What a cute place!!! Loved all the cute kittens and the cats I wanted to take all of them home, all were adoptable except the kittens. They have tasty drinks and even some pastries to snack on. It's free to watch through the windows or $12 for an hour . Plenty of street parking available . Highly recommended, fridays from 5-7 over 18 only
I love their perfect pistachio latte! It's my go-to drink whenever I go here. I would recommend that you do a 60 minute reservation rather than a 30 minute reservation. There is sometimes walk-in availability, but you never know when the cat cafe will be booked! I love that they partner with local rescues and shelters to spotlight adoptable cats and kittens! Make sure you put in an application quickly if you meet a cat that you would like to adopt. The cats and kittens (especially kittens) end up with adoptions pending quite quickly. 10AM-1PM all ages 1PM-3PM 13 years and up 5PM-CLOSE 18 years and up Make sure you book your reservation in a time that works for all ages of your reservation so that you are not disappointed. The major rule is to not pick up cats to prevent injuries to the cats and yourself.
How did I miss reviewing Nine Lives Cat Cafe?!? It's super artsy and funky and has a TON of merchandise for cat lovers and art lovers and, yeah, jean jacket lovers. I didn't have time to go and visit the cats, but I will next time I'm there. The pastry I had wasn't anything to write home about, but that's not why you visit in the first place, is it? Just there to support the cats and the good people who love them.
This was a great birthday treat from my daughter and granddaughter. Although it wasn't our first visit I think it was our best visit. All the kitties in their cat room were super friendly and loving. It was a very Zen experience. They also had the kitten room open on this visit and wow how special! They were friendly too and couldn't wait to visit with each new human and get some cuddles. This is a great way to have a drink and visit. Of course if you are shopping for a new fur baby you can complete some adoption papers while you're there. We already have three but this is just a great way to enjoy an afternoon with some furry cuddles and help support their adoption efforts.

I can't speak for the food or the drinks because we came here to see the cats! We brought a small group of special needs adults who were excited to see the cats. Some of the adults were too shy to go in and spend time with the cats so they sat outside in the cafe and watched through the big window while some of the others went in to visit with the cats. There are two rooms of cats. One room, the first room, has the kittens. And the second room has the slightly older cats. One of the staff comes in with you and can tell you all about the cats. I believe all if the cats are up for adoption. The cats are all very interested to see people and it's a great way to get them accustomed to being around people before they go to their forever homes. The adults loved it! One of our adults got the biggest kick out of the "boss cat" named "Squidward!" It was an adorable experience.
This is very popular over in Asia so to have one right here in fountain square is just what we needed! Definitely a great option for a date night, or play date. They have two rooms and usually keep the kitties away from the adults. Plenty of toys to interact with the cats. They also have a store front of art, plushies, jewelry and much more! They do serve coffee, tea and pastries. It's not my favorite coffee plus it's a bit pricey for the quality. If anything the tea and pastries are what I would spend my money on. But most importantly the cafe is supporting kitties that are in need of a loving home. So if you are looking to adopt this would be my recommendation!

My daughter really loves cats but she cant have one because Im allergic so this was a perfect little spot. There are some forever cats that live there and the rest are a rotation of cats to be adopted. We were hoping there would be some kittens but there weren't any for our visit. She still had a nice time and I sipped some coffee while she played. I also liked that they sell the cat themed artwork hanging in the cafe.
Great local place that has helped over 1,100 cats find good homes. Drinks are tasty. I recommend the "Cafe Meow," but the salted caramel truffle latte is pretty amazing.
As a college student more than four hours away from home, it's easy to miss certain aspects of life off campus. One area of my home life that I always miss are my pets: two tabby cats named Kitty and Jimmy. I would often enjoy getting home from high school and being able to play with them for a while before starting my homework. It's a simple aspect of my life that has been missing since arriving in Indianapolis. Therefore, when I learned the Nine Lives Cat Cafe in Fountain Square existed, I was fully on board to give it a try. My girlfriend and I attended the cafe in February of this year and my first impression of the building was how organized it was. To the left of the front door was the cafe itself with a merchandise area just beyond it. The waiting area was complete with some tables and a barstool wall where you could peer into the cat's domain while you enjoyed your food or drink. At the counter, you could also fill out the waiver at a convenient touchpad if you didn't want to pull up the link on your phone. To the right of the front door was the entrance to the cat area, which was smartly separated from the rest of the cafe. To not only prevent a kitten escaping the shop but also the spread of germs, there was a separate section of doors between the cat area and rest of the cafe (with hand sanitizer included). The cat area itself offered two rooms: one for kittens and one for older cats. This layout gave us plenty of cats to interact with throughout our 30-minute time frame. In addition to the main attraction, both my girlfriend and I tried some of their specialty iced lattes. The pistachio one had great flavor. Overall, the trip to the cat cafe helped me forget about all the responsibilities with school I had looming on my mind. Being able to hold and interact with cats while grabbing a morning coffee was a phenomenal experience I would recommend to anyone looking for a way to break up a constant morning routine.

Make sure to make a reservation before coming otherwise I don't think you can enter. It cost about $12. They have a cafe as you enter and then a separate room for the kittens and cats. They had a lot of kittens when we went and a lot of them were going to homes within the day or two, which is great! I didn't get anything from the cafe so I can't speak on the quality and taste but the rest of the experience was fun and I'm glad to have gone.
Nine Lives adapted this cool concept from Japanese culture where the store collaborates with local shelters to help families connect with the cats to find their forever homes. You can make a reservation online, over the phone or if you walk-in you can fill out the paperwork and wait for a spot to spend time with the cats. When you enter the space, it is divided by two rooms down the middle. The main entry has a viewing counter along with lots of local artists cat art on the wall and a café to order drinks. After paperwork has been filled out, you can enter the second room where the cats are located. You can spend about an hour playing and socializing with the cats. I only went to the store today to look at some art since I have a friends birthday coming up and wanted to get a cute cat portrait. I've visited in the past to spend time with the cats and have had a great time.

Whenever I'm stressed and need to relax, I always go to Nine Lives Cat Cafe. I'm a college student without a car, so I can't frequently go off campus. But when I do, my first choice is here. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming. They'll answer any questions you have about the location or the cats themselves. Some cat cafes offer merchandise, but this location has way more than I've ever seen anywhere. Firstly, the food. Their menu is accessible online, so you can check ahead of time if you've got dietary restrictions. They have pastries, coffees, teas, bobas and more. I will say, in my experience, the pastries tend to run out very quickly. My go-to is the hot-chocolate, but I've also enjoyed the chai and English breakfast tea. Other than food, they offer a lot of cat-themed merchandise like clothes, magnets, jewelry, pins, and art. I purchased a pair of earrings in the past and they've held up well! I would absolutely recommend booking on the website before going. While you may get lucky for an open spot, don't expect one. The website is very clean and easy to navigate. The hours are clearly listed, along with explanations on which times to come depending on what you're looking for. In the morning and early afternoon, all ages are allowed and their cats are the most active. The afternoon is 13+, and nighttime is adults only. The cats are much calmer during these times. It also looks like they're opening up a "study night" for students! Finally, there's the main attraction, the cats. The main room is filled with cats-some playful, some calm, perfect for everyone. There are plenty of toys and places to sit, along with structures just for the cats in case they need to hide away. In addition, they have a kitten room, which is something I've never seen before in a cat cafe. It's a room with just kittens, as well as a big television that plays bird videos for them. You can also look into adopting cats after attending. There are lots of great cats looking for homes-there's a big binder you can look through with information on lifestyle, temperament, etc. I would absolutely recommend Nine Lives Cat Cafe to any cat lovers in Indianapolis. read more

This was our second visit, and we thoroughly enjoyed our hour with the cats and kittens. Nine Lives is well organized, clean, and team members provide clear instructions to make for a good visit. Plenty of cat toys and ways to interact and play. PS wear casual clothes and have a lint roller in your car for afterward. read more

So I'm giving this place a 5/5 because the code was amazing!! I got a mocha with vanilla cold foam and oat milk and it was soo good. I loved the flavor of the coffee and the fact that it didn't taste too much like chocolate it was such a good balance. Also you can play with kittens here and adopt them! So definitely go support this place! read more

Nine Lives Cat Cafe is a meow-velous space. (I had to. ) From the funky cat themed artwork on the walls (and for sale!) to the delightful drink menu and special treats, this is a little shop I'm happy to visit. And that's not even talking about the actual cats! I still haven't spent dedicated time inside the cat room yet, but I enjoy that it even exists. One of these days... I tried the house blend tea today--Catnip or Catnap is the name... can't remember which the menu said. It's a blackberry mint tea with catnip in it. When they said that, I felt like I had to try it! I had mine as a tea latte with almond milk (medium size was about $5.50). I liked it (like 3ish star level). It was light, mainly tasting of the blackberry, and it did had the soothing vibe that they mentioned catnip has in humans. I'd like to try it iced eventually, but it probably won't be my first choice of tea here, so that may take me awhile. Regardless, it was a pleasant little late afternoon drink! Note on space: it's small inside and tables are limited. There wasn't much room to social distance from other tables and it did get busy for a bit. (Though most people went to the cat room after ordering their drinks, which helped!) Masks are currently required when you're not eating/drinking. Looking forward to my next visit to Nine Lives! read more

I recently visited Nine Lives Cat Café with my daughter and her family. Adults were enjoying coffee in cat mugs, while children had colorful smoothies. Kittens and cats were mingling, playing, or napping in the various cat cubbies. I returned a few days later, had a delicious iced white mocha and Jojo, a 3 year old tortie, picked me. She had made her way from an overcrowded shelter, to a different shelter, to the Café, and is now in her furever home. Highly recommend the Café if you're in the mood for a hot beverage, a smoothie, yummy pastries, etc. and/or adorable felines. The cat paintings and gifts were impressive! A good place to shop for any cat lovers in your life. The staff was absolutely wonderful! This place is a treasure. read more

So amazing they have 2 rooms one with kittens and one with adults its nice (u can switch back and forth)for if u want to visit one specific age food and drinks were good and lived the art and of course the cats are adoptable and it was only $11 per person in the website wasnt bad and they allow walk ins and reservations will def visit again read more

My boyfriend and I were in town and were super excited to go to a cat cafe. We were actually the only ones in there. For our first time at one we felt the staff was quite quiet. The guy behind the counter was fairly new and had minimal recommendations from the menu. Fair. We both had coffee. I personally like my drinks sweet & that's what it wasn't. The cleanliness of the cafe on the other hand is definitely an opportunity. It looked a lot cuter on the site than it did in person. The kittens were all super friendly! We were in there for half an hour & over all spent about $25-$30. read more
Such a cool way to get cats adopted!!! You can do walk ins but if you want to insure your spot I'd RSVP online. We went at noon and most of the cats were sleeping, but there was two or three cats to fawn over which was nice. The employee in there was friendly and knowledgeable about each cat. The shop was pretty cute, although I feel like the $4 cookie was a bit much, but people usually like to mark up vegan stuff. It was a big hearty cookie though. I didn't taste much of it as i was sneaking it in between masked conversation, but i remember it had oats and was thick. It also had some kind of dried fruit but i can't really remember tasting it. They also had little stickers and those squishy cat belly things along with some merch. That's not why i came anyway though! The cat room was super cute with lots of fun toys and little places for cats to sleep. They had rules in place that were respectful of the cats autonomy and even have a designated hour around 1pm where children aren't allowed so the cats can rest peacefully. It's about $10 an hour for the cat room, $20 if you go at quiet time which is the kid free time. They have really interesting cat art all over the walls too that is for sale. Overall it's a really cozy place. They even brought our order out to use in the cat room. There's a cute string of little Polaroids of all the adopted out cats. I use to work as a cat comforter for a local shelter and it's really nice to see cats actually being relaxed and showing their personalities instead of scared and cramped as they usually are in shelters. read more

Do you love cats? Do you love coffee? Well, just found the perfect place!! Nine Lives Cat Cafe is a tiny little place in Fountain Square that is a cat lovers paradise. You walk into the Cafe and it's broken into two main spaces. The first is the beverage area and the second is the "Cat Room". You can order essentially any coffee beverage that you could think of as you wait for your allotted time in the cat room! When you enter the cat room, you are welcome to take your jackets and purses off to hang in the entryway. You then make your way through the double doors and get to hang out with all of the cats! The cats at the Cat Cafe are all up for adoption, so you have free reign to play and get to know the cats! When we went, there were around 12-15 cats in the cat room, around 7 of those being younger cats/kittens and around 6 of them being adult cats. We were in the cat room with four other individuals but there was more than enough space to social distance. I loved just sitting on the ground and letting the kittens zoom around me! It was so fun to watch them play with each other and with the various toys they had around the room. I was excited to see that one of the couples in the room with us decided to adopt a cat at the end of the session! Though there is a cost to reserve a time, all of the proceeds go towards the Cat Cafe! This place is great for a chill hangout with some cool felines, I will definitely be back again in the future! Pro-Tip: Reserve your cat room time online instead of walking in! During the mid-day, times are pretty open, but when people start getting off work the times really fill up. Reserve your time online before going to make sure that you don't miss out on a spot! read more

First time venturing down to Indianapolis, and of course it was for the cat cafe! Location: I'm not too familiar with the city, but it was quite a maze getting there via Maps. There was a parking lot behind the building, but none of the spaces seemed to be for Nine Lives. Fortunately it's a residentialish area, so I found some street parking. Food & Drink: I didn't have a sweet, but they looked pretty tasty! I did have a kitten-sized (love the sizes!) Cafe Meow, which was unique (to me) and delicious. I would like to note that for this cafe, your drink isn't included in your reservation fee. Cats: So cute! The kittens started off sleepy but got more playful as time went on, and even the adult kitties became interested in playtime! I'll definitely do a return visit if I'm ever in the Indy area again (yes, I did go specifically for the cafe... I'm addicted)! To anyone thinking about paying a visit, all cat cafes have different rules, and this one asks that you not disturb sleeping cats. However, that doesn't mean you can't play with a cat toy yourself... which might get a kitty's attention. read more

This is such a friendly and nice neighborhood spot going towards a great cause. You can come just for treats and drinks at their cafe, or reserve a time slot to play with the cats. It is so impressive that over 1000 cats have been adopted here. You can also get cute stationary items and artwork, cat themed of course. You can feel good about supporting this cafe and cause. They also have seasonal drinks that looked very good, but I just got an espresso. The staff are very friendly and passionate here. read more

I have a child who loves cats, and he wants a cat really badly ... but we're not getting a cat (sorry, kid). But I love my child and want to support the things he loves, so I'm very happy that I found Nine Lives Cat Cafe, because now my child can be around cats and pet cats and love on cats while I smile and drink coffee. I love this place because not only do they have kitties here that you can pet and play with, but they also adopt out all of the cats. So, if you fall in love with a kitty during your visit, you can take him home with you! I was told that there is a high turnover here (the cats only stay a week or two before going to forever homes), which makes me happy. Although while the cats are living at Nine Lives, their digs are really cool. There are lots of toys to play with, boxes to sit in, and tall places to escape to where they can ignore humans. The people who work here are also really knowledgeable about cats and their first priority is to make sure the cats (and people) are safe and comfortable. In fact, before you step into the cat area, they talk to you about the rules to ensure that everyone has a good visit (and no one gets scratched). I would visit Nine Lives just for the kitties, but this place is super awesome because it's also a coffee shop! I got a black coffee, and it was great. I also treated my child to a vegan cupcake, and he loved it. (The only kind of cupcakes they offered were vegan, but they were actually pretty good!) I'm so glad this cat cafe exists! We will definitely be back frequently. read more

This place is so cool!! Great for families and their coffee is amazing! Hands down best cold brew we've had. The honey syrup is delicious with it. The owners are a super sweet couple who have done a fantastic job with the ambience and feel of this cafe. We'll be back for sure. read more

This is such a great idea to get exposure for adoptable rescued cats. Not only does it socialize and provide a home for the cats, but also allows customers to decide if they'd want to adopt them first hand! I loved it here-- my allergies did not--but totally worth it to hang with all these adorable kitties. It's awesome that they have documented all of their adoptions over the years with polaroids strung up along the walls. I will definitely come back here, such a serotonin boost! Some kittens had just arrived yesterday and were only a few months old. read more
