Horrible! STAY AWAY! Do not waste your money on this place! My boyfriend purchased a colon session for me as a gift. I made an appointment online and hours later the "receptionist" calls me to tell me that they didn't have the slot available. After a few minutes trying to figure out what would work best with my schedule, Dr. Knight asked for me to call her back. I call her back and i took one of the times she offered me . Oh yes, the receptionist was Dr. knight herself. About an hour later i get a txt on my cell from Dr. Knight to tell me that someone booked 3 colonic sessions online for the next 3 weeks at the times she offered me. Most unprofessional scheduling. I told my bf to get his money back and forget about this place! Well a week later the actual Receptionist calls me while I'm at work and left me a voice mail. I couldn't help but laugh at how horrible that voice mail was. I could barely understand the lady because of how loud the back round music was. She was very muffled. I thought it was some sort of joke. Well I finally decided to give them a try. I booked online and this time they actually confirmed my appointment. Not only they did call me to confirm my appointment time. They emailed me AND texted me. So here comes Saturday. It's 10:03am..:appointment time is 10am.... door is locked. We knock... nothing. We stand outside in the cold for about 10 minutes waiting to see if anyone would come out, Nothing! We finally decided to leave at 10:25am! NEVER AGAIN! We will be getting our money back! read more

Nirvana was my first massage where they actually come to you instead of going to a spa, and I found it to be very convenient. The masseuse, Winter, arrived on time, was very professional, and gave a really wonderful, relaxing massage. Afterwards I felt completely "zen" and didn't have to deal with the logistics of getting back home, since I was already there! One minor improvement would be better responsiveness on the scheduling line - I did have to call three or so times to actually reach someone, but when I did I was able to schedule it within a few minutes, just a couple days ahead of my appointment. Overall, I think this is a great at-home option when you want a restorative massage without going too far out of your way (or time is limited). Spas where you can pass a leisurely few hours are their own level of indulgence, but this is an excellent choice for an on-the-go person in need of some quality R&R! read more

I prefer the atmosphere of a spa, which is no surprise (I'd rather dine out than carry-out). However, I'd highly recommend Wynter. She promptly arrived on time and was extremely professional. The massage is good, and she periodically asked if the pressure was right. I also had the salt scrub at the end, which was a little too rough for my taste, but hey, some people like that exfoliation. From other reviews, it sounds like people had trouble scheduling their visit. Fortunately I did not, and I was the one who re-scheduled twice. Once when I called their voicemail was full, but then I called back later in the day and someone picked up. Again, if you prefer the "spa experience", then skip this. But if you just want a no hassle massage, I would give them a try (especially with the Bloomspot deal). read more

Avoid--get a refund from Groupon before going out of your way to go here. Unprofessional and dirty. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because it was cheap, and the online reservation process was easy. I'll write more details until I get sick of it below. Around lunchtime I received a call at work from an unknown number. When I answered, I could hear some people laughing and talking but hung up since no one seemed to hear me answer. Moments later I received another call: It was Dr. Knights. She let me know that she wouldn't be there for my colonic but that she would be there to do a consultation when I was finished. The call was unpolished, but I didn't have a problem with another staff member giving me a colonic. When I tried to enter the space at 3:45 for my 4:00 appointment (since the online directions said to arrive 10 minutes early), the door was locked. The receptionists peeked out at me inquisitively; then one of them shuffled over and opened the door. Instead of inviting me in, he says with sleepy eyes and an open mouth--"Are you here for Dr. Knight? Because she just left." I explained that the doctor called me earlier, but the young man's demeanor continued to indicate I shouldn't be there. (Btw-During this exchange, I was standing outside in the cold with the heavy bag I had schlepped all the way there on the red line.) Another receptionist interrupted him and said she would do the colonic and finally invited me inside. I waited alone in the waiting room with no word on what might happen next or when for about half an hour. A short while after I sat down, another woman attempted to enter the locked door. She was obviously a patient, so I got up and let her in. (No idea why they need to lock the door for a place of business like this--especially if they're going to move so slowly to let people inside.) The male receptionist gave her the same $hi++y greeting he gave me. Apparently Dr. Knights was supposed to be there to give a test to this other lady--a saint in my opinion for not totally losing it. When the staff nonchalantly said the doctor wasn't in and that they weren't authorized to do it, the lady goes--"but I fasted all day for this" in a very soft tone and left with no apology or offer of alternatives from the staff. I almost spoke up to suggest waiting since the doctor said she would be in later but thought better of it. Fast forward to my treatment, starting 40 minutes late: I'm in a tiny converted bathroom where the only light is a night light plugged into the wall and an uncurtained window. I want some bright light if I'm going into a room regularly splashed in excrement. ...The assistant told me Dr. Knights wouldn't be able to come at the end of my service, so she would be doing my consultation instead. Again, I didn't particularly care--just thought their lack of professional coordination looked very sloppy. The colonic itself was what I expected I guess. I just thought things would seem cleaner. And there was no real door to the bathroom, just a sliding cabinet door that was left slightly ajar to the waiting room. I saw the previous colonic patient come out just a few moments before I was invited in; and I just don't see how they could have properly cleaned it before my time. Toward the end of my service, the assistant came in to give me instructions for wrapping up and said instead of giving me the consultation herself, I should schedule a time to come back and attend one of their lifestyle talks. When the colonic ended, it was totally dark outside and my main source of light, the window was of no use. I was trying to clean myself with baby wipes in near darkness when suddenly there was tons of light--coming from some truck's headlights directly outside of the window. No doubt the driver saw me mopping up my bare bottom. I ducked and closed the curtain and tried my best to just get clean and dressed enough to flee without focusing on how disgusting the floor I was standing on barefooted probably was. When I went back out to the front desk, the staff member who helped me went into the room to clean it--and just left me out there looking at what was likely the next person in line for this unsanitary humiliation. I noticed the office had a water cooler with a little amethyst infuser in the middle, very pretty but an obvious sign of superstitious charlatanism. Eventually the lady was gone so long that I went into the room of shame and asked if I could just pay and leave. She asked if we could set up a follow-up appointment, I said "I don't think so." I purchased an in-home massage with Nirvana Holistic Spa. It took three attempts over the span of a week to actually get in touch with someone to make the appointment. I received two confirmation emails prior to my appointment so I felt pretty confident things were going to go well. The last confirmation email I received was on the morning of the appointment. Unfortunately, the time of my appointment came and no one showed up. I called and emailed but did not receive an answer. After the third phone call, an hour after my scheduled appointment time I finally got through to someone but when I explained why I was calling, they hung up on me. I called back and the person on the other end of the line told me that she did not see me scheduled. I was told I would be contacted by a manager but three days later...no one has contacted me. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!! You will pay in advance and lose your money. read more

I am so incredibly fed up with this company and will soon be taking them to small claims court if I do not receive the refund that is due unto me. As an attorney in the DC area, I thought that it would be a great idea to have an in-home massage for my husband and I due to our extremely unpredictable schedules and long hours. Little did I know that (1) the staff members would arrive hours late without notification [over two-and-a-half hours late, actually]; (2) they would arrive without adequate supplies to perform our services [no sugar scrub], and (3) that one of the staff members would arrive with the worst body odor that we have ever experienced in our entire lives [which left a horrible stench after she left]. I immediately contacted Nirvana (the next morning) to tell them about our horrible experience and they offered to issue a refund or provide another service. Because the service was that bad, I opted for a refund - mind you that was MONTHS ago. To date, I have not received a refund and receive intermittent communication regarding same. Today, I called the localized customer service number and Marcella hung up on me after I voiced my concerns and demanded a refund - to add additional insult to injury. On Monday, Karen offered a refund in an amount that I deemed a little low as compensation for a massage and missing scrubs. But because they adopted a new accounting system, she was unsure what was due unto me. And although I did not outright reject the amount, I haven't heard back from her anyway to confirm. At all costs, I would not recommend this business. Their customer service is horrendous and it's a shame given that it's such an amazing business model. read more

The best way to describe the customer service is "TERRIBLE"! I used this service for my girlfriend on her birthday, I asked for a hot stone package $145 and they gave her a Swedish $100. When the mistaken package was discovered at the end of the session, I provided emails and PayPal statements showing what I asked and payed for. These clowns told me they had to "look into it". I have tried on multiple occasions to contact booking but no response. Though it's a 45 dollar loss, I believe you reap what you sow so I know this business will soon be closed in a few short years because they have small minded people who don't want to do the right thing. read more

I've never encountered another business that was so disrespectful of their clients time. some tips for the owner and employees: 1) show up 2) show up on time 3) buy a gps to help you complete objective 1 4) plan ahead for parking and traffic. this is DC, after all. DO NOT CALL ME HALF AN HOUR AFTER MY APPT WAS TO BEGIN TO ASK ME WHERE TO PARK. This is something you could ask me at the time of booking, or figure it out yourself like the rest of us do. 5) if you're going to be late, even 5 minutes (but especially 35 or a no show), CALL THE CLIENT TO LET THEM KNOW!!!! 6) fix items 1 through 4, rather than continually offering me free services to make up for the last botched one. A friend of mines suggested this company to me.... And i was quite surprised to have the best massage Ive ever had. I recently got into a car accident, and was worried that the massage would hurt. But the therapist they sent was perfect. It seemed she was in tune to what spots were soar and what's areas to give more pressure. And being that they came to my house, i thought that was unique in itself, because i didn't have to travel. I had the best nights sleep ive had for years. I had a great experience here. People where nice and the massage was GREAT. I received a gift card, for my birthday, and it was a wonderful gift. Because it was my bday the people seemed extra friendly.- ok maybe it had nothing to do with my birthday :). I do advise you not to drive because you will probably not be able to walk due to the relaxed feeling. If you do drive make sure you have plenty of time to relax after the massage. read more

I love the quiet, retreat-like feel of a spa and I enjoyed not having to leave my home for this lovely massage. Each are distinct experiences--and this is one I would repeat! It was easy to schedule (I got a call right back and got by first choice time and day). The therapist arrived 15 minutes early to set up the table. IF USING AN ON-LINE COUPON FOR PACKAGE, CAREFULLY QUESTION THE PHONE OPERATORS TO STRESS ACCURATE COMMUNICATION TO SERVICE PROVIDERS. I don't know how to best rate this. The gals that came to your house were fantastic! My friends and I felt pampered. However, the person I spoke to on the phone to set up our appointment grossly under communicated our order. We received an offer from one of the "coupon" services, I won't say which one. The offer was for express mani/pedi with paraffin, and wine. I called directly first prior to "coupon" purchase because I didn't want to purchase without guarantee of a date since our group of 5 had limited availability and wanted to know if it was a problem that we didn't have a 6th before purchasing. The gal on the phone said it would be fine and in fact would throw in an upper body massage since there was just the 5 of us and the price point was for 6. She even asked whether we preferred red or white wine, I asked if we could have one of each. She confirmed with a yes. Sadly she never communicated this information in it's entirety to our amazing team. We did receive the upper body massages - they were divine. We also received the pedicures - these were also amazing. Sadly, we did not receive wine, paraffin treatments or manicures because these hadn't been communicated to the responding team. So, though our treatments were lovely and we would certainly engage this team again, the telephone operators need to learn to clearly communicate with the team. Since I was the party coordinator I felt bad as I had mislead my friends. The team that came out was embarrassed as well and will work with us to right it, but could not that day, supplies and staffing weren't available. I will give them a 5 but only because of the staff that provided the service. I purchased an at home massage for my college-age son, who gets sore traps and neck muscles from playing his trumpet. He's had lots of massages, and this was the very first one that was a bad experience. He said he was more tense after the massage than before, and felt belittled by the woman giving the massage, said she was "mean" -- and worse - relayed that she was mean after I left the house (ironically, to get $30 in cash to give her as a tip). I found this all very disturbing, got the definite sense that the woman was using her position as a masseuse to be mean and hateful. I will never again give this place my business. Absolutely horrible--terrible, terrible customer service! The massage therapist never showed up and they told Amazon that I had used my voucher--making it difficult to get refund. TERRIBLE. First of all, I booked my appointment and had to work with the Admin person named Karenn (with two "n"s) to fit into the schedule. No problem--I moved some meetings and pushed back a lunch. Then, the night before, at 10:12pm, I get an email asking if I could move my appt to the afternoon. When I replied that no, sorry, I couldn't because I had already moved appts to the afternoon so I could fit the appt in and how about we just reschedule?(I understand, last minute things come up--let's just push to another time) I got NO reply until after midnight saying thanks and maybe for the best. Fine. But then at 3am, I get an email CONFIRMING my 11am. So now, I think appt is back on. I emailed THREE TIMES in the am, beginning at 8am saying, hey--let's just reschedule. NO REPLY. So I get ready and wait for 11am. Antonio does not show up. At 11:20am I call and email and say, no problem--I understand. Things come up--we'll reschedule. Later, at 3pm, in the middle of a very busy afternoon, I get a call from Karenn (with two "n"s) saying "hi-you didn't get my email at midnight? wow, didn't you see that we were going to reschedule?" When I pointed out that she sent a re-confirming email at three am PLUS did NOT reply to my three emails in the morning or my call, she told me that the problem must be on my end with my email. !!!???!!!! (Keep in mind, I emailed with other folks all morning and had no problems) I told her that I would be in touch at my convenience to reschedule and ended the call. I was going to let it roll until I checked my Amazon account and saw that the MERCHANT had said I used the voucher! I have asked for a refund. I'm sure my massage would have been wonderful--if any of the three appointments I booked had actually been fulfilled. My sister gave me a groupon for a one hour massage by Nirvana Holistic Spa as a Christmas present. I waited three weeks for a weekend appointment, which was confirmed the day before, only to be called at 8:30am--two hours before the appointment--to be told that the therapist had the flu and could not make it. Disappointing, but hardly the end of the world. I rescheduled for their next available weekend appointment, several weeks later. At the second appointment, my therapist arrived at my home on time--but he turned out to be a man, when I had specifically asked for a female therapist. I got through to the Nirvana office (the answering machine usually picks up), and they said that they hadn't seen a note that I had requested a female therapist, even though I had clearly made this request the first time I scheduled my appointment. Strike two. I rescheduled for this past weekend, knowing I'd probably need a massage because I just flew 19 hours home from an international business trip. I received a call 10 minutes before the scheduled appointment that my therapist was late, but on her way. An automated text arrived soon after, indicating that she was "25 minutes away or less." She finally arrived 44 minutes after the appointment was to have started. When I finally spoke to the Nirvana office, they said a medical emergency at the therapist's previous appointment had prevented her from leaving on time, but I find it hard to believe that no one could have informed me about this and called me with a real estimated time of arrival, instead of sending an automated (and inaccurate) text message. Third strike--and I finally demanded a refund. The therapist offered to do a massage for free, but this was not her fault--nor was it the male therapist's fault when he showed up when I had specifically asked for a female therapist. The management is the problem. If scheduling a massage with Nirvana actually causes inconvenience and frustration, why would you bother? It's just not worth it. I'll gladly go to a spa if it means my appointment will be kept on time, and my preferences are addressed. Management called me at 7pm that evening to tell me they'd refund the amount of the groupon by check, and that it would arrive within a week. Let's hope the check at least arrives on time, and in the correct amount. read more

I finished up a big project at work a few weeks ago and decided to treat myself to a massage from Nirvana Holistic Spa. I've had quite a few massages in my day but this was my first time receiving (a professional one) in my own home. Things didn't start off so great when the therapist called to let me know she was going to be running about 10 minutes late. Not the best start to a service which is supposed to provide relaxation. When Melinda, the therapist, arrived she apologized for the tardiness and offered to add 10 minutes on to my scheduled 60-minute massage as compensation. I gladly accepted. Overall, I would rate the massage quality a very good 9/10 and while I'd love to give Nirvana a solid 5 stars, something threw me off about being late to a massage appointment so I'll need to drop it to a 4 star experience. read more

Karin King was wonderful and I would highly recommend Nirvana Holistic Spa. The fact that I did not have to go anywhere after it was all said and done was so nice. I did not have to worry about going out in public looking a mess. And it was simply fantastic to be able to relax at home in sweats and have no place I had to go. Karin came prepared with spa music and insisted we light candles around the room. It felt like a spa and was a great massage. And leading up to the appointment the customer service was phenomenal. I had to change dates and they could not have been more understanding and helpful. I could not give Nirvana Holistic Spa a higher recommendation. It was simply put - a great experience. read more

Masseuse Karin King can find the knots and has good thumb pressure skills to work the knots. Relative to other massage therapists, I would have rated her proficiency at 4 stars. However, several factors led me to derate the overall experience down to three stars. (1) Unpleasant body odor, probably exacerbated by clothing with synthetic content. (A hot soapy shower + fresh, all cotton clothing would remove this derating factor). (2) The therapist was recovering from an injury and was not able to exert as much pressure. When I was first informed of the injury several weeks ago, we had to reschedule the appointment. However, it was not disclosed to me that the therapist had not recovered fully by the day of the rescheduled appointment. (3) Nirvana's scheduling system has an auto-response "Thank you ..." which conveys an impression that the requested appointment has gone through. Several times, this impression was not consistent with the response of the "live person." read more

I ordered the 90-mins in home couples massage for my girlfriend and I. It was a late Valentine's Day gift for her, I got the room ready prior to arrival- candles, bottle of wine, music, and a portable heater to start loosening up the joints. Our appointment was for 7:30pm and promptly at 7:25pm we had two female therapists, Destiny and Cyntria at the door. They went ahead and set up the whole process which only took a few minutes and for 90mins I was in heaven! It was an amazing experience, I highly recommend using them. read more

It was last Tuesday and My girlfriend's birthday was this past weekend and I was frantically looking for something to get her. Then I remembered purchasing a Groupon for a massage at Nirvana Holistic Spa a few weeks back for myself. Since I was being lazy I figured she would appreciate it more, so I called Nirvana Holistic Spa and was lucky enough to get an appointment on Saturday morning, her actual birthday. The therapist showed up at my house on time. I opened the door and he was very friendly and professional. After I informed him it wasn't me but my girlfriend he was tending to he directed his attention to her and made sure we were both comfortable before he began. The massage lasted 60 minutes and my girl was very pleased and very relaxed after the massage...she complimented me on the great birthday gift and has been overly pleasant and generous all week lol . After that experience I called and made an appointment for myself this Saturday, but this time I made sure I asked for a female therapist. Hopefully my massage turns out just as well. Kudos to Nirvana Holistic Spa so far for putting a big smile on my girls face and stay tuned for my upcoming experience.... read more
