Had a fantastic experience working with Alcantara! Marcelino was a great GC who was always upfront and informative about the tasks at hand. We were so impressed with their services that we asked to work with them for some additional work after the initial project was completed. The project involved redoing our kitchen and bathroom. We used a 3rd party to design and purchase the items through them and relied on Marcelino and his team to demo and install the new fixtures, cabinets and appliances! Although there were hiccups along the way (something to expect when it comes to any renovation work), Marcelino ensured that issues were had were addressed promptly. Marcelino was upfront during our initial walkthrough quote and gave an accurate timeframe when the project could be completed. The second phase involved the installation of some recessed lights which was completed within 1-2 weeks. Very happy with the results! There were some minor issues after the project's completion but after mentioning these concerns Marcelino had his team stop by our place with a very quick turnaround time to address our concerns. Overall Marcelino and his team were professional and respectful of our property (made sure to cover our exposed furniture during the painting/demolition phases). Their price was also reasonable for the Boston area. I would strongly recommend Alcantara for any renovation projects you may have! I would highly recommend Alcantara based on our experience contracting them to remodel a very small bathroom in our home, adding a shower. I reached out on Yelp and Marcelino came to look at the space at a scheduled time, went over the details of what we wanted and provided a comprehensive estimate. We were picky and had chosen most of our finishes in advance from places that I don't think they typically use, but that was easily accommodated and worked into the quote. We planned a start date in advance and the crews started right on time. The workers were all very professional, friendly and discreet. I tried twice to hire this company. I first reached out in February. Owner Nathalia told me to be available at a set time which I set aside. I asked for confirmation. She said she would confirm "soon" and never did. She told me this was because THEIR schedule was tight and one of their staff was on medical leave. OK. So I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and reached out again at the beginning of July thinking my first experience was a fluke. Same deal. They told me a time and then no one showed up. Owner Nathalia C. (Identified as owner on Yelp message conversation) told me it was a short week. If you aren't going to show as a responsible business owner you call or text the client and tell them that you aren't coming and apologize for putting them out. Wasted my time twice. I left an earlier review about this condo unit when Carlos and his company first started. We had to start from scratch and it looked like a hopeless situation. After having problems with my insurance choice of contractor I fired them and noticed a card left under my door from a neighbor having work done. I called and he came right over with a plan. We needed To rewire all electric so work had to be done without Electric. I recommended my upstairs neighbors to Carlos and they also contracted with him. First thing was permits and that's not easy. Carlos handled every phase of the work and took charge in a timely manner. We had such trouble getting everyone on the same page. Condo and private insurance, inspections of plumbing, fire,safety,and a mold issue. I had to live in a hotel for many months and many code inspections had to be arranged. Carlos's kept in touch every day and really cared about us. I have to say that losing my home and things were devastating. I had my days when I was really stressed out and felt hopeless. Carlos has confidence and tenacity. He knows what clients like me feel and always had a positive attitude. I mean they were outstanding from beginning to end and treated us with respect. My home owners insurance agent would say Carlos's Is fighting for you and condo funding to finish the job. He's a good business man and honest. He also adds all the little things you forgot about. Being homeless is not fun and I was in a hotel for almost 7 months mostly because of condo funding this project. I'm not sure that would have happened without all of us fighting for the project to be funded. 3 units in the condo complex were completely destroyed. I trusted him and the process. With his men and my insurance agent also the hotel staff I had every kind of support a senior could ask for. My sister is already going to tell all her friends that she knows someone who does small and big jobs for a good price and with a hell of a team. We could not be happier with the entire experience working with Carlos and his team on our home renovation! We had always wanted to renovate our attic space and when we found out we were pregnant we knew we had to start ASAP. The workmanship was of a good quality, and all the workers who came in and out for my bathroom remodel were extremely courteous, professional, and made sure to clean up once the job was done. I am rating this as a 3 because of the organization and communication, or lack there of, from the main contractor. Although everyone was very nice, there was little communication of the overall plan or any foreseen delays. we were first told to 4-5 days to install new tiles, fixtures, basin and toilet, shower doors and refinish a tub in about a 3x6 foot bathroom. it took over 10 days and the tub was scratched and the shower door leaked and had to be refinished twice in the process. People would show up unannounced, sometimes for one or two hours, sometimes for a full day. We would have to text and call often to understand what the day's plan was. Despite notifying that we had not planned to be home for a week, the work seemingly continued and we had to alter our plans and stay home for 2 days. Although I am happy with the outcome of the bathroom and the workmanship, the road it took to get there was bumpy. read more

We needed a bathroom renovated and found Alcantara in our neighborhood doing work. Carlos followed up quickly after our initial query and gave us an estimate. The bathroom came out nice and we got quality stuff. The workers were very professional and made sure to clean up once their job was done. I'm sure we aren't the first customers of any contractor to wish the work had been done in a more timely fashion but it was done to our satisfaction. It is probably due to how busy Carlos and his crews are that the level of communication was not a little better than we wished it would have been but it was always very professional and in the end satisfying. Our basement flooded a bit. Insurance company had a company come out to dry the water and cut out and mildewed wall parts. They ended up taking out a piece out of one wall, and removing a bookcase and the baseboard from three walls. We hired Alcantara to reinstall the baseboard, the bookshelf, and replace the drywall that had been cutout and of course paint. We also had them paint a small child's bookshelf and replace the baseboard in another bathroom and paint that wall. They did great work. Very professional, prompt response from the first call. I had one point person to deal with, Marcelino, who was very responsive and courteous. The contractors they sent in to do each part of the job was professional and nice and worked fast. I also had them clean up a small bit of tile that was damaged and they did an excellent job on that as well. I've already asked for an estimate on a plumbing job I need done. Would've put 5 stars but I did have to ask them to paint the whole wall in the bathroom whereas I hoped that would have been done initially rather than doing a spot treatment, and I had to ask them to paint a wall they accidentally stained by leaning the child bookshelf against it. And again, one mention of my expectation and they met it with no hassle. read more

We had a fence dividing our neighbor's and our fence that was blown over. After months of having no one call us back, we eventually found Alcantara. Carlos got back to us same day, saw the fence the next day, and Alcantara had it done within a week. They even came back to add some reinforcement screws the following day, even though the problem wasn't visible and they could have easily ignored it. He discouraged some items that would have just made him money and was honest about costs. The workmanship in respecting the elements of an old home showed in repairing and restoring glass doorknobs to their prior elegance while still bringing modern touches to our home has been an amazing transformation. Small detail items didn't go unnoticed such as to where to center the bathroom vanity which makes a difference for the size constraints in our small bathroom. He's responsive on calls and was willing to work with us when we changed our mind or added extra work. The carpentry and painting skills of his crew are incredible.
