    Baked Spicy Crawfish Roll

Had the pleasure of introducing my friend to Niko Niko for their first time. I love the fact that they always have buy one get one half off. The sushi is a little pricey here however the rolls are huge compared to other spots and the fact that they do offer buy one get one half off, offsets the price I suppose to $15 per roll if you buy two. The service was great didn't get the waitresses name but she was the younger Asian women there. She took care of us making sure we had everything we needed and refilled our waters without us having to ask. Very attentive. The ambiance is your typical sushi restaurant joint. Couple of big screen tvs, open sushi bar and a lot of tables. I imagine this place gets filled up during dinner / lunch time. But thank you Niko Niko for making my friends first time try a great one. Will definitely be back!

3-Item Bento (Chicken Teriyaki, Spicy Tuna Roll, Mixed Sushi)

One of my favorite local sushi spots. I usually come here with my family from time to time whenever we're craving sushi without spending so much. I normally get the 2-item bento, but I was starving this time so I went for the 3-item. I always choose their spicy tuna rolls because they're consistently fresh (I've heard some places use second-day fish for spicy tuna), and I also get the mixed sushi. They do use a lot of rice though, so I usually end up taking some out. I added chicken teriyaki this time too. Pretty standard, nothing amazing. The service is always really friendly and the food comes out fast. We always leave with bellies full and happy.

    Monkey Brain Roll

I came to Niko Niko because I was craving sushi and it was pretty close by so I decided to try it out. They have a pretty expansive menu here and all the rolls were buy 1 get 1 50% off so it ends up being a good deal. I ordered the monkey brain roll which had spicy tuna and seared salmon on a California roll. The roll wasn't really what I expected and was a bit underwhelming but I'm not sure if I just happened to order a bad item and that there's better items in the menu. With that being said, from trying this one item, I'd say that there are better sushi restaurants in the surrounding areas that I'd prefer to go to. The restaurant itself is located in Cerritos Towne Center and has plenty of parking. The store is on the casual side and has a decent amount of seating, but some of the seats were uncomfortably close to each other and I feel like my seat in particular was really close to the walkway where a lot of people passing were accidentally bumping into me. Service is friendly and our food came out in a timely manner.

    Beef/Chicken bowl

Had the Beef/Chicken bowl. Be aware that there's a price/size difference for dine-in/to-go orders. They give you two pieces of broccoli, zucchini and carrots with your rice and meats. The beef was like a teriyaki style and the chicken was also good. For a to-go order the price is worth it. For the dine in option, I think it's too expensive for what you get.

    Popcorn shrimp roll
    Skai B.

The dish was pretty horrible. The sauce had no complimentary addition to the popcorn shrimp roll, as the sauce was warm for one, and it didn't taste too pleasing. The Dark sauce was not rich but a bit sour without much to want you to use more of. The orangish sauce was a bit better in regards to taste, but overall should not be added to such deep fried cuisine. The sushi was so huge making it hard to fit into your mouth showing how the chefs failed to replicate japanese sushi and americanized it. The digestive tract from the shrimp was also not removed making my food even more displeasing. The waiters were nice but the timing of the food coming out was not uniform and this dish took over 20 mins. Overall would not recommend.

    Crunch Roll
    Tina L.

If you're looking for affordable, decent, Americanized Japanese food, then Niko Niko is the place for you. If you're looking for authentic food with great execution and high quality fish, then you are not their target audience. I got their lunch combo; tonkotsu ramen with a crunch roll. My boyfriend order two of their speciality rolls. First thing I noticed was the quantity of food that you get. One roll is the size of two rolls somewhere else. Also the prices are very affordable. Other places that serves similar Americanized sushi charge more than Niko Niko. In terms of the food, it was decent. Obviously the fish isn't the highest sushi grade fish that you're going to get, however, all of the ingredients were fresh. The ramen was also good, again not the best and most authentic, but the flavors worked and it hit the spot. In a way, the sushi here kind of reminds me of a slightly better version of the type of sushi that you would get at a Chinese buffet. Again, it's not authentic and high quality, because this place serves affordable, and Americanized food. The restaurant itself is clean, and has comfortable seating. The staff were also great!

Itty bitty portion of COLD short ribs. $21.50

3/5/25 6:30 pm. SMALL PORTION. Where's the beef? I ordered the short rib plate $21.50 and I was very disappointed with the amount of beef you get for the price. I only came here because Yasai is closed on Wednesdays. COLD FOOD. Finished eating short ribs and other plate ,chicken teriyaki. Temperature literally cool, not hot at all. Mediocre flavor. $37.50 thrown away.

Maxwell does not disappoint --- their garlic ginger sauce is reall good. The rice is also pretty good, just the right amount of chicken flavor without being too salty. I've also tried the fried chicken, and the skin is super crispy and delicious. Pretty unexpected to find good fried chicken at a Hainan chicken place, but it's a nice surprise. You can add a piece of fried chicken to the Hainan chicken plate, which is what I'd recommend. Looks like a lot of people get takeout from here. Mother's Day lunch at Halo Haus Buena Park with almost a 2-hour wait for the food…read more I was excited to check this spot out and going here for lunch with my mom for Mother's Day marked the perfect occasion. I drove all the way from the South Bay to go visit. We arrived around 11:15 a.m., 15 minutes after opening, and there were only 3 other orders ahead of us. All ordering is done through their kiosk. I noticed a sign that said all credit card transactions have a 3% fee. There was also another sign that they accept cash but only $20 bills. I asked to pay in cash to avoid the 3% fee but the employee there said they had just opened and so the register wasn't ready yet. Luckily, I had my debit card via Apple Pay and ended up using that instead. We chose to order the Miki Bihon ($17.95), Crispy Pata ($17.95) , Chop Suey with Chicken ($16.95) and a small scoop of rice ($1.75). I had originally planned to get the Wonton Soup but that was no longer on the menu. Similarly, many other dishes, including all their beef dishes were also unavailable. Our order was placed at 11:24 a.m., and was surprised that we didn't receive our food till about 12:15pm. I noticed there were other tables getting a bit impatient while waiting for their orders as well, but since it was Mother's Day, I figured that that items like Crispy Pata would naturally take longer. At first, I wasn't too frustrated with the 45 minute wait. When our orders came out, I was pleasantly surprised with the large portions of the Miki Bihon and Chop Suey. Tastewise, the Miki Bihon was flavorful, comforting and satisfying. The combination of soft egg noodles and thin rice noodles gave the dish a nice texture. The Chop Suey had a good mix of vegetables, but overall it lacked flavor and tasted a bit bland. It had a decent texture but the seasoning just wasn't there. The Crispy Pata was one of the dishes we came for and were looking forward to having this Mother's Day. It had a nice crisp on the outside, but unfortunately it seemed overcooked, and some parts were tough. Since we experience a bit of a wait for the savory items, my mom advised me to place our dessert order early. I ordered a small Supreme Halo Halo ($6.95). I had originally been eyeing the Mango Graham Halo Halo but similar to how many of the savory dishes were unavailable, this item was also not available. They also only had vanilla ice cream and no ube, unlike what is shown in their menu photos. My order went in at 12:29 p.m., and considering it was just a small halo halo, I did not expect a long wait. I was a bit shocked when it was 1:15 p.m. and my halo halo had not come out yet. I went up to the employee at the counter to inquire about it. She asked for my order number and name, then handed me a receipt. After that, I watched her go into the kitchen and only then started making the halo halo. When she finished and handed me the order, I asked why it took so long, and she mentioned something about how the receipt possibly not coming out of the system. I found this strange and honestly a bit frustrating. If I had not followed up, we likely would have continued to wait for a halo halo that would never have been made due to "receipt not coming through." She even asked if I had taken the receipt, which did not make sense. After the initial 45 minute wait for the savory dishes, another 45 minute wait for dessert felt a bit excessive. Overall, it was a good lunch, but that wait tested us. It was worth it for time with my mom though. I would best describe the visit here as "the good, the bad and the ugly." The good is the portion sizes and the pricing. The bad is that many menu items are not available. The ugly is the wait time. Waiting nearly 2 hours for all the food (45 minutes for the savory dishes and another 45 minutes for the halo halo) is simply too long. The biggest improvement would be their service and wait times.

This dish also comes with a salad. Chicken katsu curry- I ordered it medium, but honestly the curry is on the sweeter side with no heat at all. You also get raisins which makes the curry even sweeter. For $26, it's not a good price point for this type of dish. You can get this dish for much cheaper at other establishments. I would pass on this dish. Staff was nice and interior is clean and a bit cramped. My meal was over $100 for the 3 items which I normally wouldn't mind if the quality offsets portions given. Be prepared to spend lots if you want to get full! Also, keep in mind they charge an NCA fee if you don't pay cash. This place is a solid 3.5 for me.
