugar into their drinks... so it is seriously not too sweet!) and it's well round. The downfall sincerely is the wait time (hence the 4 stars). And I know they can't do anything about it unless they run multiple machines at a time or pre make the espresso. ***PRO TIP: It's the only coffee joint at the Newark farmers market. It's great if you order at this place FIRST and then start your farmers market shopping spree.*** Would I come back? I mean I love the farmers market at Newark and I am more or less at the Newark farmers market for a certain vendor (their greens are bomb dot com for my pet chickens haha) but I don't know if I would wait 20-30 minutes for a drink. Stopped by Magical Box's coffee trailer at the Newark Farmer's Market and loved everything we tried! The iced cardamom bun latte was perfectly spiced and not too sweet, and the maple bourbon flat white was rich & well balanced. Heather's a rockstar. She's been one even when she was just a booth with an easy up. The coffee trailer is a weekly necessity at the Newark Market. Easily one of the market staples. The service is amazing. Her staff that you order with are attentive, and have great recommendations when you're stuck picking from all her awesome choices. I will say be prepared to wait, but keep in mind, it's literally just one of her curating MULTIPLE drinks. If there's a line, I recommend placing your order, then doing your shopping and then coming back so the wait doesn't feel long. 9/10 the staff will remember you and keep your orders safe. All in all, it's all worth it. Heather's drinks and treats are always worth the line and the wait. P.S. if you fall in love with any of her seasonal syrups, ask to order a bottle. So affordable and you can keep the seasonal drink going at home on the weekdays while you wait for the Sunday market to roll around again. read more

Ever since I tried their Brownie cookie from my last Yelp Elite event at Pizza Hub back in November, I decided to try their lattes and other cookie flavors since my friend hyped about it. I came an hour after opening time and there were a few people waiting to receive their orders. Expect to wait 20 minutes for a single coffee/matcha latte and remind the barista to give your cookie. I recommend walking around the farmers market while you wait so you don't freeze your butt off during winter. To be honest, I had difficulty tasting the flavors of their seasonal lattes. It was mostly oat milk, not much pear flavor and pumpkin spice flavor. Their cookies were the best part, which made me come back for more. I recommend getting their stamp loyalty card if you're going to visit frequently to get a reward for collecting all their stamps. read more

The small black coffee for five bucks is decent though far from very good. They take credit cards.

I know their main thing is coffee, but their Chai latte was extremely disappointing. When I gave it to my wife she asked if there was any tea in it, as it just tasted like cinnamon milk. I would recommend they remove it from their menu as it seems like they have a lot of great drinks. I hate to give a bad review to a small business but this was noticeablely worse than even Starbucks. read more

I've been to Magical Box Bakery almost every Sunday because they set up shop during the Newark Farmers market, and I look forward to it every weekend! Their iced dirty ube lattes are incredible, and I also love getting one of their fall seasonal drinks (an iced latte with a pumpkin soft top). Came across the Magical Box food truck randomly at the Newark Farmer's market. I tried their seasonal menu which had a blueberry cobbler matcha. They advertise that the blueberry cobbler syrup is homemade and I have to say it was out of this world! A nice flavor that you can't find at your standard coffee shop would come back for this alone. Magical Box is available at Farmers Markets and also do delivery and pickup, you can preorder on their website. We found them at Newarks Farmers Market and it's been one of the best unplanned discoveries we've had in awhile. You can't beat fresh-baked cookies, the taste and texture at the most optimal. S'mores Sandwich Cookie, an evolved version of the Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies. Soft cake-like batter melts gently in your mouth, sandwiching a cloud-like marshmellow layer. It's very balanced and not too sweet, every bite I had I kept asking myself "why is this so good". Salted Chocolate Chip, crunchy layer on bottom with a soft bite-through. Salt and chocolate a great mix of sweet and savory. We got a single Bougie-Cookie which is not pictured, its a great oatmeal cookie based on the urban-legend $250 NM cookie recipe. read more

I was on Yelp late at night and saw Magical Box Bakery on my feed again. My mouth started to water remembering the last time I got cookies from here. Unfortunately preorders were closed, so on a whim messaged her on Facebook to check if their farmers market stand had walk-in purchases. I woke up early on a Sunday and went to the Newark Farmers market at the Newpark Mall next to the AMC. I probably bought way too much for myself. I got a box of Snicker doodles, kerfuffles, and Pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. They were all so good! Moist and flavorful without being too sweet. I also got the brownies she was selling. Delicious. I sort of wish she had an assortment cookie box which had all the flavors, so I could try everything without having to get a full box of each. I got the s'mores bar and I was so disappointed. And I loves s'mores everything! It's literally just a chunk of marshmallow. Graham cracker layer was literally just crumbs. I wish it was thicker. The marshmallow wasn't really toasted, it was just for the color I guess. Picture on IG makes it look hella good. I took a star off for the taste and another star off for the price. Heather was able to accommodate my last minute order of 5 dozen cookies for my son's graduation party and each cookie flavor did not disappoint! Salted Chocolate Chip - Amazing! Kerfuffle with customized M&M colors - So cute and yummy! Bougie Cookie - Delish! Snickerdoodle - Soo good! And the pièce de ré·sis·tance - Magic Swirl! I packaged each cookie in its own bag so guests wouldn't be touching the cookies but Heather packaged each dozen in brown boxes with red and white twine. I was referred by a family member, and I am so happy I ordered cookies from here. If you want to sample some flavors before ordering, Heather (the owner and baker) is occasionally at the Newark farmer's market on Sundays. I ordered 6 different flavors for my coworkers, and the fan favorites were the magic swirls, s'mores and cookies n cream. Everything was delicious and it was a very easy transaction. Heather replies quickly on Yelp and you can pay via venmo. Once they're done, you pick them up outside of her house. For larger orders, she prefers a week's notice. I love to support small businesses so when I saw that the Magical Box Bakery was open and what they were offering I had to place my order right away. As a cottage bakery I love that they put out what they are baking every week. I'm adventurous and it's good to try new things. I also like that they take special orders too. That way if you find something you LOVE you can order what your heart desires. Truly the best of both worlds. This week they were offering the Magic Swirl Cookie. Check out my pictures of this magnificent cookie. My only regret is that I only ordered six of them because they may not last the day in our house. These cookies are magical. They are the perfect balance of red velvet and a classic sugar cookie. They are not overly sweet and you can tell they use quality ingredients. The cookie itself was moist and light. The dusting of sugar of the outside of the cookie gives it a bit of texture and is a nice touch. I enjoyed biting into the cookies and seeing the perfect swirls inside of each one. It made me savor them just a bit longer. The Magic Swirl is one of the best cookies I've had. Placing an order and pick up was super easy. I'm a huge fan of Magical Box Bakery. Every MBB cookie I've tried has been delicious. Each cookie has really great flavor and a perfect texture. The Salted Chocolate Chip are really, really good as are the Brownie Chips. I also love Heather's Snickerdoodle cookies and my husband loves the Peanut Butter ones.
