Attended High Tea at Cheeky Bastards in September. Made reservations via website which worked well. Received calendar reminders and confirmation. Had a choice of loose leaf teas and cocktails. I enjoyed a Pimm's Cup with Pimm's liqueur and elder flower which was delicious. The tea tray included scone with jam and clotted cream, crust less tea sandwiches (egg salad, beef and cheddar, Queen's coronation chicken salad, and pesto with feta. Hand made sweets included a chocolate sable biscuit (cookie), raspberry cupcake, apple bar, and fruit bar. Everything was beautiful, fresh, and tasty. 6-28-26 Some couple-friends of ours decided to start a dinner club, and this was our choice for our first gathering. I was looking forward to it, as this has been on my list of places to go, and we haven't been here before. There were supposed to be 10 of us be we ended up being 8 this night. We had reservations, and had the lovely little private room in the back. (The whole restaurant seems just to seat about 20 or so.) Decor is fun & a nod to all things Britsh. We had 7 scotch eggs for the table. They were served cut in half with a mustard hollandaise, and we re scrumptious. Around the table, we had a variety of beers nda cocktails. I asked the server to pair me a white to go with my fish & chips, and asked for anything except Moscato. They sent a sauvignon blanc that was perfect. My friend next to be had a bloody Mary that was definitely Instagram worthy (see pics). The menu is fairly extensive, but most of us ordered either the fish & chops or the steak & Guinness pie (like a shepherd's pie). Glad I made reservation for 6:45pm dinner on Valentine Day because this place was packed. When we arrived we were taken to our table right away. The restaurant had such amazing British vibes with tea sets decoration in the walls and corners, a lot of British posters and arts, was amazing vibes. The menu had few of British style bites and sandwiches, but there was an extensive list of teas and coffees. We started with the delicious beef Wellington bites. Crispy outer layer and soft meat inside. For entree we got Banger burger and Birmingham cheesesteak. Both were sooo good. The bread was toasted but soft. The steak was so juicy mixed with caramelized onions and cheese. It would give the Philly cheesesteak a good competition. At the we had the vanilla ice cream that was also creamy and super tasty. Loved the lavender lemonade as well. Our server Amanda was incredible. Her provided an amazing friendly service. All other staff members were very nice too, taking empty plates out of our tables whenever they were walking by. The dishes came out within short time. We live in the neighborhood so have been to Cheeky Bastards a number of times and I confidently say they have the best fish and chips and scotch eggs I've ever had! Their shepherd's pie is amazing too! This is a family-owned smaller restaurant that has a wonderful atmosphere and great service too. They serve tradition English meals and beverages and have worked hard to make sure everything is authentic as possible. If you want to go on a weekend or holiday, I encourage you to make reservations and if you want to go on a Friday during Lent, expect to make reservations a couple of weeks out! We've never had a bad experience, and the owners and staff are just the most welcoming, gracious hosts you could ask for. It's like stepping into an English pub without needing your passport! We stopped at Cheeky Bastards one night before Revival, and to my surprise, it was a hit. I was extremely happy that it wasn't busy because we got to sit in the cutest tea room environment and even ask a bunch of questions. The servers and co-owner were such a joy and as friendly as possible. We had a great time, and I will be back for repeat business when I'm in the area. I am also considering one of their afternoon teas--I'm sure it will be fun. I ordered the fish sandwich and was pleased. I had to cut it in half to eat it, and it was the perfect size. The fish was flaky, and the tartar sauce was amazing. I added a little bit of vinegar, and that sandwich was on and poppin'--it was a little food party in my mouth! We went for afternoon tea on Mothers'a day. Normally they are closed Sundays except for Mother's Day. I had the buckingham chai tea and it was so flavorful. I would go back just for that. The tea has a set menu. We received 4 small crustless sandwiches.an Irish tea bread, a blueberry mini Bundt, a small strawberry shortcake and a cookie .and a couple of other pieces of deliciousness that I can't remember. The food was very good. Service was excellent. Our server was actually the owner. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated with a British theme and the ladies room ceiling and wall are decorated with pink roses. Very fun. My only complaint and the reason I didn't give it 5 stars is there is no deviation on the food. I personally do not like egg salad nor does my daughter but they wouldn't change it when she called and asked if they could sub something or make two of something instead. Maybe offer the same sandwiches but let people pick how many of each??? Anyway, very good. The food was excellent and the tea was divine. Their regular menu looked interesting so I will try that next. But I will be back for afternoon tea soon. read more

Update: I had to drop my rating a bit as the Shepherd's Pie was just not very good. The pie mixture was just too rich in flavors and took away from the goodness of the ingredients. The Parmesan cheese on top just didn't fit. Unfortunate for me as I love Shepherd's Pies. The Beef Wellington bites: although they were delicious and I love the mustard it was served on... the portion of beef inside was minuscule. It was less than 1/2" square, super thin and $19.50 that is way too much. I've had the Beef Wellington at Gordon Ramsay's for just about double the price, it came with sides and was a meal. At least 400 times more beef than this. I see complaints about slow service but I have never experienced that here (3 visits). Always fast and today's service was freaky fast. As in we ordered the Wellington Bites and she brought them out before she took our food order. The decor is very tastefully done. Except where Cheekiness is intended. Ha ha. My wife got the Cheeky Cheesesteak Pocket and my son got the Birmingham Cheesesteak. Both were very good, fries were delicious and their house made ketchup is super good. We love to eat here when in town at least once per year. Today we were looking to get out, go for a drive to eat somewhere and decided to drive straight here from the other side of the Louisville, KY area. Had a wonderful first experience at Cheeky Bastards! My friend had a reservation, and we arrived early. We were seated at a table, and the waitress showed me the Audrey Hepburn space. I was totally in awe. The hostess then offered to move us into that space, and of course we said yes! Everyone on staff was incredibly friendly, and we even got to chat with Hope, the co-owner, who was amazing. I originally ordered the Lavender Lemon Drop, but it wasn't quite for me, so I switched to the Strawberry Cocktail. It was delicious! I also tried the Banger Burger, which came out fresh and hot. Why have I heard people say British food is boring? It's a lie! We recently went to Cheeky Bastards for a birthday dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience! The service, the food, the cocktails, were all top notch! Between the five of us, we sampled a majority of the items on the menu. The fish and chips were delicious, having such a uniquely light and crunchy batter. We also loved the scotch eggs, sausage roll, steak and Guinness pie, and well....everything! And who would've thought mushy peas would be so good? Not me. You'd be hard pressed not to find something on the menu that isn't delicious. We had such a wonderful experience. From the greeting at the door to our wonderful table service it was all great. The choice in tea makes it hard to pick just one. We were very impressed with the choices of sandwiches and pastry. A few months ago we had a Tea Service in Chicago that wasn't half as good as this. The cucumber dill and the egg salad I think were my two favorite sandwiches. The strawberry cookie and the carmel brownie were my two favorite pastries. I got a lemon verbena tea that was really good. We may be back for a special occasion. This visit was just because it was something new to do. Totally recommend if you like tea and a bit of culture. Afternoon tea was started in the UK in 1840 by Anna the seventh Duchess of Bedford. The Queen would get peckish between lunch and dinner. It wasn't till the mid 1880s where it became a wide spread affair. In the home finger sandwiches are typically cut into triangles. In hotel settings they are cut into rectangles. My friend and I went there for a late lunch yesterday. We were greeted by one of the co-owners who sat us at the table. She was very friendly and charming. The other co-owner/chef came to our table and introduced himself and recommended appetizers and entrees. We each had a cocktails that were amazing. This was my first time at a British-themed restaurant. We were met at the door by part-owner Hope. She was very friendly, warm, and welcoming! She treated us like family from the start. She told us a bit about the business and her business partner, Robert. Once seated, she went over items we should try. She visited with us for about ten minutes, explaining menu items and sharing stories about her and the business. It was refreshing to feel like family with a stranger! To start, we ordered the Scottish Eggs, which were delicious. For entrees, we had the fish and chips and Guinness Steak pie! Neither disappointed, and they were fresh, hot, and flavorful. During our meal, the other business owner and Chef Robert visited with us. He told us a bit about himself and told us he only fries in Beef Tallow. For those that don't know, this is phenomenal and very healthy! This is what McDonald's used to fry in the 70's. We had: Peach Bellini- they were tasty. Sausage Roll- it was good, but the sausage to pastry ratio was a little off. Needed more sausage. Bacon Avocado & Egg Bagel- absolutely delicious. I decided to try this place because it had such good reviews, but a lot of things played into making this just an average experience at best. First of all, the food was fine. It was good. Not great, not impressive, but good. Definitely nothing bad about it. No complaints about the taste. I started off with the Scotch Egg, which is kind of hard to find around here. It was very good- cooked perfectly. I'd call it the star of the meal to be honest. The mustard it was served with was good, but I tend to prefer a little bit of hot sauce on my scotch eggs. What was surprising was the price- $12.95 for ONE egg! As good as it was, it wasn't worth $13 for one egg. Price alone would prevent me from buying this again. I had fish and chips for my dinner. It was a basic fish and chips meal, and there was nothing that stood out about it in any way. Would I eat it again? Sure! Could I tell it apart from any other fish and chips I've had? Not really. It was just a middle of the road, good fish and chips meal. One slightly large piece of fish- it was nice and flaky, and the batter wasn't too crispy. It wasn't greasy, which is a plus. For $24.95, I think the portion could be slightly larger. The chips (fries) were ok, but I would have preferred them a little more crispy on the outside. At $25 for one piece of fish, I think they could afford some muslin on their lemon wedges so the customer doesn't have to pick seeds out of their meal. Staff was very nice, and quickly answered the few small questions I had. Drink refills could have come a little bit quicker, but overall not too bad. Finally- the seating. Total deal breaker. It was 20 degrees outside, and they seated me right next to the front door... literally less than 3 feet away from it. I could reach over and touch the door. Every customer who entered or left the restaurant sent an arctic blast across my table. What a terribly uncomfortable dining experience... Common sense should tell the management to remove that table for the season. The food was good, but at that price point I expect it to be at least noticeably above average. Seating a customer 3 feet from the main door on a bitterly cold night was ridiculous. I spent $50 for one slightly large piece of fish, fries, one scotch egg, and water. This would be a great spot to grab coffee if you lived nearby. I decided on the fish sandwich, as I had seen photos of the fish and chips and knew the portion size was large. So glad I finally tried this place! It's very close to where I live, so I pass it all the time. Finally tried it out recently with my husband on a date night. We have been wanting to travel to London for some time now, so this was a great chance to try out some of their food before visiting. We started with the sausage roll (amazing, I wanted another) followed by our main entrees - fish and chips with a side of curry sauce (great tip from another reviewer) and shepherds pie. Man, I could put that curry sauce on everything! The fish was so fresh with a lovely batter and the shepherds pie was packed with hearty lamb. Definitely comfort food! When we dropped in it was just after lunchtime on a Saturday afternoon. I made a quick reservation on OpenTable, and was glad I had, because they continued to get busier as we Waited just a few minutes for our table. Things I loved: -The women's, I mean Queen's, restroom. Fun outing To Cheeky Bastards yesterday - a place that has been on my list for a while but is a little out of the way. We made a reservation for 1 on a Saturday, so that we could order off the brunch or lunch menus. Every staff member was so friendly, and it felt like a real family environment with lots of regulars/repeat customers. Ended up going with the Saint Michael, which was akin to a Rueben, and the fish and chips. Both huge lunch portions and very tasty. Also had a Pimm's Cup and was impressed by the expansive drink menu, including dozens of teas and specialty coffee drinks. Next time! I'd like to come back for dinner to try the scotch eggs, which weren't available until 4 PM. Was honestly expecting more of a traditional 'pub' feel, but the atmosphere was fine and the decor was cool. My Englishman of a husband was delighted when he learned that an English restaurant was coming to Indy. Skeptical, but delighted. We had heard they do a great brunch and offered epic roasts night (there's a Sunday roast every week in England at every restaurant). We gathered a group of eight friends (including another friend from England) and made a reservation. Parking was free and easy, with a lot out front. The lighting inside was cheery and we liked the English flag outside welcoming us in. The team behind the front desk were friendly and we noticed the display of scones for takeout. Yum. They brought us back to a private room which was cool and we were greeted by our server Carl. He did an amazing job at walking us through the story behind the owner (who is also the chef) and his adventures through England. He also walked us through the menu, sharing about all of the homemade items and fun facts like how the fries are cooked in beef tallow like they are in England. So cool and delicious. I loved this backstory of the place and it made it even more special. Every restaurant should do that! We wanted to try so many things, so here's what we got: + Wexford Irish creme ale: Delicious + Chips and curry: One of my favorite items at the table + Sausage roll: Chef said he Americanized it a bit but still great + Scotch egg: Pricey but worth it + Fish & chips: Big and flavorful + Steak & kidney pie: Filet and homemade crust + Sticky toffee pudding: Made in house and delicious but also small and pricey Everything was truly AMAZING. When my husband heard a British restaurant had opened up in Indy, he had to go. And I'm not one to turn down the opportunity to try new food! We were there for the first time for dinner. My husband had the Full Monty, and I had the Fish Sandwich. Both divine! I tried a cocktail of sparkling wine topped with Guinness at the suggestion of our server. I was skeptical, but it was delightful. My husband had a couple English Ales. I also had an Irish Red Ale. As we were eating, the owner/chef was making his way around to talk to diners. When he spoke to us and saw what my husband had ordered, he suggested we come in during the weekend for brunch. So we did! We started with Bloody Marys. So flavorful! We also had the British Chips with Onion Gravy. My tastebuds were dancing! Then, my husband and I shared the Full Monty brunch. This dish includes pretty much anything you think might be in a Scottish breakfast. I was especially excited about the Black Pudding. I was introduced to that in Ireland. Everything was incredible! On both visits, the staff was so friendly, and our servers were helpful. When we were there for brunch, the owner/chef came out to the dining area again. He recognized us and welcomed us back.
