As always, First Watch delivered a great experience. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. My husband and I had a good laugh when she asked if we wanted separate checks at the end of our meal. On one occasion, I personally witnessed her throw what I understood to be a deceased person's ashes into the trash based on an assumption she made. I found this behavior extremely disrespectful and inappropriate. I have also observed her appearing heavily intoxicated while at the establishment, which I believe reflects poorly on the business and raises concerns about professionalism and management. Due to these concerns, I plan to contact Human Resources to formally report what I have witnessed and request that these matters be reviewed appropriately.

Menus given, drink order taken, all within 5 minutes of arrival. The service was friendly and our hot food came out in less than 10 minutes. All tasty, and DGS was delighted by the pancakes. I must say, they were indeed superior to IHOP's. He decided he doesn't like sausage patties but I enjoyed their smoky flavor. The bacon was slightly undercooked for me but standard for restaurant and I didn't specify crispy so that was my bad. I had one kind of sad moment when I realized I should have brought my own pure maple syrup. Theirs is better than some, at 50% maple syrup and 50% "restaurant syrup", which is largely high fructose corn syrup. But still. The only slight hitch was when our server kind of vanished ... and never came back. DGS said he heard someone saying their name near the restrooms when he went, so maybe they were summoned by management, who knows? Regardless, the helpful cashier was able to pull up my order when I told her the server's name and where we sat, so I could pay the check. I'm OK with it costing slightly more for our monthly dates, because the food quality was much better. And I guess it isn't too far to go since it makes DGS so happy!
