We had a great experience with Matt Construction. Every day they arrived and carefully laid down paper so that they wouldn't mark up the floor and then carefully took it up at the end of the day, really worked hard to make the house as livable as possible for us while the work was going on. The on-site manager, Jonathan, was great, and they gracefully and quickly responded to additional requests and changes of plans we requested, including entirely changing one of the windows. Even our neighbor reached out to tell us how nice and respectful they were and asked us how we found them. The answer is that I just saw that they were well-reviewed on Yelp, so I'm adding my review here too. Their pricing was very reasonable, and their work was exceptional. They replaced a shower system, which involved breaking existing tile and seamlessly re-tiling the affected section after the new shower was installed. During the process, they covered the opening with plastic so we could continue using the shower (even though it only took a couple of days). The re-tiled area blends perfectly with the rest of the shower (see attached pic). You'd never know it was repaired. They also repaired significant water damage from burst pipes, replacing and adding insulation and drywall, installed recessed lighting with dimmers, replaced a window and glass shower doors, swapped out an awkward set of swinging bathroom doors for a proper door, and took care of several long-overdue household repairs. Everything was completed quickly, quietly, and efficiently. If we ever need renovations in the future, we'll definitely be using them again. read more

Most of the explanation from the owner is not accurate. Only communicated in 8/21. The company never followed up on sending an electrician to estimate the electrical work. The quote I received was incomplete (later) for electrical work!!!! Bottom line here, I also have texts and email that were not responded to or ignored, in spite of specifically ask Matt the owner if he is interested in taking the job. He said yes. Matt Construction recently completed a renovation and addition to my home in Wayland, MA. I am extremely pleased with the company's work. I am an architect- and know many contractors. I chose to work with Matt Construction because I have worked with his company in the past and have had good results. But this is the first time that I had him work on my own house. I had a very compressed schedule- and would be living in the house during the construction. Matt and his team were very understanding of my budget, schedule and living situation and work began as soon as I received a building permit. Within a month we had a new foundation and shell completed and had mechanical, electrical and plumbing subcontractors ready to work. As budget was a huge concern, I worked with Matt to negotiate prices with subcontractors and vendors and to make financially sound decisions. Matt and his team texted me regularly to let me know about scheduling and also to make sure that I did my part to be ready for when workers arrived on site. We started the job in late spring and was 95% finished by early fall. The work was done fast, good quality workmanship, and even ore importantly great follow up. Every job has issues- but I am especially impressed when a builder is responsive and returns promptly to address problems as they arise. Again, I am an architect that specialized in residential design and construction, so I feel qualified to assess the competence of a builder. After I discovered the stairs leading out of our basement bulkhead were decrepit, I contacted Matt Construction about the possibility of replacing them with something more resistant to water. Matt and his team are awesome and did a serious renovation for my house in Cambridge. They were placed in an exceptionally hard position having to fix literally everything the other contractor did wrong and then do it all over. They had to build a new handcrafted kitchen island, redo all the kitchen backsplash and counters, build a fireplace into a load bearing wall that did not have a gas line, as well as fix all the HVAC work that was done improperly before. Matt and his team performed with the utmost quality and hard work, while also being quick to finish. These guys provide the best quality, are fully permitted and Cambridge likes them because of that.
