I asked for a large scoop of gold medal ribbon and a large scoop of chocolate fudge in a waffle cone. The smallest ice cream scoop was selected by the supposed new guy and they started to scoop the gold medal ribbon that was almost melting away on the scoop itself. However, I spoke up politely inquiring why the ice cream was melting away. The new guy replied that it had caramel inside which is why it was melting. This did not make any sense. Thankfully, it did not make any sense to the other experienced server as well and they immediately took notice and asked the new guy to scoop ice cream from the frozen section of the ice cream container. The experienced employee also asked the new guy to select a larger scoop for large scoops of ice cream requested by the customer. The new guy then dropped the melting scoop of ice cream from the waffle cone back into the container while some of the melted ice cream was still stuck to the cone. I should have gotten a new cone! Finally, The ice cream was scooped perfectly with the help of the experienced guy and my ice cream was very good. I hope the service is pleasant the next time and I don't have to struggle watching an entire basic ice cream scooping training session. read more

There was one visit when I was surprised to find a a cake that had one ice cream flavor on one half, and a different ice cream cake on the other half. This is a nice option for people who have different ice cream preferences. Or an excuse for people to have 2 slices of cake to try both flavors. I prefer their rectangular or their roll cakes over their round cake styles because they are much easier to cut. This shop is centrally located, across the street from the Fremont Hub. Sadly, the only Baskin-Robbins in Fremont has deteriorated in cleanliness and customer service recently. We've come in at different times/days of the week yet the store remains in disarray. A sad reminder of how nice it was years ago. For example, glass displays are constantly filthy (inside & out), the ice cream bins should be scraped regularly, the back counters are messy, and floors could use a good scrubbing. A ladder has remained in the main area next to the front door (ok, maybe they used it and quickly had to serve customers while there is a spot on the back room to put the ladder back out of the customers view. Unfortunately, the staff doesn't wear hair covers or wash their hands between orders nor present themselves in a clean manner actually disheveled handling food. All to the contrary of the corporate training outlined for the Baskin-Robbins franchisees. The ice cream is iconic and that's why we go for a treat every once in a while yet, sadly, it's gone down hill. I tried the new ube coconut swirl, and it was a very sweet, creamy coconut milk based ice cream with grated purple sweet potato mixed in. They could have frozen ube, and little more Butterfly ube flavoring for this flavor to pop. But the ratio of sugar, coconut milk and the composition of ice cream is way off. I would say 2/5. Ube should taste like a savory, deep purple in color, chewy from ube tuber. To me, it tasted like okinawan purple potato. I had lemon custard the flavors tasted like meyer lemons but texture was like ice cream not a frozen custard. 2.7/5. I liked this flavor better than the new flavor. The parking is a little tricky depending on what time of day you go since it's in a shared complex with Safeway and the bank amongst other things. Customer service was good. Staff was very friendly. My toddler couldn't decide what flavor she wanted so the girl behind the counter was more than willing to give her samples to try. The store was pretty clean and well kept. I bought her a kids scoop ($3.19)and got two cookies; peanut butter and chocolate chip ($1.60). The cookies were not great. I could have gotten a cookie at the Safeway Bakery and would have been more satisfied. The girl actually mentioned that she just took it out of the freezer and had to microwave one of my cookies since it was still cold. The ice cream was ok.. but for $3, the options for desserts in the area trumps her 1scoop of ice cream.
