Highlights: + They have cats, so if you need a serotonin boost, a visit is a must +The cafe offers a handful of snack (even a gluten free option) and your typical cafe offerings. There is high top seating that has a perfect view into the cat room, as well as a few low top tables +They do offer a handful of cat themed items for purchase +the cat room is geared entirely towards the cats. There are tons of toys and places (high/low) that offer them to either be out in the open or a hole that offers them to escape and feel secure. There is also a room where their litter boxes are that also provides places for them to escape to and not interact with visitors if they do not wish to + There is always staff in the room to make sure to monitor the interactions with the cats and human visitors, enforce the simple rule to not actually pick up the cats (sadly some people truly can't understand this one), and answer any questions that might have +They rotate which rescues they work with. Also, they act as a safe space to interact with the cats, so adoptions, while they may be initiated through them, they don't actually approve you or take the fees for the cats. + Reservations are recommended as they do limit the number of individuals per time period. Smitten Kitten is super cute! The cafe has a nice variety of drinks, plus some cat themed bakery items and even some sealed allergen-friendly (gluten free) cookies and brownies. They're not the best I've ever had, but having a great option is nice! I've had some dairy free chai and matcha lattes here and both were good! The cat room is accessible for $10 per half hour. This seems to be about the going rate for this type of experience now, though it feels a little pricey to me. (Maybe because I remember visiting a cat cafe years ago for $5 per half hour.) Both times I've visited in the past year, on weekdays, it wasn't crowded human-wise and there were plenty of cats! One visit, I mostly watched them and chatted with the attendant. One cat crept onto my lap and purred while I pet her on the couch. The other, there were playful cats about and my mini BFF and I were able to use some of the cat toys for most of the visit. Both experiences were great! The bathroom has been clean both visits. There are fun extras like cat figurines and cat ear headbands you can purchase. I know they do events here like yoga with cats, but I haven't been to any of those yet. If you sign up for their email list, they send updates with all the events they do and it's fun to see everything they put together! I took my daughter there today and loved it. We drove from Greenwood to experience the Smitten Kitten Cat Cafe and it did not disappoint. We grabbed a snack and coffee while we waited for our reservation time. We bought the hour long pass and it was just the right amount of time to spend time with each cat there. I just love all of the amenities they have for the cats to enjoy from a large tree in the center of the room to scratchable furniture and hideaways. They usually foster about 15-20 from local shelters to adopt out. So the cats are not roaming in the main coffee shop part, although you can see them through the glass. Silly me. I thought that visiting a cat cafe would curb my family's yearning for a cat. (We are NOT getting a cat.) I thought that maybe we could visit, pet some cats, and just leave all of our kitty cravings at the cafe. Wrong! Now my family wants a cat more than ever. My plan backfired, but I totally get it. Cats are actually pretty awesome, and the cats we met at Smitten Kitten Cat Cafe were also awesome. It's triply awesome that this place exists, so that people can pets cats. And quadruply and quintuply amazing that a place like this exists so that hopefully cats can find forever homes. Smitten Kitten Cat Cafe is a cafe, as the name suggests, in that you can visit to get a cup of coffee or a sweet treat. You can lounge in the cafe with your coffee and observe the cat sanctuary behind glass for free. But if you want to visit with the cats in person, then you will need to pay $10 for 30 minutes, and $18 for one hour. We made reservations online, which is recommended, because this cat cafe gets busy! Lots of people want to visit with the cats. It was easy to book a reservation online, though. They are super punctual here with reservation times, so make sure you're here on time. The cats in the sanctuary are all up for adoption, so if you fall in love with a kitty, you can apply to adopt. There's a binder inside the sanctuary that gives more info about each cat, including their name, age, likes and dislikes, health concerns and price to adopt. It seems like the younger, healthier cats are priced a little more than the older cats. During our 30-minute visit, we fell in love with a pretty kitty named Susie. Like I said, we are NOT getting a cat, but it was fun to love on Susie and all of the other cats for a half hour. Petting cats is a very calming activity. Smitten Kitten also offers cat yoga, which is exactly as it sounds: yoga inside the cat sanctuary! Our 30 minutes with the cats flew by! This is a great unique activity for animal-loving kids, because it's well supervised by many staff members, and there is a time limit. (So I don't have to be the bad person. "I'm sorry, sweetie, they're telling us our time is up, so we have to go!") The cats are super-duper well-taken-care-of at Smitten Kitten Cat Cafe, and I wouldn't hesitate to adopt from this rescue. What an unexpectedly fun experience! I booked a reservation online for a 30 minute visit. When we walked in, we were instantly greeted and provided instructions before going into the cat area. The cats are secluded away from the cafe. They are completely different sections. No cat hair in your coffee! The cats are well cared for and the space is invitingly clean. Once our time was up, we washed our hands and indulged in some coffee. Very nice coffee options. A huge menu for anyone to find something they would like. Extremely disappointed with this visit. This cafe overfills the reservation group, so that there is not enough room for us all to sit in the cat area. A lot of the other people in my group were standing awkwardly around for the whole visit. AGAIN there was a kid who was chasing down cats with a toy. He wasn't so bad to begin with, and his mom kept him in check at first. He was simply being annoying and waving the toy around at cats that were sleeping. But towards the end, he was sprawled out on the floor shoving a toy under the couch in the face of a cat who was clearly frightened and trying to hide from him. I watched, in shock, hoping someone would say anything... but no. Nothing. In fact, the mother encouraged him to continue the behavior, hoping that the cat would come out. That's when I left the cafe 10 minutes earlier than my appointment window. Just wow. read more

I'm thrilled to see Hamilton County finally get a cat cafe! Smitten Kitten is partnered with the Hamilton County Humane Society and can accommodate up to 20 cats. They hand select the cats, since not every kitty would enjoy the stimulating environment. There were about 8-10 cats when I visited, and each was so calm and friendly. I highly recommend making reservations online, especially if you visit on a weekend. You'll check in at the front if you have a cat room reservation. It's $10 for 30 minutes, and the proceeds go toward the care of the cats. You can also make an hour-long reservation if you want more time! You're not allowed to pick up the cats, and you're asked to use "inside voices" and be gentle, but otherwise you are welcome to pet the cats, play with them, etc. The staff are friendly and willing to answer any questions about the cats. There are multiple binders laying around that have each cat's profile. If you are interested in adopting, scan a QR code to fill out an adoption application. Then, notify a cat cafe employee, who will call the Humane Society to let them know to review your application ASAP. If approved, you need to drive to the Humane Society (about 1.5 miles away) to finish the paperwork and then voila - you can take home your new friend! Smitten Kitten has been open 35 days and has already adopted out 49 cats. Yes, that's at least one cat per day! If you don't have a cat room reservation, the cafe offers coffee and tea beverages as well as pastries. There is a counter seating that faces the cat room, so you can watch the cats through the glass. Note: you are welcome to bring your beverage into the cat room, but all food must be consumed in the cafe. When I visited on a Saturday, there were more people in the cat room than cats, so I didn't get much 1:1 time with any of the felines. But, glad to see cats are being adopted so quickly. If you are a cat lover you will really get this place We stopped in for a coffee drink and snack. Not big choice of either. The drip coffee was good. But the cats were so special. They had us laughing and everyone in the shop was talking to each other. Pointing out cats (one was in the rafters) and watching staff members and an interested cat adoptee frolicking with the animals. 1/2 of the shop is a playroom for the cats. It is spotless and the cats seem so happy. They say in the past month they have helped at least 60 cats get new homes They work with the Hamilton County rescue organization. They provide a book of available felines and pictures as well as names. It is a great place to enjoy. The atmosphere is light and welcoming. Super cute kitten cafe and coffee was fantastic too! I got a Vanilla Latte with half and half milk and it was REALLY good. We reserved a 30min spot with the cats online for $7/person. I'd recommend arriving 10-15min early so you have time to order coffee, go through the waiver and orientation, and use your entire 30min. They do request you leave right at the end of the 30min as scheduled. The kittens are super cute and there's lots of toys/brushes to interact with them. I love the concept of cat cafes and that there is now one on the south side of Indianapolis. We stopped by without an appointment to see the cafe (you'll want to schedule an appointment in advance online). We purchased drinks from the cafe and watched the cats play while we enjoyed them. We tried an iced latte and lemonade with boba, both were great! When you arrive someone greets you to ask if you have an appointment for the cat area. That cat and cafe areas are separated by a glass wall. It is $10 for 1/2 to visit the cats, or $20 for an hour. It's a bit pricey, but proceeds do go to the Humane Society. We decided to book a visit here to celebrate my birthday since it's my definitly a cat person. It's a great place to visit especially if you are interested in adoption. They have a nice coffee and tea shop as you enter if you'd like a snack. You can watch the cats through a large glass window or better still book a time slot to go in and visit with the cats. You can book a time slot ahead of time and pay is by the half hour. They also have a little gift area in the lobby beside the coffee bar. They were friendly and looked very healthy. I came in on their opening day. I have been looking forward to this cafe opening! For being their opening day, I would say they killed it! We reserved an hour to spend time with the kitties. Reservations are HIGHLY encouraged as only so many people are allowed to go in at once, however the cafe part is come and go as you please. They have free Wi-Fi and serve local coffee and pastries. They also have super cute merchandise for sale. The cat room has several areas you can sit at, however I found the floor the best and just waited for the cats to come to me. There are small lockers inside the room to put your stuff in. Each cat inside the room is adoptable through Hamilton county humane society. Loved seeing a cat cafe finally pop up in Hamilton county! Love the mission of helping to get local cats adopted. The setup was great, the coffee was good and the actually cat facilities were really nice. Some of the pastries were great, some weren't, the Bakewell tart was great, the sugar cookies are I appreciated the lockers insides the cat area but would love to see a diaper changing station in the bathroom. Adults were $10 for 30 minutes but it was a bit confusing if kids had to pay? I could see paying a few dollars for kids under 5, but not the full rate. Just waiting for them to do an annual family membership so I can take my kids there more often. Very personable and answered all of my stupid questions without looking annoyed lol They only allow 15 people at a time to not overcrowd so make sure you make a reservation.
