Nino's was awesome. Without exaggeration, i called over 15 places to install a basic fire escape for the third floor apartment in one of my properties. No one was interested. Nino's called back, they showed up, they measured the place, they gave me an estimate (very reasonable btw). They were most polite. Took a deposit. HORRIBLE experience. Please.....for your mental sanity and safety, please choose another company as there are plenty on the North Shore/Boston Area. This company was responsible for installing new front wrought iron railings and for sandblasting some inside railings that I had brought in. I was told it would only take two to three weeks. Fine. After FOUR months of calling and calling as the paying customer, getting the run-around from Rosa the receptionist, being lied to, having the price jacked up each time I've called, I've finally had my railings installed and completed. Nino's (and Rosa) cooperated after they knew I would have taken them to court for withholding my personal property; withholding my railings they were supposed to blast and re-paint in a few weeks. This was a safety issue most of all. I have elderly parents and grandparents coming to my home----and had no railings. The inside railings were custom and I needed them back. In the meantime of all of that: 1. Workers came and tried to install front railings in the dark.... tried to install without my go-ahead, brought the wrong design I have never selected... 2. The owner would dodge my phone calls. 3. Rosa would dodge my phone calls. She would only text me like a coward. 4. They told me they might have lost my railings. 5. They lost the paint I had picked out and brought in to be used. Nino's Ironworks is not organized, not professional, and is a scam. Railings and wrought iron work are expensive. Spend your money wisely and go somewhere else. What a nightmare. Truly. read more

If I could give these guys negative stars, I would. They are horrible. I had them come out for an estimate just before June 26th 2015 for replacing/rehanging an iron gate in the city. They were a little late showing up, but did call to let me know, and gave me what sounded like a good estimate. They said they would be out the week of July 4th to do the work. They have since been telling me for the past 6 weeks that they will be out next week. And the NEVER EVER SHOW. I call them on Monday each week and they confirm they are coming, and still nothing. If you can't or don't want to do the work, tell me and I will get someone else. Aldo is the gentlemen that answers the calls and organizes the work. Zero credibility in my book. Well I really liked this company. They came gave an estimate and came within 2 weeks my railings look amazing! There was 2 appointments missed but that was because weather didn't cooperate with timing. I will being using them again! I worked with Rosa who is very energetic and loud which doesn't bother me, the price was spot on! read more

I had an absolutely awful experience. Worst customer service. And basically are crooks.

I gave them a very big job that was fairly complicated because it involved many creating bars for windows that were different sizes. The work was exquisite and the price was very reasonable. I assumed they would have to come back more than once because errors or ommissions are common with this sort of a job, but remarkably, there were no issues. They did the work quickly and professionally. I haven't had any issues since they were installed 3 years ago and the bars still look great. read more

Beware. I was having trouble finding a welder who'd take on the small job of straightening a bent metal table leg. After emailing Nino's with images of the table I was told--Hurray!--sure, just bring it in. When I arrived, I spoke with Aldo and left the table. (Aldo, by the way, found it amusing I wanted a receipt.) The very next day Aldo called saying the table was ready and it was $75. When I went to pick it up, he was nowhere to be found, but a worker who spoke primarily Portuguese took me to the table that was covered in dirt and metal dust in the corner of the workroom. I looked at it, and the leg looked just the same as when I'd brought it in. I respectfully voiced my concern, but the worker couldn't converse in English so he got Aldo on the phone. They spoke for a minute in Portuguese, then the worker handed me the phone. But the connection was so garbled I gave up and handed the phone back to the worker. At that point, I decided to cut my losses and just get my table out of there, handing over a $75 check. The worker took the check and loaded the table into my car. I drove home feeling 'had' and like I'd been a wimp for paying a penny. I emailed Aldo immediately about my disatisfaction, saying that if I didn't get an explanation for why the leg looked unchanged, or if I got no response at all, I'd reluctantly put an unfavorable review on line. And, having heard not a peep back, here's my review. I usually read reviews carefully before making a move, and for some reason didn't in this case. Now, having read some of the ones for Nino's, the writing was on the wall all along. read more

Dan, business manager, sent someone out the same day for an estimate to repair the fire escape. Price quoted was very very reasonable compared to a few other companies that came out for an estimate. The guys showed up the following day and worked efficiently to complete the project. Most importantly communication was great throughout the project. One of the worst people I have dealt with. Only regret not coming to Yelp and double checking (lesson for next time). Like some of the users, I can agree with them being absolutely terrible. You would think a small local company would be better than big corporate ones, but I was totally wrong. I needed to have a door replaced, somewhat of a simple job. The current door was to be removed and a new one in its place. It was standard until we arrived on the day the job was to be completed. The team had installed a protective door over the current door! How could you open both doors to even get out? Who in their right mind put 2 doors in front of each other? We tried calling and the owner did not take responsibility. I said I would pay extra to have the door fixed (as a nice gesture). He had agreed. It has now been OVER a month. I have been calling almost every day to see when they would come out to fix the door. The guy who takes the calls constantly makes up excuses (will contact you ASAP, boss isn't around, can't reach boss, etc.). I've waited too long and been playing childish games with this company. If you want things done DO NOT go with Nino's. read more

Working with this company has been the most frustrating experience ever - and we've seen many bad companies in our line of work. It's been 6 months since the first time we asked them to come for an estimate. After three months pursuing them to get them here to see the work and to get a price with a breakdown - mind you they had to come twice because it seems they forgot what the scope was between visits - they finally sent the estimate and we said ok let's do it. Now we have spent three months trying to schedule the work...calling two or three times a week and getting no answer or evasive answers. They finally said ok we are ready we will be there x day at x time. Of course they didn't show up. It has now been three times that they've said we will be there between 8:30 and 9:00am, including two Saturdays that we got up early to let them in. Nobody showed up, nobody called to notify beforehand that they wouldn't be here, or to explain why they were not here. The third "no-show" time was after telling them "this is your last chance." They clearly don't care to get business. The woman who answers phones and supposedly schedules people, Rosa, actively will avoid your calls if she has no answers and recognizes your number (we verified it by calling from a different number), and in two occasions she answered and within two minutes of us trying to ask her what is going on she simply hung up the phone on us. She is incredibly rude, and inconsistent with her story. Her boss is nicer but he doesn't seem to care enough about client relationships, and doesn't run a very organized business. The amount of time we have wasted, and the effort that it has taken only to take abuse by rude employees - it is not worth it. Reading through other reviews now I can see we are not the only ones. How do companies like this stay in business? We are moving on to find someone else to do the work. read more

We'd been thinking of replacing our shoddy aluminum handrail for a while, but every place I called was deemed completely overpriced for the installation of a glorified tinfoil banister. In a twist of fate, I saw an ad on the back of a newspaper clipping on my office desk for Nino's. I work in the South End and adore the iron railing work on the Brownstones and row houses in the neighborhood. I've always wanted my Chelsea Brownstone to look like that, but assumed it would be too pricey. My husband and I took bets on how much it would cost, since we knew it was going to be bananas. Nino's went to the house while we were at work, and called me immediately with a quote that blew my hair back. It was about 40% less than the other companies, and if we wanted to put a second railing on the other side of the steps (which we were hoping to do), it came to the same price as we would have paid for one aluminum railing from the other places. I accepted the offer and the following week they installed the custom-made railing. It took them no time, and we didn't have to be home. (My husband did happen to pass through as they were wrapping things up, and they were courteous and professional.) Little over one week after I saw the ad, we became the proud owners of one of the nicest stoops in Chelsea! read more

Very nice service. Missed first appointment for an estimate, but I got a call later to explain and reschedule. I got an estimate quickly, which was much less than others I had gotten for the same project. Our front rails were installed quickly, in half the estimated time, and over a holiday weekend! I had them modify an iron gate on a condo I own in Boston. We were changing the lock so they needed to install a new steel box to accept the lock and add a semi-circle of iron mesh to prevent someone reaching around and unlocking the latch. The took the gate off the building, took it back to their shop, and brought it back all done and newly painted. Looks great! The box for the lock was perfectly positioned. They responded to messages in a timely manner and did the work in only a few days. They were great to work with and I'd definitely use them again! read more

I had Nino do iron railings for my steps almost 2 years ago. I noticed that one of the decorations on the side railing is upside down! Also, the railings are rusting all over the place. I called Nino's last year and the man I spoke to said "there is nothing we can do". I guess they got paid and now it's my problem. I am not happy about this. Now I have to hire someone to re-paint the railings. i didn't think that they would rust in such a short time. read more

I hired them to put in solid wrought iron ralings but they put in hollow ones. When I confronted them that I knew they were not solid the owner Anotony would not return my calls then when did get him on the phone he denied it and started to swear at me and told me he would sue me. they are very unproffesional and you don't get what you are promished. also sloppy work. Unfortunately, Nino's does not seem to care about punctuality, communication, or reliability. We had scheduled an appointment for the foreman to be here to measure on Thursday morning at 9am. No show. Nobody called. Finally, after leaving several messages, I received a call in the afternoon saying the foreman was out sick (or his child, it wasn't clear) and would be returning the next morning for the job at 9am. No show again. No call. Finally made contact in the afternoon, with the promise he would appear Monday morning, though the man I spoke to wasn't certain. Monday no show again, no call. In the late afternoon, I was told that the foreman would be here FOR SURE 9am Tuesday (today). No show, no call AGAIN. I was getting very exasperated at this point. At 2:35pm Nino's called to say they would be here in a half hour. I was very dubious, and wanted to clarify - "You mean you will definitely be here by 3:05pm??" He assured me that it was true. Well, it was not. I tried calling at 3:12pm, no answer. He called at 3:17pm, saying his GPS said he would be here in 10 minutes. At this point, we determined we just couldn't depend upon this company, and sadly waved them off. We will have to try another. Hope they are more reliable. read more

I had Nino put rod iron railings on my front steps. I had limestone tracks supported by brick. I voiced my concern about drilling into limestone because the steps were at least 20 years old. Nino said not to worry and he would drill them himself. Unfortunately, in two months the two steps drilled into cracked. He had his mason look at it and said more than likely the steps cracked at the drilling point due to the drilling. He said he would share in the repair. When his mason came and took of the steps, he said he would recommend starting from scratch. This would cost over $2,000. I wanted no par of that and all Nino would cover was $200. I subsequently had the steps repaired for $800. Nino would not pay any of this price. He said he would put back the railings this Spring. He now refuses to put the railings back on. I am in the process of starting legal action. I would not recommend Nino's Iron works to anybody. Sincerely, Joe Casarano read more
